Please tell me the disadvantages of having SlimBean 4.3 rom over the official rom. I want to make sure it would be worth the upgrade. I am on a very fine 4.1.2 official rooted n7000.
Would I be able to easily install and update apps like Whatsapp, FpSE etc on SlimBean 4.3 rom just like I do on official 4.1.2 rom?
You would loose Samsung apps, as s-note and s-whatever. Everything else would work fine (blazing fast too).
I'd also recomend you to try OmniRom 4.4 based. I use it as my daily driver and never gave me any issues.
Good luck

No. It depends on the samsung touchwiz framework.
There are some alternatives tough. I woukd take a look at papyrus. It is quite popular amongst AOSP users.

And as usual, take a backup before flashing a new rom.

I have installed SlimBean 4.3 build 2.2 today.
Some questions:
- What is the default LCD Density of N7000? SlimBean shows 268 but what is original on stock rom? Things look bit blurred to me. Needs to be more sharp.
- How can I disable all window animations?
- Where is USB Debug enable/disable option?
Things that hit me right after install:
- The boot time is much slower than stock JB 4.1.2
- I miss the swipe to call feature on call log
- Which launcher to chose?
Will check game performance later with PSX romz on FpSE and Ravensword.

1. the default is 320
2. in Developer Options (go to settings -> about phone -> tap Build Number 7 times)
3. in developer options
1. It should be faster, much faster... I am currently running OmniROM and it takes seconds to boot up. The first boot will take a long time though.
2. You can't get that back, unless you use a dialer from the play store (but I don't know if any of them have it)
3. Your choice A lot of people recommend apex/nova. I personally like tsf shell, but it's extremely expensive

Hey guys I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467051
What do you think about it on our 4.0.3 roms? I think it would be great to have the tablet layout on our Note. Also the browser Tabs look better in my opinion
Do you devs think it would be possible to do port it for our roms?
We have tablet layout already. The aosp 4.0.3 rom has a flash able zip to enable or disable tablet mode.

it worked like a charm but damn thats a tiny UI. i don't think anybody would like to work with this. - also there is much laag using the UI.

Yeah. it's risky. i think i just bricked my phone ... the system couldn't find the sim-card anymore (after returning to tablet UI disabled) - so no connection ... and now i tried for 5 minutes till i got into CWM and now i get an error on the nandroid backup (which i executed before i tried without error -.-)
i'm on romow @moment: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1365246&highlight=romow
There are some issues with the tablet mode and different launchers I think. But if u do tablet and turn dpi up to say 200 its better I think. I tried 240 dpi in normal mode and that was tiny so I have no interest in tablet mode. Plus I have one for that purpose

Hi and Welcome to everyone.
I just joined this forum. I came across it a few weeks back and have been reading alot. Thanks to everyone for all the information and help I have received through reading different post.
I have the Galaxy GT-I9000 phone and started using the C-Rom Mix starting at version 6. They have now updated to version 8. I just installed it and everything is working great except I am getting alot of lag. It is very slow and many times if I try to hit the back button my application will just freeze and do nothing.
Does this version not have the Kill feature when you hold the back button, I used to like that feature.
Anyways, if I have to I will go back to version 6 or 7 but I really like to stay up on everything. Does anyone have any advice?????
Thanks
Brian
Yes it has kill app back button in settings/developer options
I'm using also the same Rom, i made the following settings to make my phone lag-free:
1. Set max 3 processes in Settings/Developer options
2. Installed a memory optimizer to keep my free Ram at a certain level
3. Disabled the PM Sleep mode also in Settings/Developer options

Thank you so much. I really like the kill feature and couldn't find it at all. If you don't mind me asking what launcher do you use. I am using Go Launcher. I really like it and all its features but I am wondering if this is also a reason for some of my lag?

I'm using Lightning Launcher. I like its simplicity yet at the same time very fast. It's features are very useful to me and very easy to use.
I don't think Go Launcher is the cause of your lag. But although Go Launcher is very good cosmetically and also fast, i read many users are complaining about its robustness, too many features added that are mostly bloatware which make the application heavy on disk and RAM usage.
Try re-flashing the Rom using the steps below, these are what i'm doing everytime i flash, although maybe some steps are redundant, they can do no harm:
1. Wipe data
2. Wipe Cache
3. Wipe dalvik cache
4. Clear NSTools settings
5. Clear Semaphore settings
6. Clear init.d
7. Format /system
8. Flash "Ultimate kernel cleaning script"
9. Flash the new Rom
10. Fix permissions
It is also advisable to flash a CM9 ICS first if you're coming from GB before flashing a JB Rom.
Hope this helps.

hi!
Sorry for posting my question here
I'm also experiencing an issue with the rom. It doesn't lag/freeze or fc.
I just can't get Google Play to work anymore.
Initially when I just flashed the rom with a full wipe (format system, wipe data/fs, etc..), Google Play didn't work.
I went to apply the fix on OTA and it worked again. But now suddenly, it can't connect to the internet anymore, I checked, the connection is fine, but Play Store can't connect.
Somebody help please!! :crying:
Clear the data of Google Play and Google Services apps in Settings/apps.
If it doesn't help, flash the Multi DPI Google Play app included in C-RoM addons, then flash Google play fix also in addons.

Currently the latest version is JB 4.2.1 C-RoM Mix v4.

Thanks, I have filled my shopping basket and downloading ROM + add ons as I speak :highfive:
I made an AOSP Lockscreen Toggle Made for the Note II and ported it over to the Note 10.1.
Let me know how it goes for you and I will try to work out any bugs and any mods I make for the Note II I will try to add to this as well if possible.
You need to flash both files for it to work. and don't forget to Backup.

Works
It works, I just wish that we can edit function on the lock Screen, instead of being confined to unlock, Camera, and google .

After testing this for awhile on Resurrection Rom, I can say that it freezes my tablet 40% of the time, so I disable it. I use HOLO lock screen now to mimic AOSP lock screen.
Not working on Dr. Akrim's v8 rom (4.1.2)
Still get the water effect after flashing both these files in recovery.
Guess this was not for 4.1.2, right?
Thanks anyway
EDIT:.....hmm, the OP does say it's for 4.1.2 - well, I could not get it to work in Dr. Akrim's v8 ROM

I flashed this running on N8013-UEUCMA3-ARCMA3-XAR-deodexed ROM
After I flashed it, I'm getting some weird things like
Manage Accounts have "Push Subscriptions" instead of Gmail syncing
When changing fonts its says "More Fonts" for setting the fonts
I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing this issue
is there a certain order that these zips need to be flashed in? Do I have to reboot after each flash or can I flash both at the same time?
I really like this MOD, seems I don't know how to acurately unlock using the stock unlock method haha
EDIT:
Wiped, clean flashed the rom, checked and everything was good
Flashed the AOSP Lockscreen MOD and everything I mented before was broken
I also have this MOD installed N8013UEUCMA3-UnlimitedAppsMod just to let you know
Thank you in advance for letting me know if this is a me problem or a bug with this mod...
Any chance of getting this ported for XXCMC5?
Unlocking is not working. Im on ARHD rom. Weird.
Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for bad things that may occur as a result of flashing this.
NOTE: JB 4.2 will move anything in /sdcard to /sdcard/0 on first boot. If you revert back to JB 4.1 you will have to manually move things back

Hi all,
Sbrissen and Darkman kindly allowed me the use of their hard work to port Sbrissens CM10.1 rom to our N8020.
I also include a zip to enable tablet mode if you want it and another zip to return to normal (thanks to autopatcher by Mateorod here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719408).
Head on over to the original thread to say thanks and/or donate and just hit the button for me as I don't do donations.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2333169
Also, thanks darkman for his install script which I modified the UI messages on and this uses the original optus modem software from my stock tablet rom.
Please remember I am not a dev and have only modified the basic stuff to work on our variation of the note 10.1 and as such will ignore requests. I have a very busy real life and will only keep up with original releases at my own pace.
It is recommended to flashed this in CWM .
Instructions:
-Download and copy rom to sdcard
-Download and copy gapps to sdcard (http://goo.im/gapps)
-Reboot into recovery (CWM)
-Flash rom
-Flash gapps
-Wipe data/cache
-Reboot
Known Bugs:
-May need to get a gps lock on stock before switching to CM in order for gps to work
-BT voice search
-The APN's will need to be manually entered from your stock rom to get internet reception

Hi, just wanna share that this rom has proven, in 2 days of usage, to be absolutely bug-free and smooth as butter. Not a single reboot or glitch until now. Great job porting this over! And I don't miss the TW enabled s pen apps either, there's replacement apps in the playstore, (ie. Lecturenotes, papyrus, floatnote, GMD spen control etc....)
Going to try the 10.2 Rom again now. Couldn't get the root (despite doing the seven taps thingy) going and had sdcard read/write problems, during my first try.

My N8000 has been so laggy these last weeks that even going back from apps list to the home screen could easily take 30 seconds, and even cause it to reboot.
I prefer to have it usable under KK rather than up to date (LP, MM) and useless.

U will have to go back to a stock rom.
1.- Go to sammobile and download a stock 4.4.2 rom for this tablet, u can download the same base this rom is made of ( N8000XXUDPB1 for Luxembourg ).
2.- Then root, flash a custom recovery (I recommend Philztouch), make a full nandroid backup just in case.
3.- Flash this rom.
That's it.
Thanks dude. All went well. Up and running, smooth and fast. ?
