Hello everyone,
I have been using my 4x HD for 1~2 weeks now, and i have gotten a problem
I have been using my phone alot ! and then it was almost empty, so i charged it over night, it was only 34%! so i have been playing games over charger, and with usb connection to my laptop it even discharges about 5% in an hour maybe, so i have turned off my phone, plugged in over night in the wall charger, with the battery icon charging (the screen you get when you plug in charger when its off) and now i turn it on, and its only 44%, i have done battery calibration, doesnt change anything... what to do?
i have installed cpuspy now as i have read stuff about it, it doesnt show any sign of deep sleep, only the lowest is 51mhz...?
Regards, Tomaat
The LG P880 goes into USB mode charging when the temperature reaches above 40 degrees Celsius.
Perhaps one of your apps is running in the background and heating up the phone above 40 degrees Celsius and thus the slow charging.
Charging your phone while its off will work.

as i wrote, it didnt work either when turned off, i left it over a night of charging, (8-9 hours) and it was still <50% im sure it charged whole night, power hasnt been off, thats rare in my country
so now.. ?
It even discharges at wall charger... i can only charge While its off
The issue here for a fact ...is tje battery, look at the battery. Take out battery and place in flat surface. If it is not parallel to the flat surface, it is bubbling, laymens terms need a new battery.
Second check the cable and make sure it is not ripped or twisted at both ends.
Third, the contact from the usb and phone may be damaged, might be an unlikely suggestion , but there are people out there who cant connect the cable to phobe properly, not judging or making any uneducated assumptions.
Hope this helps

Maybe your problem same with me
People say the phone wont charge well because of over "heat"
But, even my phone has normal heat, the problem still same
It happen when i upgrade firmware to v10f, when i downgrade firmware to v10a it doesn't happen.
I just keep flashing flashing again, v10a to v10f to v10a to v10f again and again
And guess what? my phone can charge normally

There is no need to flash over and over untill get the "right flash".
The importante is to do a "clean flash".
The best option is to downgrade the FW, factory reset, web upgrade, ROOT, and factory reset again. :victory:

Hi guys
I have an Optimus 2X which get really hot when charging.
After a little while it gets so hot that the phone turns itself off and wont boot until cooled down. Overheating protection i guess?
The battery cant hold power and drains in minutes.
So the battery is dead yes? Or could it be the phone?
Did you use the original usb cable with the original battery and the original charger (if you don't use a computer) ?
Moreover, you can install battery life. It indicates the temperature. Tell me what temperature it gives you in cold and hot mode.

Well if the battery is getting very hot then its most likely the battery, stop using it while its charging for starters heavy use with high cpu load combined with the heat of charging can produce alot of unwanted heat, but yeah if the battry isnt holding charge then its the battery so change it and see what happens.
try the blackbery charger first, if it's still too hot i think you should buy replacement battery
I had the same issue with mine Lg 2x with lg stock rom and froyo it was hot like hell!!! Than I switched to another ROM and the phone was OK !
Ergosum
I used the original charger and cable.
Now it won't charge at all with the original, but my HTC charger works. Still gets hot though.
Battery Life shows a temperature at 42-45' C when charging and 35-37 at standby.
But I've looked a little closer and actually where the phone gets hot the most is on the phone itself right above where the battery connects to the phone?
Eraldo
I don't use the phone at all when charging.

As said above I've tried using another charger. Same result.

Try a different ROM or kill the battery-stats with "Battery Calibrator" from the market.

I was using a wifi tether on my phone running PCForce's CM7 and my phone restarted (it was connected to my PC via USB) and when it came back on it said "Charging 0%" and whenever I unplug it it switches off, never seen this before but it seems, to me, like the battery has been fried anyone think the same.
I also have a spare battery that works fine, which also tells me that it is some problem with the battery, and running a wifi tether can heat things up a bit which brought me to that conclusion.
Anyone wanna throw any ideas on if its possible to fix it, I am now using the battery that came with the phone but it has a crack near the contacts which doesn't fill me with confidence.

try with 600 mHz it solved the problem for me
With mobile data and Wifi tethering enabled, my phone can get up to 52 degrees celsius in some cases without charging. I usually turn the phone off and take out the battery for a few minutes for it to cool down. I guess a temperature that high is caused by overclocking. I'm not sure if its damaging or not but I do prevent progression of operations in that temperature.
I also have a crack on the battery. Had it for a few months now and no problems so far
How 'cracked' is it?

I don't think the crack will be that much of a problem. If you want, you could take it to someone experienced just to be sure.

It is a real shame because my previous LG phone was the LG Viewty and that was an amazingly well built phone. Cost ~£100 and came with an amazing camera and 3G front facing camera too. Shame it didn't have android. So I don't know why LG decided to go really cheap on the build qualities - you'd think having cracked batteries would have come up in their design tests but they probably didn't care...
I got the same trouble...

Hi guys,
I have an incredible S rooted and running on Android Revolution HD 2.20 . Had that ROM for a month without any problems until today I charge my phone while using my YooBao (11200mAh) external charger , and it told me that my phone consumes more power than the charge, please close all unused applications.
I was like totally lost. I had that charger for almost half a year and it worked perfectly on my device without any problems.
Now the problem that I'm experiencing is that my phone discharges faster than it charges. and that totally sucks. I need some advice,
Could it be my battery faulty or was it the charging port?
My thoughts are your "YooBao" has ruined either your battery or the phone itself.
Hopefully it's just the battery..
That's usually why phone manufacturers ask you to use their products in comparison to other "suppliers"
Update:
I flashed Nik's v4.5 over my ARHD and I tested it by leaving it to charge until 63%.
Feeling glad that at least it's charging up to 63% , I concluded that my port isn't damaged although I wasn't able to charge using my external charger. Pretty pissed.
I went up to my phone and used it while it was charging . To my horror , the 63% dropped to 61% while I was using and STILL CHARGING . WTF?
Now i'm gonna wipe all my apps and do a clean flash and no titanium backups for me .
God.. help
Did you have gps WiFi or large processes running in the background? It could easily do it.

Well , initially I thought it was , until I wiped my phone and didn't restore my apps and I'm sure it wasnt the processes that are causing this **** . Charge my phone overnight and my phone stops charging , woke up to find that my phone is only at 50% charge and the percentage drops super quickly.
Can anyone tell me whether the charging port or the battery is covered under warranty if it's within my warranty period?
Any advice whether I should get an Ankers' battery or should I purchase another original battery that cost me SGD$68?
Couple of things you could have a look at. Check in your battery menu that your phone is on AC charge mode. Also install current widget to see how many mA your phone is drawing while in use and to check the difference when its on charge. The original charger supplies around 900mA to the phone @ around 10%.

After a day of test.
Finally I got tired of it and I did a simple test to really test whether my battery is draining too much or not.
I plugged in my phone yesterday night to charge at the AC adapter, surprisingly it was charged to 100% straight with no problems.
I was tired alrd and I used an iPhone 3G as a spare phone. Throughout the day I carried 2 phones out and I noticed something:
At the end of the day, my InCs still had 78%. (WiFi 3G off) .
It means that the draining of my battery is not as bad as it seems. The real problem is that I am unable to charge properly.
When im charging at 61% , I use the phone when it's charging, the percentage can drop to 58% (which is not possible as my GPS is not on) .
So advice people:
Should I?
1) Get a replacement battery,
2) Bring to the service centre (No warranty left and pay)
Do you think:
1) Port problem
2) battery problems.
Let me know

It's for me a usage problem, got the same message too. You're running too much apps at once and never use a taskkiller. You also had GPS WiFi and Mobile Network on and maybe at full brightness. Close apps, I think you need not GPS while charging and if you have a WiFi connection mobile network isnt to be on.

Depends what you call moderate... when I'm using only as a phone, answering and making calls, lasts for more than two days, with wi-fi on (except when "sleeping".
Of course that if I'm using Navigon for 1 hour without charger its normal that the battery disapears
I use the display light at 50%, no power saving activate, and like I daid before, only using as phone at least 2 days (I don't receive calls or make them every 2 minutes of course)
How exactly does one calibrate the battery?
my moderate, i mean lil gaming and whatsapp all the time..
plus wifi always on.

One way is to drain the battery until its finished then recharge it.
another is to download apps like this to do a better job but you need to be rooted.
Just don't disconnect the charger when the battery reaches 100%. Keep it plugged in for another hour or so.
When pulling the plug as soon as the battery supposedly reaches 100%, my battery drops to 50% in no time, but when keeping the charger plugged in, I manage to get 3+ days with the exact same usage pattern (moderate usage on 3G with autosync on) out of the phone.
Finally activated my account. Can help you new guys out with this phone now. For charging my battery, I use an app called "Easy Battery Saver". Don't be mistaken, I only use it as a timer for when to unplug my phone.
Steps:
Drain your battery to somewhere like 15%.
Allow your device to cool off, perhaps for about 20-30 minutes?
Next, reboot your phone and see if the battery level is still below 15%, if its not, drain it again to below 15%.
Next, open "Easy Battery Saver" and just enable normal mode.
Plug in your phone to charge, and the "Fast Charge" bulb will turn yellow.
For me, I usually unplug my phone the moment the "Trickle Charge" bulb turns yellow.
I don't know for you guys, but trickle charhe scares me as I've seen some bad cases before.
Although the stock LG kernel might have prevented trickle charging, I'd still not risk it.
Finally, after you unplug your phone, ensure that you always drain it to 15% and below before performing a full charge. Please do not unplug or plug in your phone before 100% or below 15%.
In addition, it is not good to "heavily use your phone while charging.
Hope this helps. Just to let you guys know, I've been in this forum for ages, just that my account was bugged and I couldn't post anything. I have an adequate amount of knowledge for the phone, and if you can't understand some other tutorials, like somboon's from thailand, (don't blame him), feel free to send me a pm. I'll help you understand step by step.

It's been told here on xda a thousand times: Deleting the batterystats.bin will NOT calibrate your battery or something. That file is created new every time you charge your phone. It's just for statistics. Proper calibration can only be done on hardware level, like on the Nexus One/Desire with the Nexus One Battery Calibration App. But that's not applicable for our devices. If your phone dies out too soon (mine does, too) it's most probably some bogus app that keeps the system awake. However, i didn't find out yet which one is the problem. Can those who deleted the LG apps confirm a higher capacity afterwards?

Why you still in V10F?
Have bluetooth OFF helps... GPS generaly is activated only when some app need it, soo, check the apps settings instead of turn OFF the GPS...
Wi-Fi you can set it to be ON only when you're using the phone, means that the screen turn OFF and the Wi-Fi too...
DATA is good to be OFF, even for you to spare some money.
Other apps can be draining your phone.
You need go know better the device and the apps, what resourses they use and how they work, then, decide what to do with them.

Tried this one but battery keeps on draining (me too)
After I flashed the new IC 3.0.5 i got a huge charging problem.
At first my phone charged very slowly. First I thought that it is a consequence of the hboot update. But it isn't.
Then over night and today there was no charging at all. I nearly cried.
Now that I reflashed IC 3.0.3 my phone charges again.
Now my question: is my phone bricked? With GSAM battery monitor and other programs or the #xxx# method with the dialer
everything says that my battery is ok. When I connect my phone to my PC there is no problem with the connection but the slow charging still is a thing.

Now my question: is my phone bricked? With GSAM battery monitor and other programs or the #xxx# method with the dialer
everything says that my battery is ok. When I connect my phone to my PC there is no problem with the connection but the slow charging still is a thing.

Do you even know what "bricked" means? You can use the phone, and it charges. What's with the brick question? I'm not trying to thrash you, but you could at least find out what bricked means before you asked such stupid question. To answer your question - no, it's not bricked

I know what bricked means. Just after the last flash it doesn't charge like it did before. I just want to know why and (if) how I can fix it.

How long does it charge? My phone charges about 2.5 hours from 0% to 100% on my current ROM. On some other ROMs I tried it charged almost 5 hours. Anyway, slow charge is even better than fast one if you ask me. Your battery doesn't heat as much and thus getting charged better and lower amp values give more complete charge than high values from faster charge

What??? Did you try with another charger? Dou you have fastcharge option enabled? For me fastcharge slowed down normal charging. Anyway, 10 hours is waaay to long. You can backup your ROM anf flash another just to se how it charges on other ROM. If it's the same, then you have a hardware problem

I didn't have fastcharge enabled. I have no kernel for it installed. I have a 2amh charger and when i play games on the charger it discharges. I don't know if that has something to do with the firmware update on 6.xx or is it because my rom isn't on the 6.xx base?

Firmware shouldn't cause it. I'm on old firmware, bit my phone charges fine. As I said, try some other ROM and see if it charges fine to rule out hardware fault. If you want to deal with backing up and reflashing that is. I remembered one more thing just now. What recovery do you have?
Mine phone also discharged when playing games connected on charger. Without touching it, it took about 5h to charge, stock unrooted phone. Turned out that problem was in USB extention cord i used between charger and phone.. Now it charges in 2,5h.

I did a Factory rest last night and now it seems to charge faster about 10% in 3/4h. I use the twrp 2.6.3.3

That's good. Maybe some files were left behind in battery stats that caused strange behaviour. TWRP 2.6.3.3 is fine. Some later releases had charging issues, that's why I asked

my phone running stock firmware and sometimes it experiences slow charging as well...
i wonder if it is because of the background apps that are running or smth?
Funny thing. I've experienced this mythical slow charge exactly twice now, and so I decided to search around today. I am running ARHD 71.1 with ElementalX 14.2.
Both times it was not fully charged when I woke in the morning, and when I checked the battery history it charged at about the same rate as it had drained the previous day, which is obviously weird.
I'm wondering if it has to do with the way I plug it in or something. Or maybe there was a kernel anomaly (the next day I tried the old turning it off and on again, and it hung on bootsplash for a looooonng time, but then managed to boot. weird). :silly:

That's the same thing that I experience. I've not solved my problem for 100%. From time to time the "strange-charging-ghost" comes around but I don't know how and why. I just plug and unplug a few times and then its pretty normal. I hope that I don't have to get a repair because A: I am out of warranty and B: I don't know if it could get fixed. Anyway I just did a factory reset and flashed a RUU and everything was pretty normal.
Ps: my Diagnostic centre *#*#4636#*#* says that my battery is OK
