I have the following problem:
I have RocketROM v12 - ICS - 4.0.4 - XXLRT.
After I put my new simcard in the Galaxy Note, my Galaxy Note went in bootloop.
I can boot in CWM and download.
I have an older Nandroid backup and I did a new Nandroid backup without any problem.
On my internal SD-card I still have the above described ROM.
After re-installing the ROM I still have the problem with bootloop.
What is the best way to get out of the bootloop without losing my Nandroid Backup?
Have you done wipes of dalvik and cache? Do those first, see if it still remains.

may be do a wipe cache and dalvik.. and check.. if no go then do a factory reset from cwm

Thanks. I did wipe cache and dalvik, and the bootloop still remains.
If I do a factory reset, will I lose my Nandroid Backups?
no ur internal and external memory will be untouched
Thanks for all.
I am out of bootloop without lost of backup

Some rom guides tell you to wipe data/factory reset after you have.flashed the rom but wouldn't this put your phone back to stock firmware?
What is non wipe and wipe because I have tried both and they wipe everything.

You can find Wipe- and Non-Wipe versions on some ROMs. So you can choose if everything should be wiped or not.
Factory reset = removing all user data

If you are updating same rom then generally you can use non wipe version, if you are coming from a different rom then use wipe to avoid data conflict

Wiping after flashing won't put your phone back to stock but may put it into a bootloop. Most instructions say wipe data before flashing, this will prevent any compatibility errors you may have with an old rom or version. Just remember to backup in case things go wrong.
I am unable to use Google talk in cm9. It installs, but forces close when I open it...
factory reset and flash gapps again...it might help..
So, if I understand correctly....wipe cm9 to factory using webos. Then, reinstall cm9 and gapps?
Back up your apps using titanium backup or my backup pro. Go to recovery, take nandroid backup, factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, reflash cm9...reflash latest gapps....

That did the trick!
Hi all
I am looking to sell my Nexus 7 but i have a problem - I encrypted it when i first got it.
I have read that if you go into settings -> Backup & Restore -> Factory Reset, that it should decrypt the device and wipe it as if its new however when i do this, the device reboots, then it asks me for my PIN again and then continues to boot as normal - Not Factory Reset
Anyone had this before and/or know a fix?
Can't you just wipe everything, cache, dalvik, data, system,, leave only sdcard and flash a stock ROM if you're selling it?

Wiping stuff from recovery fails as everything is encrypted
Maybe flash one of the factory images? Not sure...
okay, I upgrade my n70f00 from ics stock to jb stock then root with philz kernel. everything went fine. then I notice my phone a bit slow, memory almost full (left less then 100mb out of 800mb) and everytime I boot I get 'android is upgrading, app statting.." notification. i want to reset, but when I do backup with cmw always fail (never backup before). do some this and that, i found that i can't access folder '\data\lost&found'. each time I click that folder using any rooted explorer I have the phone restart. I search and found sgs tools app that can delete corrupted media file, and it did. but I still can access '\data\lost&found' folder (keep restarting).
any idea at all?
thanks in advance..
Did you wipe all the partitions before flashing jb? You can download philz kernel (zip file) corresponding to your rom and flash it from stock recovery.. Go back to recovery (cwm) and wipe data, preload, system, cache, dalvik cache and put the phone in download mode and flash jb for your country or any country using pc odin.. Do backup anything important before wiping..

I didn't wipe anything prior to jb upgrading, hoping everything went fine so I dont have to reinstall alot of apps after upgrading. Now, I can't do full backup because it keep rrstarting when I do full backup. So I'll try several things before doing full wipe and odin.
Thanks

if you are already rooted and if phone gives you enough time to backup your apps you can try using Titanium backup pro to backup your apps.

yes, I'm root. ok, i'll try that. btw, is there any risk of bricking if I do odin with 'corrupted' system folder ('system\data\lost&found')?
thanks again
No. If you put the phone into download mode and flash stock rom from pc odin it should work, but it is advisable that you do wipe the /system /data /preload before you flash stock rom again. Make sure you are on safe kernel before wiping.

Hi,
somehow the software of my galaxy note got damaged. I didnt install new firmware or anything. i just wanted to shut it down but i think it freezes already there. so i took the battery out. but when i start it it gets to the samsung boot anmation and crashes and restarts again.
i can reach the phils kernal and also bootloader. i hope i can do a custom flash to fix it without that i have to wipe it and reinstall anything. which part i have to reflash to fix that?
if you can reach the recovery, then make nandroid backup and wipe data and cache and dalvik and finally restore your cache and data (or you can reflash using odin and then restore data and cache).

Thanks! Tried it but I think the backup wasn't created correct. I couldn't restore data and cache.
well I used a some months old backup. had to update a lot and to do changes but it works now.
so I will create an actual backup now.
