[REQ] Nexus 7 UI on Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 - Galaxy Tab 2 Themes and Apps

Hi everybody
I would ask if there is a way to have the UI Nexus7, like on P3100
is it possible?
Thanks

I agree

I agree with you, a nexus 7 ui on the Gtab 2 10.1 would look like the Nexus 10, which is awesome, I'd love to see someone do it

My understanding is that the UI on the Nexus 7 is Phablet Mode. If you're rooted, you can run the ParanoidAndroid ROM and set the interface to use Phablet Mode and it should look just like the Nexus 7.
I think I've read that you can change something in build.prop to change a dpi setting in there, but that also requires root. The CM9 and CM10 threads will have discussion on this.

How please?

Really theres a way? I tried changing the DPI to 216 but it hangs on boot up, I have a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 running CM10, there is no Paranoid Android ROM for it.. I don't know why it would be cool if it was ported.

Tried this ?

I thought there was a way on the 7in, but I could be wrong. I'm assuming you have a 5113? Working on trying to get ParanoidAndroid built for that device. Will PM you a link to a .zip when I get it built if you want to test.

Cant you just force Tablet UI via ROM control on AOKP M1 , requires a reboot. I assume its has it , or is it just the 31xx builds that have dual functionality ( along with dual pane )
Could be wrong so apologies if I am.
Oh word of warning , on the 31xx builds you will get a bootloop first time you switch modes , just hard boot it and its all good. ( reported bug).

[Q] Android 4.0 Tablet UI for our big Galaxy Note Screen?

Hey guys I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467051
What do you think about it on our 4.0.3 roms? I think it would be great to have the tablet layout on our Note. Also the browser Tabs look better in my opinion
Do you devs think it would be possible to do port it for our roms?
We have tablet layout already. The aosp 4.0.3 rom has a flash able zip to enable or disable tablet mode.

hi there (first post here)
i tried the enable/disable zips i found in the description of this rom: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516515&highlight=enable+tablet+layout
enable tablet UI - http://dev.imilka.eu/android/tabletenable.zip
disable tablet UI - http://dev.imilka.eu/android/tabletdisable.zip
it worked like a charm but damn thats a tiny UI. i don't think anybody would like to work with this. - also there is much laag using the UI.

Yeah. it's risky. i think i just bricked my phone ... the system couldn't find the sim-card anymore (after returning to tablet UI disabled) - so no connection ... and now i tried for 5 minutes till i got into CWM and now i get an error on the nandroid backup (which i executed before i tried without error -.-)
i'm on romow @moment: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1365246&highlight=romow
There are some issues with the tablet mode and different launchers I think. But if u do tablet and turn dpi up to say 200 its better I think. I tried 240 dpi in normal mode and that was tiny so I have no interest in tablet mode. Plus I have one for that purpose
Sent from my Ice Creamy Galaxy NOTE
The tablet mode only works on AOSP.

For ICS we don't have any kernel development unfortunately. As for EQS, that is in SystemUI.apk and can be found in my build

Or i could be less fo a fool and just flash them in CWM as you point out in your thread!
EDIT: Think i must have done something wrong, my phone wont boot into sense now, i flashed the % battery mod and SystemUI for EQS and now i get systemui has crashed messages all the time, sense never fully starts and i get into anything! Disaster.....
Thoughts?
Which ROM did you grab it from?
Best way to install is by adb pushing it
Just reflash the stock ROM over the top. Should fix your issues.

Thanks, I grabbed it from the sense 4 load, hence the problems I made for myself. I decided to blank my phone and just go to your sense 4 final beta anyway. Eventually after a full format I got it back working. Just need to flash the extra quick settings and recent apps riles now and sorted. Thanks for your help

Yes think that was the issue. Thanks for your help, just out of interest, any chance of your final build having cifs supported in the kernel? Im just starting to teach myself how to compile kernels, hopefully il be able to contribute soon!
I personally don't touch kernels, but vertigo does. Not sure whether he will have time to do one.
I hope to soon start playing with them when I get some more time, but if you manage to make one then maybe I can bang it in

Sbrissen's CM10.1 for N8020 port 9/8/2013

Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for bad things that may occur as a result of flashing this.
NOTE: JB 4.2 will move anything in /sdcard to /sdcard/0 on first boot. If you revert back to JB 4.1 you will have to manually move things back
These are Unofficial CM 10.1 builds for the N8020 Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE.
Hi all,
Sbrissen and Darkman kindly allowed me the use of their hard work to port Sbrissens CM10.1 rom to our N8020.
I also include a zip to enable tablet mode if you want it and another zip to return to normal (thanks to autopatcher by Mateorod here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719408).
Head on over to the original thread to say thanks and/or donate and just hit the button for me as I don't do donations.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2333169
Also, thanks darkman for his install script which I modified the UI messages on and this uses the original optus modem software from my stock tablet rom.
Please remember I am not a dev and have only modified the basic stuff to work on our variation of the note 10.1 and as such will ignore requests. I have a very busy real life and will only keep up with original releases at my own pace.
It is recommended to flashed this in CWM .
Instructions:
-Download and copy rom to sdcard
-Download and copy gapps to sdcard (http://goo.im/gapps)
-Reboot into recovery (CWM)
-Flash rom
-Flash gapps
-Wipe data/cache
-Reboot
Known Bugs:
-May need to get a gps lock on stock before switching to CM in order for gps to work
-BT voice search
-The APN's will need to be manually entered from your stock rom to get internet reception

Everything working sweet on this rom, had a few problems with 4.3 keyboard so reverted to this rom.
Big thanks
I have also already tried this ROM, right now it's occupied by my wife playing some games, but seems to work properly, big thanks, @smegg!
Hi, just wanna share that this rom has proven, in 2 days of usage, to be absolutely bug-free and smooth as butter. Not a single reboot or glitch until now. Great job porting this over! And I don't miss the TW enabled s pen apps either, there's replacement apps in the playstore, (ie. Lecturenotes, papyrus, floatnote, GMD spen control etc....)
Going to try the 10.2 Rom again now. Couldn't get the root (despite doing the seven taps thingy) going and had sdcard read/write problems, during my first try.

[Q] SlimBean 4.3 or not?

Please tell me the disadvantages of having SlimBean 4.3 rom over the official rom. I want to make sure it would be worth the upgrade. I am on a very fine 4.1.2 official rooted n7000.
Would I be able to easily install and update apps like Whatsapp, FpSE etc on SlimBean 4.3 rom just like I do on official 4.1.2 rom?
You would loose Samsung apps, as s-note and s-whatever. Everything else would work fine (blazing fast too).
I'd also recomend you to try OmniRom 4.4 based. I use it as my daily driver and never gave me any issues.
Good luck

No. It depends on the samsung touchwiz framework.
There are some alternatives tough. I woukd take a look at papyrus. It is quite popular amongst AOSP users.

I have installed SlimBean 4.3 build 2.2 today.
Some questions:
- What is the default LCD Density of N7000? SlimBean shows 268 but what is original on stock rom? Things look bit blurred to me. Needs to be more sharp.
- How can I disable all window animations?
- Where is USB Debug enable/disable option?
Things that hit me right after install:
- The boot time is much slower than stock JB 4.1.2
- I miss the swipe to call feature on call log
- Which launcher to chose?
Will check game performance later with PSX romz on FpSE and Ravensword.

1. the default is 320
2. in Developer Options (go to settings -> about phone -> tap Build Number 7 times)
3. in developer options
1. It should be faster, much faster... I am currently running OmniROM and it takes seconds to boot up. The first boot will take a long time though.
2. You can't get that back, unless you use a dialer from the play store (but I don't know if any of them have it)
3. Your choice A lot of people recommend apex/nova. I personally like tsf shell, but it's extremely expensive

[Q] overclocking and interface editing exhibit T599n?[supernoob]

Hello, I am brand new to rooting. This is the first phone I have rooted. I am trying to improve its performance and and possibly change the boot animation and stuff. I used rom toolbox but it wouldn't change my boot. And all overclocking apps cqn only underclock it. Does anyone know if it cqn be overclocked? And how to change the boot animation? I already improved space using gl to sd, but I haven't found any forums on overclocking qnd and boot animation. Please help this noob. And thank you
You can use Boot Box (look it up on Google Play) to change your boot animation. To overclock your CPU, you're going to need a supported kernel, which isn't available at the moment. Overclocking won't be possible on your device unless someone releases a kernel which supports it.
By the way, you have posted this thread in the wrong forum section.

Yes, the device is rooted, I have supersu enabled. And my device is currently stock rom. However I can't seem to change much. I tried to change the notification background using rom toolbox and that also didn't work. It seems as though my Device uses qmg files

Of course not. If it says 4.2, it's for 4.2 (always read the OP carefully) & so on. If you know what you're doing, you won't brick your phone, for sure
