A little help please.. - LG Thrill 4G

Well, I'm having a bit of trouble with my phone now..
I tried to reflash XBSall's original ICS using the LGFlash Tool, and after the flashing process, I can't seem to turn on my phone at all.
I get an error that I hadn't encountered when I first flashed ICS onto my phone. You can see the error in the screenshot I have uploaded [Error Screen.JPG]
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, that would be great. I am still able to boot into the S/W flash thing (which I also have in my attachments, it's number 2 of the images[DSC_0029.jpg] )
Thanks for the help, XDA. In the meantime, I'll see what else I can do.

[Q] Very bad brick situation

Hi everyone,
I have in the past switched roms on my Galaxy S before, therefore the issue of bricking my phone is something that doesn't intimidate me too much. However, this time i'm really stumped, and I turn to the gurus here at the forums, hoping a solution can be found.
I had just gotten my phone back from getting its screen repaired (which makes this especially irritating), and my carriers had flashed my phone back to their stock version of android, meaning gingerbread with a lot of bloatware. I decided straight away that I wanted to root my phone today, although I was away from my PC. I had my laptop with me (Macbook Air), but I had never done any flashing from it before, not to mention ever using Heimdall before (I had always flashed with Odin). I downloaded everything, and then I made my first mistake: I flashed a speed mod kernel (I believe it was a froyo kernel), and after reboot my phone wouldn't go past the splash screen. I could still get into recovery and download mode. Then I decided to try playing it safe, and I downloaded stock firmware packages for Heimdall fro the forums here. I tried flashing JVS on my phone, going exactly by the instructions written in that same thread that I found the packages, but the flash didn't succeed. Instead, I got an error message saying the PIT file didn't reach the end of the transfer (or something like that...) and the phone rebooted. After that attempt, the phone went black. Nothing works anymore except for download mode. Now I thought that as long as download mode works, I'll be ok, so I tried flashing different packages through Heimdall, and eventually when I got home I tried using Odin on my PC. The problem is, my PC doesn't recognize my phone anymore (even though the drivers are installed and I never had an issue with that before), so I'm pretty much stuck with a brick for now.
I really don't want to go back to my carrier again, and hope to get my phone back in working order without paying too much. I still think there's hope as long as download mode works.
Does anybody have any suggestions what I might be able to do? Since my PC doesn't recognize my phone (and therefore Odin doesn't either), the only semi-working option left is using Heimdall somehow, but as to how to use it, I'm in the dark.
I would really appreciate any help you guys can give me. Thanks a lot!
Aaron
first try reinstalling the drivers and try again. if you can get download mode, should be repaired.
Thank you very much!!!
I knew that download mode was a good sign, but I started freaking out as soon as Odin wouldn't recognize my phone, since it never has had that problem. Reinstalling the drivers did the trick, and flashing worked.
Sometimes the simplest solution is the best. Again, thanks a lot!

[Q] Stuck on Critical Failure:Unable to start Kernel.

Hi all,
This is my first post on XDA, but have found it useful in the past when needing info for my original G1 and later my HTC Desire, both of which I rooted and added custom roms on via the threads here.
Now though I am really stuck having cocked up an attempt to install Cyanogenmod 10.2 on my 4X HD.
I have a black screen with red text saying "Stuck on Critical Failure:Unable to start Kernel." and a few more lines.
I initially followed a guide at AndroidLegend but because the links in this guide went to Nightly's for 10.2 I decided to download a stable 10.1 instead. I can't post the link but the comments show the problems I was having.
The end result was that I never managed to install 10.1 and had just gone back to the original factory settings, but along the way on another forum I saw someone mention that the ROM may have the original phone name wrong and to take out the assert name in a config file, which I did (now knowing that that was the last thing I should have done). So upon rebooting I ended up where I am now.
I have searched thoroughly on these forums and have tried numerous fixes none of which none have been successful.
The one that I feel comes closest is this one by RuedasLocas (post number 7) on "Rollback Optimus 4X HD from 4.1.2 JellyBean to 4.0.3 Stock ICS"
I've followed it exactly and tried 3 or 4 times on different PC's and although I can see the phone in Device Manager and change port settings (LGE CDMA USB Serial Port to 41) etc, I never get beyond LGFlash Tool changing from "waiting" to anything downloading in Blue or failing in Red, nothing happens and my phone will just sit there in SafeMode whilst plugged in.
Can anyone suggest anything else that I need to do?
Many thanks if you got this far!

when you get to "waiting", plug out your cell phone, eject battery, put the battery back in and hold vol - while plugging it back into comp. lgflashtool should then recognise the device and start flashing.
another thing you can do is use kdz flasher, which has a bit easier interface when compared to lgflashtool.
Many thanks for the speedy reply Flying_Bear, possibly seeing some success, did as you said and a file downloaded to the device, however I am now seeing the image that I have attached.
It looks like it's saying don't remove cable and don't switch off and refresh?
Can you confirm what I should do next?
Thanks again

hmmm, truth to be told, i dont remember seeing that image appear when using lgflashtool. also, i've never seen anyone with similar problem to yours (unable to start kernel)
did you give it some time? if it didnt work, try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723; it's similar to lgflashtool, but no need to set up ports, and you can track the progress while it's flashing (lParam=x on pictures). try 20a kdz file, if that fails, report here with some more info on what the problem was. hope we can fix things for you
also, can you post the link on tutorial you followed to flash cm, just so i can check what steps you have done? just remove http from the link if you cant post it

It's working!
Just read your reply and as I wanted to wait to see what you might say I left the phone alone, so it was still attached to the pc showing that image.
I then unplugged it, held the power button down to power it down and then back on again, image of the android came up for a second showing as though it was updating, then the LG logo and then Setup started.
5 minutes later wifi and 3G were working and I was logged into Google.
So problem solved!
I'll hang back from updating further until I've read up more on XDA....thanks so much for your help though!

stuck like chuck. HELP!

hi everybody,
I'm stuck!
I' tried everything I can think of, I've search hi and lo and I cant find a fix for my problem. My phone for the last several months has been working flawlessly with twrp/trickdroid but since there dosen't seem to be any more support for trick droid I decided to put another rom on the phone. Now I've never had an issue doing things this way but something is screwed up and I could use someone who is smarter than me help. I wiped the phone and now I cant get my phone and pc to communicate. Everytime I try to adb sideload i get an error stating device not found. twrp recovery is still on the phone and i can still boot into the boot loader if needed. I just cant put my new rom on the phone. I've done everything i can think of, searched everywhere i think possible. this isn't my first android that iv modded but it is the first time i haven't been able to find a solution for my problem. please help!

Bricked G2 - Help me please

OK, this post might be long. Feel free to skim. I just want to let people know everything that I've done.
So, my VS980 was rooted and I was trying to install a new ROM. I was going to try out Cloudy G2, but the installation routine only gave me international variants to choose from. I picked one anyway and my phone has been hosed since. I didn't have any download mode or recovery or anything.
I was able to get download mode back by extracting part of the firmware out with the LG Firmware Extractor and flashing that through fastboot. So, that part worked. I have download mode. I was going to try to restore my 24A firmware with a KDZ file and the old LG flash tool v 1.8.1 (the one where you put the ADB interface on COM41, and you use the updated megaunlock.dll, etc), but that no longer works for me. It keeps giving me the "failed previous load" error. I can't find a fix for that.
So, I've been trying to flash it (or firmware 26) with the LG Flash Tool 2014 (the one where you pick "Republic of Korea"). That will only get to between 25 and 49%, and then crash with an unknown error.
In between trying that option, I found instructions for extracting all of the bits out of the firmware and then flashing them to the phone partitions one by one. That seemed to work except I kept getting a security error on bootup. The only fix I found for that was to flash with the first flash tool I mentioned. Ugh.
The last time I rooted my phone and ran a custom ROM, my desktop USBs couldn't communicate with my phone very well, but my laptop could. This time not even the laptop's working. I even bought a new USB addon card (I needed it anyway, the USB3 ports on this suck). That seemed to get the computer to see the phone better, but it didn't solve my problems.
Can anyone help with this? I've scoured tons of directions already.
Thank you for any help
Wackman
A little bit of progress
So, I finally got the older flash tool v 1.8.1 to start working. I've almost got it to flash the stock .TOT file (the KDZ file keeps giving me the "failed previous load" error). Now, I've kinda hit a new roadblock.
I think I mentioned that I got into this mess by trying to flash the CloudyG2 ROM, but that it's for international variants. When the flash tool tries to flash the firmware for the VS980, it thinks I have an F320S, and says wrong phone. Anyone know a way around this? I still only have access to download mode. No fastboot, no recovery, no ADB.
any luck? I bricked my G2 last night and I'm trying the flashtool to get back to stock 27A right now. Did you update your C++ library? I read somewhere that that can cause issues with flashtool..

Need help with stucked S7

Hi
I recently tried to root my phone from this guide: devs-lab.com/root-samsung-galaxy-s7-s7-edge
I followed the instructions and flashed this file from ODIN:
Samsung_G930x_QC_Rooted_BOOT.TAR
The file transferred ok and when the phone started rebooting it just stopped with a fault message on the screen.
Now the phone is stucked and i can't get contact with Odin. Odin recognizes the phone on the port but i cant flash to the phone.
The only way i have a chance to install on the phone now is with SD-card, because i am able to get to the recovery mode.
But when i try to install new stockware i just get signature failed message.
Does anyone know how i can get out of this mess ? I know its possible to turn of the signature check, but i cant get any options like this in the menu ..... BTW the phone is a G930F
I would really appreciate all help !
Thanks
Tom

Hi,
I dont remember exactly the fault message because my phone has been sent to service. But i will get it back in a couple of days. Then i will tell you the entire message. But is was something about kernel fault....
The service center says i have to replace the main board on the phone which cost almost the same as a new phone....
But i'm sure the main board is not broken...

Blah that's never good. Though I don't always trust things HAVE to be replaced at the hardware level. But it is what it is. Hopefully when you get it back all will be working for you! Unless it was just a bad chip, failing at the same time you were trying to write the new files to memory?

I think I did the same thing when I first got the Phoenix, and did not research and do not turn the OEM Unlock feature on. I messed up things and through a lot of reflashing and panic searching, got mine to come back.
I since have seen others post issues that sound horrible but have been recoverable. We'll help you try to figure it out once you get the phone back.

Hi, i finally got my phone back.
Been trying different things like installing new firmware by using the SD-card. And also by using ADB, since the phone allows me to install software through ADB.
But no matter what i do the phone tells that signature verification failed.
I think one fault i did when installing the twrp custom recovery from ODIN i forgot to press the key combo and it started up with the original bootloader. Then it got stuck with the error screen i told you about.
I have uploaded a picture of the error message below.
If anyone knows how to get by the signature verification test then maby i could be able to install new firmware....
Thanks again, i will be grateful for any tips that could help me !
Best Regards
Tom

Good NEWS !!!!!
I managed to get the phone working again...
What i did was:
Holding the volume down, home and power button at the same time. When the phone went black i plugged in the USB cabel from the computer.
The error message came up 2 - 3 times but i kept holding the buttons.
Eventually it went into download mode and i used ODIN to flash the firmware...
I hope this could solve the problem also for others facing similar issues.
Thanks to BWolf56 who posted in a forum here. His tips fom 2011 .... helped me.

Great to hear... Good luck from here on out!
This is a good sign not to listen to tech support. They don't know, or mess with this stuff, as much as us!
Happy flashing and hope no more scares from here on out...
