Hello i just got curious about my phone if i have been using a wrong ROM because i just some forum talking about the "CMW.zip" I use that application for rooting my phone , in short using "CMW.zip" means ur using a unsafe rom? hmm help please im just a newbie ....
and here is my kernel version : 3.0.15- 1068447 _ [email protected] #3 _ SMP PREEMPT thu sep 6 21:49:19 KST 2012
you are in ics and stock kernel. it's the kernel that's unsafe for wipes and the cwm. zip file you talking about has a tendency to brick ics devices. so don't use it anymore. I guess you are rooted, so the best option is to install a safe kernel like philz or hydracore using Mobile Odin and be safe

ok i got my answer in this question i just read this forum "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827394"
but i got still question is there a proper way to unroot my phone that rooted by the "CMW.zip" ???
if its rooted, there is no problem. Just move to a safe kernel. no need to unroot it again. Just don't use that file to root again. 2nd time mite not be lucky

hello sir, yes sir my phone is rooted do I need to uninstall CMW and unroot my phone? or ill just install the kernel that you say?
thanks!!!!
no need to do anything. Just download the philz kernel and install it using Mobile Odin. you are safe. and if you rooted using cwm.zip you will not have cwm recovery

uhm unfortunately i root my phone about 3 times?(using that method) because i am a newbie and trial and "erroring" is there a way to check if my phone is still in a good condition...
if its working fine. It should be ok. for more test you can download emmc check from the playstore and run a scan. If it passed, all ok

thank you very much
no its a stock kernel and you will have the stock feeling. If you want performance tweaks, try hydracore or notecore.

what is this stock feeling?
so it means that one I need to install is hydracore or notecore for the smooth gaming?
stock feeling means as the phone is on official software. philz is a samsung kernel with added recovery options and safe.
hydracore has a lot of tweaks m. you can try hydracore and check if it suits you. If not the you can revert back to philz same way.
---------- Post added at 06:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:37 PM ----------
by the way most of the games run smooth on note anyways

uhm sir, sorry for disturbing you but could you answer this.. can i use CMW to flash the corehydra???
yes you can. use the zip file
Hello again sir/s
i have a question it is safer to install Clockworkmod from the market and then flash ??
or it is just the same with the CMW.zip file?
(should I post it with another thread?)
never use the CWM.zip file. Just install a safe kernel and it will have CWM recovery inbuilt. i dont have much faith in the market one either
now on the other side. your signature shows you are running hydracore kernel.. why are you asking for CWM.zip again? its inbuilt in this kernel.

Hello guyez ,,
First of all .. i have searched for an answer before making this thread but i didn't find a clear one ..
Second ..
i'm on KingDroid v5.1 ~> 4.0.4 with GL NoteCore Kernel . and i'm thinking to flash CM9 based rom like Paranoid Android ..
the question is .. how can i install Paranoid android from ICS without bricking my note ? and how to go back to ICS if i want to ?
what i know is to go back to GB first then root then flash Paranoid .. i'm asking if there is a way to install it directly from ICS
can i use the same way installing ICS over ICS by Abyss 4.2 redpill ?
thanks in advance

Sorry but read a lot about bricking their note because they flash the paranoid or cm9 while in ics. But if you use abyss then its ok, im not pretty sure about this abyss method because i never experienced it myself. Better flash gb first if were you.

I agree with sahilarora2003. if you read the sticky on Brickbug, it clearly mentions that
1- Never Wipe/ Restore using CWM when in an unsafe ICS Kernel. Always flash a safe Kernel. Details are provided in the sticky
2- CM9 is a safe Kernel. If you are on CM9 you can very well flash any ROM you desire. The steps given by sahilarora2003 are correct. However, it is always better to follow the specific instructions given by the ROM developer in his original thread just to be on a safer side.
3- In case you want to revert back to ICS from CM9 you dont need Abyss as CM9 kernel is safe. But for the other way round, i.e., going from ICS to CM9, its better to be first on a safe Kernel as doing a Full Wipe in ICS is a no no....

Is there a pit file when you flash? Because it is not recomendable to check the repartition if there is no pit file. How many files when you flash the gb rom?
Sorry you never yet flash the gb rom. Dont tick the repartition if there no pit file.
Your gb must be rooted and have CMW recovery to flash the custom rom. This is if your already in gb rom, yes you can wipe data cache and dalvik before flashing the custom rom.

guys I need help...
I got a galaxy note gt 7000 with LC1 kernel...brought it from finland and now using it in bangladesh.it worked fine but for some strange reason when I turned it on the samsung galaxy note gt 7000 logo appears but then the display turns black and the phone turns off...in other words it doesn't boot..
I have the android 2.6.X firmwire on it...(no costum rom)...It was rooted thoughI mean I had the stock firmware with the only difference that it was rooted with odin...
right now I can't get the phone to boot but I can get into recovery and odin mode though...
how can I fix this??I already tried searching the forum but I don't know where to start...I hope it isn't bricked...I tried every wipe data option in the recovery mode but it didn't help...

thanks a LOT...I have some stupid question though...
it says "These all are stock ROMs and this can be flashed using PC odin without exclamation mark or raising flash counter. Read installation note at end of list"
my phone gives the exclamation mark when it turns on...does that mean that I can not install these roms??
and also I don't know which country is my phone from...I mean I don't know which exact firmware I should download...all I know is that I have the LC1 kernel, the phone was brought from finland and I am currently using it here in bangladesh...
I am so sorry is just that I don't know where to start and I am panicking right now...
No, it doesn't mean you can't flash them. It just means that if you flash them, they won't raise the flash counter and won't cause the yellow triangle to appear. You can flash them safely. If you still have the yellow triangle after flashing them then use TriangleAway to remove that triangle and reset the flash counter.

really I can use any country's firmware??so what are actually the things I should look out for when downloading a rom??the kernel??I mean what are the precautions I should be aware of before downloading a rom??
how does the cyanogen mod9 works??the thing is I need to flash my note becouse it is stuck in the boot logo...then it turns off without booting properly...is there any risk I should take into account before flashing cyanogen mod9??
No, you won't need stock ROM if you are flashing a custom ROM. Just follow the instructions very carefully. Most important of all is to flash a safe kernel to wipe. NEVER wipe using stock ICS kernel as that will brick your phone (read about emmc bug).
Flashing CM9 works like any other ROM. You download the safe kernel and flash it using Odin PC then boot into recovery to wipe data and cache. Then copy the ROM zip file to your memory card or internal storage and flash it from recovery mode.

Also you might want to know that you will lose all Touchwiz applications when you flash CM9 like S Memo and S Pen. You can flash it until you get your hands on the stock ROM later so you can use your phone now.

so here is the thing I can flash any rom i want into it right??
but I have to use a safe kernel...my question was can I use any a kernel that's different from the kernel that's on the phone?? (XXLC1)??
oki thanks a lot for the replies...I wil ltry the CMW mod9 way...I don't use s pen or s note anyway...I need the phone to work..
guys another question though...since my phone is stuck in the boot logo then it just turns black(the display of course)
won't this prevent me from flashing cm9 into it??I can still get into recovery mode and download mode...plus mine have a rooted gingerbread stock rom 2.3.6 that is apparently "soft bricked" or needs to be flashed...are there any other option such as cm9??I mean there are a lotta bugs in the CM9...maybe an older costum rom??should I get the safe kernel for cm9 before installing cm9??
thanks a again for all the help...
Nope. You don't need a working phone to flash ROMs and kernels. As long as recovery and download modes are working then you are fine.
Just boot into download mode and flash ANY safe kernel using Odin and then you can wipe data and flash any ROM you want from recovery.
For safe kernels, there are a couple of them. There's Notecore, speed mod and the one included with CM9 (might be speeemod, not sure). Check the forum you will find many of them.
I think you already have a safe kernel though. GB's stock kernel is safe as far as I know. But to be on the safe side, follow the instructions on CM9's site to the letter and you will have a working phone.

SPEEDMOD AMD NOTECARE ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH CM9. if you have speedmod or notecore installed cm9 will NOT boot
you need a non touchwiz kernel
you can download the cm9 kernel from this link... Have the cm9 zip ready to flash on the sdcard and run it. It is safe to wipe without worry about hardbrick omce cm9 kernel is insyalled.

LINK
CriskeloRomNOTE.v7-MD5-5F1906B96CA2380265104AC12D7EEF5C.zip
NOTE CriskeloRom V7

• Kernel 4.1 AbyssNote

• New and improved dialpad
• More wallpapers in the stock application
• Repaired, Select Wallpapers
• Jkay v13.5.1 + Spanish
• Improved response when an application
• More things that I remember and all of the previous version"
so basically it says kernel 4.1 abyssnote...does that mean that I have to install such kernel to flash this rom??
also what does "No wipe" means??that if I wipe data before flashing will it brick my phone??
I am sorry i these questions may seem stupid and very bugging I just don't want to take chances before flashing...thanks again for all the help though!!
Abyssnote is a GB based safe kernel. You cam flash that. Abyss is safe to wipe from and so is your stock gb kernel. Just do notwipe if you are on a 4.0 based kernel that is not a safe kernel. All kernels in the post i did above are safe. All gb kernels are safe to wipe in. It just says no wipe because it doesnt require one if going from certain other roms. You shoukd wipe if you choose that rom...
Flash it with pc odin with a wipe... So long as your not on ICS based kernel the wipe itsrlf should not brivk you..

Can I root this version:
N7000ZSLM5_N7000OZSLM5_TGY
With superSU-busybox-installer?
And after that I can use to access CWM features Philz-cwm?
If rooted, will I be able to flash hydracore?

You just need to download PhilZ ZSLM5 kernel, reboot into stock recovery, flash kernel, then restart device. And thats it, you are safe and rooted all in one. (follow instructions in OP of Philz thread, everything is explained)
After that, dont flash any kernel please, you will have problems, Hydracore is ICS kernel, and it will not work properly on your ZSLM5 rom.
For now, the best one is PhilZ kernel
You can directly root with Philz LM5 kernel.. just flash it using stock recovery and you will get root and CWM.. no you cannot use hydracore on JB TW rom
Can you provide links to this kernel?

till now all all JB kernels worked for all JB except (LS2 and Ls7).. so you could try one.. if any issues, you could install the rom.

from philz thread I used ww*.mediafire.com/file/ad7fze2wx7m4wi0/PhilZ-cwm6-ZSLM5-OZS-4.35-signed.zip
flashed from stock recovery.
Hi
Just got my N7000 back from service; With just about all the hardware except the screen were replaced, it also returned running the stock ROM (Android 4.1.2, kernel version 3.0.31-1103517, build JZ054K.N7000XXLT5). While the stock Jelly Bean is miles ahead of both the original Gingerbread ROM and the stock ICS ROM, I'd rather root and go back to the CyanogenMod nightlies...
Thing is, between all the "Super Brick" and "eMMC" bugs - I'm a bit scared and terribly confused with witch technique I should use to root and ROM my phone. It sure would be nice if someone could point me to a tried and tested method (preferably a step by step guide) to root and ROM my N7000XXLT5...
Root using Philz kernel. Then you can flash the rom of you choice. For instructions, head over to his thread in the original android development section.

Thanks nokiamodeln91!
I assume you're referring to [PhilZ-cwm6][n7000]. I've looked at this earlier. I've settled on and are comfortable flashing it using the stock recovery method, and the step by step guide (in post #3 of the PhilZ-cwm6 thread) should make this manageable enough...
The problem however is that I'm unsure as to which package/version to download. I've looked at the "What kernel to choose section" in post #2 of the PhilZ-cwm6 thread, but from that information I cannot figure out which kernel matches/is suitable for my device...
As I said, I'm terribly confused by all this...
You need to choose Philz kernel XXLT5

Thanks again! I've downloaded "PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT5-OXX-5.03.0-signed.zip" and are ready to root/rom my phone!
I guess it freaks me out not knowing/understanding everything. Especially about something as fundamental as the bootloader/OS of my phone. It's a weird feeling reading info like "DDLSC - DXLSE - JPLSB - XXLT5 - ZSLO2" without understanding most it. Also kind of freaks me out that I'm not supposed to use the latest version of a piece of software....
Though, I've had it with the stock rom again and are ready to take my chances! So again; Thank you!
@nokiamodeln91; Just wanted to say thank you!
Rooting with "Philz kernel" is quite possibly the easiest root I've performed. Once I were sure which version/variant to download is nothing to worry about.
So now I'm back to being a happy N7000 user running CyanogenMOD! Only difference being that I'm back to nightlies...
Again; Thanks!

Use odin to flash the kernel. If you intend to root your rom, after flashing the kernel you will need to flash supersu from recovery.

Hi,
I've followed the guide to install the speedmod kernel on my Galaxy Note on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673072, using odin, but I have a problem: after Odin said that all was good, the phone is unable to reboot and for 5-6 seconds stay with the screen with the "yellow triangle" and then shut-down.
How can I solve this problem?Or come back to original kernel?
Please help me!!

You 100 % sure it was ICS? Install the rom you were on again using odin. Its will put back the original kernel. Just dont wipe while on ICS stock kernel.

I've check with my brother that has the same original rom (he has a Samsung S2)...and I discover that I had Android 4.1.2 that means JB! :/
Have I to install the JB rom with odin in the same way?
Thanks a lot for your help!

I've done what you said and ALL WORKS NOW!!
Thank you so much for your help!
Can you suggest me a good rom to install, without doing same errors!? (maybe this could be my last question! )
In this case you just have to flash the JB Speedmod kernel the same way you flash previous one. The phone is not booting because of having an ICS kernel on JB rom.

If you want all the Samsung features then check AryaMod rom.
If you are OK with AOSP, cm 10.2 or omni 4.4 are great roms. It's up to you to try and decide which one suits you the best.
This time for rooting and cwm, use Philz kernel. Methods and explanation in his thread in the Original Development Section.

Sure, I'm very ok with AOSP and I was thinking about cm 10.2!
Please, clear me up if first of all I have to install the Philz kernel or the rom cm 10.2! (that wasn't the last question! )
First root using Philz kernel.. Then back up your efs folder. Then flash the rom or your choice. Custom rom can only be flashed using cwm recovery.
AryaMod v3 is very good and smooth stock LTA based TW rom. I'm on it since it was issued. As the owner set v4 will be issued in few days. You can try it.
