Y Cable Method Not Working - HD7 General

I have an HD7 with bootloader in the 5.xx series. I've bought a simple Y-Cable, female adapter, and 1gb sd card. Used the correct method to download the goldcard, format SD, and rename the .sbh file to SCHUIMG. I'm not sure what is going on but no matter what, no power gets to my card reader while using the Y-cable.
I even went the route of making my own Y-cable using a couple extra USB's i had laying around. I don't know what to do.
I DO get power with my card reader when I plug it directly into my usb on my laptop, but NOT through the wall outlet. BUt with the Y-cable, I can't get power through the usb drive.

If your not getting any power to the card reader... Try this,
Plug the power supply of the Y cable in first, then connect the card reader to the Y cable and lastly connect the device while it's in USB host mode.
If your still your not getting power to it, try switching around the connections on the Y cable between the device and card reader.
Also once you put the device into USB host mode and connect it to the Y cable and it doesn't start the flash process, you have to disconnect the device from the Y cable, pull the battery and re-enter USB host mode again for it to recognize the Y cable connection and re-start the flash process.
If it's still unsuccessful I would recommend trying a different card reader as this is the most common problem when it's stuck in "Enter USB Host Mode". I had the same problem with my card reader, I went and bought a SanDisk 5 in 1 card reader and the flash process started immediately as soon as I connected the device to the Y cable.

I've switched stuff around all different ways, got to be the card reader as the LED doesn't turn on when plugged to the cable..but will be on while in USB drive of laptop.
My y cable doesn't have a labeled power end.

TD Mini USB Port

Hi,
Is there any way to read a memory card from the TD's mini USB port. I have a small device that has a mini USB on one end and a USB on the other, inside this there is a micro sd card (I have pulled this out slightly, to show where it is). I can charge my TD with this device and I can see the memory card via normas USB but can't access the memory card from my TD, any ideas??
Thanks
The diamond does not have any USB host drivers, except in the bootloader, so it won't work.

OTA ICS: USB Disk mount?

when looking at the storage control panel, it lists internal, sdcard-ext, and then "/mnt/usbdisk_1.1.1" and says "insert an [sic] USB disk for mounting".
so if i were to come up with some sort of adapter, could i plug a thumb drive into my phone's micro usb port to move files between the phone and the thumb drive? i can think of plenty of times that would be useful!
Tried. OTG cable works with Samsung galaxy S2 devices (Skyrocket using either SKY ICS or rooted OTA) but haven't got it to work on our Droids...(Bionic ICS leak, RAZR ICS OTA, Droid 4 ICS OTA...all rooted).
But if someone can prove me wrong I'd be happy to "eat my words" ...

OTG works, BUT only in a very cumbersome way, since external power is needed.
A powered USB hub does not suffice, since it only powers the slave devices, not the host (= phone). The phone must be in charge-mode, which requires a Y-cable.
You need:
- an OTG adapter
- a USB hub with mini-USB in
- a USB Y cable with 2 normal USB plugs and one mini-USB out
Then
1. Connect the OTG adapter to your phone's micro-USB input
2. Connect the 'middle' USB plug of the USB Y cable into the OTG adapter
3. Connect the 'outer' USB plug of the USB Y cable to a charger (can be a portable battery as well)
4. Connect the mini-USB plug of the USB Y cable to the hub output
5. Connect any device you want to use to the USB hub
It looks like this (found this picture for Razr):

Edit: I verified it for Droid 4 last week, but didn't take my own picture yet. Works with ICS .215 leak, no 3rd party apps (like 'StickMount') seem to be needed.
Edit2: According to some other posts in this forums (search for 'OTG') it will only work for FAT32 formatted drives. Didn't check this in detail but my drive was already FAT32. Also I found it did not work for my cheap wireless keyboard's USB dongle, but connecting a wired keyboard worked fine.
...reminded again why I love this community...
...no possible links to a purchase of this "y" cable?

Glad I could help!
They come with some portable harddisks, so that's where I got mine. Not sure about the linking policy on XDA, please remove if not allowed. Here's an example:

USB otg not connecting

Everything was working well on my phone with my micro SD USB otg reader. Recently when I plug it in, my turbo either resets or doesn't recognize it at all. Happens to anyone else? What's the fix?

Phone will not connect via usb to PC

As the title says, i can not get my PC to recognize nor will it connect to my phone. It will charge so i know its connected but no matter what PC or port it will not allow me to open up the phone storage or SD card. I have updated USB drivers, its got the debug enabled, tried kies ( hate it) and different cables both big connector and micro connector. Just would like to connect and sort / clean out the phone. Any one have other ideas? its 5.0, july 2015 kernel.

using usb otg and charging at same time.

I have type C hub which have micro sd , sd , usb(for storage OTG) and micro usb slot for charging. It dont charge phone via micro usb cable if I use any storage device with it. but if i only put micro usb cable it charges. is there any mode which can tweak phone to do both ? my device is rooted and with RR os.
up anyone here xda member have tried ?
Everything seems to be pointing to the fact that charging and OTG doesn't work at the same time on Oneplus 3/3t and 5/5t. There's powered OTG cables, but these only power the external device and not the phone.
