I found the picture phone book seems to be pixelated even if I select high resolution pic and crop it. What should be the picture resolution size for using as picture contact? My old X10 doesn't do that and do show pic in high resolution without pixelated. Why my new TX picture phone book is pixelated? Any help is appreciated.
Also, what should be the picture resolution size for using as wallpaper? Thanks

I guess it's not the phone limiting the resolution it's Google! You can select high res pictures and they're shown nice on the phone but only a low res image is synched. You won't notice it until you reset your phone or switch over to an other phone - which is what you did right now...

But even I select new high res pic for phonebook, it show bad pixelation on contact.........I installed HD caller ID and it fixed the caller ID problem but when I browse the contact list, it still show pic contact in low res pixelation. I think Sony need to fix it in next firmware upgrade.

maybe you can try this one :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oxplot.contactphotosync
Says it needs root for high res pictures.

Recently got HTC One, really love this phone, but this issue is bordering me.
Only few contacts have hi-res photos. Even after I add through a web new HQ picture it syncs it in low res again.
If I add through phone new picture it works, people app shows hq picture, it even shows new pic on web (google contacts), but as soon as I remove account and add it again, it syncs again in low res !
Only few people are in high res, those one's I added ass soon as I sow news that google fixed this issue, is it back again or am I missing smth ?
Can abybody at least say that everything works for him ?

This happens to me too, if I set a high res picture for the contact on the HTC one it works for a bit but for some reason it goes low res after a while, I changed lots of contact pics to high res but slowly and seemingly at random they are becoming low res an dotty, I've also tried at the Google end, importing high res directly to Google contacts but the same happens

The problem you have is because Google compress them.
I use HD Contact Photos from the market. Works quite well.
HERE is the XDA thread.
Thanks for help!
But isn't Google fixed this issue in JellyBean ?
How come I get few contacts in high res ?

Well if they have it hasn't ever done it on mine yet. When I replace them they just go back crap unless I use the app I mentioned.

Just tried this app and I am not sure if it is working as I want to.
Yess, I do have hi-res photos now, but it hasn't updated it in web, so as soon I remove acc (or hard reset phone, eg. new rom) I will need to set-up all over again ?
EDIT: it seems that it updated photo on the web
Little bump. I think this is HTC issue, because when using clean Android or CM 10.1 all photos are high res.
With the app suggested, it all works until I make hard reset or flash a new rom!
Im on 136 latest firmware and the annoying bug is still present. Try doing this and you will see what i mean.
Edit a picture using the stock photo editor. Crop it first to a smaller size then sharpen.. The picture becomes zig-zaged.. Literally. You wont be able to recognize the what the picture is anymore.
I need to do the long cut to bypass this which is to first sharpen. Then save. Then go to the edited picture and crop then save again.. Its too much work..
Also, image stabilizer on the camera now sucks big time. 70% of the time, there is an after image on pictures sort of like a street fighter ultimate move. How annoying can this update get..

im asking around about the same thing lol, the sharpen bug
Hi is there a mod to have only the fullscreen caller picture? I tried the gravity one but doesn't work. I am on kk rooted. Thanks
There's a lot of them in Z1 section. Try to find 'em all....
They do work, but not with the latest 108 or higher FW.
It just needs modifying to do that. The modder that did it never updated to the latest FW.

I'm on v133 stock at the moment and it seems to have full screen as default in phone app - unless I'm deluded or something, I can see photos of my contacts on full screen when the call comes in.
Truth to be told, I had to update all my friends photos in contacts app, but once I did it, their photos display full screen without any problems. I'm on this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/development/stock-14-4-0-133-t2887081 and didn't apply de-odex patch yet. Also no MODs installed in Xposed.
Can you do a screenshot please

the size of the caller's picture is still a puzzle to me?
My contacts are in sync with google. When i bought this phone I sync' ed contacts and got small pictures, so I spent 1h reassigning new pictures directly on the phone, and since then i started having full screen pictures. Then I upgrade with flashtool and, due to a problem, I reset all data, so i had to re-sync contacts, and the caller's pictures, altough the new ones, were small again.
I believe it is still the sam old story with google: when you assign a new contact picture from the phone, the phone keeps the hi-res one while google resizes the photo.
Hi does anyone know where the photo setting that I can set?
Cause I wanna the photos are shown in descending order instead of the newer ones below.

Haha good question....the photo gallery is sorting and displaying in a strange way....newest on the bottom and u have to scroll up to see older ones.
Any other app even messaging ones display newest on the top so the phone gallery app is pretty annoying.
Yeap hope OPPO can let us set it in our preferred way, it annoying when you got a lot of photos on top but need to scroll all the way down to see the new shot that we make.
Hi guys. Anyone else have an issue whereby the colors in the photo preview are rich and vibrant and then the captured photo is flat and horrible? Happens in social media apps as well as the main camera. But only with photos not videos. Any ideas? Before and after attached.
The first one looks way oversaturated especially the red channel.
Clear system cache and cam data.
Probably has to do with settings but could be the firmware is displaying previews in vivid display mode.

Tbh I wouldn't mind if it displayed the second image, but I don't want two different results. I want whatever I'm looking at to be the taken photo. I'll try that thanks.
Does yours do this if you have the same phone?

That first image is a screen shot?
I have Note 10+'s. I only use the preshot image to set up, frame, AF lock, exposure, etc a shot.
After decades of shooting the final result is all that matters to me. I find shooting with smartphones to be generally annoying.
