I've turned off the auto-capitalization but whenever I write the "i" on swype keyboard, it capitalizes the "i" to "I". How to get rid of this?
Thanks in advance.
Maybe have a look on the automatic correction :fingers-crossed:
Auto-capitalization is for the first letter of the sentence. "I" in english should allways be capital. If you selected english keyboard it will capitalize your letter. Try unticking auto corect and other options like this in keyboard options.
Don't forget to say thanks if this post helped you.

guys...
any1 got any idea how come when I'm using the build in QWERTY keyboard, I'm having trouble typing words "near" or "haha" ?
Under options for the input types, I've already untick "Suggest words when entering text" and cleared stored entries.
For example, I can't type the words "near", it will prompt me if I want to add "a" after I've type "ne"
I do not have any problems when using the software based QWERTY keyboard though.
hmm.. dun tell me only my set having this prob?
I would suggest ticking "Suggest words when entering text" because with it unticked you wont get any words suggested!
I have the following settings on my MDA Vario III and it works perfectly:
Suggest after entering A SPACE
Suggest 4 word(s)
Add a space after word AND Enable Auto Correct ar both ticked
With that done you can add a word to the built in dictionary as follows:
1. Type the whole word you want to add e.g. near then type a space
2. Type the word again and it should be in the dictionary now (at which point it will be suggested in the list of words it brings up!)
FYI when I tested it just now my phone didn't suggest near or haha until I had typed them first, now both appear after I type a few letters!
I hope this helps, but please feel free to ask if you have any questions.
Cheers

Great. It is clear now at last how it works. Do you know also how to delet words from this dictionary?
The only way I have found to delete words is as follows BUT bear in mind that it gets rid of ALL the words that you have added:
Start>Settings>Input>Word Completion then click on Clear Stored Entries

Thanks.
I have been trying to work out how to clear out suggested words.
Clear suggested entries seemed too straight forward
hey guys, is it just me or is it normal that when you're typing an sms and select the suggested word in t9, it does NOT add a space, perform spelling or suggest next word. I find it a bit annoying that after selecting the predicted text that I then have to hit the space button again.
I've checked "Add a space after word" and "enable auto correct"
Is anyone else having this problem?
Same thing as you.....
also no t9 with keyboard option...would be good if had.
...and the T9 does not allow a new word to contain a number and letter combo. for example "2moro"
i know i should not be butchering the english language but it sure is handy.
previous winmo devices have allowed me to add number letter combo's so this seems weird
I get aoutomatic capital letter after a . Before I changed in some setting in xt9. Please help me find my way back!!
same here. Must be a built-in feature.
hmm
Now i do not get it any more?
I would like it to get back!
go to: all settings, input, options and you have there: capitalize first letter of sentence. Cheers!
Ok let me start by saying sorry if this is in the wrong forum but i didnt see an App section in the main XDA screen.
Also let me state that I searched but only found a way to add words if rooted, which i am not.
Just wondering if anyone has run across a way to add words to the Swype dictionary? I think i managed to do it once by accident but not being able to Swype things like curse words or even something like "haha" is bothering me.
I read in the swype help section that to add a word to dictionary just spell out the word normally then hit space. Swype auto adds the word to its dictionary. To remove a word just highlight the word then hit the swype function key and it will give you the option to delete word from dictionary. This has worked for me.

ok i will try that, its weird though i read the options menu but maybe i missed that part.
Thanks!
ahhh i figured it out, jeez im slow. Just type the word in the box and long press, it gives the option to save to dictionary.
mods you can close this!
I'm not using an English keyboard yet the phone insists that I'm writing the English first-person pronoun and capitalizes any letter i that has a space before and after it.
Any way to turn this off?
I've turned it off but dont know how. When I typed I got a menu showing possible words and I got both "i" and "I". I simply chose "i" and now it's always "i".
Try enabling suggestions in Swype.
Word suggestions was a pain in the a** whild typing in another language than what Swype is configured for so I've turned it off. Is there a better solution?
