Me too :silly:
I had this issue too!
I didn't reset the phone, cause I was 100% sure it had to do with the fact I messed with moving Apps on the microSD card, prior to the time I rebooted it. I searched a few websitis and found a topic over here saying that removing the microSD card most times solves the issue.
So I removed the microSD card and the phone booted normally, I reinserted it while the phone was on, no problem. But when I rebooted again, the problem occurred again.
I copied all the data from the microSD card, formatted it, put all the data back, did a filesystem check and then used the SD card again. Now it booted up normally.
So I think it could have to do with an error in the filesystem of the microSD card.

I formatted both internal and external cards and flashed a clean rom because the sd cards were full of crap and clutter but now when i try to use a file explorer it says '''SD CARD UNMOUNTED OR NOT PRESENT'''
I know its off formating the internal but what will make it recognise it again?

Every other time I boot
I have this exactly every other time I boot. Always need to reboot twice in order to keep my SD Card working. No joke - had the same issue with two different cards.
the way i fixed it was to clear the data/cach in the manage applications on the es file manager or what ever file manager ur using
One month ago i bought on ebay a 32 gb Mirco Sd, i put it in my phone which told me to format it: i did it and than it stopped to be shown in both phone or computer.
Ok, i thought i had bought a fake and i started again to use my old 16 gb Micro SD i've had for one year.
This morning i switched on my phone phone and it told me that it had a problem with the Micro SD and i needed to format it; i did it and since than it happend the same happend with the one i thought was a fake (now i'm not so sure).
It stopped to work anywhere!
Do anybody have any ideas to solve this?
clean the contacts on the card and the phone. Make sure your computer's reader can handle that size of sdcard. the computer usually can, but the reader may have a problem. Verify that it is formatted as FAT.
I cleaned the contacts and now my phone sees the micro sd: it only says "empty sd stick or unsupported filesystem", but in the memory settings i can't mount it and if i try to format it nothing happens.
The pc still doesn't see the sd, i've even tried with 2 different readers

Do u remove sd crd often, if u do then pls go to settings-sdcarf and storage and unmount your sd card or it will get corrupted. Its an amdroid problem. The rest part where it doesnt work anymore is wierd.

I remove it sometimes, but not that often, however i can't do that, because so far it still can't be mounted nor formatted and also it can be seen by the computer

I used to have this issue with my old sdcard. If you can get the computer to read it first try this :https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/. If that doesnt work try some software called partition magic and use it to format the card. This might not work for you but i was having the same issue as you and it did for me.

No probs, and the only way i could get the computer to read the sd card was using a card reader, multiple reboots, removing and re-inserting the sd card until it decided it wanted to be read....as you might imagine it took a while, good luck

try reinserting the sd card, clean the card slot..
if not
try to format it through a card reader and check whether it works.
if the card reader can detect the sd card you should try by resetting the phone.
Click thanks button if you value my reply :-D

The card slot is pretty sensitive, mine popped loose internally from tossing it on the couch. Kasvinda's advice is probably right on target
i can see my pics all the stuff on the card but when i try to download song or something keep saying need sd card
I had this problem the last time I attempted to install a ROM, which had failed.
The way I fixed it, I had to reformat the memory card in my computer, then in the settings menu.
You can still make a quick backup to the desktop at that. So you really lose nothing.
Can any one explain me how to format The sd card without loosing stuff
Suddenly my SD card stopped being recognized.
Cannot mount it, cannot format it under CWM recovery
I put in my laptop running Win 7 and I can see everything is on it. Still cannot format it even on Win 7. It says it is write protected.
Any ideas ?
Download Panasonic SD Formatter,
format with that.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda premium
Tried with Panansonic card formatter, but same message: Write protected !!
L.E.: Tried with another SD card .... everything is ok
The previous one is always reported as Write-protected no matter what I'm doing (valid while in Win7, 'cause the phone does not see it at all).
Anyway at least I still have my data on it and can read it on my laptop and transfer it on the other card.
If anyone has any idea on how to unblock the SD card will have a big THX from me
are you talking about an SD card or a MircoSD card?
*Some* SD cards come with a "lock" toggle on the card.
If you are using a standard SD card is the toggle in the lock position?

as stated in my first post, it stopped working suddenly, in the middle of the day.
It said "No SD card mounted" ... couldn't format it, nor re-mount it on the phone
I put it in my laptop running Win 7 and I could see all the data inside, can copy it, but cannot delete anything because it says it is write-protected.
Resolution ? changed the card with a new one .....then I just copied part of the data from the old one to new card.
Alright, that's weird, I hope no one else has this problem
I would hate this to happen to me, I bought a faster sdcard

You could try formatting it using diskpart in windows 7 or gparted in Linux

since I already bought a new card, which is working, and the old one still can access it's data, I see no reason to try and format it now.
At least knowing that it is blocked as write protected I'm sure that nothing can delete the data stored on it
Just recently installed the latest update on an att S10. After the reboot it gave a notification that said the micro sd card was in read only mode. I tried rebooting but same thing. I removed and reinserted the card and same message. I booted to the recovery menu and cleared the cache. After that I started getting a message that it was corrupt. I put it into my pc and the scan disk found nothing wrong. I was also able to read and write to it. Anybody else have this issue or do you think it was just coincidence that it started going bad at that particular time. In the meantime I am copying the data to a new micro sd and I will see how that does

Happened to me once. Took out SD card and put it back in and everything worked fine after that.
Same issue. Even tried a new SD card and becomes corrupt. Can't even format the card on the phone or through the PC. Still trying to troubleshoot a workaround on this but as OP noted, it's probably related to the new update
