Will the the pogo pin connection be used for a stand/charging/media dock only or shall we hope for a keyboard as well?
It is meant for all of the above that you just mentioned
Hopefully Google/Samsung support it with a wide range of accessories.
I just hope the keyboard doesn't cost 100€ like others. That's 1/4 of the device. There isn't much technology inside a keyboard...
What's the chance of seeing a keyboard cover a la the MS Touch Cover, or a dock a la the Transformer series?

While the technology might not be that impressive in a keyboard, they usually include an extended battery in the keyboard. That alone is worth a decent amount of money. That and a normal keyboard is easily ~$50 or more. I don't think that is a terrible price to pay for the convenience and functionality.

The Surface keyboard cover is a great idea, but $120 extra (with Surface), ouch.
Keyboard Case for nexus 10
Hope that comes with a keyboard cover as beautiful as that of the MS Surface.
This Tablet is beautifull for develop whit AIDE - Android Java IDE
Is it really possible to have a keyboard dock for this tablet? The tablet doesn't have hinges where the dock would attach and be secured to, so unfortunately I don't think it will be possible.

What? There is a pogo pin connector on the bottom in between two slots for something to snap into (like the prime tablet implementation). This is obviously not used for the cover, as that uses the top part of the back, so the pogo and slots should be for some dock/keyboard of some kind. Would be shocked to find they don't make them.
I'll get my surface in the next few days, but if it 's no fit for me, then I so hope for a battery/keyboard dock...

My guess is some dock that charges it at the same time.
Is that a keyboard or a tablet placed flat on this photo??

Outdated? How so? There is currently no other android tablet that has close to the same specs...
Here's a nice keyboard accessory:
http://phandroid.com/2012/11/01/logitech-bluetooth-android-keyboard-only-10-better-hurry-deals/
should fit the nexus 10. No sd card slot, uses bluetooth.
I would love something comparable to the Transformer dock for the Asus transformer prime series. Adds a USB port, full size SD reader, 6 hours of extra battery and a full keyboard.
The only way to improve on that would be a backlit keyboard and USB 3.0 instead of 2.0.... Maybe a blu-ray drive? I can dream:cyclops:
Hmmm... I wonder if the keyboard could have a microSD card?

Not sure when or if Defy will get its own Deck Dock. But my wife got me these somewhat useless business card holders. However, as they're steel, I stuck a magnet to the back, put in my Defy and voila! Deck Dock!

Wouldn't the BB Torch's charging dock suit?
Hi all,
Within weeks I'll receive my first Android phone, after 5 years using WM. Really hope to get adapted to this new platform. It's that I'm that lucky guy who has happened to win Clove's Motorola Defy giveaway competition .
Anyway, this is purely theoretical, but I have noticed that the Blackberry Torch 9800, closed, is slightly bigger than the Defy, in all 3 dimensions. Besides, its charging dock + home charger (you'll be able to find some of them on eBay, like e.g. this one) takes the Torch in landscape mode, and seems to have its male micro-USB port more to the right side, related to its center, which could match the Defy's. Don't know whether it bears a magnet or not, though. Or, if it is be placed in the same location as required by the Defy sensor. Despite all 'ifs', I wonder if the Defy would fit in.
Anyone here would be brave enough to try one of those and see if it fits?
Just my 2 cents...
Regards,
Carlos
Do you have a BB Torch to compare? The USB adpater would have to be in the same orientation as the Defy's, which is "upside down" (narrow edge up). You'd have to have room to move the USB cover aside on the Defy too.

Unfortunately, not. It was pure speculation. Maybe someone here can make a simple test...
According to Mobilefun.co.uk, this thing should fit the defy as well...
Anyone feel like taking one for the team and putting their claims to the test? Looks like a nice dock but I'm afraid that A) it won't fit snugly and B) the usb cover will get in the way.

It might be worth asking them if they can provide photos to back up their claim.
It's in their best interest after all as I'm sure a few of us are interested in finding a decent desktop dock for their Defy.
What? Milestone (Droid)'s dock?
I don't see how the Milestone's dock would suit the Defy, since the former's micro-USB port is to the left, whilst the latter's is to the right.
I might me heavily wrong though (as usual)...
Regards,
Carlos
Anyone had any luck finding a dock for this thing? I am interested as well.
Some guy's come up with a DIY Dock, credits to uploader
Sorry can't paste links so go to youtube and type in "Motorola Defy media dock"
Looks neat
It's made of cardboard - cereal box style. Good effort tho.
Could be a market for aftermarket stands if someone wants to make them... worked for a guy on maemo.org for the N900. He made them out of laser cut wood and sold them via an online shop he set up. Was very popular.
Considering one of these docks
There are lots of docks for the droids and milestones but none designed for the defy yet. But I did come across a couple candidates that I am considering and wondered if anyone had tried either of them yet.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003DM4KLW/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=A2LD2YC4L2Z2RO
http://www.clingo.com/home-and-office/universal-podium/
I am leaning towards the first one listed from amazon but the second also looks pretty nice. Neither has a build in charger that will line up with the defy but they have plenty of open space to allow for a usb to plug in.
I use a Clingo which is simple. It doesn't have the magnet required to automatically activate dock mode, of course.
I don't know about you guys, but the day I bought a dock for my BlackBerry it changed my life. I can live without one for a while, but it's just not the same. Samsung and 3rd parties need to step up their game.
You can always make your own, it's not like they promised it like they did with the Galaxy S phones (took couple of months for them to get it out).
I had both the car and home dock for my Nexus One. I may be able to live without the home dock, but the car dock is a must for me!

I am hoping that Pro Clip will come out with a decent car dock soon as well.
I could also go for a dock with speakers for work as well. I like to listen to music and Sirius XM

The Nexus One dock was designed specifically for the N1. The N1 is the only phone that will fit and get any use out of it unfortunately. I loved my N1 dock and right now it's what I miss the most with my NS. I bought a $30 universal USB car dock and it it super cheap feeling and is already loose.
The fact that I have to manually connect a USB connector anytime I want to charge it isn't a huge deal, but definitely not a plus. And then with my N1 dock, it would launch the car home when it was docked. Just super useful and convenient. I hope Samsung can release a dock for the NS of equal quality.

20 euro in Amazon.de, plus postage. It is stylish, but such a price is excessive.
You do get a charger with it. Still a bit expensive especially since it won't work when you use a case

No, when you connect the Xplay to the dock you can use the phone speakers if you want.
I have the dock and I use it for having the Xplay as alarm clock, really useful.
I can see this being useful say if you're on a long journey and you can stick your phone in the dock and watch a movie or play a game (connect up a wiimote and you're sorted)
Tempted by this. Price however not so much

Heh yes, but my N64oid doesn't let me map the touch pads. Can't play Orcarina of time without the C buttons
For a lot of games it works to map some C buttons and use the touch screen for the less used c buttons. N64oid can display only the C buttons on the touch screen if you want (in the lower right corner even).

I just started using it right now. I mapped the Dpad controls to the Dpad, just left the analog on screen.

Yah I noticed a little later on about it. There are so many videos out that some seem to have the antenna and some don't.
It doesn't seem to support wireless charging now. The S3 has the antenna in the battery and has 2 prongs for wireless charging. When I was looking at the Note 2 there is prongs for the antenna, but none for wireless charging unless those prongs do double duty which is highly unlikely.

How easy is it to use the camera with the flip cover ?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
I do a lot of homework comparing specs when shopping for devices, but always forget to consider accessories.
I guess I am also cheap, but spending 75$ + on smartphone holder seems silly. So, like with my GNex it's time to build docks and stands again.
More will come, this time with turbo charging and Qi instead of pogo pins.
This stand was a quickie until I get a chance to do more serious tinkering.
The section base is from an old broken and undersized universal stand
The main bracket is from some IKEA cabinet I cant find link to.
The magnets are neodymium similar to BAC6 BAC6
The rest is random screws & bolts from the junk box.
I still need to cut/drill the bracket to allow for connection of car charger, pics to follow when I get access to tools next week. It holds good on kevlar back especially with the slight support from bracket lip underneath. Finding a good suction surface in the car is another story...
I open the floor to questions.

There are a little bit less than ZERO accesories for sale here in Norway,, and I enjoy tinkering.
If you check out the Galaxy Nexus forum there were many people creating their own cool docks and chargers.

You are right, that would be cool. I wish they would make a screen protector that wraps around the back of the phone and connects into the battery-- the screen protector could be a mini solar panel, and any light the screen sees would be converted in to energy. How about that for an idea?

that's an interesting thought. But the issue with be the solar panel but the circuitry to regulate and control the power. A phone case would be thick enough though. Intergrate seven Qi wireless solar power charging. Boom!
