Movember - Off-topic

Hi guys it the month of November or as some as you may know it as Movember.
Men’s health is a cause I am passionate about but in order to make a difference I need your help. My commitment is to grow a moustache for the month of November and in doing so, raise vital awareness and funds for mens health including prostate and testicular cancer.
I am asking you to help support my personal journey by making a donation. The size of which isn’t important, every little contribution helps Movember to continue its funding of world class programmes. If you want to know more about what you’ll be helping to fund, you can visit Movember's Program Overview page.
To highlight the importance of what I am doing, take a look at these statistics:
• 1 in 9 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime
• This year 40,000 new cases of the disease will be diagnosed in the UK
• 47% of testicular cancer cases occur in men under 35 years and over 90% occur in men under 55 years
If you’d like to help change these statistics, please donate to me online at: http://mobro.co/jonathanfoster
For more details, take a look at the Programs We Fund section on the Movember website: http://uk.movember.com/about/funding-overview
Thanks in advance guys or at least for reading

You need a donation to help your moustache grow?

Then we can just donate directly to the charities that support prostate and testicular cancer and other men's health issues.

Fight Gone Bad 6
On September 17, 2011, CrossFitters from around the world will come together to endure 17 minutes of one of our most grueling workouts in honor of those men and women who have given a lifetime of service and sacrifice.
For 17 minutes, we will push ourselves further, challenge ourselves deeper, feel the doubt and wonder if we can make it, but then remember why we are there and appreciate fully those who we wish to honor. We turn to you, our community of friends and family, to join us by donating what you can or what you are inspired to give to two phenomenal organizations that provide immediate and measurable support without waste or delay.
The heart of an athlete can change the game.
The soul of an athlete can change the world.
Will you support my 17 minutes?

You survived that!
Thanks again for your efforts. These days Capitalism is just legalised greed, and keeps the money from reaching those who really need it. Charity work helps address the balance! Keep it up.

Call out to my XDA brothers and sisters

On 11-11-11 a 10 year old little girl very near to my home felt the need to commit suicide after she was repeatedly bullied at school. Her name was Ashlynn Conner. She was a very beautiful little girl who had a lot going for her. I am calling out to you, my extended internet family to please show your support for her and her family and join the anti-bullying movement I have begun. I did an interview for the Chicago tribune that will be published Thursday and her mother will be on the Today Show Friday morning. If you just search for Ashlynn Conner Foundation and show your support it would be so very greatly appreciated. Thank you very much...
I'm so sorry for your loss.
Several of my friends are depressed because they are repeatedly bullied to the point of attempted suicide. I feel your pain.
Rest in peace, Ashlynn Conner.

I'm sorry to hear this, well definitely look into supporting this foundation. Its real sad to see people die over bullying.

We will have an actual website up soon, we had to throw a page on facebook, just to get the ball rolling and the response is amazing. I knew my fellow flashers would step up, we r all geeks, til the jerk at work needs his phone unbricked. Lol. We are in talks with some very powerful government officials about amending some of the laws pertaining to bullying, but again we need your support, please search ashlynn conner foundation and youll see what I mean...
It's an outrageous travesty when teachers and parents turn a blind eye to incidents of bullying in schools, especially when it can so easily end up in tragic circumstances such as this.
If you have the opportunity to do so, please pass along our heartfelt condolences to the parents and let them know that there are those of us that wholeheartedly support their cause.
Kids will be kids and will eventually grow up, but i wish bad karma upon those adults who allow bullying to continue, right under their noses. Lets hope lives can be saved in future!
Ok,i think this is the point i stop with bullying...thanks,you opened my eyes :')

Support for Emily

A couple of weeks ago, a group of xda developers called the collective released an app that does nothing except donate to the American cancer society. The daughter of developer joedv was diagnosed with cancer and he was raising money for the Relay for life event.
Joe exceeded his goal, unfortunately his daughter did not survive to see him race. for those who still want to support a fellow developer, the app is still available and the money still goes to the cause of fighting cancer in Emily's name.

Waste of money?

What do you feel money is being wasted on? I'll start it off by saying "outer space exploration" is a waste of money. Please spare me the Tang crap. The minute this thread goes sour, I grant the Mods the power to close it.
Pretty much anything having to do with politics. The government would rather let Obama build stuff like basketball courts at the White House rather than supply our military with proper supplies and equipment. And I know this first hand. Former US Army 13 Bravo here. HOOAH!!!

Can i ask why?
War (Though I don't think this will be stopped because humans have been fighting since our existence)
I think far too much is spent on our military and not enough is directed towards national public school funds

Not as much is really spent as you think. We spend more money fixing things we destroyed than it cost to destroy it. But I do agree with you, not near enough is spent on education for children. That should be the biggest priority!

Waste of money??!
well you buy all types of PC's Laptops, notebooks and all!
upgrade it to the highest systems can apps it can be
alienware if all!!
use the most expensive gadgets for its
THEN RIDE A PLANE AND DROP ALL OF IT FROM ABOVE,HAHAH!

We already spend an insane amount per pupil and we are cranking out idiots. You want to spend more on education? Get Washington out of the picture. That is the answer.
Big Government spending: advertizing, oversea's donations, security, brainwashing, etc.
And this thread has instantaneously become a political thread, so...

American Cancer Society Donation

Here's a link to my page with the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Please donate, even if it's as little as $1. I recently lost an Uncle, My Godfather to prostate cancer and have another Uncle fighting the same fight. It would mean so much to me.
Thanks,
Jason

You know it's funny, I don't know anyone who has passed away due to cancer, or am related to anyone who has. As far as I know anyway. Cancer just isn't in our family.
Altho type 1 diabetes is. I am a type 1, my daughter is, and my father is. We're keeping it in the family. My daughter also has epilepsy.
Anyway, back on topic, even tho cancer isn't personal for me, I do make a small donation every year because you never know when you will have to kick cancer in the ass.
Props.
