So I ordered a silver HTC one. Got black. I know Amazon issue right. So I stuck it out until the end of the return widow. Because I didn't want to be with a phone over a color. So eventually I did the exchange. The new HTC one I got now has bleeding of the buttons backlight on the bottom right hand corner. Now Amazon does not want anything to do with the phone. So now I have no choice but to send it into HTC for a repair. I have to pay for shipping and be without a phone again for at least 2 weeks. Now the last time HTC has fixed something for me they forced me to buy a new phone! They had replaced the motherboard and did a "IMEI transfer" and the IMEI could never be activated. HTC said it wasn't in sprint database. Sprint said the phone was broken. Both of them didn't want anything to do with me. So although I know Im not getting a new mother board, I'm scared of sending this in. Not only that I don't want to pay for shipping and be without a phone. Just a little rant I guess. So I don't know what i'm going to do.

Don't send it in unless it is a major problem. I would have just stuck with the black that was fine except the color. When you exchange you never know what you might get. I don't know how bad the led bleed is, but ones I've seen are not so bad I would ever return one.
Good luck.

Yeah, I might wait a while. For how small it is. It's very annoying watching videos in darkness. I got to say though silver is much better than black. I had fingerprints all over the back. Like my evo lte :/ . Maybe when I go on vacation and activate my Note. I'll send it in though, only if they pay for shipping.
My screen bleeds, there are a bunch of white dots when the screen is on but black, I thought it was going to bother me a lot and wanted to exchange, but didn't, you'll probably get over it too, so don't sent it lol

If you PAID money for your device, you are ENTITLED to a perfectly functioning, as advertised product. If HTC screws up, they will pay for shipping until they get it right (except the first time). So keep at it. Plus, why would you buy from amazon? The HTC website has it for a similar price, I'm sure.

Call sprint corporate number. Say that your local store is not treating you to the proper standards that you, as a Sprint customer expect and deserve. Let them know that you are paying insurance for the device, but that you have not broken nor damaged any part of the phone, that this is how the phone has come, and that many other users have had the SAME problems you are facing, and they have been treated with respect and diligence. Sprint is top-notch at customer support, but sometimes local stores are assholes. One 19 year old kid (no offense to 19 y/os) thought he could treat me like **** cuz his name tag said 'manager'. He said since my phone was rooted he could not and would not assist me with an Evo 4G LTE hardware issue. I kindly informed him that Sprint corporate policy dictates that a rooted phone must be treated as any other phone. It will also be subject to a stock software 'update'. He said: "I am the manager, and I don't want my store helping people that root their phones". Called corporate on his rude ass, where they linked me to said policy, so I could print it. I went the next day, with key parts highlighted for him... He thanked me [sarcastically] for my phone call, and said he now had to deal with his write-up. Oh and he handed me a new phone which was shipped next-day for me
Long story short, Sprint takes care of their customers... But there is always one guy or another that just wants to be an ass. Speak with someone at corporate, maybe ask for a supervisor when you they answer. Let them know that you are being wronged. You will be helped. Oh and don't forget to say you wanted silver.
My HTC One is clean, beautiful, and 0 flaws, no light leakage, no recessed buttons, no screen popping out. But fortunately this was just luck; it's my first One

So what was the outcome?
Thisis why I won't order my phone's through a third party online. I will order online but only from places I can physically return them to like sprint online or bestbuy online. Most times my phone's r fine but if I do have a problem I don't want to go through the waiting process.

First of all, let me say that I really envy the American HTC users who seem extremely satisfied with HTC on that side of the globe. Unfortunately, it seems that even after owning HTC phones for the last 4 years, I havent learnt my lesson that HTC Singapore is truly incapable.
My nexus one started developing an erratic screen and it was to the point where i couldnt even type a message properly without having to power cycle the device to set the screen straight. I called them on the 11th of Aug to send it in (they pick up the devices here from you, so a little kudos there), however, they were unable to supply me a loaner. They said if i sent it for repair in 2 weeks, they would be able to help me out, so I waited. On the 23rd, I called them to check, and lo and behold, the service rep says they have no loaner phones at all, and will not be able to help. I figure what the heck, time to dust off the old winmo touch pro and just send the nexus one in ... the tech promises me a 3-5day turn around. 1 week later I call them up, and the tech tells me they had a problem sourcing screens, and would need to hold on to my phone "indefinitely" ... I asked him if he was off his rocker and since I had work to attend to, I left it at that. I fired off an email at night to their customer service email address, and get a reply that it will be taken care off. Literally the next day, I get an email saying my phone is ready, and it will be couriered to me the next day. I was impressed. Needless to say, when i received my phone yesterday, I was in for a rude shock... (point to note: when I sent in my phone, even the courier remarked that my phone didnt have a single scratch anywhere on it) they had sent me the phone with the screen protector half peeled off (they didnt even have the decency to replace it since they ripped it off, but i figured since they replaced the screen, it was worth it) .. i look around the phone, and there's now a scratch right next to volume rocker. Since it was the same courier who picked up the phone, he told me to send them an email, since he himself recalled there were no scratches ... I told myself for a 6mth old phone, I could live with the scratch .. I power cycle the phone and ...
the bloody screen was still erratic! they had simple reset my phone to factory (which i had already tried, in order to get rid of the problem) and sent it back to me (since i recalled that they said they didnt have the screen in stock anyway) ... so now i am, more than a week with the phone in their hands, and nothing to show for it except a scratched nexus one with a peeling screen protector. to add insult to injury, i contacted them and was told someone would call to rectify the situation ... which obviously no one has now ...
it really sucks because i really enjoy this phone ... i bought 2 - one for the girlfriend and one for myself, and hers works perfectly fine, so i know my screen's just nuts ... now the hard part is getting the "fantastic" guys over @ HTC to fix it again, since they still said they have no loaners at all ... *sigh*
Has anyone ever had any good experiences with HTC Singapore??
if you made it this far, thanks .. i had to rant somewhere .. ><

I feel your pain. I've had utterly horrible encounters with HTC Singapore as well. Not just me but a buddy of mine too. We should start a FB group saying what we really think about their support. Maybe that might generate enough negative publicity for them to fire their staff and do a 180.
Best we can do is just not buy their products. I'm already telling my friends to get samsung or motorola phones from now on.

let me be straightforward with you caysman - i have no qualms rewarding when service is met or exceeded ... i believe i may be one of the few singaporeans who tips everywhere he goes. whether its a kopitiam, starbucks or your neighbourhood restaurant. i have no problem throwing down $10 for a $50 meal if i enjoyed the service. likewise with the attitude ... i sent caltex a letter commending the guy who pumps gas at my regular station because he always went out of his way to be polite (and if you would like to see the letter, by all means, ask). not every singaporean only complains ... i spent a good sum on an exotic supercar .. the service is immaculate, even though the warranty's been up for more than 3 years. the dealer cares enough about his customers that he will wake up at 5am to attend to a customer's problem if he has to. is it so much to ask that if i buy the top of the line htc cellphone, that they honor their warranty at the least? all i asked was for a functioning screen, i did not root the phone or do anything crazy with it - all it has to do is work fine. i didnt complain till it came back to me in the same condition that i sent it in.
so while your outlook on singaporeans may be pretty poor for reasons unknown to me, it wouldnt be fair to generalize.
Boastful singaporean, where is your grace?
Acting like god, rewarding when you see fit? The arrogance off it all just as you buy your first lambo (novelty still there to boast about it huh?)

Oops you probably have a red ferrari, not a lambo. Pendants usually go for Fs. Enough money to buy the perfect life not knowing that with todays technology,' good enough' is the secret to true happiness.
And u bought the nexus one not for its technology but for its exclusivity. Most of your dumb potters have iphones.
And some in my posts lie the nugget of truth describing the cancer in the world's second richest country.

well, its painfully obvious now to me ... with you, "cannot win" ... since you have to be right about everything and have your own ideas set in stone - you are welcome to them. but please dont force your ideas of what others would like to do / purchase with their own money. do what you like with your money and perceive everything as you will, but being bitter about it and telling people off because they worked hard to buy certain things just goes to show what kind of person you truly are. if you have any more "useful" nuggets of information, feel free to pm me and spare everyone else your posts. i have no problem debating this matter with you but if you are unable to contribute to the thread, please stop making it go off topic.

[all other crap by me deleted. I don't want to fight anymore]
@mokurex: well caysman is probably singaporean / living in singapore, not sure what his game is but oh well.
@caysman: its called an example, since you allowed yourself the opportunity to generalize an entire country / populace based on your beliefs.
again, as you pointed out, no point to argue since you have your ideas and i have mine. think of me as you wish, since its obvious i have nothing i can say that would change your mentality.
@bullyfrog: while the idea of a fb group sounds good, the problem is that HTC may be outsourcing its repair services here... hence the differentiation in levels of service between usa and singapore, for example.
@x You take part in that pathetic singaporean thread at ferrarichat?

I have to say, that's one of the things I like about having an actual store to go to and deal with customer service face to face.
There's no way for them to put you on hold for 45mins to an hour, there's no waiting for the call or email that never comes, just to call back and find out there is no record of your complaint or call.
So I called my local Gamestop, the same girl that sold me my N7 was on shift. I asked her if she had any in stock for an exchange, she said "no, but let me pull it up in the computer". She tells me of 3 stores that have some in stock and asks if I need their number or address...
Since the next store was like 5 blocks away, I just drove there. They only had 1. I walk in and the sale person says "hey, hum, those aren't supposed to be sold yet, I don't think I can do the exchange until the SD of 8/7" (lol). He calls his manager, she didn't answer. He called another one on his cell, and that one told him, if I have my receipt and product, there was no problem doing the exchange.
He asks me what's wrong with it, I tell him I've randomly had a black line flash 3 times in the last week~. And although I was reluctant to exchange it after reading some of the stories behind other's defective units, as mine's was in top shape. He says yeah but if you can get a new one free, why not right? I said, yeap you're right.
So 5 mins later I walk out with my new exchange.
Now I am afraid to open and inspect it.. Heart's beating fast, I think I am gonna faint.. someone call 911..
Yeah, I really don't want to find out this one's defective.. I really, really enjoy this tablet. :silly:

P.S. Anyone know if you get the $25 credit again when registering a new unit on the same account?
EDIT: 23,618 units between serial numbers on my two units
OBSERVATIONS: This unit's back is darker than my previous one. The power and volume buttons feel more clicky, plasticy and tend to stick out more especially on the bottom. I am guessing different materials sources.

Why would you get another $25 added to your account? There is/was a loophole where you could, but on new accounts with a different credit card on file I believe. Don't be surprised if Google closed it by now.

I think the loophole you mention is where you could factory reset to get your credit in case you hadn't the first time around, correct? That's not what I'm talking about. I am talking about a new sealed never been registered unit.
I went to my store about a defective exchange, they only had 1 in store and it was on reserve so the guy called around then said he'd email the supplier. When it comes in they'll call me and I can exchange it out.

Originally yes, on this unit I did it manually, but basically the same exact thing the toolkit does, as it just does it for you via a script.
Honestly though, my first unit was perfect. I am not sure it was attributed to hardware, but more towards software, as it only seemed to be happening while in chrome and it might not have been google's or asus's fault. I didn't want to find out after it was too late to get an exchange.
I hear ya clockcycle.. I too have a love/hate relationship with Android... I typically love the HW and need to fix the SW.. But in the end, I'm always VERY happy...
Follow up on replacement unit. Seems a bit slower to sense/react to rotating and touch requires more pressure, less sensitive.

Funny. I bought my tablet at a GameStop and since then I have been to 5 more stores between Houston and Dallas and the only store that agreed to exchange my N7 didn't because I got to Waxahachie 20 mins after they closed. (My fault obv.)
One store refused to even though they had one in stock claiming only "That's a tablet. We can't do that. You have to contact the manufacturer."

They tried that as an option on me, I told them the manufacturer told me to deal with the place of purchase according to their policy and until that option is exhausted to resort to dealing with Google/ASUS warranty..
Some times some employees take returns personally, just get another rep on the phone or go in the store, FIRM but respectfully..
I ended up having to exchange this replacement as well, but really nothing wrong with the first one, 2nd one they were willing to exchange. 3rd one is just a "perfect" as the 1st and 2nd were... YMMV

It really shouldn't be that different than your old unit. That's strange that touch would require more pressure.
I went back and for a replacement at the store I missed in my earlier post. It was still there a couple o days later.
Now, I'm experiencing a very slight screen lift that I could probably lay ignore, and flicker that is a reliable semi-hourly infuriation.
I think I'm going to have to exchange this for a third unit once the good serials start flowing steady.

Unless the replacement unit was assembled in another plant and or used materials from another source. Happens often. My 3rd unit acts differently as well. It's also less sensitive. It didn't want to apply the updates, once it "did", the about still claimed I was on the original and when I checked for an update would tell me I was up to date. After applying the screen protector, this unit also did not respond to touches at all (as others have reported with their units) but both my previous units were responsive with 1-2 hour(s) of drying. Which leads me to believe touch screen was a different brand from another source, or sensitivity settings are different. Who knows..
-CC
P.S. It's ok, it works..
You are making me all nervous now, I hope mine is the right amount sensitive when it shows up tomorrow(hopefully). I didn't know they used different materials on a line of devices. Interesting.
Had my One plugged in to the USB on my computer...unplugged it because it was plugged in to USB 3 and needed it in USB 2....brick. No rhyme or reason. No power, no bootloader, no recover, no charge, nothing. Went to Sprint, they were unable to do anything either so they're ordering me a new device. They said it wont be a refurb since its so new so that's nice.
Not really sure why I'm sharing but wanted to get the info out there just in case others may have had the same thing happen to them or just be careful if you keep your device plugged in and you unplug it from the computers USB or AC usb.
PS The way the Sprint Tech's looked over my device really worried me and worries me for the future when I'll actually have some signs of wear and tear on the device. They normally have the ability to check for water damage with the stickers on the battery and a few other locations....well that doesnt exist for the One, at least in a very accessible spot. He took my phone (looks brand new) to his manager and his manager said "I think you'll be fine to replace it." Well, if my phone has scuffs all over it, etc a hardware issue doenst automatically stem from the wear and tear but I believe that's going to be the One's "indicator" and I think some may have a serious issue getting warranty repairs done since they dont have a true way of telling signs of water damage, etc without destroying the device by taking it apart.
I must say though....this is the sexiest paperweight ever.
as someone who has worked for sprint as a repair tech I can say you shouldnt be worried. The policy goes like this when trying to qualify a device for a replacement at no cost (for those with insurance that is).
1.Screen Cracks
2. Water Damage
3. Personal hardware modification (if the tech is an ass he can call you out on custom roms etc...but we usually let this slide)
Outside of that NO sprint store should EVER deny you a replace if its a legit issue just because of some nicks or scratches. Cosmetic damage isnt part of the criteria. So if you find a store that does **** you around when you know youre in the right....find another store or call corporate because thats NOT how its supposed to work.

Yeah sometimes it just depends on who the technician is as to if they are going to cut you some slack or not. The good thing is most techs really dont know anything indepth about custom roms or rooting. So if you dont say much to them you should be fine.

This. About a week before I got my One, I had gone into my local corp store with my GNex which had an unlocked bootloader, but wasn't rooted. I was having awful signal issues, even with the free Airave that was sent to me. Two managers and finally a tech from the back looked over that phone, rebooting it several times. Each time I winced because that big white unlocked lock symbol showed up and I just was waiting for one of them to say something. The closest one was one of the managers asked if I was "jailbroken" because he didn't recognize my Beautiful Widgets weather widget. I walked out of there with a NIB GNex. (A week later I got an early upgrade and sold it back for my black One).
As a retail consultant for Sprint, I'm shocked how little our techs do know tbh. Lol. I run circles around these guys in triage.

As a retail consultant for Sprint, I'm shocked how little our techs do know tbh. Lol. I run circles around these guys in triage.

Youd love my store then :]. Me and the other tech are baws lol.
I'm moving from a iPhone to a HTC One and I would like to know if their customer service has changed since 2010 (Heard very bad stuff about them back then). Are they good or is it still the same as 2010. I would like to get a rating from anyone here.

Its really comparable to apple care?
I haven't dealt with them (I sent my faulty phone back to my operator) but I have heard LOTS of bad things about them over here in Europe (England specifically).
Some people have sent their phone off 5-6 times, some have had to wait a month to get their phone back.
I think their customer service may be better/worse in different parts of the world.
They're no worse than the likes of Samsung but NO phone warranty is comparable to Apple Care. Coming from a 4s I was amazed at their service.
In saying that, I was very happy with how my operator dealt with the problem (Three).

This is what i'm talking about. That is whats stopping me from choosing the HTC one, But I want the build quality of the HTC one. I need more people to help me with this...
I dealt with them in July for a screen rpair(replacement) due to damage.
When we called, got right through to a person. Sent phone off and had it back in less than a week. There was a slight issue with the sim tray, but swapped it out at AT&T and all was good.
Also I've beenwaiting on my Google Play code from them, but once I emailed them I got responses back real quick on that. Still waiting on the code, but they said it would be a few weeks.

In terms of repair and actually talking with them on the phone - yes
In terms of obtaining a promotional item(ie $25 google play credit) not so much lol.
The main thing is if I had to choose all over again between the iPhone, S4 or the HTC One I would still choose the One.
Wife made the jump from iPhone 4S to One and has been much happier than with her iPhone.
As above, I love my One and wouldn't go back to iPhone unless they really really pulled something out of the bag. However, you will not get better than Apple support.
If all you care about is support (which is important to some people), then no other manufacturer will offer anything close to what Apple offer.
Me personally, even though Apple support is great I wanted the best phone for me and that was the HTC One.

iOS has just gotten to boring. I want the build quality of a iPhone and android. HTC would be the phone to go for me. Anyone else dealt with HTC before?
TBH there is nothing on the market comparable to Apple Care. I know of friends who have broken a device and walked into and out of a corporate store in 20minutes with a brand new phone, not a refurb. This goes from iPhones to iMacs.
That being said is it 'really' that important to you? If so then don't leave the apple hedge maze

Agree with what others are saying after coming from iPhone as they are boring the HTC One is a great phone but had a problem with it after 2weeks received it back after 9days and phone was damaged with chips taken out of phone and barely literally barely packaged.
So now have to go through the painful process of getting this sorted. It's a great phone but no other company would come close to apple care I've had phones changed there and then. I'm from UK by the way.
edit: Story of my process last night.
So I got my phone in the morning, and opened it up to find the screen was swirled and scratched and looked really bad in any light. Luckily my mom preordered the S6 (I have the S6 Edge) so I went over to her house to compare phones or to see if she had any scratches on hers. Her phone was absolutely perfect and was a good side by side of what my phone should have looked like. So I went into the AT&T store to activate and talk about getting a replacement or something.
I told AT&T about my concerns about the swirling and scratching and the worker that was helping me looked at it and then tried to justify it. He told me that it looked like a "geometric pattern" so clearly it wasn't from shipping and it was clearly from manufacturing. I think he was trying to comment on the concentric circling of the scratches, so I got what he was saying, but regardless of where the damage came from I felt like they should be responsible for it since they are the ones selling the phone.
Well, I asked what my options are. He told me that I couldn't activate the phone because then I wouldn't be able to return it to an AT&T store to get it replaced. He then told me that it was Samsungs problem and that I should contact their support to get it fixed, since it was a preorder he claimed the phone came straight from Samsung and not AT&T so they aren't responsible. A manager walked over to see how everything was going and when I mentioned my issues, he basically just told me that it sucked. He then walked away. On my way out I told another manager (I am assuming they were both managers. They had dress coats on that said Manager and had the AT&T logo on it.) The other manager said basically the same thing.... "Bummer." And that was it. I walked out with no options from AT&T.
I contacted Samsung and their support told me that I need to talk to AT&T about it since Samsung only manufactures the phones and AT&T sells them, so it's AT&Ts problem since they are the ones actually selling the device. So I got the official run around.
My only bet is to go back to AT&T on the 10th... which I'm supposed to be out of town, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do.
Going to try to contact AT&T today and see what they say.
Like T-Mobile people were complaining about, the screen is swirled straight out of the box. It looks really bad.
I can try and get pictures if people want. Just figured I'd get a thread started to see if anyone else has the problem.
Edit: Picture here. I'll take more tonight.

Some closeup pictures please. I was checking with someone else on other thread who received his AT&T device. No scratches on his. And maybe you should update the existing scratches thread.

Place of manufacturing? Vietnam?

I tried getting a picture, but I only have my phone and it won't focus on the screen.
Um, I'm not sure the place of manufacture, I'd assume vietnam.
I went to the att store and they basically said I have to talk to samsung about it.

Yeah, F that. They sold you the scratched up device and now they don't want to take responsibility for it.
Welp... it continues. Guess I'll call AT&T while I'm opening mine tomorrow just to make sure I have a replacement on the way before I even have time to be disappointed lol.

It's the same exact swirl pattern that people on the T-Mobile forums are talking about. It looks like an old cars paint in the sun.
Sorry to see you have this problem. Both the phones that I've received, mine and my girlfriend's, seem to be scratch free. I tried to scrutinize with the brightest light I could find, the sun etc, but I couldn't see a blemish. The battery life is crap, but that's another story.
Hope you get this resolved.

I just want to use the phone. I was so excited to use it, but I can't activate it because then AT&T apparently won't let me exchange it...
I wouldn't mind the scratches if I was allowed to use the phone until a new, scratch free one got here... but whatever. Stuck with my S4 while everyone else gets to enjoy their new stuff.
In all honesty man, I'd try another ATT store. I think they are just trying to shirk responsibility. Or call them and have them overnight you one. It is their product, their responsibility.

Yeah, talking with AT&T support now.
Is anyone getting Edge's that aren't scratched?
My 128gb Black Sapphire Edge should be here tomorrow. Think I'll be taking it to my local AT&T next to my work to unbox it so there is no discrepancies incase the display is scratched.

I called ATT support and they are sending me a new one out.
Sucks because I got the phone on Monday, but I probably won't get to actually use one until the end of the week. Which is fine, just excited.
However, I am going to assume this new one getting sent out is going to be scratched too.
The 128GB models have been fine I think, mostly 32GB models are scratched. Which makes me feel dumb for buying the 32GB model now... Should have just gotten the bigger version.
I used to work in an AT&T store, basically replacing the phones in store is the managers discretion and they never want that on their audit because it somehow looks bad for them, or at least that is the impression our manager gave us. So our store handled those situations the same way, we just kind of keep passing off the blame and hope it will carry the customer out of the store (no longer our problem).
The only way to get something done through AT&T is to call into support as you did, sometimes support will even notate on the account that the store has to replace the device. This kind of forces the store to do so, because there is a trail and the regional manager would get pissed when they discover the store keeps passing off issues. We had a customer do that once and our manager still refused to replace it, so the customer kept calling into support until the regional manager was notified and took a look at the account and then they see notes for weeks that the customer has attempted going into a store for help and been fighting with the store manager.

How sure are you about this?
The reason I ask is that I hadn't really noticed many people posting which specific model they had that was scratched, but there could be some credibility to it, and a bit of shady dealings on Samsung's part if this is actually the case.
Should have my 128GB in a few hours here.

I've only seen maybe one person complain about 128GB version, everyone else with 128GB versions have been fine.
However, everyone with 32GB versions seem to be having the issue. It could be coincidence and have to do with popularity of the 32GB over the 128GB.

So exactly how'd this process go for you?
They gave me so much run around I've got half a mind to go to every AT&T store I can just to curse out random employees until I feel better.
The short of the line of crap they gave me is that the shipper (FedEx) is to blame and that a case will have to be opened with them before -anything- else occurs. This of course leaves me with no device until they and FedEx discuss whatever they need to in order to deal with this bullcrap.
What I'm going to do for now is see if I can wait until the local retail store gets their units in to just do an exchange. If that doesn't work, I don't know... maybe I'll be an ass and let my lawyer give them a call. Frankly I'm just that irritated at this point.
