Hi and Welcome to everyone.
I just joined this forum. I came across it a few weeks back and have been reading alot. Thanks to everyone for all the information and help I have received through reading different post.
I have the Galaxy GT-I9000 phone and started using the C-Rom Mix starting at version 6. They have now updated to version 8. I just installed it and everything is working great except I am getting alot of lag. It is very slow and many times if I try to hit the back button my application will just freeze and do nothing.
Does this version not have the Kill feature when you hold the back button, I used to like that feature.
Anyways, if I have to I will go back to version 6 or 7 but I really like to stay up on everything. Does anyone have any advice?????
Thanks
Brian
Yes it has kill app back button in settings/developer options
I'm using also the same Rom, i made the following settings to make my phone lag-free:
1. Set max 3 processes in Settings/Developer options
2. Installed a memory optimizer to keep my free Ram at a certain level
3. Disabled the PM Sleep mode also in Settings/Developer options

Thank you so much. I really like the kill feature and couldn't find it at all. If you don't mind me asking what launcher do you use. I am using Go Launcher. I really like it and all its features but I am wondering if this is also a reason for some of my lag?

I'm using Lightning Launcher. I like its simplicity yet at the same time very fast. It's features are very useful to me and very easy to use.
I don't think Go Launcher is the cause of your lag. But although Go Launcher is very good cosmetically and also fast, i read many users are complaining about its robustness, too many features added that are mostly bloatware which make the application heavy on disk and RAM usage.
Try re-flashing the Rom using the steps below, these are what i'm doing everytime i flash, although maybe some steps are redundant, they can do no harm:
1. Wipe data
2. Wipe Cache
3. Wipe dalvik cache
4. Clear NSTools settings
5. Clear Semaphore settings
6. Clear init.d
7. Format /system
8. Flash "Ultimate kernel cleaning script"
9. Flash the new Rom
10. Fix permissions
It is also advisable to flash a CM9 ICS first if you're coming from GB before flashing a JB Rom.
Hope this helps.

Thank you so much, I did everything you said above and reflashed with C-rom V8 and my phone is running so smooth now...Thanks Again,
hi!
Sorry for posting my question here
I'm also experiencing an issue with the rom. It doesn't lag/freeze or fc.
I just can't get Google Play to work anymore.
Initially when I just flashed the rom with a full wipe (format system, wipe data/fs, etc..), Google Play didn't work.
I went to apply the fix on OTA and it worked again. But now suddenly, it can't connect to the internet anymore, I checked, the connection is fine, but Play Store can't connect.
Somebody help please!! :crying:
Clear the data of Google Play and Google Services apps in Settings/apps.
If it doesn't help, flash the Multi DPI Google Play app included in C-RoM addons, then flash Google play fix also in addons.

Actually the C-RoM Mix v8 discussed in this thread is still the old JB 4.1.2 version.
Currently the latest version is JB 4.2.1 C-RoM Mix v4.
Device: GT-i9000
Rom: JB 4.2.1 C-RoM Mix v4
Kernel: Mackay 0.231
Baseband: I9000BVJJPG

Thanks, I have filled my shopping basket and downloading ROM + add ons as I speak :highfive:
Related
I'm posting in this forum and not the official thread because I don't yet have the requisite number of posts to post in development forums.
I installed GalaxianSoup beta 1.7.3 last night and it's a great ROM. Must quicker and better than the stock experience. This ROM is almost capable of being my daily driver except for one particularly crippling problem. It occurs when I long press on any item on my homescreen. Rather than allowing me to move, remove, or resize the item, it instead causes the screen to quickly go blank, change orientation, and then return to the original orientation. So, basically, it prevents me from making changes to my homescreens. When I long press on a blank area, it behaves properly. This problem only occurs when I long press on an icon or widget.
Any ideas?
Update:
I can eliminate this problem by locking the screen orientation. If all else fails, I suppose it's not TOO big of a hassle to lock the orientation before making changes to my homescreen, but I'd rather find a fix instead of a workaround.
Thats very strange, i have never seen or heard about this problem. I can resize/move/create folders without any problems.
You are using the stock launcher, correct? Did you wipe data, cache and dalvik when you installed the rom? Did you restore anything?
Have you tried to clear Launcher cache and data?
Clearing Trebuchet's data and cache fixed it for me. Thanks a million.

Are you sure you are using Galaxian Soup rom? Our AOSP rom uses stock ICS launcher. Trebuchet is CM launcher.

I have always been able to move/resize widgets and create folders on homescreen. This should work on all versions of Galaxian Soup AOSP roms. What exactly doesn't work for you?
I can move them around, that's pretty much it.
Was seriously missing the resize feature from CM9 SGS2, but this rom was so smooth with everything else. Maybe I should try flashing 1.7.3 and see what happens.
Is wiping data a necessity when changing rom on the tab? Got that impression from one of the last posts in the developer thread.

Resize widgets was intoduced in android 3.1 if i remember correctly. It has always worked for me. Of course the widget has to support it too.
You can create folders if you move one icon on top of the other. Thats a Android 4.0 feature.
I updated from aosp 1.6.4 to 1.7.3 without data wipe. Just wipe cache and dalvik. Dont forget to install the same version of gapps that you had on 1.6.4.
If you are coming from any other rom then im afraid you have to wipe data also.
I'll try a update and see what happens..

Ok, that makes more sense. I thought you are using our AOSP build because you have AOSP rom version number in topic of this thread.
I second this on the aokp, though using apex launcher. The problem usually goes away after a reboot.
I decided to create a new thread solely for Q/A and for people who are exeriencing issues running LANIGHT. Many issues can be solved by flashing different kernel/patch/fix/modem or going back to stock.
Try flashing DarkyRom RE: http://www.darkyrom.com/index.php?th...aptivate.6062/ (Captivate guide)
Then flash JB on it with proper instructions.
When an application crashes I get the option to close it or report the crash. When I click to report the crash it then says that the Play Store crashed. Is there a fix for this?
Still have ringtone issue
I installed 6.5 dd and all went well, but I still have the disappearing ringtone issue. Tried the fix and didn't work. I came from 4.2 dd. Any comments on how to try to fix this? This ROM is great.

Did you try flashing semaphore or flashing the rom with a complete wipe? People reported flashing the different kernel sometimes fixes it... Not sure if it's kernel related which is highly unlikely.
I ran the rom with no issues. I remember it was an issues back in 4.2DD but it was gone when i applied the fix... Not everyone that flashed reported that issue maybe that's why i never got serious about it.
Lockscreen wallpaper image?
is there a way to set a different wallpaper image to the lockscreen?
I can't seem to find this option in the Lanigh 6.5 rom.

Same here, but I have to confess that I made a dirty flash wiping dalvik cache only. I'll try to make a full wipe to see what happens.

I followed instructions from the OP, full wipe 3 times...format individual system/data/datadata/cache/dalvik. Haven't tried semaphore, I like devil ever since team nyx's 4.0.3. With this ROM I have never had wifi issues, since v1. Besides the disappearing ringtones, gallery pictures also disappear just leaving online pics...no FC though. I use quikpic so no biggie.

No luck. Actually it it's worse, since before flashing I had access to standard ringtones, those that come with the ROM, but not those which I created by myself. After flashing, all ringtones disappeared. Tried with the ringtones patch, but also no luck.
Next step, it's to find semaphore and flash new kernel. Any clue where I can download it?
Another repeating issue that occurs to me is the FC in the messages app.
EDIT: I've foud Semaphore and flashed it with Odin. I couldn't check if it solved the ringtone issue, since after apply this kernel, I had two severe issues: my screen rotated 90° to the right and the external-sd was not recognized. I've cleared cache, dalvik, fixed permissions and no luck.
Going back to 4.2 by now.

Loving the ROM so far. Finally decided that I don't need most of the customization options offered by other JB roms. however, I do miss the battery percentage. Any way to enable that, maybe through a theme or app?
EDIT: sneaky ba$terds, hiding it in the display options.... Looks awesome now. Found a new fav daily driver!
I installed new devil kernes 1.7.4VC and did not loose sound as others are posting. I wiped cache / dalvik & reboot recovery.
P.S. version 1.7.5 fixes the sound accourding the kernel thread.

In a week ive took a Captivate i897 from stock froyo 2.2 to cwmR to Devil kernel 1.6.1 <- which I really like. I first installed CM10 and was satisfied but got to reading around and flashed LAnight 6.5 DD last night (the proper way explained on thread). only played with it for a few hours and loved its speed. But today ran into problem with changing lock screen background image to custom image.
** is there a permanent fix for this, i dont always have my pc with me.
--Also noticed in both CM10 and LAnight 6.5DD, I can only turn on Bluetooth, is there a way to configure it like settings menu in stock froyo .?.
*edit, figured it out, long press WiFi or Bluetooth opens sub menu for settings, DuH. Im a Android Newb.

You don't need to download Devil kernel manager if you don't want to. It's somewhere in the settings (different Lanight versions have it hidden in different places...).
Probably, under settings -> developer options
Or settings -> extras
Or settings -> tvout
Or there's a galaxy s app...
Maybe there are more places I hid it in different versions lol I had to move things and its as unorganized as my rom thread :/

However I did not find feature request section

However could you please include Russian T9 letters in dialer in future releases?
Thank you very much in advance

Very weird problem when on lanlight (or any JB rom)
I installed V6.5DD using the exact method you wrote on the OP. I was coming from CM9, it booted up correctly and everything works great except three things: 1) i have no lock screen (it is checked) 2) I don't get any notifications, whatsoever(i can pull it down, but i hear an email or sms come in and nothing appears) 3) when i hold the home button the recent apps don't show.
I formatted everything again and re flashed, same exact problem.
What should i do? everything worked well on cm9
please help if you can.
I installed different JB roms and none worked.
I decided to go back to CM9, and guess what? none of those thing i outlined works.
It looks i have to odin back to stock. Can anyone please help me
sincerely,
Thatguy

Alright. I have a working phone remover. The deny signal is gone. The phone stuff is gone. Only problem is the device reboot when trying to bring up the power menu. So I guess we can't remove mobile data from the settings. Unless I or someone from here can figure something out. Anyways, now I''ll try to add flare effect and fix the mic and stuff.

Not working on 3100
on Booting the message "android.phone" has stopped and "android.gapps" has stopped pops every second. Cant even get through the setup process.
Procedure which i followed was from cm 10.1.2
Wipe data-> wipe cache->wipe dalvik->install rom->wipe cache->wipe dalvik and reboot.
going back to cm now.
Thanks.
I have the P3113 and simply go into systemui.apk and remove all signal icons. I also remove all the battery icons simply because I prefer the bat %. I know this does not remove the phone stuff itself but it does get rid of the icons in the Noti bar without any errors.
Not the best way but it works.
fast and smooth but i have an problem after flashing there is no gallery app

Please tell me the disadvantages of having SlimBean 4.3 rom over the official rom. I want to make sure it would be worth the upgrade. I am on a very fine 4.1.2 official rooted n7000.
Would I be able to easily install and update apps like Whatsapp, FpSE etc on SlimBean 4.3 rom just like I do on official 4.1.2 rom?
You would loose Samsung apps, as s-note and s-whatever. Everything else would work fine (blazing fast too).
I'd also recomend you to try OmniRom 4.4 based. I use it as my daily driver and never gave me any issues.
Good luck

No. It depends on the samsung touchwiz framework.
There are some alternatives tough. I woukd take a look at papyrus. It is quite popular amongst AOSP users.

I have installed SlimBean 4.3 build 2.2 today.
Some questions:
- What is the default LCD Density of N7000? SlimBean shows 268 but what is original on stock rom? Things look bit blurred to me. Needs to be more sharp.
- How can I disable all window animations?
- Where is USB Debug enable/disable option?
Things that hit me right after install:
- The boot time is much slower than stock JB 4.1.2
- I miss the swipe to call feature on call log
- Which launcher to chose?
Will check game performance later with PSX romz on FpSE and Ravensword.

1. the default is 320
2. in Developer Options (go to settings -> about phone -> tap Build Number 7 times)
3. in developer options
1. It should be faster, much faster... I am currently running OmniROM and it takes seconds to boot up. The first boot will take a long time though.
2. You can't get that back, unless you use a dialer from the play store (but I don't know if any of them have it)
3. Your choice A lot of people recommend apex/nova. I personally like tsf shell, but it's extremely expensive

Why call this rom the PlayStore Rom? Because this rom features absolutely nothing, thats the beauty of it! If you want something your going to have to get it from the PlayStore. You can customize it any way you want. The rom boots and you can make a phone call and get on the playstore thats about it. So have fun!

You must decide if you want to use Google IncallUI or Samsung InCallUI. Samsung InCallUI will allow too still receive and switch to video calls and the google IncallUI will only support HD calling. To switch to google IncallUI goto settings/applications click on default applications choose calling app and click on the blue phone app. To switch back to samsung IncallUI is a little more complicated. You will need an app like root explorer and goto data/system/users/0 and then findthe setting_secure.xml and delete and then restart phone. This will restore samsung IncallUI as default
You will also want to turn edge features off since everthing is deleted
Also you need to goto SuperSU app and goto settings and click on enable su during boot and also click trust system users
Goto this thread and under Recommended Next Steps find the S7_or_S7Edge_Fixes_V15.zip or latest version and flash to fix kernel lage and doze fix.
Goto setting/about phone
Click on build number 5 times to enable developer options
Change animation and duration scales to .05 this will speed up phone
You will also have to change charging/file mode from within developer options
Remember Wiping Dalvik cache will cause phone to take up to 10 min to boot on deodexed roms
If using samsung IncallUI here is a fix for call phone FC and also location service fix

@jkruse Thanks bro appreciate your efforts. One favor, do you know where the Olympic theme is located on your first Rom? (Which folder?) I'm going to extract it from the other version and install it in this one. For some reason its not on the Samsung theme store.

I didnt mean for my reply to come across rude. I just thought since the OP looks like the other one you thought it was the same. This is basically nothing but a bootable rom with like 5 apps installed thats it there are over 180 running apps removed. I kind of thought it would be cool to be able to build your rom how ever you want it without having to worry about what you can delete and what you cannot. I appreciate the support especially on new development. Understand I have many threads and and other devices so i sometimes keep my answers short and direct especially when using the mobile app which I hate using.

Ok, that is what I thought. I just was trying to determine if there was anything else major missing from that other ROM, knowing some apps would have to be pulled or installed, hence your "Playstore" moniker for this ROM. Ok, this is a good clean base ROM for those who like to order "a la carte" down the road when the need for other features are required. I may give it a spin for the fun of it.
Cool! We are good.
sweet idea
Inb4 crazy high battery stats
Just finished flashing about 4 minutes ago. Still suck on the white SAMSUNG logo. Is this normal?
UPDATE: Took like 8 minutes to boot. Runs fine.
Downloading now. Been waiting for something like this. Cheers.

I'm using the Google incall with no issues at all. Probably no need to flash if that's what you're using.
So far the ROM is nearly perfect.
Having some MMS issues again. It only works when Wifi is turned off or not connected to a network.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I even flashed your fix it ZIP.
Hey I'm considering installing this ROM because I live the minimalism of it. How's the performance? Anyone mind posting an AnTuTu score?

I actually found one of the battery saver apps to be causing the issue. I think it was amplify through xposed, it caused the mobile data to turn off when connected to wifi. So, i turned it off and haven't had an issue since.
