How did you root your phone? If you're just HTC unlocked you need to flash boot.img via fastboot.

He is probably s-on cause all he does is unlock via htcdev. Boot.img is in .zip of the rom you tried to install.

Ok you need to stop posting the same question on multiple threads! Please be patience and wait for responses. You claim that you relocked the bootloader before ou attempted the OTA, but did ou also remove CWM and replace it with the stock HTC recovery? That will prevent the OTA from completing successfully.
Yhanx for quick response can u tell me how can i replace stock HTC recovery ?????

You need to extract the recovery.img file from a RUU/ROM.zip file. Then you need to unlock the bootloader again and reboot into fastboot mode and flash the recovery.img file like you did for CWM.
Thanx mate it really works.

Your best bet is to boot into recovery mode from fastboot usb mode using the following command:
fastboot boot recovery.img
Using this method, the boot partition should be unlocked in recovery and you can flash the kernel.
To be honest I don't think you can unless the kernel is in .img format or you are s-off.

Good call. Thanks for that reminder! HBOOT 2.00.0000 has a new /LIB partition that comes into play and will prevent the custom kernel from flashing properly, thus the wifi error will occur.

Flash the boot.img via fastboot then you need to copy / push the corresponding bcm4329.ko file for the kernel into /system/lib/modules/ i just do it via a file manager with superuser. Job done!
Or there is a ICSQuattroDrivers.zip file containing the wifi driver that you flash via recovery. Not sure where I found it as I'm using the latest Tiamat now, it's rather nice.

is it possible flash a rom without s-off?

as the title, my phone couldnt get into adb to get s-off
You need either HTC Dev unlock
or revolutionary s off to flash a custom ROM
That's the simple explanation

You can
And make sure you fast boot flash your boot.img as well
Sent from my Nexus 7
If you're unlocked through htc dev, just flash custom recovery (4ext touch recommended) and you can flash custom roms after that.
Just make sure to flash boot.img through adb as said by mark. Always do this after flashing new rom when you are s-on.

Every time you flash a new ROM or kernel you need to open up the zip of the new ROM and fast boot flash it, otherwise it probably wont boot unless there is a similar kernel already

If you use the app to install recovery, make sure to extract the recovery.img file in the downloaded zip and manually flash that through fastboot. Only have to do this while s-on

The red exclamation point is the stock recovery. Once you install a custom recovery using the fastboot commands you will be able to boot into the recovery partition.

[Q] need help with custom recovery.

Hi, I'm a new user.
I just unlocked my bootloader, and I was looking to put a custom Rom on my device .
But wherever I look , I can't find a custom recovery.
Can you introduce some custom recoveries to me.
Oh and I don't know how to put a custom recovery on my phone too,so I need some help with this too. =))
Ps: I don't want to root my phone.
I will be thankful if you help me.

CWM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918450
(I suggest 4EXT)
To flash one of them, rename the IMG file to recovery, place it into your fastboot folder, boot into bootloader(fastboot mode) open command prompt navigate to your directory
Command to flash is "fastboot flash recovery recovery.IMG"
Hope this helps

The preliminary steps are to unlock bootloader (which I assume he has done that or if he is on HBOOT 1.13.0000, then use Revolutionary to S-OFF and then flash custom recovery and root), flash ClockworkMod recovery, then flash a superuser.zip to obtain root.
There's a guide made by myself in my signature so check it out. If you still need help, post back.
