"Android OS" using my data connection ?! - HTC Sensation XL

Since a few days I have a little problem: "Android OS" is using my data connection, very annoying. Because I live in France in a little town and I go to a school 50 km away from here. I live there the whole week, and there is no Wi-Fi. I am limited to 500mb. Android OS is using 28.11mb since 30 October.
So my questions are:
- why is it using my data connection ?
-how can I stop it?
I restricted background data but it doesn't help.
Any help appreciated

Disable mobile data under settings and only enable it when you need it

I am not silly ( maybe a bit, but not like that)
Thats what I do, I have it in the notification bar... I disable it always when I don't use it.

Losing data and cell signal.

Hi, I have noticed with my htc one that sometimes, like 1-3 times an hour, my data dies and sometimes even the cell signal drops
This happens everywhere. Is this a build problem or just my phone? Or can I update radio and fix? Thanks in advance

Same, in Napa CA. It only started on 5/09 though.
Hi
Greetings,
Are you on stock Rom ?
Stock radio?
If yes contact HTC or your phone Carrier
They will help you out

Sry for slow respond,
I tested the things you suggested and I figured out that the problem is with 4G, If i enable 4G it works sometimes but then sometimes this problem happens.
But if i don't use 4G , only H/3G it works fine. Why is that? The only reason i can think it that 4G is new in my country? Or that the network towers are overloaded( It's a known problem where i live that the towers are overloaded)
Thanks.

WiFi problem

Okay, so I'm having a WiFi problem. We just got the Comcast arris modem/router combo, which I know isn't the best, but it was parents choice.. so I'm stuck. I get very slow WiFi speeds , .5 -4 mbps depending on closeness to router. My family and friends with other phones such as iPhones and galaxy phones are getting around 20mbps down. Things I have tried are - flashing WiFistock.zip fix, restarting router, changing channel on router, changing secruity type, disconnecting and reconnecting, restarting phone, I'm nof sure what else I can try.. I can't stream HD Video anymore and I used to watch a lot of it.. any idea and help would be appreciated , thanks in advance !

Have you tried disabling Wifi Battery Optimization in the advanced settings of your phone?

I have been.. but I use it a lot away from home where I don't have WiFi , and I have 3gb of data only, so it can be a problem.

Yes, it doesn't give me any faster speeds, but thanks for the tip

Could just be an upright router-phone problem. Phone gets full true speeds in other router coonnections. Don't see how my router could be working for others but not my HTC one.. maybe I'll just have to live with it

I don't know if this helps, but try setting your modem to b/g/n mixed rather than N only (or if its set on b/g/n, change it to N only).
I had problems with wifi and mixed modes solved them.
Will try, thanks for the tip!

Change the DSN to global and try.
Still, the problem persists. I have done as much as I can think of. Maybe I'll call Comcast and ask for a software update if it's available, not sure what else to do.

Data use

Hey guys just wondering how much data you all get through in a day, I'm doing about 400-500mb a day on my m7
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Wow, 400 MBs a day? That's quite a lot.
I use less than 50 MBs a day, I mostly just browse using BlinkFeed and maybe just one video, or streaming a few songs when I'm not on wi-fi.
it shouldn't be using that much...
please call yr telco to verify if everything is ok because most modern smartphones support this feature called fast dormancy if u ar enot actively using the data network
That's a lot! I use 1Gb per month!
