Since everyone complaining about the nexus 4 only offering 16gb as its max.
Name your current phone,
If your using a micro sd card in conjunction with your internal memory how much is it????
How much space you have available in your internal and external (if your using an SD card)
And in a few words what are you using your memory for (remember you do not have go into details just the bare minimum)
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S 2
SD card: 8GB
Internal: 3.92
External: 4.57
I have about 700mb worth of apps, app data...etc, 1.17gb worth of pictures and 3.80gb of music and SD is an complete copy of internal just in case of anything
On my Xperia Play where most of my data is (cuz my backflip sucks):
/data: 111MB/380MB used
/system: 144MB/312MB used
SD card: 11.2GB/29.47GB used
SDext: 210MB/228MB used
I am running duel boot on my s3. Have about 3 rom zips on here. All my pictures and about 170 apps and still 6gb left.

But I am uploading all my songs to google music + gonna use more cloud service. Data won't be problem cause I am getting T-mobile unlimited but little bit worried about the battery life when 4G will be on most of the time.
32GB SD Card - Full
However because I'm in the UK and we're getting Play Music I will be using GiffGaffs £10 (Soon to be £12) Goody Bag for unlimited data and using their (Googles) Cloud services. Play Music, Play Movies, YouTube etc This will free up about 20GBs of Video and Music.

16gb internal memory (500mb left)
32gb micro sd card (4gb left)
But as google music is coming to the UK soon and I have truly unlimited internet, 9/10gb of my music on my sd card will be streamed from google music instead.

I love the Nexus 4 but the max storage being 16GB makes it impossible to use. Very disappointed in their decision to limit it, especially in 2012-2013. This is the digital age after all, and cloud storage will rape your wallet when you're phone bill comes in if your not always in range of WiFi

so yeah. plenty of space. 16 GB Nexus 4 should do just fine for me.
I've got 23 available on my GS2 with 16 internal and 32 card, so I'm using about 25GB.
I think a lot of complaints are coming from people new to the Nexus line. I had the same concerns when I switched from my Vibrant to the Nexus S two years ago which actually had less than 16GB because of the partitions with system/internal storage. Currently I have a 16GB Galaxy Nexus with about 1GB left. About 2GB are music files I want to have on the phone in case there are connection issues. Pictures and Video take up another 3GB and most of that stuff needs to be sorted through and moved onto my main pictures/videos folder on my computer. Games and other applications take up the lion's share of space on my phone.
It did take a little getting used to at first, but you can easilly manage on just 16. I've been doing it for two years now. A friend of mine was going off about it not having a SD slot and how that was bad, then he said he had a 16GB in his phone because the phone itself only had 500MB internal storage. I lol'd so hard.
System: 1.12g total 769 available
Completely BS "Internal Storage" 1.4g total, 450mb available

So no, 16g doesn't cut it.

That's a 16g microsd card, for $10. And they sell it for $50.
I have 587MB free on my internal storage out of 8XXMB. I'm only using a little over 5GB on my SD card. I have pretty much migrated everything to the cloud so a 16GB Nexus 4 is perfect. I'd go with the 8GB version but that would cut it close.

I can guarantee that most people don't use 75% of what they have stored on their phones. I am using about 3gb for apps and I don't use most of them and never will. A bunch of Amazon apps of the day or games I don't ever play. If you just got organized you could make 16gb work and it would be well worth it.

Don't really know what's on my SD Card, but I know for a fact that I won't need more than the 8GB model. I don't really get the complaint for more storage space.
Want movies/tv shows? Store 2-3 at a time, it's not like you can watch them all at once.
Music? I have 40GB of music, and that's being conservative as I haven't retrieved all my songs from my old computer which would bring it to over 100GB. Short of a iPod Classic, I'm not carrying all my music anyways. Why not sync a few playlists/albums at a time, again you can't listen to them all the time.
Apps? How many apps do you really use? Same with games. Your phone can still fit a few large games and have space left. Although I have a Nexus 7 for games, so I have less to complain about.
All and all, 8GB is enough for me. I can see why people would rather opt for the 16GB, and I would have preferred a 32GB for myself, but really it seems like people are just searching for a reason not to buy this amazing phone.

I'm thinking of getting an 8GB Micro SDHC card and I'm curious what everyone else has loaded theirs up with. My real intention is a few programs, and for GPS maps as they tend to be quite large.

Everything. Maps, music, apps, roms, radios. Like I said, everything you can think of. Check ebay on the SD cards. Got my 8GB from ebay for $45 and it is a Sandisk. Not a knockoff.
My 4GB is full of music (mostly) and photos from the camera. I like to keep apps in the internal memory, there's plenty of it.
Thinking about upgrading to an 8GB just for some TomTom map space, not sure if it's worth jumping straight to a 16GB yet?
EDIT - just checked on the 16GB, and I guess not! Doesn't even seem to be available yet..
The 16GBs are rumored for June sometime I believe.
I totally forgot about storing my photos on the storage card, as for music I don't have a head set as the Tilt's didn't ship with one (i dont think) so I dont have a good way to really listen yet.
I wanna say I've heard of people storing wikipedia on their storage card as well. So I didn't know if anyone did this or something similar, or just other random things really.
i'm using two 2GB micro cards, one is completely full of music and the other i use to keep my cabs on so that when i flash i only have to reinstall them straight from the phone and that saves time, i have a few radios and a movie(transformers) but the movie doesn't play very well as we all know
mainly porn..................jk
I have a 4gb card with TomTom, 500 mp3s, and a few movies or tv shows. I put osme random installs on there but they never take up much compared to Tomtom and movies
maps, mp3s, movies, pictures
endless amounts of porn
hahaha jk
I'm sure theres a limit to the ammount of porn you can get on an 8gb card...
On my I store tomtom maps, music, pictures, a film or two and some random school work. It acts as a second USB Drive only people stare in wonder at my awesomeness with it!
what is this porn? is it a program?

Would like to see how you find a genuine SD cards on ebay. Cuz I know that 70% of memory cards on ebay are fake. Since the technology to make the card is not rocket science, they look 90% real. I bought 2 cards from ebay ( memory stick pro duo ) for my psp and phone but only the 2nd one is real. I am not that stupid to be fooled by fishy price , but only recognized that I got a bad card after 3 months of use and already gave him a + feed back.
Would you recommend the seller that you bought from ?
I have a trick to get a real card with low price but dont recommend it since its hardly legal
As for storage, I am not a big fan of music and movie so I only need 2gb. Half of it is for Tom Tom map , the rest are some songs, pics, documents and apps. Oh yea, few porn wouldnt kill the thing lol.

Those who got porn, should be commended for their honesty, seriously. I don't have any saved because there are sites where u can watch videos for free. I have a 8GB card loaded in Kaiser with 5.5 GBs remaining, lol. I have documents, music, videos, loads of camera pics, apps, and games. I may have to start saving porn (videos) to take up some space, lol. The 12 GB card (I hear) is currently available, 16 GB card will be available in June, and 24 GB card will be available by December or January 2009. Insane, lol. I won't be surprised if the 32 GB card sufaces in by late 2009.

Thank you for your post, I bought the sandisk 64gb card, formated it to fat32 and it works perfectly [in fact its a bit zippier than my previously full 32 gb card which i believe was class 4]. The card was a bit pricey, but well worth it. Thanks again.
i just bought one of these and it works fine in cwm, but is not detected in android, ive tried stock 2.3.4 and leaked ics, neither wants to know of the cards existence.
Solved:, poor formatting on my part.

When I purchased a 64GB Micro SD Card for my phone just before Christmas, it wouldn't work at all - Even when formatted to FAT32.
Its now used in an SD card adapter for my girlfriends Nintendo 3DS... So there's no chance I'm getting that back.
Can you provide the model of the card you purchased? I've got two 32GB cards for my Play currently, Both have exactly the same apps cloned between them but different caches for different games - So I have to swap over every time i want to play a game on the other card lol. xD (Most of the are ROMs mind you...)
Buying know thanks for the tip.
Fat32 can be formatted up to 2tb. That is its maximum

OK... I just got this card and transferred all the data from my 32GB micoSD to the new 64GB microSDXC... and the weird thing is that it is taking up more space on the SDXC than the SD... so I'm guessing that the problem is that it isn't formatted to FAT32... so how do I do that? Using Win7Pro, I don't see an option to format it to FAT32... any ideas?
I formatted this card with the phone but it is also possible to format it with a computer using third party format tools.
And the problem with the data which takes more space from your 64GB card than it took from your 32GB card could be related to the clustersize. Maybe the system chose a bigger size in order to have less effort to deal with the size of the card. However if there are files which are below this clustersize they are always as big as the clustersize. So the data needs more space.
Thanks for the tip I really gotta try this 64gb would practically hold my life lol

My phone has an annoying glitch where I move or delete files on the SD card, and the SD card shows that there's new space after deletion, but when I try to put in a new file, there's no space!
Every couple of months I have to transfer the files I wanna keep to my PC, then format the card to get the lost capacity back. I first noticed it when I tried putting some anime episodes on the card when it showed 2GB free, but then it said the card was full!
The aforementioned glitch only happens when I delete/move files through Android or when the storage is mounted to USB. Never happens when the card is plugged into Windows and being manipulated directly through an adapter instead of the phone.
If you guys transfer a lot of stuff on those cards, I'd suggest getting one of these
I have a red one and it's super handy when you wanna transfer, format etc. Plus it's got a keychain so if you have school, you can keep it on hand.
By using that instead I've avoided the storage issues.
Just wanna share my SD Card.

Sizewise 16 gb is just fine for me. But depends pon torre media usage. I shot a lot of 720p videos , have few movies and audio albums. At any time at least 2 nandroid backups. IGo gps ( 400 mb maps).
And still have nearly 2 gb free.
Price difference nowadays is hardly worth considering. It is cheap
If i was buying now it would be the same do i want to spend 18-20 euro for 16 class 10, or 30-35 for 32.
why should I need 32 GB on my phone !!! I really don't get it I think 16 GB is even way more storage and I will never be able to run it out

It's good to hear it! Is there any lag when using micro sd, doing something about micro sd? Playing games, looking for files, watching movies, listening music etc.
Such a hassle that you need to root your device first before you can do a workaround to install or move apps into the external micro sd.
awesome! I'm going to get my hands on one. still stuck with a 32GB SDHC atm, music and video files have never been larger
Also with app directory Bind can move the data you want on external sd in order to have more internal memory, very useful when you have installed several games thd occupying a lot of memory.

Not everything, only the apps installed on the old SD card. But is should work if you copy the contents of the old card to the new one. Or use a backup solution to restore apps on the new card (like Titanium).

I have no problems to.
buy on amazon.
i have the sandisk 64 gb bought for 46 euro
Someone asked about benchmarks with AnTuTu so here they are. I also used SD Tools and CrystalDiskMark (This gave approximately 20MB/s Read and 9MB/s Write sorry forgot to take screenshot). Each gave a very different result. I formatted the card FAT32 using fat32format (since it will not read exFat). Expected a little better speed as my 32GB Class 10 AData card produces better results (almost double the write speed). Haven't really noticed any lag and haven't had a chance to check battery usage. The extra space is good as I was filling up the 32gb card.
Is it just me or does it take a very long time to scan the media (both on card and on internal memory) at startup?
Hi guys, can somebody confirm that 64 gb card with exfat works fine on stock JB and Cm 10.1?
64gig

Up to 95MB/s (633X) read speed. Write speed up to 90MB/s (600X).
Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending on host device. 1 megabyte (MB) = 1 million bytes.
** 1 gigabyte (GB) = 1 billion bytes
-Featuring Class 10 for "3D" and Full HD† video (1080p)
-Engineered with UHS-I bus architecture
Does anyone have it?
If you don't plan to transfer content to that card with a usb-3 connection and a reader connected directly to the computer, it doesn't have sense to buy it.
The note it is limited to about 15mb transfer rate, so you will be throwing money out of the window.

Do you have a reference for that info? I plan to pickup a note 2 upon US release and was debating on waiting for the new Samsung high speed micro sd cards or going with Sandisk Ultra.

You really won't see much of a difference between the Gold and Ultra cards. The important aspect of those cards are the read speeds and it's absolutely overboard for a phone. Save yourself some money and just get the Ultra w/30mb read and you'll be set. No need for anything faster.

Yeah, just spend that money on the 64GB version of the Note II. I bet the flash chips they use in the note are just as fast, without the bottleneck of MicroSD connections.

I agree that the internal memory would be superior. The problem is that it is very unlikely 32GB and 64GB models will be available upon US release or even within a few months.

agreed. The Ultra card (30mb/sec) is the absolute fastest card you will need for a phone. You won't even take full advantage of its speed but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the Gold.
The only thing that will take advantage of write speeds when using the phone is how fast you take pictures and transfer files to the card from a computer. THAT'S IT. And technically even with that you will be limited to around the same speeds as the average USB 2.0 speed which is normally between 10mb-25mb/sec.
Don't waste your money.
The problem is many people just see whats stated on the package, and don't realize that to obtain the stated speed, you need the unit to support UHS I, and at present no phones support it, so the max speed for the card is read 25mb/s and write 24mb/s, which is the standard for micro sdhc and micro sdxc noted as the class 2, 4, 6 and 10.
Got the 64gb uhs I class 10 works fine write 11MB read 38MB second.
Where can I get a good deal on the Ultra 32 or 64. I know they can be much cheaper online instead of in stores.

Wherever you buy from make sure its an authorized dealer, if not no warranty and you are likely to get a counterfeit which won't have the specified performance. I like buying from amazon, but make sure amazon.com is the seller.

At the time of this posting amazon.com was sold out of the sandisk 64gb ultra. Ordered one from newegg(authorized reseller) for $62.
Excellent deal here on the 64GB
Here's a good deal on the 64GB Ultra on Amazon

Yesterday I bought this micro sd, and had a great problem. On next Monday I will send to the shop.
Your problem may be the fact that it isn't formatted correctly out of the box for your phone.

I ordered the 64 gb one that is linked above. Anyone have problems with the phone formatting it when inserted? I am running a custom ROM, and have seen a few posts on the forums with people having trouble getting it recognized and formatted correctly. Was hoping someone knew a good way to format it ahead of time in preparation of installing into the phone. Like a third party pc tool for example maybe?

Your problem is the custom rom. Same thing happened to me. I wasn't able to format it until I went stock. To avoid having to go to stock, format it with a PC.
