[Q] Help! .235 => .246 - Motorola Droid Bionic

Help I have spent several Hours looking for how-to un-root .235. I am trying to upgrade to .246 and I know that with .235 you cannot FXZ back to .905... so any ideas on what to do?

Search the web for House of Bionic. Read the directions and follow them to the letter!
This will hopefully teach you not to stray from the OTA path.

Somehow i doubt that. However, there are boatloads of threads here discussing House of Bionic to accomplish just that. It's an easy fix once you get HoB set up. Make sure you use version 9 and the .246 files specific to HoB. Sam uses his own fxz files as discussed in his FAQ. Good luck amigo!

[Q] Question about restoring ROM

Hello All;
First of all THANK you for all the help I have received in reading this forum, coming from a Droid Charge which uses odin I was a little lost and had several false starts but after asking a couple noob questions and reading the information in the forums I was able to feel at least comfortable in working on my Bionic, I had a couple false starts but they helped me learn, (softbricked my phone after only having it for 2 hours) SO THANK YOU ALL!!!!!
Now to my question:
I am basically running a completely stock ROM .902 with V6 and some aps froze or deleted. I have one minor thing wrong with my contacts FC, sure that is my fault on freezing or removing something I shouldn't have. But no biggie as I use go contacts anyway. But as much trouble and false starts I had getting it set up I would rather build it up fresh from scratch now that I am more comfortable with it. Now that I kinda know what I am doing I want to start from scratch and build it back fresh, can I do the following.
1. Backup data & aps using TB?
2. completely restore .886 using RSD Lite (or can I just put 901 on and then update over the air)
3. Re-root after getting it back to .902
4. reinstall V6
5. restore my mail app and a few other aps and data using TB.
Will this work or am I asking for troubles.
1. Yes
2. Flash 902 with rsd. Much easier that way...
3. Use motofail
4. Yes
5. Yes
try eclipse 2.1. It's the best rom available for the bionic.

Thanks for the quick answer, I will do that. I already have Eclipse 2.1 downloaded now just have to nose around and remember where I saw .902 and download it.

Anyone on 905 check cheesecake tonight?

Master qa1 and 2 got updated at 8:30. Same with master qa300 and sdc100. I don't wanna have to FXZ back to check and be let down.
Edit: spoke too soon. qa200 was updated today, the 12th. Please check! D:
Ugh, whatever. I'm gonna test out the shell script I just wrote to do a full restore, OTA to 905, then check cheesecake. I may do it tonight, but if I don't, I will tomorrow. Maybe someone who's already on 905 will beat me to it
Edit: damn thing won't boot. fml. Trying to FXZ to 902. Not working. Um uh er uh. Great.
bionic cheesecake
I've check those servers today and only have .232 showing up from a few servers. I also see a bunch of "simpsons" servers named after simpsons characters. So I'm about to check those but i've already checked the rest without seeing anything other than .232
.235?
I saw on droid hive that .235 is out. Can anyone here check?

Someone mentioned it in the Droidhive Shoutbox without any details, and never provided a link. Since then, they haven't been in the Shoutbox and never did create a thread. You might find it digging through the Shoutbox archive, but with no details provided, the only way to know for sure is if someone else checks cheesecake.
They're talking about it on droid hive in the shout box but no links for download. Several people are saying they are downloading.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooo
There's a guy on Droid Hive uploading it right now.
Yes indeed. I'm going to check it once we have a link and see if they updated the security to disallow going back to 902 from it. So far it's unlikely but never hurts to check.

I was reading on DroidHive that if you flash .235 you can't go back to gingerbread.
WOA WOA WOA. A big word of caution guys. If you do 235 you will *NOT* be able to FXZ back to 902! The security has been updated. This is a one way trip forward if you do this one.

So, over on the Droid 3 forums, there was a similar situation with the .906 update, you couldn't revert back to .890. They figured out that there were certain .img and .bin files that couldn't be written over, but someone managed to put together a modified fxz replacing the files that couldn't be changed with ones from the update, and a modified xml file. Once this was done, you could install the modified .890, and then update to the newer software. It turned out that the .906 leak was in fact what would become the OTA. Does anyone think that something like this is possible for the .235 leak? Thanks to these guys for originally figuring it out on the D3 Q9nap, Redsox985, Psouza4, and Ovelayer.
Here's a link to the D3 thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1686911
I'm aware. NOT going to happen in our unique situation. The reason is that the leaks require 905. The method they used on the D4 and RAZR require FXZ files from the version you're updating from. We only have one for 902. And there's no way to get back to 905 from that once you install 235+. Hence, if you install 235, you're stuck there for a long time. Unless an FXZ comes out for 905 or the OTA ICS build. IOW, stick to 232 until the OTA comes out.
Pretty sure I know the answer to this already... Is there any chance the .235 update can be reached from both .902 and .905? I'm aware the previous updates didn't allow that.
No chance at all. Updates well, um, update files on the system they were designed to update from. 902 != 905 so when patching files you'd be left with a mess. lol
No. You have to be on 905.
Fair enough. Noticed the new update was slightly larger than the previous ones, hoped it might have been designed to allow more than one upgrade path. Oh well.

can you FXZ back from ICS?

Can I do this without
screwing up my Bionic?
If so, could you tell me the proper steps and programs or drivers to download.
Thank you for your help, I am fairly new at this but know quite a bit about computers.

RMD
Please note that even when you have a 5.9.905 FXZ it still seems that you cannot FXZ back if you put in the OTA to 6.7.235. All other ICS leaks before .235 will allow FXZ to 902 or 905

Link to ATT stock JB?

Just looking for someone to point me in the right direction on the correct file to use to return to stock JB through RSD lite. I understand there's a few other posts about this but no true links, or everything is unorganized and hard to navigate through.
I'm trying to flash to stock then go through and do the JB root method. I believe its currently not working for me because I have partial root from ICS, but didn't safe strap backup so I'm stuck in a limbo. Upon reading similar situations returning to stock then trying to root worked for them.
Thanks for any help.

[Q] How Do I Flash Cyanogenmod on Bionic?

So I've flashed Cyanogenmod on my Droid A855 back in the day, but doing a little research I've come to find the the Bionic is a little trickier. I've read several threads that seem to go on forever and never really accomplish anything, so I'd like to start from scratch. Can anyone tell me exactly what files I need, maybe where I can look for them, and just give me a general guide as to what I'm doing. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Depending on where you are coming from, that instruction might not work.
I think if you are still on GB, then that can work. If you are on JB, definitely those instructions will NOT work.
In general, the ideal is to root your phone.
Install safestrap.
Boot into safestrap.
Install CM10 into a slot in safestrap.
If you are on JB, you need to use safetrap 3.11 (newer versions have problems).
Rooting JB requires a linux machine, or a virtual linux session on windows machine.
Umm... Not following the official directions will cause trouble. After you brick your phone, Google House of Bionic and follow those instructions to fix your phone, then go back to the CM instructions.
Read the Bionic CM 10 thread under development before you do anything and follow Hashcode's guidance.

Lol, to be completely honest, I actually have bricked this Bionic before whilst flashing it to Pageplus Cellular. And in the middle of FXZ-ing back to stock, my battery died lol. I actually had to cut a battery cable and split the two copper wires inside apart and tape them to my battery to give it enough to charge to start the process over. I definitely don't want to go through that nightmare again haha. I'll give the thread you gave me a shot and I'll post the results. Thanks man...
