I recently got an offer from T-Mobile and I got a free gs2 should I Keep it or should I sell it to buy a Galaxy Nexus? Im also thinking of switching to a Nokia WP7 been a long time Nokia Fan hardware but I'm confused as hell what would you guys do?

Try it out, see if you like it. I tried it out at the store, but it felt too big. The Galaxy Nexus might be the same size, but I hated the resolution on the GS2. 480x800 spread out on a 4.5in screen is so ugly. It feels like I should be able to put so much more stuff on it, especially since I was coming from my loaner Sensation, which has a 4.3in qHD screen. I honestly see no reason to buy the GS2 over the G-Nex, unless price is a factor.
Former Nexus One owner.
Galaxy nexus definitely. Nothing beats being the first (sometimes only for many months) to get OS updates. The HD resolution is a significant plus as well.

I actually used for a bit like 3 hrs I found it to be a great phone compared to my N1 but I felt like it was missing something I couldn't pointed out it felt so simple I think the hardware felt played out but I been spoiled by nice materials. as far as the price I think if its over 600 bucks is a no go for me is too much for a phone that might be old specs in the middle of 2012.

As far a price is concerned I'm expecting the GSM version to be 529 off-contract like the previous Nexus phones.

SGS2 wins on hardware. Galaxy Nexus wins on software. What do you like better?
I'm looking at the Amaze 4G and the Galaxy Nexus. I'm leaning more towards Galaxy Nexus.

I think the galaxy has this premium look with the HD display and the curved glass as far as the TI Omap processor vs the Exinos I have no idea what would perform better but I know the GS2 from TMo carries the same processor as the amaze.
Just go for the galaxy nexus. I'm sure you won't regret it. The software was optimized for the hardware plus the timely updates won't give you headaches. Wait for the reviews though.
Do you guys think it will be released soon before January or you guys think that verizon will get the exclusive for a few months? I don't think I can wait LOL
They haven't announced anything for US GSM carriers so I would think this will be at last a 2 month exclusivity. By then the source will be released so I doubt I would be able to buy a T-Mo version before trying ICS on my N1.
If you're not bothered about which carrier you're on then I would seriously consider a droid RAZR instead of either of those two. I know technically its worse than both but there's something really high quality in the feel of Moto's new UI that I just can't quite put my finger on and it wouldn't be a huge wait until ICS either (I think it'll probably get it before GSII). Anyway thats just my own humble opinion, consider or ignore it as you wish.
Also it's probably worth me pointing out that I do live in the UK so things like carrier decisions and multiple GSII variants simply are not a concern here. We have one GSII and its on every carrier. Nearly all phones here are on every carrier. Just thought I'd add that in there.
The phones over a year old now. I only picked mine up used almost half a year ago for 200 USD. The phone's price really plummeted in just over half a year didn't it? Even now it hasn't dropped further as it hit its rock bottom way back then. High end phones that are older and with less specs cost the same as this as its really unpopular. An example being the Galaxy S.
So in a way its a pretty unsuccessful phone. Reasons? Software support has been terrible, suffering from radio issues. The stock firmware was appalling for a long time. Then the announcement ICS wasn't coming which soon after you saw the price hitting rock bottom. Leading to LG to counter its previous comment and proceed with ICS. Which it probably had no plans to before the backlash. Since the update was due rather late and has since been delayed a quarter.
Hardware wise its not bad. But still outdone by S2's larger screen, double ram and better camera.
All said i'm extremely happy with my first Android especially considering what I paid. But only with the developer support providing the best solutions. If I were a stock user i'd be sorely disappointed, only feeling better for the price.
In terms of my next phone, I want a larger screen 4.7ish but not pocket busting like the note. A better camera but equal to 2X is fine. More RAM because Opera Mobile keeps shutting down when I multitask out for a second, even with an extra 48mb ram hack. Amoled would be nice but not necessary, mainly for its benefits if its sunlight legibility is good. HD is unnecessary in my opinion.
As it stands I probably won't be upgrading for awhile until the likes of the S3 gets cheap. Except its design looks unprofessional. Optimus 4X anyone? :-D They couldn't make the same mistakes again right? Right?

i am happy with the phone. the only complaints are the screen outdors and the camera (well not the camera itself but the plastic cover that ruins the quality).
i dont even dare thinking about a new phone but seeing how fast the market moves today's pick will be outdated in 2 weeks.

some people arent that rich to change expensive phones every 12 months.
My next device will be WITH a good battery, a SD card slot (dumb htc with their one series..almost made them perfect), a good camera (likes of SGS3 or more likely htc one x), and an ARM cortex-a15 based cpu (or krait). and quite importantly, a wolfson micro sound chip (also supported by supercurio ) i dont want screens as large as 4,7 inches though
oh, and i hope it will be a nexus...i want good updates... fuuuu LG
this would be a freaking dream phone. but i aint buying anything until the 2x gives up on me, i still really like it
So far i had 2 android phones with the optimus being my second one. I have noticed that all those "specs" do not matter. What matters is a good software. Therefore i would move to a nexus devices when my optimus gets completely destroyed or really useless. No need to keep throwing money on phones if they cannot completely replace my laptop.
I will go for a SGS2 or 3 or a Nexus.
Hopefully soon. Tired of all the probs with my LGOS
currently, my o2x running temasek kang, it give me what i want to do
still waiting for the stable cm9, then will use it about a year
my next phone maybe the galaxy s4
I think I'm buying a S3 or nexus. And what Arkara said, I agree that specs don't matter as much as the software support.
Seeing as the S2 a friend of my has, still running stock since launch and no factory resets: Smooth as hell, fast and long battery. Galaxy Nexus is also stable.
Maybe my phone has a bad chip or something like that but the FD issues are to much and the battery life is overall the same for me no matter the BB or RIL. No more Tegra for me.

Nexus seems like the popular choice among us. I think specs matter still otherwise you wouldn't be after a high end phone. I personally have grown accustomed to CM's flexibility and features so i'm not really after software support. Except as we know in our 2X case it lacks drivers for us to update to.
Of course a stable good software release is important, afterall custom ROM users are a minor aspect in comparison to sales. But in the S3's case Samsung are trying to differentiate and add value through the software extras. That's great for most but if your not using it you're paying for nothing.
At least the idea behind the S2 was hardware and just the right software to make it run. This time around Samsung are making moves inspired by their biggest rival in their eyes, Apple. They like to poke fun and criticise Apple but they would prefer nothing more than to be them. The design, the marketing and the software are all in their footsteps.
What do 2X users here think of the iPhone anyway? I think it's like our polar opposite in the high end. The super expensive overrated and over hyped hardware with good closed software popular phone compared to the piss cheap higher spec phone with miserable software and success.

Well, they sure as hell have a long way to go as far as design goes. Pretty much all android phones do. They are butt ugly. The Optimus 2x is actually one of the prettier ones imo! The Galaxy S2 for instance is a design disaster.
I'm not a fan of the iOS, though. When I use it, on my Ipod Touch, I get the feeling that I am being treated like an idiot.
I will have a close look at the ASUS Padfone.
If it only had a 720p screen, I would have bought it.
When the Rumors about 5 new Nexus devices for Jelly Bean come true I hope ASUS makes one of the phones. I love their build quality and design. They also are the fastest when it comes to updates and patches.
I also think that the Optimus 2X is among the prettiest phones. This was the reason I picked it instead of the Galaxy SII (the price was similar at launch).
With CM7.2 UNOFFICIAL (I also use temaseks build) the phone is very good and I get a good battery life lately since I turn my phone off and back on right aufter I unplug it from the charger in the mornings. The only thing I don't like is the Battery life when I use it a lot for webbrowsing and games.
My next Phone will have a 720p display, a bigger battery and more RAM.
SD Card slot, swappable battery are things I would very much miss if they were not available on my next phone. Optimus 4X maybe, Huawei D Quad maybe, Jelly Bean Nexus possibly or the Padfone?
I´m tired of the 2x....
...because of the politics from LG.
The stects of that phone were really good, but as it was said before: Good software ist more worth than good hardware.
I think my next Phone will be the next SGS or a Nexus.
What i need:
SD-Card
huge RAM
720p Display
LTE
NFC
good Cam

Camera is good with official ROM, not so good with CM based ROMS.
Rather see if you can get Nexus 4. It's in your price range (actually depends on where you are, availability and price differs from country to country) and much better than all your options your considering.
http://www.google.co.za/nexus/4/
Most of those phones you are considering have been on the market a while and the older the device the smaller the community and slower the development gets as people get newer phones. If I had to choose one of them I'd choose the One S, no questions asked. Much faster than the competition, has official JB and is still fairly new.
F*ck Samsung .
Buy Acer cloudmobile s500.
Low-price and high performance... just perfect .
HTC One S no doubt
best dual core, i mean..... cortex a15...maaannn.....that was fast........

Why should I buy an unkown brand in the smartphone community? And I thoguht Sasmung is known for his good wuality cameras / phones
It has been a very good phone for me you know. It has been with me for about one and a half years and it has come over a car crash, fallen into a pool, dropped a lot of times and in one of those it fell from a 1st floor directly to the ground. I had to change the gorilla glass screen which was about 30 us dollars. It has been an adventure and it continues. Camera is not the best but as any other bad mobile camera, it takes very good full light photos. There is still a hell of a development going on. It is just as fast as 80% of optimus 2x stock if you are running zeus rom with cpu at 1350Mhz. Screen has enough brightness, everything is big and legible and we are having official stock ICS modded in some days, actually now. What else can i say? I am not marketing this phone but it is a good buy. If you are looking for a fond working phone this might be your choice, believe me. If you are looking for a fast like hell phone just dont look for LG OB. Hope Ive helped.

Sorry to hear that. It went for alot cheaper in some countries.
Desire X is a good choice HW wise. Not as good as the One S, but cheaper and doesn't have as big a screen. (The One S's graphics Chipset will run circles around all the other phones even the SGS2).
If you want a good community, look at previous flagship phones or really good for it's price phones of well known brands (Unknown brands tend to have much smaller communities).
This phone actually has a large Chinese community that doesn't interact with this forum much. I think I'm missing our sometimes since Google Translate can only do so much.
If you can afford it I would go for the One S.
Your Xperia Pro is on par with most of the other phones and I wouldn't pay money to get another similar phone. I don't think a upgrade is necessary actually.
I told ya.. best performance at that price :good: .
It`s released in September 2012, I guess that`s why there`s no developing topic in this community.
I guess they`ll add it to XDA soon, cause it`s a cool phone .
And it`s f*cking better than S2 .

High-end.If you don't mind waiting you could see if the Acer's development picks up before making your final choice.
When buying a phone second hand make sure it hasn't been tinkered and OC'ed and with HTC make sure it's still S-ON that way you know it hasn't been tinkered with.

Yes. I'm not sorry about it, but it's getting old. Quite a few great devs moved on already. Theres still plenty of skill and commitment here though and we might be getting official CM10.1 soon (G+ pictures from official dev has already been posted, but no nightlies appeared yet).

No guys, its not the Htc one S.
I went back to Xperia P, again.Yes, first time I got it on summer but traded it for Xperia Pro. Now 4 months without smartphone and of research.. I REALLY regret I was so stupid! [at that time there wasnt any development]
I mean 8mp camera, dual core and handsome: the perfect phone!
Only thing is battery, isnt it replaceble with a 1750 li-on??
If you want long lasting battery, go witg Motorola Razr MAXX lol dunno if its in your price range though. But yeah One S looks superb. Hmm..

Hi guys
I hope you won't kill me, but I am a samsung boy. I had a Galaxy II and I was real pleased about it, until it got stolen. So it's time to pick a new phone. I have already read that the bootloader will be unlocked with the jelly bean update. Sadly I fear this might be only a rumour. So this leaves me with some questions.
Will the bootloader be unlocked?
Does this phone really contain lots of bugs?
Is this phone worth buying
Should I got to a Galaxy S3 or another phone
Thanks a lot
I loved my S2, fantastic phone!I upgraded to this phone, more on the fact it looks similar and I didnt like the look of the S3, its a good phone, but its a bit old hat now really, things change so quickly!
Neither do I. But I am curious if there might be other inspiring phones out there. Anyway.. the new upgrade of the SII is sadly enough just an embarrassment. Besides I was wondering if there were any other interesting phones arriving shortly. But I don't know about a lot about the bootloader, but I want my phone unlocked and bug free. I was kinda a flash-addict, and I do like this LG phone, The design, pricing and its hardware ofcourse. Still this phone hasn't received much love, so what should I do?
with my new CustoNexus port-rom, this model has suddenly gotten my interest back. So, i think its a good buy for the low cost you can find it for now comparing to a OneX when it was cheapest.
nexus4 or Optimus g is the only better alternative, comparing to SIII.

True But in this case, I don't want to limit my choice based only upon money. I do feel like getting the SIII, still the S4 might be just around the corner. If I buy this phone, I will have to used it for over a year and hopefully even more. Still I really need a smartphone and I want it to be excellent.
Your port is certainly a good solution to the dreadful UI made by LG. (I saw your rom already and it made me smile)
Still the future of this phone is quite unsure, so .. updates, bugs, .. bootloader, so tell me what should I do?
PS: I heard the display was great, can anyone confirm that?

^ SGS3, lolnope, don't buy that piece of plastic! Buy 4X, it'll have JB and get unlocked soon (official CM10.1 is sure), or buy G... don't buy the phone with 1080p, it is just the waste of cash. HTC One X would be a good choice too, but if u want to play with custom roms without losing warranty, just choose O4X
@edit yes, it's the best screen after LG OG! And jelly bean update will solve most problems which exist now
@edit2 human's eye can't even see differences between 720 and 1080p (in phones, on tv u can see it ofc)
@edit3(lol) SGS2 is good phone imho, design is better than "three's", but i hate physical home menu in Samsung's phones.

The only unsure thing in future is if LG will upgrade it to JB 4.2 or further. But it runs good even on ICS, and as Dexter said, only "better" system availible atm is the Snapdragon S4 Pro in Optimus G or Nexus 4.
The display is really great. I haven't done direct comparison to a SIII, but the 4X doesn't have burn-in thanks to IPS instead of AMOLED.
The bootloader unlock was confirmed by LG's Developers to a few users here. So it's still not official, but with LG nothing is official - you just get used to that after a while

I am also thinking of selling my galaxy note and buy 4x HD ... big size of gnote is annoying and besides, 4x has tegra 3 which I believe is better than snapdragon quad ... The battery life with tegra 3 is awesome.

No one wants to convince you into it. First of all this thread shouldn't exist. Hope at least the mods look in the Optimus 4X section.

Seriously, it's time for me to renew my phone - i9000 galaxy S
After browsing the web, moaning versus N4 unavailability - and no sd-card, no battery access - i'm really considering O4X.
Form factor, instead on GSIII
Price, compared the HTC One X+
Performances
Now the major drawback for me (seems i just discover there is a locked bootloader...)
- CM10.1 support
But God, for 350€, i'm sure this phone rocks.
Would you still say that the nexus 4 is the best device the market despite its age?
With all my apps and background processes going, it hasnt slowed down a bit, ir doesn't know what lag is. It is fast, smooth, beautiful and functional and I'm on totally stock unrooted 4.3.
The s⁴, note ² and other more popular phones can not say this despite their superior hardware.
(I'm discounting google editions).
What do you think?

Yeah, I totally agree when it comes to performance. That is the big pro running stock android in its pure state.
There are definitely cons where it can't reach the new phones, but I'm totally OK with 'em.
Battery life is good to go trough my work day. Storage is enough (for me). Don't really need a better camera on my phone.
Yes, I'm pretty happy with my nexus and I think it will satisfy me until there the next generation this fall...
Yes, I am very happy with mine and I know people who have GS3, GS4 or iPhone 5 and none of them reaches the quality of my nexus 4 imo. And I am so glad to be part of this awesome community!

Note 2 does not have superior hardware. It has same processor as the S3 which is quad core version of the processor in S2.
Coming to S4. Exynos version beats N4 by long margin as it's A15 processor. The US and European versions of S4 use a slightly improved version of the processor that's in N4 so it's sort of tie of you check benchmarks.
Touchwiz shows Samsung phones. Even the S4 lags badly at times.

Since the thread is subjective, as OP stated, I'll have to say that I wouldn't trade my N4 for any other phone. I actually plan on keeping it after my contract has run out in Dec 2014. It's that good.
I'm sure I'll figure out a way to replace the battery as well.:victory:

why..? is the battery is no good.? or is it just as a standard procedure after long usage..?
Hit Thanks if I helped : from Tapatalk
Iphone users used to say this 3 years ago;
It just works.
Nope. As an owner of all the ones you mention...I'd say the Note 2 is the Best. Its a sweet smartphone.
Just my opinion and I currently am using a Nexus 4 as of a few days ago and I am surprised how great it runs...I agree the n4 is an excellent device though...no complaints at all (well except the small 4.7 screen).

Note 2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9 belong in the dash of a Cadillac or limo roof, no need for big ass phones that don't fit normal pockets.

It's certainly the best bang for your buck. At $300/$350 for a device of this caliber, how could you go wrong?

Hell yea the Nexus 4 Is still a top notch phone, Not only Price But Software as well. Love My Nexus:good::good:
yeah there's no other phone that comes closer to price/performance ratio...the price is a steal.
nexus 4 is perfect excepting the battery life...especially compared to iphone 5
Honestly for the price you pay and its excellent performance its value seems to be, personally much more than that of another Samsung device.
Yeah sure...we're in nexus 4 section on xda. I don't wanna sounds like a **** but I guess 90% of us think the same about our device. So is it really necessary to open a new thread for that?
I am sure that even after 2 years you'll find people that think this way about N4 here. Just check s2 or GN section, you'll easily find posts saying that GN is still one of the very best handsets (hardwarewise) or that S2 running Cm10.1 (with not working project butter) is buttery smooth

No better way to say it.
Lag on n⁴ is so rare its unbelievable, far less than on the iphone 4s.
I really love the nexus range now and couldn't imagine leaving unless it was for a future Note model but even then it would be a work device/second device to a nexus, the n⁴ is the first phone to enamour me since the HTC HD 7 (which still runs amazing on stock wp7.8 after like 3 or 4 years)
I previously had s3 international and if was nice and made me finally like android, I hated it pre-ics/jb and pre-quadcore as it was so horrible to see the mess and lag...
Right now though, android and nexus = pure phone heaven

Nexus ⁴ stock unrooted 4.3 with Kii Keyboard.
I definitely say the Note 2. Of course this crowd is biased towards aosp where as people in the note forums will say anything under 5x is a joke. I for one love the spen actually prefer twiz over aosp. I am not using gnex because I wanted the "pure Google experience" Nein! I am using this because I had to sell my note 2 because I am broke and the gnex seemed to the best suitable downgrade from the N2. Rest assured I will probably get the Note 3 come tax season. Might even buy Note 2 once the value decreased for the N3
