I recently just purchase the X8 and rooted so i know have Froyobread, I would like to know what are the advantages of getting the bootloader unlocked?
It won't be the first phone I do this too, and i have a backup phone to use incase i get any errrors, I am ready to do so but i would like to know what are teh CONS and PROS of this.
On a quick sidenote, I have Themechooser and downloaded Crystal Theme for Froyobread CM7, but I want to check out more, can someone guide me to a link that HAS THE FILE OR MU/FS/4Shared or any other download website to get them (previews are a most), I've searched the forums but I keep getting market links and since I live in a third world country internet connection on the phone is for the rich and Ddealers! (JK) but just so i can download them and transfer to the SDcard.
thanks in advance.

Well I just unlock my bootloader yesterday, I think Im having battery drain problem. But without that everything works like charm.
Hope this help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225

My reaction? I was thinking, "Okay...My phone's not bricked, and I know the procedure, it's time to spread the word and create a guide "
I felt pleased, of course .

hahaha my reaction was almost the same

At my first cracked bootloader, I lost my signal, no SIM detect, no wifi,... Then I cracked again and bricked my phone. After restored to stock rom, I tried again and finally, the bootloader was a loser

I was very happy beacuse my phone was not bricked.

I thought unlocking bootloader would be tough and I never believed I could unlock it but I gave it a try....and now I'm happy I tried.........it was pretty simple though.....my regards to blagus, spiderx and the whole team

Just flash a stock rom and wipe your data. That's all!
Try giving a good title. Writing urgent wont make it. You have to give a clue of your prob so that people here could easily know if they could help or not.
Hope that helps. Just sharing what I learned from posting on XDA.

I dont know much about unlocking so you better read about that. I cant link Jailbreaking and flashing together. I think it won't.
Well you have read about flashing then.

Why did you even try? You read the warnings. Try to plug the charger and wait a few minutes and cross your fingers.
If that doesn't work, i hope your warranty is still in effect because you need to send it to sony.
No warranty anymore? Hopefully you're good with electronics. Find a guide here on xda and try to unbrick it with ressurection cables.
That's it. I hope you have warranty though.

Afaik there will always be even a small chance of something going wrong. But then
It's the 11w29+ phones that are really at risk.

As everyone said before, it's safe as long as the phone isn't sim-locked.
However, regarding Jelly Bean -- as nobodyAtall said on his CM10 development thread, it's "a best effort to support the unsupportable" or something like that; our X8 really, really shouldn't go any further than 2.3. I'm currently on 4.0 and it leaves a lot to be desired -- 2.3 roms are *much* snappier, but for some reason I get terrible battery life on those (that's why I'm on 4.0)
How can i be sure that my phone is not sim lock.
Without inserting various sim cards,thanks

Read Bootloader unlock threads for thatv sim certificate. Everything is explained there.
Mine X8 is 11W19 and i had no problems with unlocking bootloader.
Are u seriously asking these or u are testing us.. u have been here since quite a long time and know a lot more than many of us around..
Any way you can check out the thread by spyderx on unlocking with all the methods and details or mine below for a simple one with some usefull links..
And yes i haven't heard anyone complaining about brick for the one's below 11W29, still no one can assure u on that, there are always a few chances if something goes wrong(very small chance )..
Good luck..
No risk is involved, but use your brain a little bit.
Im sure you will be happy after unlocking ur bootloader.
Hey, ur not a noob, though its ur choice
You should read related threads for unlocking bootloder and then follow proper procedure.
U will definitely succeed.
Gud luck

A question about bootloader unlocking

I recently tried to unblock my bootloader, but my motherboard or whatever it is was after 11W28 (11W48 I think) and I bricked my phone. Now when I sent it to get it fixed, they changed it to 10W46. Can I unblock my bootloader without being afraid of a hard brick? If the process is done correctly of course.

They gave you an older one, so you can. I hate when they 'repair' a phone by giving another one back to the user, but in most cases they will give you an older one (like now) that can be unlocked (almost) safely

[Q] Hard brick X8 (wrong kernel, broken during flashing)

I have flashed wrong kernel (X10_V1_BLRelock) on my sony ericsson X8.
No signs of life after that one.
I have been reading posts on forum but still havent found some solution.
I will try and find some service shop to repair it but till that time if anybody has any suggestions i would be thankful.
1.if your X8 still under warranty and you can make some noise with it!
don't go else where! go to the mobile shop that you bought your X8 and make some drama
that your X8 suddenly went off and don't know the reason why it happen.
go with the warranty card, after that they will send the X8 to Sony and sometimes take a month get
back your phone.
2.if your X8 warranty expired just go to the mobile shop where you buy it and give it to them
and make them fix it. it cost you and in some case you maybe need to reveal what you do the X8
in my experience i did the first one and it works like charm.
Note:whatever reason you can put and it need to be strong one.
sorry for my bad english.

You may have to use JTAG to repair your phone or just send it to SONY. There is no possible way of reviving it other than that. In the time being just use some other phone lying around your house.
2 threads are here by mistake. i send msg to moderator and he said he deleted the old one but somehow it is still there...
Phone is not under a warranty so I will have to look for a shop. I'm still searching all possible options but exams in the next days will prevent me from serious research that's why i posted a question...
Well you have 2 or 3 options
1.Send it to Sony and pay them to repair it
2.Use aze2learn method...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27942435&postcount=205
3.Buy or find someone with Riffbox/Jtagbox
Can you get into fastboot mode? If not, you must take it to repair.
i'm taking it to repair, there is no other option... but it is dead for some time now :/
