LT30p firmware on LT30at keeping LTE support - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Okay people now that I have been able to create a stock AT&T LT30at ftf file: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0ByrrmqPijqISREZpSE16bWdKV1E I went ahead with testing if I could flash a generic LT30p firmware on my LT30at EXCLUDING the baseband so I could keep LTE.
I used the LT30p firmware version 7.0.A.3.195 generic and flashed it through flashtools wiping everything but excluding the baseband. By doing this I was able to keep LTE support and have a generic unbranded firmware. I then restored all my apps using the included backup & restore app ( I had manually installed it on the LT30at firmware previously)

Everything went fine but of course I couldn't root using Bin4ry's method with the firmware I used. Also tethering works without issue. I did have to setup the AT&T LTE apn which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27979729&postcount=4

Is there any way to root then? According to Jozinek's method we have to unlock the bootloader and that's not possible with the TL.

You can root officially via the sony official method. Then you can flash custom kernel.

Unlock the bootloader to flash custom kernels. Use this method from the official sony website, then flash the advanced stock kernel which has root.
This should work unless AT&T have done somethg nasty, in which case why do you bother with that provider, just change to another company

Ouch, why would you get an AT&T phone then.....with no prospect of community unlock (Test point is not a viable method) then it seems unless you can get a dev to work on root you are stuck. And I think that will be a low priority for devs atm. As far as I know Bin4ryhas not worked on it since it came it...so you may be stuck with it.

Unfortunately AT&T is the only carrier in the US that sells Sony phones. Also Sony hasn't released an unlocked Xperia T for the US and I doubt they will since it's exclusive to AT&T right now.

Doesnt this mean it is available on other carriers? In which case its bootloader should be unloackable.
Forgive me if i am wrong, I am from UK.

That site is wrong. The LTE equipped TL is not available unlocked anywhere "yet". Sony is talking about releasing and unlocked unbranded TL in the US but.its just talk right now.

They said the same thing about the ion. 2 months ago I was on sonystyle.com and almost ordered the ion, but called and talked to a rep, and told me "not unlocked yet". He took my particulars so they can call me when the unlocked one became available. Needless to say..........
I say an unlocked TL ain't happening, ever!

They hadn't been talking about unlocked ion at least not the US market. I have a friend at Sony that deals US Xperia sales. TL is being talked about though. But its not his decision that comes from higher ups. Hopefully they do. Of course for the ion you could always buy a lt28i (though no support in the US) for the TL it isn't that simple as the T doesn't have LTE like the TL.

If it doesn't require a custom kernel then sure. If not then no. I don't know anything about MIUI so I can't say for sure.

Xperia Z from Bell Canada (C6616)

Just picked up my Xperia Z from Bell - here's a little information on the device, as after searching for a while there doesn't seem to be much out there about this:
Model Number: C6616
Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband Version: 9x15A-ACEFWMAZQ-30110041-32
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-g6df7905-02328-g70ed36a
Build: 10.1.1.A.1.319
Customization Version: 1275-6311_R2A
Also, rather unfortunately, the bootloader cannot be unlocked (according to the Service info > Configuration page).
Can you tell us if the screen is better? I saw some videos on the Bell website and it did look better. I was gonna go check out the Bell store today but didn't have time lol

Not yet - this is the first Sony device I've owned (used to Samsung devices and the various Nexus'), so I'm a little gun-shy regarding flashing things meant for different models.
Tried rooting it today and, as expected, it failed.
Use DooMLorD to root, I think it should be fine.
Would you be able to backup your rom to FTF file?
Here is the instruction to make ftf file of your rom.

The update made the screen look a lot better but that was with 253 version already and 4.2.2 made it even somewhat better again and camera too.

Tried Doomlord's without luck, but I didn't use the new method to flash the other kernel (was fairly unsure if I would soft-brick it). I'll follow that guide and post the resulting file, though.

I flashed its baseband but it didn't work unfortunately.
This Rom only has band 4 LTE also even though Bell says it has AWS and 700.
It couldn't pick up t-mo LTE too.

For any other Bell users who are new to Xperia devices and unsure of flashing, I successfully flashed this 4.2.2 stock firmware using Flashtool (left FOTA, BASEBAND, and UNKNOWN unchecked). I had to add the Bell APN settings, but everything works!
Additionally, I rooted using this guide, but when I got to step 11, I reflashed the kernel from the first firmware image I linked instead.
So if I get this one, unlock it and flash standard firmware, can it be used with Rogers and its LTE?

Rogers and Bell both use the same LTE bands, so it should be good with the network unlock. Switching firmware is really only required for rooting/getting 4.2.2 at this time.

So bell's firmware is standard or it's a custom one with bell's apps per-intalled (aka you have to wait for them to release a new version 2-3 weeks after everyone else gets it)?
Bell's firmware has their apps, and is subject to their release schedule, but will work with other carriers - it's just the network lock that prevents you from using another carrier. However, if you're looking to root, or don't want the extra Bell branding in your face, switching firmware is a valid option.

Never used the 6606, or any of the other models. From the looks of things, though, it's a difference in basebands and supported frequencies.
laslow, I flashed baseband off the ftf file you posted, there is only band 4 LTE, not 700 (band 17) as stated on Bell website.

Unlock Bootloader / Unbrand rom

Hi all,
I just bought a Sony Z1 C6903 with my carrier (Orange french) and without contract, the SIM is unlocked. I hate the rom provided by my carrier, it's never updated and there is a lot stuff added that give a poor UI experience. So, I want to be able to change my ROM, I mean I want to remove all the stuff that my carrier added by using a stock or AOSP rom but I cannot find a way to do it.
If someone can help me to do that, I will be very grateful.
So, my phone seems to have a locked bootloader with the following property Bootloader unlock allowed: No.

I read on some other threads that it is very difficult (if possible?) to unlock the bootloader but that I should be able to use a stock rom directly provided by Sony.
I tried to flash a stock rom but when I plug my phone to Flashtool, it says that my phone is locked
Can anyone give me some advice on how to achieve my goal?

You dont even need to unlock the bootloader to debrand.
Try using the flashtool found at flashtool.net and not the official Sony one and all will be good

hi there,
one thing that the official flashtool that sony provide lacks is that you have to have a unlocked bootloader in order to use it. now you can unlock the bootloader but there is a known issue where if you do it breaks the camera functionality. what you can do is use this version of the flashtool which you can use even if your bootloader is locked (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439328) (see part 4). you can now download the prefered firmware from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2459365)...

If it says
UNLOCK BOOTLOADER ALLOWED: NO
Then guess what, you CANNOT unlock the bootloader. It is currently impossible!!!
As has been said, you can still root, install a partial working recovery (See in the dev thread) and flash stock FTF's using flashtool.
Seems that the Z1 has brought a lot of new people to Sony away from Samsung and HTC.
These are long standing issues with Sony and those of us with lots of Sony experience understand this. I do welcome all the new people, feel free to PM me if you need any sony help

Ftf files are original firmwares.
Can be flashed to unlocked or locked boot loaders.
Locked loaders only prevents to flash 3th party kernels.

Yes, that's right, but you can flash a CE firmware without any issue. We on the other hand don't even a have a single C5306 4.3 one.
Sent from my Xperia Sp C5306.
Just flash a C5303 ROM, I have a C5306 with the C5303 UK ROM for a week now without any problems.

Did the back up work? What did you excluded when you flashed it?

No, backup won't work when you change a version of Android (in this case, 4.1 --> 4.3). So look for a backup app on the Play Store. I flashed everything on the ROM, though, I lost all my data (including photos and videos) saved on the internal memory. I think you can prevent that by ticking off the "wipe data" option on Flashtool, I'm not sure.
Even LTE works.
C5306 US owner here. Unlocked (basically any SP owner in the US is unlocked because it is not used by any major carrier). Still no update, even though the Sony Mobile US site for the SP shows that a new firmware has been out since 2/12. To be honest, after hearing all the issues, I don't want to update it until there is another 4.3 firmware update to see if things are fixed. 4.1.2 is working fine for me anyways.
There's a Mexican user telcel branded that actually update to 4.3, I'm Mexican too and I know that the only variant sold by telcel is 5306, because support LTE.... Maybe I'm wrong, but I saw that user in the 'news about 4.3 and 4.4'
Mine is 02 because is unbranded xD...
Also, u can flash a tft, maybe if u flash a C5303 variant u can keep LTE....
Also, PCC backup works even if u change android version, model, etc.

Ask in the thread, or in Q&A, don't clog up the general with these simple question threads. But yes, follow the tutorials (Pro-tip: Use the search function! It's super useful!) for flashtool and flash any ftf from any region, some have different apps pre-installed etc. you can use them from any region. I bought a UK sim-free Xperia Z and I've flashed Taiwanese, German and Belgian ftf's.
No harm in trying, just make backup before. I'm on c6606 but in US and have always flashed UK or EU branded and they worked fine I just had to input my APNs for cell coverage.

Pm me so i can tell you what to do in spanish
I called t mobile US today. They have me the run around of we are testing it. Then the lay just stopped talking after I said most other TMo around the world have released it as had the generic US. The lay wouldn't give me an ETA. Then she didn't want to talk to me when I mentioned they missed several 4.3 versions.
All in all, I wouldn't wait on them. Wait for a pre rooted on here and go for it.

C6006 user here. From experience, there's not much difference between C6606 and C6603 firmware beside the band and customization.
Download the lastest FTF, make sure its for C6603, and flash.
As a precaution, tick "Baseband" when flashing.
I think you should try Canadian Bell?
