Do yourself two favors:
1. Upgrade to one of the stable jelly bean ROMs
2. Run Google Chrome for your browser for speed and synching between all of your devices and PCs.
You will thank yourself.

Also please post in the correct sub-forum when asking questions. Thread moved.
I've just seen your other thread in here which I've deleted. Please don't duplicate threads.
Thanks

Did have an ics Rom did not like the fact it had the back home menu keys on screen at the bottom also hated they keyboard layout and Im not so keen on Google chrome

Hi,
the back/home/multitask bar is easily removable.
If you don't like the ASOP keboard, you can still use the Swype or other keyboards from the Play store.
If you don't like Google chrome, there are a few other options. The default on CM10 is not bad, Firefox, Opera, etc etc.
Porting the new browsers from the S2/S3/Note from ICS to GB will be difficult.
I hope it helps.

[Q] Clean honeycom 3.1/3.2 rom for P7310

Hi everyone
Is it possible to upload a clean rom for samsung galaxy tab P7310 ... this without "branding" samsung (pure honeycomb as the Motorola Xoom)
I want to have a pure HC without these additives like a TouchWiz social hub, etc.
Is it possible? Where can I download this rom?
I installed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321142 but does not work the camera and getting wifi disconnects
I'm not good at uploading something I'm looking for the simplest software, which can be loaded by ODIN
Sorry for my english btw

Unfortunately there is no vanilla HC rom for our device. But there is alpha ICS rom, everything but the camera should work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430723
I will use far overcome rom...as appears final ICS rom then upload it into my tab...
thx for reply
Overcome still has TW on it. I am planning to get rid of TW, but I need a 3.1 ROM. Any ideas?

I highly recommend installing ICS ROM until official ICS update

I just installed the AOKP build 35 ICS ROM and wow, everything runs so smoothly compared to the Honeycomb stock ROM. EVERYTHING. Totally worth losing all my apps and settings for 1-2 months until the official update arrives. If you use the browser a lot (and type a lot) you should really think about doing this. It's like a CPU and RAM upgrade. Like a totally new (faster) tablet.
Yes, AOKP is great, but you didn't have to lose apps and settings - you could have just used Titanium Backup, and backed up literally everything . Good thing to know if you wanna do more experimenting before official ICS.

It's tempting, but I use my tablet to have my son Skype with my in-laws, so I'm stuck waiting forever for the official ICS.

i wouldn't do that.
ics and hc are two dirrent OS versions. porting apps from one OS to another would result in quite a few FCs.
so if you ask me "losing" your apps is the correct way to go...
I don't think that's entirely true mate. If you are talking about user apps and their data, it wouldn't make any problems, as long as the apps that were on Honeycomb are compatible with ICS, and 99% of them are. Not only apps, but he could have restored their data too, such as game progress, etc, without any issues...
Think of it this way, official upgrade from Honeycomb to ICS does a similar thing, and lets you keep user apps that you had on Honeycomb. I know this is true because i did it and kept all my user apps, when i was upgrading Asus Transformer Prime, that i had for testing purposes. There were zero issues with them.
Restoring system data and settings is another thing, i wasn't suggesting it, as that would most definitely cause problems.
It's the apps and their settings (and data) that matter most for me. And for anyone I guess... So it's good to know. Thanks.
AOKP
AOKP and P5 ICS roms for p7310...can I switch back and forth between these roms using cwm without wiping?
step by step
Is there a step by step guide if how I can get this ICS up and running? From where
did you download the image for the Galaxy Tab 8.9?
I don't think so.
Here's the short version:
1) install CWM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312218
2) wipe data, cache partition and dalvik cache (advanced menu)
3) install this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1648561
4) enjoy your new tablet

Brilliant, thank you so much, I will try it the next couple of days. Just wondering if there is a way to store the current original Honeycomb image, so that I can restore it in case there is some warranty issue?
Many thanks!
Yes, make a backup after you install CWM. You will have to restore this and also the stock recovery software if you're going for the warranty.
I've been trying to install ICS on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE and have been unsuccessful even when changing the update-script to avoid assert errors. I'm at the point where I get a Status 0 error when trying to install aokp_p5_build-35.zip.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm a noob with Android but experienced in iPhone area. I'm using CWM 5.5.0.4 recovery.
Sorry, no. I also had a similar error (6 I think) but that was because of me editting the script in Wordpad and saving it with carriage returns. I have no idea what the errors mean or where you can find any info related to this..

The LTE 8.9er Tablet has different hardware to the 8.9er regular tablet (p7310/p7300), the custom roms from the 8.9er tablet didn't work on the LTE tablet.
The lte tablet has a quallcomm soc the regular 8.9er has a nvidia tegra 2. Look here for a ICS for your lte tablet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1575
I installed CM9 yesterday on my tab. Ihave CM9 ob my SGS+, too. Thats the reason, why i installed CM9 and not AOKP or another ROM.
What i like:
- The performance is faaar better and smoother than on Honeycomb Stockrom
- In the Image Gallery a can disable the bottom bar so the full screen is used
- Better Taskswitcher
- IMHO better Contacts-App
What i dislike
- I have to say, Samsung optimized the Apps very well for the tablets that means:
- Better music player than Apollo
- Better calendar than in Android 4
- No Polaris Office
- No Keyboardsupport for the Samsung keyboard
Ok now lets see what Samsung deiver with there own Android 4. So i can copy some apps to CM9 .
Im waiting every day to have the confirmation that ICS would be ready
and I know I would start to wait until one of our chef's cook a proper ROM
I tried the different ICS and they look the part, is fast, and there is some nice improvments everywhere, however more than the camera not working,
what is holding me in Honeycomb is touch wizz
lol
don't get me wrong, I truly hate skins, and I like very slim and lightweight roms
but the app eBook is the killer app in my tab.
Until there is a good way to port it to ICS I will hold still living in the past..
(honeycomb was launched in feb 2011 why feels that long?)
Honeycomb isn't a problem by itself. The slow hardware on the 8.9 and Touchwiz make it a problem
Short Question: I have rooted my tabled and installed CWM Recovery and a port of an Cyanogenmod 9 ROM.
What happens when the ICS ROM will be released official by Samsung. What steps will I need to get these official ROM. Can I unroot and reset my device to the normal ROM or install the new official rom by manual download and installing over CWM Recovery?
When you made a backup of the stock rom after you installed cwm and bevor you installed the CM9 rom, you only have to restore the backup an update your tablet. otherwise you have to install the stock rom via odin.
About the "Smoothness" of Honeycomb and ICS. ICS is very smooth, but not every app. Quickpic stutter, the AOSP gallery is very smooth. Google Chrome is stuttering and shows me white screen when im scrolling to fast, the ICS Browser is smooth and faster.
So i thin there is something more than tegra or honeycom the problem.
maybe it is something like the right h264 codec for video.

Any ICS ROM where Chrome doesn't crash?

Is there ANY ICS ROM out there with a stable Chrome that doesn't crash or freeze in the middle of writing long texts?
I almost want to go back to HC because of this, but then I can't use Chrome and I kind of like it.
If you have tryed all ics rom's than I don't know!
I haven't. But as far as I know they all have issues with the browser. AOSP GalaxianSoup, AOKP, CM, they all have reports by people saying the browser freezes/crashes/pages stop loading.
Delete pls

Yeah, maybe. I have to admit, I kept flashing new nightlies without ever wiping or doing a factory reset so I might try this when I get home. Thanks!
I try many ICS roms(>10), none of them make chrome work properly.
But I found one today, the newest cm10 preview 20120723. Chrome work perfectly on my 7310 now. Not a ICS rom though

AOSP GalaxianSoup fine with me

Try out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42074948&postcount=2091 .. its for Jellybean 4.2 (Jellyshot) but if you nandroid first , you should be ok..
ACtually just switch to Jelly shot , It's better than stock 4.1.1 (I think)..
Thanks for replying mate... in what ways do you think jelly shot is better than stock? Ill need the pros and cons before I switch from the already very stable stock towards another rom... thanks

Actually I would want to stick onto stock because of it's reliability and stability... isn't there a legit way for porting inverted versions of messaging and contacts and the calendar?
Sent from my Nexus S using Xparent Skyblue Tapatalk 2
Hi, you could flash a rom that has themes enabled in it, and install a black theme from PlayStore, such as black exodus .
I would recommend CyanogenMod 10.1 ReleaseCandidate, they are really stable, and offer far better experience than stock android.
About pros and cons, do a nandroid of your stock android and try CM10.1 If you do this dont forget to flash latest JB Gapps

The reason you are having problems is because you are on stock with odex apks. Stock ROMs applications have odex files which is supposed to allow for faster booting of applications. Custom ROMs have deodexed apps which allows for customization and theming. If you want the inverted apps you will need to flash a custom deodexed rom. I have been running the latest CM-RC5 with inverted gapps with absolutely no stability issues.
If you want to theme and customize apps, simply make a nandroid backup of your stock rom and start flashing ROMS available for your phone. The possibilities for customization are just not there for stock rooted phones.
Good luck:good:

IMHO,
The custom Rom that nearly to stock is Rasbeanjelly, the most smooth and stable I thought. And that Rom also already has the black contact, mms and calendar.

[Q] Which post-gingerbread N1 rom is the least buggy? [ANSWERED]

I cant run Gingerbread (GB) because many apps I use do not support such an old Android version.
So it must be between Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), Jellybean (JB), and Kitkat (KK).
I've tried a few roms and cannot find the buglessness I seek:
[ROM] [4.1.2] [Mar 18 2013] Slim VJ Jelly Bean 4.1.2 - v1.0 for N1
VJ's previous non-slim JB rom
Evervolv's Kitkat
j00m's Kitkat
MIUI.us's unofficial JB port v2.12.28 (considerably worse than the official GB MIUI rom)
reider123's CM10 rom
tommypacker's pixeldroid AOKP kitkat
tommypacker's CM10.1.3 Android 4.2.2 v2.7
parkedraccoon's CM11
Evervolv ICS
All of them contain frustrating bugs. So the search continues to find the most workingest post-gingerbread rom.
Together, I'm sure we can find it! Who's got a lead?
And the winner is...
j00m's kitkat!
I'm using it on a 198/3/235 hboot (system is only 191mb)
one of the only roms besides official Evervolv that has trackball wake toggle (no more pocket wake-ups!)
on my recommendation, j00m replaced the /system/app/Torch.apk with one that stays on after screen turns off.
Tip: enable lock screen widgets in Security settings, and put the torch widget on the lock screen for quick access.
j00m fixed WiFi tethering (w/security set to None only)
i replaced the slow buggy stock kitkat browser with UCbrowser (it's even faster than dolphin)
i turned off the clunky window animations in Developer Options for a snappier experience
i installed the app Videocam Illusion to enable video recording
this is as bug free as it gets. Daily driver ready.

Hmm, the only decent post-gingerbread ROM I found was Evervolv/J00m's KitKat. It works fine for me, but others haven't had such luck...Evervolv JellyBean (3.2.0 I believe?) was the best alternative, I can't remember what problem caused me to switch back to CM7. I think (if my memory serves me correctly) that one time it was the home button that wouldn't work, but the second time around it worked, I think it had something to do with running out of space, perhaps due to the GAPPS? Anyhow, you might give it a try and see if it works for you. Maybe try to flash the core GAPPS and get the play store to install your stuff instead of the full GAPPS which is way bigger.
I have the same problem with a 4.4 evevolv, the phone restarts constantly and gives me process.media was interrupted.

Actually, the solution isn't as easy to find as I remember. What worked for me was to clear data of media storage: Settings > Apps > All > Media Storage. Others have reported that they had to clear data of Contacts and Contacts Storage located in the same place.

I'll give it a try.
@PhilipTD, yep, I think that's the one: [ROM] [DEV] [ICS 4.0.4] *7/1* Evervolv's Aosp TexasIce Cream Sandwich
hboot 220/10/206
I found a working download link to the final version of Evervolv's ICS rom (Evervolv-Perdo-2.2.0-Final-passion.zip): http://evervolv.codefi.re/builds/release/Perdo/
And its corresponding gapps: http://d-h.st/AxV
I tested Evervolv's ICS and immediately found 2 bugs that have been haunting me:
Cant play videos embedded in webpages.
Pressing the trackball to take a photo always requires 2 presses for the first photo.
So I gave the latest j00m's Kitkat another try, and while it's not bugless...
it seems to be the ONLY post-gingerbread rom that can play videos embedded in webpages.
Still has the camera-trackball bug. (is this bug present only in evervolv-based roms?)
Videocam illusion app works on EVERY rom for video recording.
Kitkat at least has the potential of fixing bugs as it is currently receiving very frequent updates.
So I think j00m's Kitkat is the way to go.

j00m's KitKat is really good. The only reason I switched to Evervolv's was because I wanted to try out ART on my device and that setting had been removed from the j00m's nightly...but ART doesn't work on my phone so they're both good for me. I might go back to j00m at some point since it is simpler to flash (don't need to flash GAPPS on top!) - plus it has a boot animation that has a clear start so I know whether my phone is in a bootloop or simply taking forever to load.

Additionally, j00m's rom is slimmed down to only 211MB system which means it should work perfectly on the ICS hboot - 220/10/206 saving lots of space!
The stock kitkat web browser is barely usable. Chrome browser is even worse. Thankfully, the Dolphin Browser works really well!

I've generally felt VJ's v6.0 4.2.2 was the slickest version of JB that I've used till date on my N1.
I've used PixelDroid, Carbon, PACMan, ParanoidAndoid and Evervolv. But while these ROMs are customizable and have different features, VJ's ROM had the perfect (imho) blend of CM and Vanilla Android which was right for me.
Video recording and Tethering won't work but the rest of the features are pretty cool. As far as KK ROMs are concerned, they are still not as smooth nor as stable as the JBs yet. I've only started playing around with @parkedraccoon's CM 11 and @texasice's 4.4. I expect better updates to follow.
