[Q] What was your reaction when you first cracked your bootloader? :)

Sooo yea guys what was your first reaction when you first cracked your bootloader??
I know mine ... i was all like : ( ) OMMGG!! AAAGH! I DONE IT!!

I recently just purchase the X8 and rooted so i know have Froyobread, I would like to know what are the advantages of getting the bootloader unlocked?
It won't be the first phone I do this too, and i have a backup phone to use incase i get any errrors, I am ready to do so but i would like to know what are teh CONS and PROS of this.
On a quick sidenote, I have Themechooser and downloaded Crystal Theme for Froyobread CM7, but I want to check out more, can someone guide me to a link that HAS THE FILE OR MU/FS/4Shared or any other download website to get them (previews are a most), I've searched the forums but I keep getting market links and since I live in a third world country internet connection on the phone is for the rich and Ddealers! (JK) but just so i can download them and transfer to the SDcard.

Well I just unlock my bootloader yesterday, I think Im having battery drain problem. But without that everything works like charm.

hahaha my reaction was almost the same

At my first cracked bootloader, I lost my signal, no SIM detect, no wifi,... Then I cracked again and bricked my phone. After restored to stock rom, I tried again and finally, the bootloader was a loser

I was very happy beacuse my phone was not bricked.

I thought unlocking bootloader would be tough and I never believed I could unlock it but I gave it a try....and now I'm happy I tried.........it was pretty simple though.....my regards to blagus,spiderx and the whole team

same for me !

I was really anxious and during that time I didnt know phone can be bricked... I just followed the instructions and walla! my phones bootloader is unlocked without brick or any problem...

guys pls help me...i clicked msm7227_semc command and it said adb server out of date..daemon started and it stopped...am i doing right??

I remember having some trouble with it at the first aswell.
Could't boot my X8 while trying to reunlock & try a whole noon/eve.
Next day LDX v004 was released and in 15min i had it flashed

just use SEUS
1-update using SonyEricsson Update Service
2-click update and follow the simple step
(when u see "your phone software is updated") just click install

yep, you can use seus. if you fix it and root it again, please try not to unlock your bootloader again please.lol
P.S if you think you could, could you tell me why did you try to unlock your bootloader. was it because of the modules you could add on?

sorry bro late to reply....i cant do it because my phone totally not function...LED also not blink...and usb can't detect anymore...i have use W8 and i unlocked using x8 method...is it the cause for my problem??

I´ve heard of people unlocking the bootloader on their W8 without any brick, only the kernels didn´t work.
By the way:
Have you ever heard of the "search-function", because with this function, you´l find this if you search for "unbrick".

You probably have new security phone, so unlock method is outdated for your phone.

is there any telltale info that could indicate the phone has new security feature? I think it would be helpful for a lot of owners to know before they find out too late.

Most likely they can fix your phone ... one would at least assume that a Sony Ericsson service center has some means to restore shot devices through a JTAG interface or by directly wiretapping the NAND and re-writing its contents.
Though - better ask them to call you back in case the repair would become too costly (i.e. the service center would replace the components boards instead of just restoring the NAND of the device)

yeah but i read that 10W51 and 11W08 hard bricked....
and in my case i hard bricked 11W46 and got a new motherboard with 11W19 so is it safe for me to unlock bootlaoder???
if the_laser made a tool for unlocking bootloader he can make a tool for security hole....

The ONLY reliable, and existing, way to tell if the phone is "security fixed" is through "GPG cable connection" ... as detailed by the_laser on setool.net
Also, the ONLY way to unlock the boot loader of 11W29+ devices (without hard bricking) is also by using a combined hardware/software approach. There's NO WAY to unlock the boot loader through software only.

Ok, the road is open for someone which buy the software and hardware and unlock, at good price, phone for all 11w29 in the world... Better if one for country. Could be a way to be busy and rich

If handset is in warranty, can i take the risk of unlocking bootloder?
Is sony Ericsson service center repaired it for me under warranty agreements ?

Well, if you hardbrick your phone, there will be no way how o determine what have you done to it. You can try it, if it gets bricked, go to Sony service centre and tell them that you were updating your phone with PC Companion and after update you couldn't turn it on. They will change your motherboard and if you're lucky, you will get one made before 11w29 (but most probably you'l get 11w29+).
Do it at your own risk. I'm not responsible if you try it, hardbrick your phone and Sony won't accept your warranty.
AFAIK some people have already tried this and Sony changed their motherboards.

if you try you will get hard brick,but if you still insist,then try......
when you go to the shop to ask to repair your phone dont tell them what you did,just play dumb....

Warranty will void if i unlock the bootloder,but at the process of unlocking bootloder if i not succeeded is it deemed to be unlock bootloder and gone from warranty??

what if u already hardbrick ur x8(no vibrate+led), then send to shop n managed to revive it...
my x8 is 12w05,i forgot to check unlcking BL thread b4 unlocking it so i accidently hardbricked my x8
so aftr reviving it..the hardware inside it is still considered manifactured at 12w05?

Hello, I am a follower of your forum, and I want to thank and congratulate all the help they provide, but for you even would use eclair: D I have the following question, my phone is 11w35, and would unlock the bootloader, but I'm afraid meet with a hard brick, I have read all the guidelines on the matter, and I would like to know your opinion on the matter, which method would you recommend to do it? that I have a chance to survive if I risk my phone? I did the check with s1tool and gives me the message SEMC simlock certificate, so I can do that ... according but still I have my doubts ..

You can try it, but the risk of having a hardbrick is big because you have a phone that is w29+ and w29+ phones have patched the bootloader exploit.

If u are going to do it, find a guy who own jtag box. It would be better if he will be a friend of ur. Cause then u can unbrick it for free if it hardbricked.

a friend gave me his x8 to do the work with bootloader and kernel...his was a 11w35 too...he has an unlocked bootloader and alfs v9 now
