[Q] Safestrap 3.05 shared data between slots - Motorola Droid Bionic

Is it at all possible to compile a safe strap where all 'slots' communicate off of the primary slot (usually stock);such a process exists already in Linux. They would act like logins with the same apps but the user settings would differ.
The point of this would be an enhancement to the slots as you could have all the tweaks with one slot and alternate while holding all data. With safe strap 3.05 i think it is within grasp considering that ss3.05 allows you to so easily swap between them. Id engineer it, But I'm not very far along in my android languages. Some constructive feedback is welcome.

Great idea. One draw back between switching Tom slots is in the incoherence between data in apps like call log and message.

Disappearing apps

Well, one minute apps were there, then the next minute I couldn't find them.
It looks like transferring apps from the system memory to the sdcard is the cause of this. I didn't have this problem when I had Tbolt. Can somebody duplicate this problem?
Also, I managed to crash the system while copying 300+ files from one folder in sdcard to another folder in internal memory . The screen went black and buttons weren't responding. I had pull the battery out to reboot.
Moto worked on this phone for additional 9 months and still has bugs like these? All these are not good at all.
I had similar problems. After installing apps from the market, I could use them, but after reboot some would be gone. One app that was giving me fits was the xda premium app. I think I reinstalled our about 5 times.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was playing the free version of Tetris that EA put on the Market, and I got a call while I was playing.
I picked up the call, finished it, and when I went back to the Home screen I held down the Home button to go to recently used apps and Tetris wasn't there. So I went into my App list and... Tetris wasn't there.
I went into the Market, and it said it was never installed.
Either I hallucinated the half hour before a phone call interrupted my psychotic perceptions of tetriminos, or the phone deleted the app all on its own.
Really strange.
I too had the same problem. Just download again and they stick.

It just happened again. I was transferring some files to the internal memory to sdcard, and the screen didn't wake up. It seems the system is running behind the screen, but I can't see anything on the screen.

I too have seen my XDA app disappear. Based on the layout of the stock launcher now I know other apps are missing, I just haven't figured out what...

Had same issue after reboot. Had to re-install apps. I've haven't tried to reboot again. I did download MyBackup so went ahead and backed up my apps and data. The weird thing is, when my apps disappeared and I had to re-install them, they didn't need my usernames or pws to be re-entered. So it seems the data was still there.
UPDATE: Rebooted and it happened again.
Same issue here, lost about 8 apps after reboot

Happening to me as well, I just moved everything back from the card onto the phone
I was able to fix the apps disappearing by going into manage applications then the media area tab and making sure that no apps were checked. Any that were I moved back to the phone.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but the Bionic, like the D3, is configured differently than other Android phones. The /sdcard partition is actually the internal storage... part of the 16GB the advertise as internal. The removable SDcard is /sdcard-ext. Not sure if that is a contributing factor. I've not seen that problem but I'll keep an eye out for it.
I'm coming from a og droid, so moving apps to the sd card is like second nature to me. I feel i just have to do it even though this phone has so much internal srorage in comparison. Is it possible that the problem is the sd card itself?
I didn't think about that, so when you move them is it going to the sd ext or the internal storage (sd). I did notice the sd and sd ext are different.
The same thing happens on reboot for me as well. I just go into titanium and restore each time which is a pain in the a$$.

so unlike other android phones currently in the market, MOTO made the real sdcard (sdcard-ex) almost obsolete. It's only dedicated for media storage and sharing.

This is so utterly ridiculous. I had to put all of my apps BACK onto my phone. Why even offer the extra storage if we can't use it to store what we'd like. I don't keep that much media on my phone.
Anyone tried another sd card? I'm thinking about wiping the one from my old phone and putting it in this bionic.

I have a 32gb I pulled from Tbolt, and I formatted it. One thing odd though, Titanium only reports 29gb available instead of 31~32 after the format.

edited to say there is a zip file around that may work ,we will have to ask cellzealot
That zip file is for use with radiocomm only. Radiocomm isn't supported on linux:-[
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
There is a way to do this like we did for the DX and D2 in update.zip format.
We haven't released it in this form because the entire subject of free tethering has become a very high profile and controversial matter and has caused us a lot of grief, including having our app pulled from the market and many other issues surrounding this exploit.
We may decide to release it again in this form, but leaving it as a pure hack that involves a PC and serviceware raises the bar and forces users to take greater responsibility for their actions.
Using the NVM tables I posted in that thread will automate the NV writes in RadioComm and work on any device.

No, it won't...that is why we haven't re released it for MDM6600 chipset devices.
This is serious business with a capital "B" for Billions of dollars at stake!
People don't seem to realize this and understand why the carriers and OEMs are trying so hard to put an end to it and limit its use.
We have very mixed feelings about packaging it in such a way that anyone with a rooted device can flash an update.zip having no concept of the underlying principles and or liabilities for theft of services.
Before we ever released it the first time we had serious reservations about it that turned out to be true. This is one of the primary reasons for moving to SIM based authentication for all future LTE devices.
disregard the PM
I knew if anyone would know it would be cellzealot, thanks again
Disregard the PM dsw361,I was so tickled we finally got wifi here in the country

[Q] How to re-link my purchased APPs to ANDROID Market

I recently un-rooted my DROID BIONIC for when a replacement was necessary.
While rooted I had to re-run a STOCK Script/Utility to restore my connectivity issue with my BIONIC LAPDOCK ( ie I HAD no connectivity Webtop was blown away ).
That remedy restored WebTop capability to the LapDock, but now my ANDROID Market lists nothing when I select " My APPS " . If i search for them individually it acknowledges that I paid for them, but the list is <NULL> itself .
Do I have to re-root to re-link to the Market and if so, what do I run ?
Thanks in Advance !
I love my BIONIC ( even though I replaced 3 of them in 2 months ) When they work they work great !
Just download one of the paid apps, and download a free one. Your market should fix itself
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
This happened to me recently too and App Manager in the Rom Toolbox did the trick. It makes it possible to link to the market or break that link (root required).
Thanks for your input(s) .
ROM Toolbox Pro is one of my paid apps .Who knows, Its is likely that I severed the link(s) by my own hand ( and a heavy thumb ! ) by accident with that very tool . I will re-root and try that . I guess I have to manually search and download them individually before I can get the complete list back in MARKET . ( if I can remember ALL the APPS I paid for )
Thanks again !
There are a lot of threads all over the web about My Apps area being empty. It is across all phone platforms. It doesn't seem to strike too many and it seems to be a Google issue.
Good luck.

My market has been broken, even before I rooted, or changed from the stock ROM. Google said they were looking into it for the Bionic, as of now I have the latest market but it still failed to link. My theory is I update my apps before the market updates and after it has, that's when it brakes. Still no update from google on a fix. But with the new update from moto will try to let the market update first before downloading my paid apps maybe this time it won't break

This is actually what started it all for me. I used the Market Doctor accidentally and right after My Apps was empty. And it's only this account. I have four other Google accounts and the system apps show up just fine in those. It's only in my primary that I have an empty app page. I have tried the clear cache and force stop server method only to see my paid apps for a moment then it goes right back to nothing.
And I found myself a solution. While titanium backup wouldn't work to fix my issue it wild seem ROM toolbox has. Just install it (you have to buy it as the free version wont allow you to use the market fix) and select all apps in the market fixer. Run market fix and restart your phone. It may or may not work for you but its worth a shot. Good luck.

I switched to Eclipse v1.2RC1 from 1.1.1 and My Apps came back on its own.
I reinstalled and relinked with ROM Toolbox and made a Titanium ZIP file for good measure. Hopefully future "stable" releases will still have that functionality as I am liking the Eclipse "flavored" series very much
Even though technology will leapfrog I hope my BIONIC will serve me 'til my Verizon 2 year commitment extinguishs.
With the killer ROM devs that appear here on XDA I don't think I need worry !
Missing apps are a google issue
I have two bionics, a nook color rooted with CM7 and a Logitech Revue. I have had each of these devices with various ROMS, and various versions of Market/vending.apk. The earlier version of vending.apk will show my apps, however as soon as the phone updates itself to the latest vending.apk, the apps dissappear, redownloading them does not help. Also I have two other accounts linked to my Bionic, they show "some" of the downloaded apps. There has been no rhyme or reason. The other thing to not is when you try to search for my apps on earlier builds of vending.apk, it gives a server error, like if the servers have been changed since those versions.
What irritates me is that my kindle fire shows the apps on my account just fine. Just not on my bionic. By the way us everybody else running 3.4.4?

Not a single one of them shows up. Not even system apps. When I freeze the google framework they show up for a minute or two then are gone again. I had it working for a little while then bricked and had to redo everything. Unfortunately I lost it all.

I've had this problem since I bought the bionic in October. Never worked, ever. Tablet works OK. Even stopped working on my other phones. Went to google support and discovered it was a market bug, but no resolution. Two weeks ago...I factory reset my bionic for some reason and it worked. Just to confirm, did it again the next day. It worked again. And to be sure, I did it again before writing this.....so it suddenly started working after a factory reset...
Who knows....

So I haven't quit looking into what actually causes the market "My Apps" issue. While I do feel it truly is the database I have a slightly more detailed theory as to why it does it. However in order to test this theory I need to take a general poll.
How many of you discovered this issue after using some sort of Root tool (ie: Rom Toolbox, Root Tools, Titanium Backup)?
How many of you have accidentally or on purpose used the Market Fix that supplement these programs?
The reason I'm asking is semi obvious I suppose. While these programs can do great good it would appear that if not done correctly they can also do bad. Last night I decided to play with it a bit more and I Linked ALL system apps and user apps to the market. After a few minutes or a reboot I would get the error again. So I went ahead and broke all links again, deleted the .dbs file and started all over again. This time only doing system apps and user apps that I knew were updatable. This lead to the market functioning much better. However I'm not finished yet. I want to figure out what apps and programs trigger this. At this point in time most User apps are okay but I have found I have linked considerably less system apps to the market. What I would like to ideally do is narrow the list down to just a few apps that shouldn't be linked.
Also if anybody would be so kind as to copy and share their database file that would help tremendously. This file needs to be completely stock having NEVER used any of these programs to edit the market links. Sharing this could potentially help all Android users having this extremely annoying issue. If you would like to keep the amount of users who this down to just me you can PM me or even send it to me over Skype or some other messenger with a file share tool. Thank you all in advance.
For those of you currently having the issue I have posted a fix here: http://rootzwiki.com...market-my-apps/

[Q] How do I copy all apps/data/settings from one N7 to new N7?

Hello,
We have an Nexus 7 that I bought on launch day. We really like it but missed the lack of multi user support out of the box. I bought an app called SwitchMe that allowed us to have multiple users, but had to root to use it. I won another N7 the other day ( work for a company that makes a certain processor ) so I would like to copy all settings/apps/data for each user off the old tablet and put them on the new tablet. I tried doing a backup and restore with Wugs N7 Toolkit, but it didn't seem to save that much (23mb) and none of my home screen settings or apps came across.
I know my way around Windows and I work on linux machines daily, but I know diddly squat about Android. Can anyone point me to an idiots guide?
Thanks,
Chris
You could install a custom recovery and use it to make a backup of the device.

I am a researcher of bad deeds by corprocratic elites that run our world and if you didn't see this coming five years ago when folks like myself were shouting from the tree tops about these globalist controlled tracking devices then idk what to tell ya. If you are on the internet you have a link established with someone who is watching every move and unless you use an anonymous encrypted VPN to conceal everything you do and do not use social networking or any major search engine except startpage.com then the matrix already has you. And if you believe it is only the few companies named think again. A recent piece of legislation passed by the house and senate allows companies like telcos to get paid govt subsidies to forward information to these alphabet agencies AND more significantly removes any abilities you had to pursue a litigation based remedy against the companies doing this. And since it wasn't the govt spying on you directly, they now have an out for illegally collecting information on citizens. PS this was going on looooooong before the PATRIOT ACT was passed and this is the norm and not the exception. When SHTF economically here all too soon they will know who you are and who you may turn to for help. They will have completed their psychological profiling and prediction algorithms based on your past behavior and will know what you will do and when you will do it with stunning accuracy..
And if you scoff about this, you haven't done your research. Anybody remember that [open]BSD has those backdoors paid for by tax dollars? You think BSD is alone? Hahaha ..honestly in this day and age with the constant lies of the leadership laid bare at our feet you would have to be crazy NOT to realize these things and seek out their own words..

Most roms available are based on android, and only a few demo operating systems have been created that are not based on android for the Nook Color.
The Ubuntu Touch demo works for the most part.
Someone got open WebOS working on the Nook Color, but it might take a while to get it working on your part.
You could always port over your own OS if you are that desperate.
If you really want a kinda non google rom and that works well I would have to suggest the original rom that came with the Nook. Even though it is still running android it was modified by Barnes and Noble and is different than the android interface.
Ideally I'd love to see something with ghosting built in. The main reason I want to distance myself from android is to avoid the data mining/forwarding issue

I work on a project designed to compromise the data collection. Look up OpenPdroid and the auto-patcher. All system and app calls for data will still go through, but you will be able to either block or spoof the data returned.
Installation is not exactly trivial...we are working on that.
It's not a perfect solution, but ChameleonOS has a built in Permissions Manager in which you can control your apps.

From the posts I think many are not realizing that the spy features are BUILT IN TO THE CORE apps and frameworks of the OS especially where proprietary gapps are included. You could disable certain features but then it also wouldn't function properly for your own purposes. And if it is based on android it probably is riddled with the same issues.

Dump Google Apps / Get OpenPDroid ... Use ixquick Search Engine
I'm running CM 10.1 but I don't install Google Apps which makes a huge difference! GApps is the most invasive, nosiest app I have ever seen! Without that on your tablet you do not have to register the device or provide any info at all... no "setup"... Then I use pandaapps.com and other alternative app sites/ways to get apps. Right after flashing a ROM I also disable all location/GPS crap and go into the browser settings and do the same before enabling wifi. Then I make ixquick.com the search engine. On top of that I am working on installing OpenPDroid but it's not the easiest thing to do yet... the auto-patcher that works in Windows to compile the ROM and PDroid patches doesn't work with every ROM. But OpenPDroid will allow you to control what info and access apps get, by (for example) setting PDroid to give the app null, fake, or random data in place of real data. It's still not perfect but it's a lot better....
