Hi, my girlfriend have this phone and pratically she always have 20-30mb free on internal storage.
It's something like 159mb storage and just facebook its 40mb. She has a really low number of essential apps, and I already moved every possible app to the SD.
She keeps getting this NOT ENOUGH SPACE error, and everytime I have to clear facebook data to remove that.
Is the only solution to root the device to let more apps into the SD? is there any other workaround cause I would like to avoid to root her phone.
No ...! I think theres no other solution to move apps into sd when the device is not rooted.. bcoz like link2sd... it needs a superuser permission..and superuser works on rooted device

Also, you can not uninstall unecessary system apps, to create space in /system partition, without root acces

In my opinion the best solution is link2sd and in developement section is how to simply root/unroot your phone ... you can do a totaly backup your stock rom and install root patch ... then superuser app and link2sd ... you must partition your memory card ... you can do this in windows or linus with some free apps ... if you are afraid that your girlfriend will kill phone you can in superuser add only link2sd for root permission and when something will going wrong you can restore backup that you will do
I use always link2sd becose I have alot apps installed
Sorry for my bad english

in addition to saeed's answer, i should say that u remove facebook cache because it consumes a lot of space (use apps like 1tap cache cleaner).....no need to clear the app data
Try this tutorial: http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...-force-install-apps-sd-card-without-root.html
When my phone was not rooted I tried this tutorial and I was able to move Facebook and other unmovable USER apps to SDCard without ROOT!

SD Maid -> Corpse Finder will remove old setting files and databases left over by uninstalled apps
This was pretty bad on froyo, it got alot better on gingerbread but still is not perfect.
If you mean folders on /sdcard/, as e.g. /sdcard/opera there is currently no way to automaticly remove those.
I have some ideas, but nothing reliable enough .

SD Maid -> System Cleaner, will remove known unnecessary files.
Tombstones are debug files / reports of crashed apps.
It will remove left over caches from market downloads too.
SD Maid has an official thread on XDA btw:

Hey every one,
Yesterday i rooted my phone using superoneclick (running android 2.2.1) because i was getting sick of the fact that my memory was running full.
After that i did this:
Deleted facebook to make space for link2sd (have no seccond partition)
Installed link2sd,
Moved apps to sd.
Installed facebook on sd,
Go with my root file manager into /data/dalvik-cache/ and deleted everything inside there (50 mb) but after rebooting my phone the memory starts filling itself again and my dalvik cache was full again.
What can i do to make my memory free? Im havin 12 mb free now, but thats not enoug....
And also, is it safe to move apps like calander to sd?
Thanks, domini99

Where does it have to be?
general section, open the new thread there

as you are saying you have root then download a2sd froyo root open the app select the data storage as external then you can move almost all apps to external memory but it will also not leave many storage for you I will recommend you to first upgrade to gingerbread then partition your sdcard and use link2sd
First a question: can i go furder from herr or do i have to close this topic? Thanks!

...?!? you have deleted all dalvik-cache?!? First: the data of apps are in system/data/data then you not must touch the dalvik-cache, second: use install manager for move the apps on sdcard and not link2sd, install manager is better, third: you can move only the apps (apk) on sdcard but the data remain on internal memory then also if you install all in sdcard the internal memory it lowers, the only way for move all (apk+data) on sdcard is do a partition, without the partition you not can move also the data but only the apk, then for you now the only way for get more free memory is uninstall all useless apps.

Ooh. Eeerm.... Yeaaah... Well, see. Im not the smartest here...
Oke, i looked into data/data and therr was a lot of junk in from apps i already uninstalled, almost 10 mb! I deleted that and deleted dalvik, than rebooted and now 154 mb free!!!
I installed install manager, but.. What do i need to do with it? Link 2 sd i used to set install location and moved some apps. That did a lot for me. I always wanted a game, but that was 50 mb, and that will never fitt on the internel memory, but it only could on internel, now its on sd, and working great
Thanks for reply, im already helped that far to know how to take care of my memory.
But its still fine if someone can give me some tips, im brand new to root and i understand only 10% of everything....
Thanks

Titanium Backup FTW!!!
So, I used titanium backup to move some things from the internal memory to the sd card. It worked fine as now I have about 20-30 mb free on internal. and this is good.
Also, a 2 Gb sd card is ok, but a larger one would be perfect . I have a 2 Gb now and I'll need a larger one soon ).
Also I uninstalled all useless apps like: Facebook, Twitter etc ) All useless social apps, the park is much better also the school.
That's all I know. Hope it helps u somehow.
I have also internal memory so full (about 20mb free)

Help Me!
I have installed many apps and my SYSTEM MEMORY getting low at 8.86 MB free of 157 MB
But my INTERNAL MEMORY has 142 MB free of 1024 MB and my SD CARD has 2.06 GB free of 3.69 GB
I tried use Link2SD and move all apps to SD card, but this app doesn't help me much on lowering SYSTEM MEMORY usage.
How can i solve this? Should I use more partition or install some scripts?
I capitalize the word to prevent some people misunderstand system memory and internal memory
Also sorry for my bad english
Which rom are you using, all GB have the option to just move your apps to SD though, you don't need Link2SD app, go to manage aplications chose the app you want to move to SD click on it and chose move to SD

I use standard ROM. But Link2SD same with standard way in moving apps to SD, right? But why my system storage getting full when install some apps?
Please somebody help me! I need the answer
Is your phone rooted? If not, root it. Search the forum. Once rooted, install an app called Droidsail app2 SD. Using this app, you can move all the apps to SD card. Including apps like Facebook which do not support Move to SD.

What's standard? I guess you mean stock firmware, but is it Frozen yogurt or gingerbread?
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda app-developers app
First get your phone rooted.
Install Titanium Backup paid version, not free
Select that app you want to move to sd card, then in options click the option to convert to user app from system app ...if it is system app
do all like this, you can move all apps with this process to sd card (don't experiment with system apps)
Try only on apps that installs in internal memory and not movable to sd option
press THANKS button if I helped...

Gingerbread, sir
Hey everyone in this forum,
I have a friend who has a Galaxy Mini. And its had a few problems.
First off, its had problems with memory. Her phone doesn't recieve texts and emails (although I think emails is a syncing matter) because apparently there's no memory- she's told me it says "Message memory full- incoming message rejected" or along those lines.
Around this point she had ~23MB of internal storage remaining.
Also she kept getting the "Low memory" notification at that point.
Games like Flow force-closed on her often as well, making them unplayable. Which was strange because on my mum's Mini Flow ran fine.
Now she's deleted quite a few apps/cleared data and cache manually through Task Manager and the phone seems to be running fine again, but this (from having a Galaxy Apollo) I know is a recurring problem with low internal memory.
Also, copying files via SD adaptor and USB cable doesn't work either. Transferring files gives a "write-protected" message- is that the phone or are they just the files themselves?
I'm sorry if these have been asked before but its incredibly hard to search an individual forum on mobile.
If it helps:
Firmware: 2.3.6 GINGERBREAD.XXKL3
Model number: GT-S5570I
My friend has next to no idea about Android, and so please avoid suggesting custom roms/kernels and rooting, especially because the phone is still relatively new.
Also, if possible please suggest any solutions to any of the above that does not include factory resetting/wiping data.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Hey, thanks for your help, but I don't really want to root her phone- its her phone and the warranty is still on it, plus this is her first smartphone so she's still a new user.
Would it be best to move all the apps she can (without root) to her SD card? Would that still solve the problem?

Hi Guys,\
I am looking for your advice on some internal storage issues on my Samsung Galaxy Note 1 (N7000). i have been using mainly cyanogen rom 10 and Super Nexus Rom.
I keep getting warnings my internal storage (not the internal or external SD card) is nearly full. Apps won't install or update.
If i look at settings/storage/internal storage it says total space 1,97 GB. First it starts out grey and the bar is nearly full. Than it calculates and says there is 192 MB available, 631 mb Apps (app data & media content) installed and 7,71 mb cached data.
I am not an mathetmaticien, but 192 mb + 631 mb + 7,7mb adds up to 830,7 MB. Where is the other 1,166.7 GB gone???? What is eating my internal storage and how can clean this up?
I have tried wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wiped app data, used apps2sd, i have tried loads of cleaning apps. the only that works is a full factory reset. And after a couple of weeks the internal storage fills up again with ghost data... Any advice here??
Try to use Forever Gone, it fills the memory with .blank files, then it erases all those files and free up space. Hope it helps you with that issue.
If not, consider use another rom , like Asylum Rom, it's CM 10.1 and it simply rocks on my Note with no issues at all.
Good Luck!
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
thanks for the help,
But Gone Forever only cleans up the "internal SD card" Not the internal storage. I have 9 GB free on my Internal SD card, so thats not the issue. The issue is about the 2GB internal storage.
