refreshes thinking that they are
speeding up the process. Time to
throw some light on it.
What you do?
You clicked on something which is
taking a while to load and there
you start refreshing it.
What you think?
It is going to speed up the process
as you are telling it to do it quickly.
Isn’t it?
What it does ?
U r actually giving another task to CPU by asking it to re print the whole page.instead of making processor faster u r delaying it. Refresh is just used to bring ur recent changes into effect immediately

Maybe that's why Linux doesn't have a "Refresh" button. (In Desktop)
Everyone knows if you press a button more than once it makes things happen faster. Example:
Calling a Lift - The more you press, the sooner the lift arrives.
Zebra Crossing - Even though the light is on, pressing the button again will definitely stop the cars faster.
Webpages - If that sucker refuses to load, hammer the hell out of F5 until it does.
Stands to reason if you ask me.

LMAO!! :laugh::laugh:
There can actually be valid reasons to refresh.
If a page has actually started loading, but is simply slow, then refreshing is going to gain you nothing. If, on the other hand, you have clicked a link and after 5 seconds or so nothing at all is happening then it can be worth refreshing - if you are on a network with an over-worked or badly configured router then it is possible for the DNS request to 'get lost' and hitting refreshing triggers the action again - how many times do you hit refresh on a page that hasn't started loading, only to find that when you refresh it suddenly flies onto your screen?

But hell no. There's no way I'm leaving mine on 24/7. No sleep/Hibernate. Just OFF. With 5 fans, lights, and watercooling, there's just no way. Fresh restart every time.

So I found this ridiculous: when you set your alarm in the stock alarm clock app, if you wanted to set your clock to say 8:50 AM, you'd obviously scroll the hour sign to 8, then you'd scroll your minutes sign to 50, except if you scroll "backwards" (because 50 is easier to reach going backwards from 00 than forward) it'll change the hour back to "7" like it's trying to be a real clock.
Now, is it me or is that obnoxiously stupid? Google is telling me, if I ever want to set my alarm (for example) for 6:59, I'd have to either scroll the hour to 7 then scroll back the minutes to 59, or scroll my hour to 6 and scroll my minutes forward from 00 to 59?
... what the dilly.
EDIT: This is problematic for setting time going forward too. If your alarm was already at, say, 10:50, but you wanted to change it to 12:10, you'd have to scroll up the hour up to only 11, then scroll the mins up 20 to make it 12:10. My inclination would be to scroll the 10 to 12, then the 40 to 10, but apparently no. (I also know you can just punch in the numbers, but, I just find this deal with the scrolling ridiculous).
why dont you just use the keyboardto set it? why is it a problem? yes it ticked me off a little too.. but not worthy of a thread

Its a digital alarm clock, not even a watch. My point is it shouldn't try to mimic an analog watch. it makes trying to set up an alarm feel ridiculous like Google is trolling us.

Setting the minutes first is a good idea. Thanks.
As I see it, onthecouchagain only brought up a problem he genuinely thought should have worked as would the natural mind. Don't see a need to make a hue of it.
The people that suggested sensible workaround such as typing it in and setting the minutes first ... well that's nice and appreciated.
There's no point in accusing someone of being silly or wasting time and space.
Take the case of the enter key being absent in the messaging app. True, users can get another app to do their stuff or they can press as many spaces as befits them so as to make it appear that an enter key has been pressed, but that does not take away the fact that it was senseless not to have the enter key in the messaging app.
Take the case of "the" phone or one of the other phones that does not receive or keep a decent signal. Again, true, the user could just step outside his home everytime he wants to make a call or have a signal booster stuck on his terrace. It however does not take away the fact that the phone itself has a problem.
All the OP did was point out a problem in the rational ... a problem that the devs could fix and / or help out with IF its brought to their knowledge.

It's not a problem or a bug. It's working exactly as it was designed and as most digital clocks I've ever used have also functioned. If he doesn't like the stock alarm clock there are many alarm apps he could download instead. I myself use Gentle Alarm. XDA is for development, if he wants to complain about life's minor annoyances he can take it to Facebook.
That was a really, really long post about a really, really small idiosyncracy.
I think it's annoying, but that's about it.

Mine drops calls when held in a lot less than the death grip. Sprint signal has always been marginal in my area but with this phone I need to be extra aware of how I hold it. I thought it was supposed to switch to the upper antenna during a call but I'm not sure...

Have you had any reception issues, or are you just looking at some bars?
The phone switches antennas to the top one when the bottom one has poor reception. Yeah, I can make this happen too, but I haven't had a single dropped or difficult call, so I'm not sure what the complaint is.

Try switching to EVRC-B as mentioned in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292530
Your dropped calls may go away.
I had this problem in a big way, especially with losing Wi-Fi if I rested my index finger on the top-right corner. Seems to have gone away by putting the phone in a $5 clear TPU cover of eBay. Protects the phone, prevents death grip, doesn't hide the beautiful design....win/win
What is the death grip? Is that when you grab your phone like a retard? Okay I'll make sure not to grab my phone like a retard.

Knowing where the antennae are would do a great deal to avoid this problem. The top right corner is where the wifi radio is. Don't hold the phone there for better wifi reception.
There are two mobile network antennae on the phone. One runs along the bottom of the phone, while the other is from the top middle to top left. Both run all frequencies, and are on-the-fly interchangeable. Try not to cover both locations at the same time, and the phone will adjust to the proper antenna automatically.

Sure... Use Google. Apple can appeal the ruling and the white house has quite a bit of time to intervene, which I no doubt Obama will just as he has in the past. And what the hell does me posting something have to do with this? Lol... I was unaware that I shouldn't do that as I see people posting threads like that all the time... Quit arguing over irrelevant things.
Under what circumstances does one hold a phone in a "death grip?" I pretty much rest the phone on my pinky and lightly curve my fingers around the back. It's not safe, but it's what I'm used to. Maybe because my hands are smaller.
Wow, people are certainly defensive here, and don't want to admit their new phone has an issue. This is identical to the iPhone 4 death grip, which didn't always cause you to lose the signal completely, but drop it severely. It's not just the signal bars either, you can see the actual dBm reading is far worse while holding it.
Can you still make calls? Probably, but the majority of us use data these days. Comparing a 4 bar to 1 bar of Sprint 3G service makes a huge difference.
I have a Note 2, and I can tell you that no matter what way you hold it the signal strength doesn't vary by more than a couple dBm.
What are these bars of 3G you speak of? Bars and 3G dont belong in the same sentence unless you are using an iPhone.
Guys,
Apologies in having to ask such a simple question but I can not find an answer elsewhere.....
I have never owned a Sony phone but am loving the idea of a bit of waterproofing and a dedicated camera button.
However, I do have an issue which is so basic I simply can not find an answer....
Presently I own a Galaxy S4 and like all the other Galaxy S models, to turn on the phone from sleep you simply press the Home Button.
In fact with the S4 there are a number of ways to wake up the screen:-
1. Press the Power button.
2. Press the Home button.
3. Use Voice wake command.
4. Use the Samsung Flip-Case which when opened turns on the screen (which I already own).
I can even wave my hand over the screen to activate important information.
What I am trying to ascertain is simply this ~ is the only method of waking the screen on the Z1 done by pressing the Power button on the side of the phone?
If this is true I just know it is going to be a big issue for me.
Having had the last few years with a simple wake up to then go back to a Power button on the side of the phone will not be pleasant.
I am otherwise looking forward to purchasing a SIM Free Z1 to go with my SIM Free S4.
Thanks in advance

The side power button is in a great position. I've had 30 mins with the phone. I think you would be fine. But there doesn't seem another way.
I will have phone again tomorrow and will check in settings. The Z Tablet had a double tap screen to turn on which was great.
Anything else let me know.

Hi Gavin,
Thanks for that snipet of information on the double-tap from the Z Tablet, it brings a glimmer of hope.
Listening to what both the other guys have been saying and your comment on the power button located decently it is giving me confidence.
As you yourself have the S4 and other Galaxy smartphones I am sure you understand where my queries were coming from.
In my busy schedule at work where hands and time are at a premium I do find it extremely easy and comfortable in not having to pick up the S4 to switch on the phone. I can keep one hand on my surgical instruments with the other to slide over to the Home button to power the screen.
Most of my work is done this way, I don't really wiant to have to resort to picking the phone up each time just to check something over.
Any further info you can provide will be greatly received.
I'm also pleased you are looking further yourself into the Z1. I know we have talked about it at lengths before and here we are again both at the same manufacturer.
Mike

The Sony magnetic dock might be the answer to your problem. Button on top edge. Easy to touch on and viewing angle should be excellent.

Hi Gavin,
Thanks for that snipet of information on the double-tap from the Z Tablet, it brings a glimmer of hope.

Umm what?? You chatting on Skype while in surgery?. But anyways, I'm glad you found a solution. I'm getting the Z1 aswell. But I'm waiting for the first few batches to go first. I never buy one of the first ones .

Hi!
My Note has for a quite long time now been slow, laggy and eating battery.
Didn't mind, had a car charger, suspected old battery and clogged storage.
About a week ago it came to a complete stop, taking 30 sec to open facebook.
And typing in Swiftkey an impossibillity, having keystrokes on a 5-10sec lag.
So finally i got a new battery, whiped the phone clean.
Flashed the phone with a fresh rom (Team Union JB XXLT4 V7)
Installed my apps manually, making shure no crap cache was brought.
Formatted internal storage and got a new 32Gb SanDisk Ultra card.
Fresh start, fast phone right? no.
Apps still unusably slow, typing on swiftkey impossible without lagging.
Battery from a full charge last about 6h with light usage.
Would like to stay on TW only for the MHL capability, but now i am open to anything.
Can't really afford a new phone, so if this can't get resolved ill switch to my old 3GS.
What do i do now?
What can i try?

The screenshots are from different days and scenarios, but changing governor or other settings gives me about the same result.
Just listened to som music, and some light surfing, thats about all. Battery blames is all on the screen and os about 33% & 33%.
YOu should try AOSP/AOKP Roms!!!
I think one of the apps you have is causing the problem.
When i had the same problem it turned out to be the podcasting app i had.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats&hl=en
Or go to the terminal and run top, see whats eating the cpu.
have you try to replace new battery ?!

Well, yeah couldn't find any original though, and don't want to wait weeks for a shipment, so got a copy brand "ENERGY" spacy logo and made here in Thailand. Only 2350mAh compared to the original 2500mAh.
Found that the new battery didn't really make any difference, about the same.
So worried i got new but crappy battery I'm now back on original, without any noticable change.
Considering getting a external charger and carrying the spare battery, that is not really a solution either.
Got get this phone working reliably soon, or i need to find a replacement.
Appreciate the tips, and ill try and make a study with "top" and get back to you guys.
Maybe i have a energy hog after all...
It's a pain in the butt, but it looks like the only way to resolve it is to do a clean wipe, then install each
app one by one, giving yourself a day or two of usage. Sucks, but it sure sounds like one app is
screwing up another one. Any chance you can (shudder) use a "memory cleaner/program closer"
after you use each app, to make sure it's closed as a test? Sounds like something sure is
interacting with something else.
USe Greenify and hibernate all apps!!!
Check your Google account settings. If you have sync Internet ticked disable it.

Really?
I thought my battery life was bad. 7h15m with 45 min screen time after charging my battery is at 67%
That is with wifi and bluetooth (with music playing) on and connected.
GPU overclocked and lowest step 200mhz(from 133 and max 400) and cpu up to 1550 Mhz.(okay, i did reduce the voltages, sue me)
and google location service on.
On original battery (dec 2011), that is about to die (screen starts glitching around 30%)
Somehow you are doing it wrong.
You would be surprised at what a speed deference you will get and battery life with aosp roms I have used tw and aosp and always go back to aosp based when tw starts to get laggy. But as most have said most likely a app causing your problem you should try install new Rom with all wipes inclueding preload I think thats what its called and make sure that media scan is not always running

I'm pretty dependant on my camera for my kids. From my readings of AOSP threads, the camera app has never really worked well? Or am I misinformed?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
I do not use the camera that much, but i have not had problems with it.
Focal does crash for me and makes me reboob my phone.

With a new battery original OEM just purchased yesterday, I am at 4h10m with 55 minutes screen time at 64%
This is much better.

Just an update everyone:
I'm currently at 7h15m with 2 hours screentime.
The battery is at 38%
I will have to chalk this up to a worn battery being replaced by a real Samsung battery and not a knockoff 3rd party battery.

How about tying to read or post on the battery thread in Q&A instead of posting new threads in the wrong section?
This didn't start out as a battery discussion

How about reading the first post AndroidSlave?
What's this snarkyness that's infected xda?
Shure wasn't around back in the WM days.
This is and or was a very "General" issue with my phone, as i am still not entierely shure is a plain software issue.
However i've made the switch to a or the PA-rom out of desperation.
Still too early too tell, as it is first day after flash, but feels smoother.
What is driving me mad on PA is the lack of lockscreen-homebutton-torch.
Also a bit dissapointed in "Screen Mode" dynamic mode missing.
Missning SPen->screenshot->notetaking is bugging me aswell, but i'm shure ill find some replacement thing for that.
EDIT:
You, know what.
I apoligise if i posted this in the wrong place.
And no bad intentions towards you AndroidSlave.
I just feel that it's the place of a MOD and not of a user to make these claims.
Please just use the report button in if you feel like this, instead of posting a retorical question.
I know, right? What's up with the uninformed snark?

I believe its the only way until coc manage its resolution scaling differently. And even then...on android 5.0 to 5.1 they display differently. Looks better standard dpi on 5.1 than it did before
Damn my s2 is late version and I was reading they don't have root for it yet
Sent from my SM-T817T using Tapatalk
Yeah, resolution is a little messed up. But my main thing is the screen is way too sensitive.... when farming, trying to drop multiple troops at a time just makes the whole thing zoom in... it's not even playable because the screen touch is way too sensitive... it's obviously more than capable of running Clash.. I just don't know how to reduce the sensitivity... maybe get a plastic screen cover or something....
Ive heard people say that aswell i dont seem to have that problem as much my thing is it looks soooo bad now im leasing a tablet that i dont even use basically cuz of how horrible it looks i usually just play on the phone and until they come ojt with lte version root i dont really have any options

Ive had the same problem. Hoping for a solution soon but there is a work around. If you reboot your tablet and start COC it will properly scale in full resolution and it looks insane on this tablet (i have the 9.7). Sometimes you have to reboot more than once but usually once will do it. As long as you don't kill the app the proper resolution will stick. If you kill it in task manager or hit the back button until you get the 'Exit Clash' prompt it will revert to low rez the next time you launch it. Every now and then (seems like once a week or so for me) it will randomly revert back anyway. So weird. Then you reboot and you're good again. FYI switching users on the tablet (multi profile) will break this which really sucks for me cause i have multiple clash accounts. Anyway this solution has kept me at bay. Hope it helps others.

Hey good call on that this thing looks amazing now that's so weird though I don't understand why it would do that it obviously has the ability to look good so what's causing it to go low Def makes me wonder.

Hi. Do you have touch screen sensitivity issue where you think you have selected a troop but the touch does not get registered on tab s2 8.0? Tried hard reset, still no luck.
