Today I decided to root my captivate and was unsuccessful with the super one click. I then decided to do it manually with the update.zip. After I finished rebooting with recovery mode I saw the su app. I then tried to use titanium backup and it said that it could not get root permission. Could someone please help me figure out what went wrong and help me get a successful root so I can enable normally apps.

Should I flash back to stock with odin and then try to root

What ROM are you running?
Titanuim Backup probably wasn't given su permissions.
1. Have you tried rebooting it. Sometimes all it needs is a simple reboot and when you start TB, it will ask for su permissions.
2. Go to superuser. If you see titanium backup, click on it, forget, and reboot.
Just oneclickstock, load your ROM, and root again.
Maybe it's an app that's getting in the way?

People help me!
I took my sister SE X8 to get my since her ROM that I installed it and something works slowely, and if the description was written to work ok, but after a few failed attempts, I returned it the old ROM Floyo v.0.3
Now, I installed everything right, synchronized across its Gmail, update market to play store, install BusyBox. When I reset the mobile no longer wanted to start properly, accurately shows (No service) and throws me some hill popup-s..., like The application LauncherPro has stopped unexpectedly!
And when I left mobile than reset several time and all the same ...
The worst is that I can not re-enter the xRecovery and re-install the ROM!
As I made the problem when I installed BusuBox and reset mobile!
How do I resolve this? Please help!
Download x8toolbox install recovery and full wipe reinstall the Rom

Ok, I will try this today. When I use x8toolbox and flash my device did I must again root my device or not?
when you install a custom rom you mustn't unistall or update busybox. you install busybox when you root your phone and you are done(in the most cases)!.....

I rooted my phone and installed CWM.
However rooting and installing roms are not for me. So I want to go back to my warranty.
How can I unroot and remove CWM and go back to my warranty, I still have 21 months of warranty period and I dont want to burn it
I found how to unroot, installing unroot file and setuping it like rooting but how to remove CWM.
Thx a lot
Taha
if you have a stock rom then flash it with Odin
else for unrooting first remove superuser app then busybox and sqlite3 then su and you will be unrooted
for going to stock recovery you will need its img and have to flash with odin
weird thing I only had superuser. after putting unroot.zip into my sdcard.
I turn off my device and go to the recovery - tadaaa CWM is gone.
What can cause this?
How I install CWM? Put the cwm into sd card and installed it via recovery menu.
Thx a lot
Taha
what unroot.zip you used

I found this file in this forum and looks like it did the job. I check with root checker and it says I'm not rooted.
But I'm confused about CWM. How it deleted itself. It deleted itself before unrooting process.
I don't have the answer
I guess flashing a stock firmware gives you the stock recovery. So its obvious that you'll lose CWM.

Google Search it. Go to your phone's settings>about>baseband version. Then Google search the baseband version and look for a download or a guide. Afterwards download the file and flash it with Odin.
EDIT:
Here's the link to the thread which has a list of firmwares, custom roms, kernels, etc. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1443907
Thx a lot for the answers.

Hello!
I have a Galaxy S Plus, and I've installed CM9 by ivendor beta 4 on my lovely phone. After flashing become completed, I tried to use Titanium Backup. It starts, than it says: 'sorry I can't get root access, pls feed me with root etc.'. So I tried to update the su binary, and the busybox. Rebooted, started TI Backup again, but nothing changed. So I decided to re-root this great phone. Downloaded Root-i9001-Signed.zip, flashed it via CWM recovery 6. I started the TI Backup again but nothing changed, can't get root access. Pls help me. Thx.

i had rooted my device and my superuser application is very old version.now without updating it, if i open any application which require root access it force closes.so i have to update it every time i do a factory reset which is annoying.so can i integrate the superuser update to rom by using titanium backup without bricking or any other problems.i also want to flash cwm recovery to use custom roms. i hope that there will be no problems if i integrate the update.pls help me.

OK Thanku for ur reply. can i also flash supersu in my stock rom. if so i have to just uninstall superuser and install supersu. pls tell me the procedure.
no don't uninstall superuser as you'll lose root rights... just install superSU and then in options click "switch superuser app" it will then install new binary code for superSU, then you can uninstall superuser.

Take the superuser app from your rom zip, place it in /system and set permissions. Or try to flash the rom without a full wipe (only /cache and dalvik). But I think downloading from the Play Store will also work.
