Sent from my HTC Sensation XL with Beats Audio X315e using xda premium

how to logcat ?
how to logcat

alogcat app
i am using app named alogcat is it right or that what you need ?

this one is better i think : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1618882 it is from windows and then start the program make the thing u do so it will reboot and when it reboots press the squar in the coner to stop it logging then mark all and copy it and put it in a txt doc
edit:
the apps that can do it one the phone cannot be used because it dont save the log before phones reboots

?
make it after it reboots ?

no start the logcat reader and do what u used to do before the rebooting bug. when the phones reboots stop logcat reader and copy all the lines in a text document and upload.

Photo Gallery Freeze

My phone freezes at times when i open the image gallery.
Just to give more info on the freeze: The phone becomes unresponsive (but if i have music playing, it will continue), after some time, the phone seems to restart, but not in the traditional sense. Like the lock screen will comeback, it will say no service...until it finds service, it will scan the SD cards...but the touch screen will remain completely unresponsive. If i hold the power button, the power off, flight mode and silent mode context menu will appear but i can't do anything because the screen wont response to my touch. The only way i can get it working again is removing the battery, which is annoying.
Is anyone experiencing this issue with the image gallery?
Also, when i send an image to my friend (BB user) it takes like 20 hours before he receives it, this isnt an exaggeration. I sent an image at 3pm, he got it at 8am. This is an issue for me. The image size was less than 200kb.

Im using the rogers stock rom. (Android 2.1), normally i would just use a different gallery, but honestly i really like the one the phone came with. The phone is rooted and i applied OCLF. Other than that, there are no major modifications.
I have the same problem, it used to just lag a little bit but just now it completely froze. I had to take out the battery to restart. Should we be worried?
Any help from experienced users would new wonderful! Thanks!
same problem, rogers stock 2.1
now that i know i am not the only one with this problem, i think there may be something wrong with the rogers rom itself, and not my phone.
About 10-20% of the time it will just fail to load the gallery and freeze on me forcing a hard restart

[Q] Why does my WiFi continually disable itself?

Hi,
I have noticed that whenever I screen off and put my phone down, I'll return to it as little as 5 minutes later, wake the phone and notice that I've been thrown off of the WiFi. This seems to happen with every router I connect to although it varies - sometimes I'll stay connected all night, sometimes I'll get thrown out almost immediately.
This never happens when the screen is awake.
Does anyone know why this may be?
Thanks for your time,
Jim

Your welcome, i had the same problem myself, when i first had my phone.

Touch screen not responding sometimes

Hi ppl. I recently encountered this problem and Hv searched a lot but couldn't find a proper solution.
I pulled my Ph out of my pocket and had the pocket sensor app installed back then and the phone was getting locked and unlocked but I couldn't bypass the lock screen since the touch screen wouldn't respond. I could see everything else on the notification bar working like the gprs arrows and I even got a call when this happened but couldn't pick the call up too. The only way I could get out of it was to take the battery out. Now its been happening often and I heard the emmc chip gets fried if u keep taking the battery out when the Ph is on. Anyone else facing a similar problem??
I am rooted on 2.3.5

I had major problems when I was on 2.3.3 stock unrooted.
I had a lot of crap on it so maybe that was the problem.
Are you on a custom rom? If youre not, I would probably try a gingerbread custom rom and see if it still happens.
Also if you are scared of taking the battery out, you can hold power+vol down+vol up at the same time for a few seconds, and it will reboot
Try not to use that apps. See whether the same thing happen again or not.

Have you tried a factory reset?
I had it on unrooted stock optus rom.
I would change to a more optimised rom like ARHD or something
@nonverbose
I don't think it is that big of an issue for a factory reset but it happened again today and was fine after a few mins. Would you come to know what is causing this if I sent some kind of an error log or something. If yes pl tell me what I need to send. @marcj338
Does ARHD have internet pass through? I use my office network to download big games, etc so I need the feature. Hows ARHD better than the stock anyway?

Not sure about the internet pass through because I have never tried to use it so I dont know if its there
It is much smoother, Ive played with stock 3.0 and it lags and is a bit choppy
When I used ARHD, I found it a LOT smoother than stock, it has better battery life, and it more optimised. Even with OC is lasts longer. I would have kept it, but I didn't like the look of stock 3.0 compared to runnymede ports

The reason I suggested a factory reset is because I think you're experiencing major lag spikes, possibly due to background running tasks. Does it always happen when you have this pocket sensor app activated?
@markj338
I wanted to try out ARHD for a while but was unimpressed by CM so I thought of sticking to stock but later when I checked my friends Ph and saw the difference I wanted to go for it but now I think am gonna wait for ics cos I heard it's very stable. TX for ur time though! Appreciate it ..
@nonverbose
I think it's the pocket sensor but am not sure. I try out various combinations to get outta it. Sometimes I think its the go locker but I noticed 1 thing for sure ....it happens when it's really hot outside and the battery heats up too. Am trying to give as much info as possible!!
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA
Wow.....everytime I try to determine the problem as to why this is happening I come up with random ideas since noting used to work. Now on my way to work the same thing happened again. It is still not responding and am posting this from my office computer. I could unlock the go lock screen by the vol button which I had configured. I could see the internet pages loading up since I was browsing when it happened suddenly. The auto rotation also works and all buttons like home, menu, search are responding but it just doesnt seem to respond when I touch the screen. I googled it and found there is something called a touch input which might be and issue. I cant do anything to stop and restart the service since the touch doesnt work. Any suggestions?
Uninstall pocket sensor and go locker.

Check where exactly is the proximity sensor and make sure nothing is blocking it (dirt) and/or is still exactly where it should be (if you drop a phone it might get dislocated). This would explain sudden unresponsiveness since phone might think it is in call mode (proximity sensor detects presence of your head and disables the screen while you are dialling).
I had go launcher n pocket sensor way before this started happening. I don't think that's the problem. Its something to do with the touch input but can't figure out the cause.
N yeah I remember dropping it once. My SD card is almost full since I got a lotta media n apps. Would buying a new high capacity SD card do the trick? I remember my laptop lagging due to an almost full hard disk ...

I can confirm that this is working, be sure to restart your phone after applying the settings web hijacker posted.
NOTE: your phone will not go into deep sleep after applying this workaround as it will purposely cause a partial wakelock, so this will have some negative affect on battery, just how much remains to be seen.

Installed again and did the work around 2 method and rebooted. Was going fine the whole day until I turned off wifi to save battery. Turned it back on, everything was fine, then I locked the phone. Unlocked it back and no wifi! But it reconnected really quickly so I guess this app is doing something!

2.when you turn off WiFi to save your battery and turn it on again .... go to dev option and press enable work ground 2 again and this should solve the problem

Your getting a message? Tapping the Hard/Soft Keys? Tapping an option which has vibration to it? Receiving a notification?

that probably looks like a digitizer problem btw r u hooked up to charger or connected to pc/lappy when this happens ? coz if that is so then its probably excessive charge on ur digitizer , either ways disconnect if connected to charger usb etc power down pull out the battery and wipe ur display with a sightly damp cloth and leave d device for abt half an hour then try bootin and c if d problem persists good luck!

If you have a terminal emulator and root permissions, try running logcat and see if it picks anything up. You can continue doing whatever you're doing, just make sure the emulator icon stays in your notifications.
How often does this happen?
as long as no options dont get selected when d phone randomly vibrstes maybe u shuld try disablin vibrate on touch option in setrings/sounds and see if it persists

Download and install Android Terminal Emulator or similar app from the Play Store. When you start the app, it stays active until you explicitly close it (an icon will be seen in your notifications to indicate that it's running). While it's running, you can have several terminal sessions open simultaneously and you can use this feature to compare results from different commands that run in real-time.. You will need root permissions, so for every terminal session window, you'll need to enter the command 'su'.
There are several things you can do to try and pinpoint the source of the problem:
1) In a terminal window (with root permissions) enter 'logcat' and let it run. You can copy and past the output of logcat to Pastebin or similar website and share the link (don't paste it in the forum as it is extremely annoying for most users). Also, if you do post your output for everyone to see, logcat has the potential of recording sensitive activities so I would suggest not looking at porn, doing anything illegal, or anything you wouldn't want to be known to the general public that could be used against you.
2) Entering the command 'top', will give you a real-time view of top running processes. By itself, it probably wouldn't do you much good, but it can help you identify apps or processes that are running but don't show up in your running apps list under settings.
3) The 'dmesg' command is used to write kernel messages to standard output and can (in some cases) give you an idea of what apps/programs are requesting access to the phones hardware such as the vibrator. The output can be extremely long and usually won't all fit in the terminal's history but by piping it into the 'less' command, as such: 'dmesg | less', it will give you a page by page view of it's output. Alternatively, using 'cat /proc/kmsg' will give you the same results, but is continually updated as with the 'top' or 'logcat' commands.
If I were to guess, I would say that whatever app you are using to watch videos, may have a haptic setting feedback enabled, but that's just a wild guess and wouldn't explain why it would happen when you're making calls as well. I would suggest trying to use the tools that are available to try and find the source of the problem, and run through your settings once or twice to see if anything looks out of the ordinary.
Here's a good simple app to grab logcat's: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.jtb.alogcat
Sent from my One X
Also turn on "pointer location" in the developer options of settings. If the screen is showing random touches then you got a problem :bad:
