Finally FXZ'd back to unrooted 905, then OTA'd to ICS. Can see why everyone likes ICS. Three questions:
1) How do you add widgets to the home screen? I long press on an empty spot and get a popup to select wallpaper.
2) I miss the stock weather app on GB where I could add cities. It was a flip page style app. I didn't see any weather app in the ICS app drawer.
3) Cold I load the old GB weather app into the ICS operating system?
Thank you for your time.
I also wanted to thank crobs808 for putting together the FXZ info.
Tony
in the stock launcher, the widgets are added from the app drawer. Tab to widgets from app drawer and hold on desired widget, then place.
I never used the stock weather widgets on the bionic but you could try the AccuWeather app in the play store. I know on tablets it has paged weather locations that you could flip through

After the putchase, it was installed, and when I go to select widgets, not all of the widgets are there. No clock, no weather, not sure how many I am supposed to have.
I decided maybe I need to uninstall/reinstall. Went to market, there was no 'reinstall' option. So I went into Settings/Applications/Manage Apps. and uninstalled. Got message I had a refund.
I presume I got the correct app, as it showed the right company in the Google Checkout.
What should be the right process to get this installed, especially if something is wrong.
One thing I find quite interesting with apps for Android: looks like no way to contact many of the sellers. For this for example I went to their web site, didn't see any support or method to contact them.
This app had downloadble widgets which means not all of them come installed with it.
Further research shows that many users have trouble with this app ranging from issues like yours to battery problems.
The website for the app says that you can contact them through email from the android market. if this is not the case, I would abandon this app on that basis alone lol.
poppycock app works fine on my n1 and my galaxy s.. once installed all widgets are there you only have to download skins for weather and clock.
try downloading with wifi on.. it is much faster.

Thanks for the input, but they are not there 'once installed', if then you have to 'download skins for weather and clock'. Seems to me a clock should be a widget, not a skin. On the site, which has all of 1 page talking of features, they mention things about skins, and downloading skin kits. That implies development to me.
I went to the Market online, but that, interestingly enough, you can't even search on. On thes web site, interestingly enough, NO method to contact them there. But thanks to your tip, I do see an email address on the Market from the phone.
This is quite an interesting learning experience.
The web site that is on the Market is not reachable. Maybe trouble tonight.
I'll try the email route and see if I can learn a bit more about what I need to get this stuff working.
there are 100s of custom clock skins they cannot possibly put them all with the app it would be huge.. you add the beautifull home widget under under skins download and select the clock you want..
The widget name you want is called Beautiful Home, and when you pick that one it opens up a settings box. Down at the bottom it "save and apply." You gotta hit that button to actually put the widget on the screen. If you hit skins instead you can choose what you want, but you have to apply each time as you back out of the settings interface to make the widget "stick". Small learning curve. Once the widget is up, you can hit the weather to see the big weather popup, and hitting the menu button there brings up settings and skin buttons.
This is my favorite widget, the most reliable. I have submitted skins that were accepted, so I know they are responsive. If you still need help let me know.
Thank you so much for the details. You'd think an app that is at a cost, however small, would have at least a base level of documentation on their web page.
Question: Is Beautiful Home a different set than Beautiful Widgets, or is it just required in order to use Beautiful Widgets?

Beautiful Home is the name of the clock/weather widget that comes with Beautiful Widgets.
Thanks. I got it going.
I was thinking that a 'Home' Widget was a replacement for the home screen or something like that. Its beginning to look like a home widget must be a widget that can be placed on any screen, and is 'home' to other things you will be adding, as opposed to replacing some other home widget. Is that the case in general?
How's that for a tongue twister?
I would like to know if you all recommend this app for the Captivate?
Beautiful Widgets + Launcher Pro = Fantastic UI experience
I've been using weather and toggle widget and like it more than beautiful widget but both are nice.

Which Weather Widget and Toggle Widges are you using?
I have Beautiful Widgets along wiht Beautiful Weather LIve Wallpaper, and really like it. But I'm always interested in seeing what's out there.
I am using Launcher Pro Plus on my brand new Bionic. I have an empty screen and am trying to add the World Clock widget, yet it keeps telling me I have no room and won't let me add it? Has anyone else run across this issue? Any feedback?
I downloaded home switcher and went back to the stock home screen to test. I was able to add it there with no problem. Ths widget must not be compatible with launcher pro?

Is anyone else having issues with the quick contacts widget in alternate launchers? My other stock blur widgets work in Go Launcher except this one. Running Theory's ROM 1.2 if that makes a difference.
Doesn't work for me either in Go Launcher.
I was wondering the same thing. I swear I saw a post stating that the moto blur widgets worked with alternate launchers, but I cant get this widget to work with ADW, LPP or GO launcher.
I like that widget a lot.
Bump... has anyone had any success with getting this to work properly? I actually liked the stock contacts app for the short time I was running the stock launcher.
It would seem it adds the widget, but it's invisible and doesn't function... I am able to long press and delete it with go launcher.
Still no dice in Go Launcher. On the other hand, I have been using this lately and am really liking it.

It actually automatically fills up with contacts based on how recently/frequently you interact with them, pretty nice if you ask me.
Its a blur app and u need the blurred launcher.

That is not true. Other blur widgets work outside of the blur launcher. Also, this widget shows in the list of available widgets from other launchers but when you add it (in my exerience on Go Launcher) it adds an empty space to your screen that you can't say unless you try to put another widget down as it will say the spot is occupied already. You can delete the empty spot though.
Any update on this issue or do those who use alternate launchers just out of luck with this widget?
+1 you need a blur launcher its built into /system/apps it like having a razor blur camera and downloading it and won't work correctly at least from what I have read over the months on alt launcher you pick the widget and it won't even be visable

I had a widget on my non TW launcher for quick notes.... but it got deleted and I can't get it back. Trying to add widget gives option for new blank note. I want an existing note.
From within SNote there is option to set as widget... but it starts up TW launcher and puts the widget there?

When I picked up my S6E, I really liked the stock Weather widget that's part of TouchWiz. I always find myself back using Apex Launcher and my S6E is no exception. I've installed it and set it up just the way I like it and the one disappointment I have is the stock weather widget isn't available
When accessing widgets from the app drawer it doesn't even show. Long pressing on the home screen, and selecting widgets that way shows the "weather" widget as a 4 x 2 widget but regardless of where I try to put it - even on a clean screen gives me a "not enough space to place . . . " error. It's really a 4 x 1 widget.
I know there are options like Zooper widgets that have addons with a similar look but none has access to the built in Accuweather app.
Anybody figure out how to use the stock weather widget with Apex or any other non-TouchWiz launcher?
This would be awesome! !

I've tried to get it to work on both the GS3, GS4, GS4, Note 3, etc ... and nothing works...so definitely not a new problem! I was able to tear it apart enough on the GS3 to get it to show on Apex launcher ... but it wouldn't update, show location, or work when you clicked on it.
As to this point, I haven't found a widget I like more than the stock TW one. Beautiful Widgets used to have some nice looking ones, but honestly it's been about 3 years since I've even looked at the app so I wouldn't know what they've got these days.

Here's my solution, adapted from the discussion HERE. I use Zooper Widget Pro and the S6 Zooper Widgets Theme. It's by far the most spot-on widget compared to the actual stock version. In fact, from the stock clock and weather on the lock screen, you really can't tell the difference between it and the Zooper widget version.
1. Install Zooper Widget Pro
2. Install the S6 Zooper Widgets Theme
3. Install Desktop VisualizeR
4. Create a 4 x 1, 4 x 2, etc. Zooper Widget and select the S6 Widgets Theme. The widget option that looks exactly like the stock version is the one with a "45" in the title (the angle of the shadow)
Land it on the desktop one row below where you actually want to place it.
5, Long-press the home screen and select Applications - Clock ---> do this twice
6. Open Desktop VisualizeR and create a shortcut the following way: select a transparent image (attached below) as the shortcut Image. Click Select Action - Others - Activities - Weather - Weather. Title the shortcut "Weather". Select Apex Launcher as the target launcher ---> do this twice.
7. Now, long press on the 4 shortcut icons, one at a time and choose edit. Change the clock icons to the same transparent alpha you used for the Desktop VisualizeR shortcuts and delete the shortcut names. For the weather shortcuts, just edit and delete the names.
8. You're now left with for transparent shortcuts.
9. Long press the clock widget and select Resize. Using the nodes on the widget, move the top up and then the bottom.
You're left with the Zooper Widget with transparent shortcuts overlaid that open the clock and the stock weather app. There's a few shortcuts you can do like set the default click-on action in the widget settings to open the clock which will eliminate the need to add those two shortcuts but this way gives you a little more flexibility like assigning different actions to the hour and minute location.
Only very slight annoyance is that the widget uses open weather as the provider which sometimes slightly mismatches with accuweather re: location name and temperature.
Worked very well Jeff. Love it thanks.
