The phone only got 200Mb memory and it always say not enough memory.
I checked it in App2Sd that it only has 25Mb internal memory left.
Many of the Apps cannot be moved to sd card.
What is the most common solution to this problem?
I've consider flashing a custom rom with it, but it would not solve the problem.
First u should get custom recovery for ur device.
Cyanogenmod/cyanogenmod-based roms have a default option to move ur apps to sdcard. Also, Changing from STOCK TO CYANOGENMOD roms requires accurate knowledge & precision. Otherwise u might face prob.

Root, partition your sd card and install link2sd. By far the simplest solution for a beginner. Leave Roms and scripts until you have more experience.

Can moving apps like whatsapp to sd cause any problems?
What kind of apps can be exactly moved to sd card?
Sent from my GT-S5830i using xda app-developers app
theoretically everything can be move. praxis shows that widgets do not work if moved to SD and some apps that run in background all the time might make problems.
i prefer WA on internal memory but i have FB messanger on external (ext4 on SD) and i also get my messages, so....try. as long as you do not move system apps to SD you cant do any serious damage^^
(just want to say: even if maps and stuff like that might be systemapps you can move them to SD. works for me and they are big as hell)
I already tried moving whatsapp to sd.. So far it works fine!!
What problems can it cause?
Thanks!!

in "worst case" you just dont get notifications by that app.
Can u tell me how to partition sd card exactly??

Step 1:
Via cwm recovery:
Advanced -> Partition SD-card -> select the partition size. -> select swap size(u should select 0) -> You get partition SD_card.
Warning Backup fro SD-card to PC everything before partitioning the SD card. You will lose everything present on SD-card.
via windows:
Tool Used: Mini-Tool Partition Wizard / Easeus Partition Tool (Both Are Same)
Delete the partition on your SD_card -> create FAT/FAT32 Partition(Size of this Partition = total SD-card size - Size of ext partition) -> create ext3/4 partition -> Hit apply.
Step 2:
Put the SD-card in your phone. -> Reboot/boot into recovery -> Goto mount/storage -> select format /SD_EXT Partition -> Go back to main screen -> Select reboot.
Optional
If you want to use ext partition for the installation of apps.
Then you should flash/install int2EXT+ scrip via cwm recovery.
Reboot and open settings -> Goto applications and see your internal space it will be around 158mb(ace original size) + size of ext3/4 partition.
Partitioning SD-card is IRREVERSIBLE so you are advised to backup everything which is on SD-card
Thanks to croniccorey for int2EXT+ script.
look for another app that moves to sd card i used this one called move2sd before using app2sd
I already have link2sd... And it works perfectly!
I don't know why apps2sd requires superuser permissions! It doesn't help at all..

First you need to root your phone and install from market link2sd....or install one custom roms and change in settings installation place, but for custom rom you dont need ext parition coz app can be installed directly to sd
Sent from my Shakira using XDA App
I followed the tutorial linked by istreva, and I also succeded in formatting and/or creating ext partition directly with the phone plugged via USB (mounted as a mass memory), without physically removing the SD from the phone and thus removing the cover (annoying for me).
Custom ROMs usually autodetect your ext partition and install your apps directly there, without changing any setting.
Moreover, I prefer to keep my apps in an ext partition rather than directly on the FAT, because I can plug in the phone as a mass memory without letting apps stop functioning

1) create a partition using CWM in advance section of recovery(swap size 0 M) 512 mb is sufficient
2)download app link2sd from market
3)open it...and choose partition type of ur choice (ext4 works well )
4)finally click on any app saved in internal memory and click on CREATE LINK
5)You are done!

Ext2/Ext3 is pretty much the same using default settings (unless you enable journaling in ext3). Ext4 adds journaling.
Ext2 is the most friendly for SD life. Ext4, not as much, but it has other perks (GIYF).
Also, you might want to show apps installed on the SD Card, select them all then Create Link first. It'll save you some extra space and re-enable widgets if available. Then you can move your internal apps if you want.

Once you have Link2SD installed, you can select "SD Card" as a filter. It will show all apps installed on the SD card. It would be a good idea to link these apps ("Create Link") (thus moving them back to phone storage, and then again to the SD Card, but to the 2nd partition this time) for three reasons:
You can move the dalvik-cache as well, which means you'll save extra space.
If the app has widgets, you'll be able to use them again (e.g. SoundHound).
Should you mount your SD card to the PC, the apps will still be available since the 2nd partition doesn't get mounted.
I've tested Link2sd.. Only Ext2 gets detected and mounted to be used in Link2sd.. Ext3/4 doesn't get mounted.( I'm using the Stock kernel)
On stock kernels ext3 and ext4 not always work, fat32 or ext2 always work. Its ok, won't make a real difference, the class of the sd card has way more impact on performance.
If you want you can create partition (with ext4) with minitool partition on your pc. (see this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=SD_card_partitioning)
Same problem, even if partition is formatted as ext4, Link2SD defaults to ext2. I have had a few times where it loses link by itself and all linked apps stops working.
Ext4
If you want to get your ext4 mounted. You must make a partition as ext4 to (I use partition wizard).. Not ext3, or ext2, or either..
I am sorry for my bad english..

Despite the urge to post this in Development just to wind people up, i actually need some advice/help so i'll follow the rules ..
Link2sd says that it can free up internal memory, and fair enough; it does. But i was wondering if there is ANY way at all to move the remaining data (located in /data/data) also. I only ask because even with all my apps on the second partition, i only have 49mb free because of the data from my installed apps.

The most "store all you can on SD" alternative is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124&page=69 lNT2EXT
You need to make a second partition on you SD.
To safe your phone memmory use Link2SD to moving apps to second partition of your sd card. Format your sdcard to two partitions: the 1st must be in FAT16/32 (depending on capacity of your sdcard) and the 2nd partition must be in ext2/3/4(i prefferd ext3 min capacity is 128MB max is 1GB=1024MB). And when you boot link2sd the first time you must select how is your 2nd partition of your sdcard to make a special script to automounting this aprtition and possible to moving apps and games to 2nd partition. To moving apps and games to 2nd parition you must select your app for exapmle ninja fruit or mxplayer and select link2d and the app from phone memmory is linked to your 2nd partition of your sdcard. To explore your 2nd partition better you use RootExplorer and is in /data/sdext2/. AND REMMEMBER TO USE LINK2SD YOU MUST HAVE INSTALLED ROOT WITH BUSYBOX!! I hope it'll help you. Sorry for my bad english
Hello.
My girlfriend's s5830i is always givin her the low memory storage error.
She has got Mindcr ROM, rooted, with apptoSD, and every app in the SD.
She hasnt got many apps, only over 10 (installed by herself). I have moved all contacts to her google acount, and I have deleted all SMS.
Can I made a partition in the SD for get more internal memory or something like that? I have heard that with ROM Manager app I will break the phone.
How can I solve this problem?
Thanks you.
Go into the cwm recovery then go to advanced. Adter that select parition sdcard. Then select the size and wait until it's ready. Then search in the development section for cronmod script and install it through cwm. It will move everything of your apps directly in the sdcard so you have just 1 - 10 mb use in internal memory.

Maybe some partition that makes the phone believe that it has got more rom or whatever. What do you have? When you install an app in the SD it takes some internal memory too...

Hi Folks,
Executive summary:
I'm trying to install an app that is around 30MB. I have 90MB of internal memory available. It won't download and complains there is not enough memory.
Gory detail:
I have a 32 GB SD card partitioned into 10GB (ext2) and 20 (FAT32) and I use Link2SD to automatically install apps on the ext2 partition. That is working fine.
There is an app in Samsung Apps, issued by the education department, that I need for my son's upcoming spelling bee. The app is around 30MB. When I try to download it, it complains that there is not enough internal memory and that I should delete some files, make space, etc.
Relevant information:
1. There is 90MB available on the internal memory and the app is 30MB.
2. The app should automatically be installed on the SD card anyway, and so not be concerned about the internal memory in the first place.
3. Other, smaller apps from Samsung Apps install without complaint directly onto the SD card.
The figure of 90MB is from Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and also from Link2SD > Settings > Storage Info. Same number.
The phone is rooted and running Gingerbread 2.3.6.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for getting back to me.
In setting up Link2SD, a new dalvik-cache folder was set up on the 2nd partition on the SD card and the default action for all new apps is to put dalvik-cache files there. There is still the old dalvik-cache folder on /data.
I used Link2SD to clear all the cache folders and got another 10 MB free of internal memory.
Running df in a terminal I get:
/data size-180MB, used-76MB, free-104MB
Which should mean that the 'old' dalvik-cache folder has plenty of room to expand and shouldn't be stopping the installation of a single new app. Again, of course, any new apps should have their dalvik-cache files added to the SD partition anyway, rather than the original one.
Is their something I'm not understanding about the dalvik-cache?
Thanks for the help.

You're right, smply I thought that your dalvik-cache partition was full and it was the reason you couldn't install anything, but it's weird :S :S :S
For this and many other reasons I don't like to use link2sd, I prefer int2ext+ script; safe, simple, fast, doesn't touch the dalvik-cache partition and keep /data in /data place
AFAIK Link2sd don't move "apps" strictly, It link apps to sd-ext partition, so a part of apps are installed in /data (internal memory) and the rest (the heaviest) in your sd-ext partition
It could be helpful

Thanks for your help.
It's my wife's phone and I'll be away from home now until next week, so can't pursue the solution any further just now, but I haven't given up!
I'll be back on this thread come Monday, and I'll definitely have a look at int2ext.
Thanks again.

It's normal I suppose due to Read/Write cycles, but it's better (less cycles) than swap partition (reduce your sdcard's life drastically)
Couldn't Install on USB Storage or SD Card
If, while installing your app, its showing "Couldn't Install on USB Storage or SD Card", then I've got just the solution. You could either fix it permanently, temporarily or do a method each time before you install your app.
Permanent Method
1) If your device is running on 2.2.1 or 2.3.6 android version, upgrade it to 3.4.5 ICS or 4.1.1 Jellybean. If the problem is solved then, don't worry, your problem has been permanently fixed.
Temporary Method
1) Backup your SD Card files and format it. Don't worry, it won't affect your partitions. I cannot guarantee you that this thing won't come up again. It may not but there is still a chance.
2) Before installing your apps, Go to Settings>Storage Info>Unmount SD Card. Select this each time before you install anything. Your app will be installed on to your Phone memory. After installing, Go to Settings again and Mount your SD Card. And of course, you could then Link your app to your partition or whatsoever...
I'll recommend Temporary Method 2 as it is would be easy for you if you're a newbie...Hope that this helped...Thanks:highfive:
