how to stop OTA Update once download starts - Motorola Atrix HD

I mistakenly clicked yes to system update when i powered on my phone for the first time . It's still downloading the update through wifi . i have not put a sim in yet . I want to test whether my phone is sim unlocked as said by the seller before trying the update . Problem is i can't seem to stop it from downloading , whenever i turn my wifi on , it resumes .
any solutions ??

If it is unlocked then it will stay unlocked update or no update

Maybe a bad download retry and download it again.

Be sure your phone is 100% stock before you update.
If all fails, use .890 SBF then do update

Google Nexus One keeps restarting.

5 days ago, I suddenly found my phone off. I turned it on and it then it kept restarting itself. I tried to remove and re-put the battery, it still kept on restarting itself. My brother tried to do some stuff like clicking on the down-volume + power, but whatever he chose after that, a hat showed up and nothing happened for 30 mins. He tried again and again, the damn hat is all we got. So we decided to wait for my father to come home this Saturday, I took off my SIM card and left the phone, the next day I turned on the phone, it didn't restart itself, so I was happy and all, then I inserted the SIM card, it went back to restarting itself. I didn't touch the phone since then, but today, I took off the SIM card, and the phone is working well, I'm even writing this from my phone. So, what should I do now?
Oh yeah, I installed an AntiVirus a while ago (yes I didn't have one), and it detected a threat which I really don't understand: Unsecure privilege mode detected. Your phone is running in High Privilege mode (i.e., it has been rooted). We recommend using only genuine firmware.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Prior to antivirus installed, did the phone restarted itself? The first step, I would recommend remove the antivirus to see the problem still persist. Which ROM do you currently use?

With or without the Anti-virus installed, the phone keeps restarting itself as long as the SIM card is inserted.
ROM Manager v5.5.2.3

Are you using GB or ICS or JB ROM? ROM manager doesn't affect the restarting problem, I think.

JB. I'm using CyanogenMod.

What's your radio version? Look in the about phone for the baseband version. If you have the latest baseband version 5.08.04 then try to flash a different ROM to see the problem still persist, making sure you do full wipes before flashing.

Yes it's the latest version, how do I flash a different ROM? :/

How did you flashed JB ROM? The process is the same.
Sent from my Nexus One using xda app-developers app
It's my brother who had flashed it. And, he was trying to flash a new ROM but everytime he tried to, the ROM Manager's hat showed up and remained there forever.

Don't use ROM manager to flash a ROM. Flash it in recovery.
Sent from my Nexus One using xda app-developers app
Yes I know, that's what we were trying to do, but the hat shows up and nothing happens.

Possible Solution
I saw this problem b4, and there is possible solution.
Change the name "download" folder to "Download" in root directory, then FOTA again.
Try this out !!

As far as I know, if you rooted and done some modification to the /system partition intensively, you may get into this issue.
But how do we fix the problem??? Because I have the same issue as well

[Q] I'm an idiot and need help... bootloop/brick

Well im an idiot and hit the update for 4.4.3 without thinking when im rooted and have twrp.
Is there a way to cancel the update? I can get into the phone it boot up fully but after a minute or two it reboots to twrp What can i do to fix this??
LOL, same exact thing just happened to me so I guess I'm an idiot as well.
I had to shut it down and restart several times but it finally came up with a prompt that the update had completed (of course it hasn't, I'm still on 4.2.2) and seems be running fine now.

That worked for me but I just found another post that said to boot to recovery and clear cache. Try that.
