I decided to try out the new cam... it has some bugs, but gopefully someone can fix it... Panorama works in original camera app, photo sphere works, as long as you don't want to compile the pictures... you can see them taking place, but it force closes on stopping.

to get Sphere working (copied from the other thread):
Use a root file browser/editor go to /system and open for editing build.prop
edit the prop files...
Ro.product.model change to Galaxy Nexus
Ro.product. brand. Change to Google
I personally used rom toolbox pro, so that i wouldn't mess anything up.
Photosphere?
Anyone managed to get photosphere working on this yet? I've been trying for days with no luck.

Looks like it will be easier for everybody if we have a separate thread for Captivate Camera 2.2 (Froyo).
Installation:
Copy to /sdcard

Flash zip file

No unfortunately, maybe somebody can shed some lights on how to disable GPS?
If i use root explorer to remove Camera apk/odex and CameraFirmware apk/odex on the leaked odin 2.2 build, will this work?
is the interface any difference? newer? got any screen shots?
Update. I added the files to system/app and removed the corresponding apk/odex files, rebooted and it worked. Its UI is setup different and personally I went right back to Stock because it does not have the HD Camcorder icon. I guess its a matter of style. Sorry i didnt take screenshots.
Same Captivate camera app but changed the icon to the Vibrants original black camera icon. In case you all preferred it. I installed this in Obsidian V4.2 ULF ROM. No problems.

Personally I like Captivate camera better because the settings is easier to use and more responsive. It's a matter of personal preferences .. give it a try, see if you like it and switch back if you don't.
I've updated OP with stock camera in case you didn't like it.
I installed the new CM7 rom + Gapps.
Everything worked fine but the CM's calculator & calendar are far from what i was used on my stock 2.3.5 GB rom.
I've asked this same question on CM forum but no one replied so i'll try to ask here.
How can i replace my calculator with my old one?
I've successfully extracted the calculator apk from my old rom and have it on my sdcard ready to be installed.
But for some reason i cant get it to install and i even tried to put it on system/apps dir replacing the old one without success.
i know this is possible because i saw someone porting the same calculator to a nexus phone
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522009)
with the apk from that post i could run and install the calculator but the resolution would not fit my screen
any help?
thank you very much, mornaistar

the calendar.apk that you got from old rom, put it in /system/app, now change its permissions using root explorer as follows
Read permission to all i.e. owner, group and others
Write permission to owner
rest unchecked..
after this reboot your phone.. this should work.. if it doesn't that means the apk is not compatible with CM7 firmware and you can search for some other calendar app that suits your needs
i've tested this and it wont work.
can someone port the apps for CM firmware? i know it's possible since xda users made it for other phones
i was able to run one of those ported apps in my galaxy s but the resolution was all wrong
I copied the stock gallery app from my nexus 5, and it works fine until i hit the pencil button to edit an image. If i try to edit an image, it force closes. What do i have to do to get it working properly?

Get a gallery app which is compatible with the Note 4 or
