Seems rasbeanjelly doesn't get much attention... - Nexus 7 General

I stumbled across this ROM in a Trinity thread and decided to give it a try. After a couple days use with no issues I thought I would see how many others are having success with this ROM. I wonder why it doesn't get the visibility or attention of some of the others that stay near the top of discussion? It's very fast and stable for me without a custom kernel, anyone have in experience with rasbeanjellly long term? I wonder how many other ROMs are out there that are really good but garner small followings compared to the "favorites"?

Its because the rom does not have its own dedicated thread. Rascarlo prefers to kep it in the trinity thread. It is a great rom.

hmmmm maybe because it's a little hard to find maybe if it were to have a seperate thread it would attract more user (i still can't find it)

I can't see the reasoning behind keeping it buried in a kernel thread.

So true.. rasbeanjelly is the best ROM out there for me at least coz I never had any issues with ROM like I did with other ROMs ..its light and looks very clean.. very very stable and smooth.. but you are right most people don't even now rasbeanjelly... but I'm glad I know rasbeanjelly

Ted C your right it is a great Rom and the kernel is very good too.
Someone in the trinity thread summed it up with a comment along the lines of we trinity people are a little different. I'm still a noob with this android stuff so I couldn't comment on that but I like the style of the guys involved.

and theres this review of rasbean jelly http://gearburn.com/2012/10/rascarlo-custom-nexus-rom-review/

I like having the 2 threads in one. It makes it simple to keep up with what's going on.
Click XDA app
Click DER Kernel thread
Read a page or 2
DL if need be
IMO - As long as you've caught up to the recent state of things in the thread, the system works perfectly. The fact that there isn't too much traffic (not necessarily a bad thing) makes it nice and manageable.

Great ROM, great kernel, great devs
Many overdo the amount of tweaking and changes that AOSP needs, rasbeanjelly is just right. Just enough to give you an extra bit of functionality without killing stability

Not rooting a nexus device is like owning a Bugatti Veron and not using the the key to unlock the performance mode lol. Just joshing you a little. It does do well stock I must say.
Right now I am cm10.1 but sure I will be a flashaholic like I am with my bolt. Lots of ROMs and kernels to choose from. I am like a kid in a candy store

Paranoid android 2.99 on my Nexus 7 wifi - I use it over stock because of the hybrid ui options and control over dpi on an app by app basis. Other stuff I like is 'fullscreen' mode option on the power button pop up thing.

I know it, but I bought it when my laptop was out of commission due to HDD failure and by the time I got my HDD and realized I needed recovery discs and finally got it going again I didn't want to unlock my boot loader and lose all my game progress. Just like a 'best ROM' thread, this is thread useless. You can easily see what ROMs are the most popular by looking at their threads in the Dev section and seeing the level of activity. Knowing that still doesn't tell you what ROM is best for you. Only you can decide that based on your own needs and usage.
Sorry folks.,
One of the big no-no's is asking which rom is best.
This, can only be answered by installing several roms, and deciding which is best for "You".
One can read the threads, and see which rom has the least issues, and also see what features are best for your needs.
WE can't make that choice for you. If we could, then there would only be "1" rom for all users, based on the highest amount of posts.
In the end, YOU have to decide.
Thread closed, in an effort to prevent flaming.

I voted on Cyanogen. It has tweaks, but not as many as say PA or AOKP so in theory it shuold be less code to merge.

Right, but they take obnoxiously long to release anything since they always want it to be as bug free as possible. I'd say they will be 3rd or 4th. AOKP or Paranoid will do it first. My money is on AOKP or Slimbean.

personaly i like the look of miui and android 4.4 more than any other rom. i think kit kat is the way to go though since i actually want an freaking app drawer haha.
miui had the elegance and style till android 4.4 came out. now its simply who wants miui functionality vs aosp 4.4.
I prefer the look of miui also, stock android lacks synergy imo, all of the apps just seem all over the place with nothing in common design wise asides from the various shades of blue lol. The consistent design is what I like about miui and even sense 5 to some extent.

exactly. um, personaly, i think that android 4.4 is making progress with making a common style of app icons, but its not androids goal to make things look any better. its more of a functional os. like i say "iphones are toys for kids who care about the bling" and "androids are simply pieces of hardware, the rest is up to you"
