Hey everybody.
I love the new icons in JellyBean (XLS7) but i use Nova Launcher because i like it more because of Launcher Backups, Folders and so on.
I use Alliance ROM - Is it possible to extract the Icons like Gallery, Camera, Browser and so on - and use them in Nova?
I know i can use png's in Nova but i dont know how to extract the TW Icons
Hope you can help me !
Bye
Erich
Extract the alliancerom.zip and you can find all the apps either in system/app or data/app
For example,If you need to extract the camera icon, then go to system/app/samsungcamera.apk
Then extract samsungcamera.apk and go to res folder
You could see a set of drawable folders and there you can find the app icon:good:

Hey all,
Just found it out myself, so I thought let's share it with the people who don't know it yet!!
WHAT YOU NEED:
1. A file explorer.
2. A launcher on which you can change icons like Nova Launcher or Apex Launcher (both in Play Store/App Market).
3. A MIUI theme with a lot of icons (like Suave Redone).
WHAT TO DO:
1. Change the theme name from {themename}.mtz into {themename}.zip
2. Extract the .zip file to a place where you can find it back easily.
3. Search for the icons file in the folder where you extracted {themename}.zip to, and rename it into icons.zip
4. Extract that file also, to a place where you can find it back easily as well.
5. Long press the icon you want to edit in the homescreen in your new launcher. It should show edit or something like that.
6. Press the icon, and press: select picture.
7. Choose an icon in the folder where you extracted your icons.zip to.
This should have changed your homescreen icon. NOT your app drawer icon. You will have to do them one by one, just repeat it from step 5 on if you're changing an other icon.

You can also download normal icon zips and install using your launcher. I find this preferable as nearly all miui icons look the same to me (slight variations of the same square).
It worked
worked just fine on my nexus s 4.0.3 with miui icons that i've found on google
Thanks! MIUI icons is really nice, if i can apply MIUI icons to normal ICS rom.. this is prefect.
But in MIUI v4 roms have problems apply MIUI icons, the phone icon is not changed...
awesome! thank you mate!
Thank you! I even forgot I made this thread

Or..... Just download the MTZ theme and extract it with 7zip then find the icon folder and drag it out.

Hi last question then im nearly finished making my rom...
How do i get rid of LGHome and add go launcher??? and how do i change the launchers icons..
thanks again
Open your rom zip file, navigate to /system/app/
remove LGHome.apk, and add GoLauncher.apk
(I think that the launchers' permissions will be changed, but if not, change it's name to LGHome.apk)
or you can just keep LGhome and let users choose whatever launcher we want, dont you think?
think we should leave the stock lg launcher, you should be able to choose just add golauncher

but how can this be changed in the rom, before it was flashed? Is there a possibility to use a different launcher by replacing the original launcher.apk in the custom rom with 7zip or winrar, before I flash it?
e.g. i want to change the XperiaLauncher to LauncherPro
Extract the zip (rom), goto system/app/ delete xperia launcher and replace it with launcher pro (as you mentioned in above post).
Also similar for theme goto app in the roms zip and delete the theme, replace by xperia arc.
Rezip the rom and flash..

it's possible... i use winrar to open up apk's.... open up Nova via winrar and check the drawable-hdpi folder... you will need hdpi size pngs and replace them with the one's in the folder thats how you will change the UI look of it

I want to add an icon pack to nova...

For you who likes to use third party launcher but still want to keep on using the gesture rather than oldschool navbar button, there's a work around (I've tested it on my 10T)...
What you need:
1. A little bit of knowledge on how to modify a theme
2. Gesture app such as FNG
3. Third party launcher (I use Nova7)
How to:
1. Turn on the navbar button as your defauly setting and turn your gesture app up and running...
2. Put this script on your theme:
Save this script on framework-res > themevalues.xml
<dimen name="navigation_bar_height">0.0dip</dimen>
<dimen name="navigation_bar_height_landscape">00.0dip</dimen>
3. Set your theme and enjoy your new home screen using third party launcher + gesture...
Hi arbayxda,
Thanks for the tip, almost all works, excepet to hide the navbar....
Where can I found the theme folder?
I checked in the \MIUI\theme folder and saved the script to the framework-res folder but no luck...
I have MIUI 12.5.1, default theme, Nova 7.0.37 beta

Default theme should work, but unfortunately you need to have root access in able to save the script onto the default theme...
If you have custom ROM installed, all you need is a modified theme (mtz file) that you can download from any website, save the script mentioned, and import the mtz file via theme manager, then apply it
Ok, thanks, not a big problem, I can use the FNG. Every reboot, I have to disable the navigation bar in the system settings, and working fine.
I would like to ask a favour....
Just for test reason.
Could you pls create a .mtz file include the mentioned script to "hide" the navbar? Example the default stock theme will be perfect....
Because the mtz files installable on the stock ROM and no root required, just enough the MIUI Theme editor as I know. If working, anybody can really hide the navbar on MIUI 12.5 without root, of course, with the FNG....

My question to this is, Miui 12.5 on ID ROM (Indonesia ROM), can't apply third party theme... Although it is a default theme, when I extract the default theme, it's automatically becomes third party theme, it's no longer recognized as the default theme. I don't know if other ROM from other countries can apply any external theme. If your ROM can use a theme that modified by MTE, I surely can extract the default theme and save the script onto it. But it's no use if I make the theme, but your ROM doesn't allow you to apply third party theme... Pardon my English...

Yesssssss!
Working fine the modified stock theme on a non ROOT-ed MI 10T Pro (EEA)
So:
FNG
Modified stock theme with 0 pixel size navbar
MIUI theme editor ( inside the APP don't modify the theme, just next, next, apply, than install )
Thank you so much the help, and the patience!

Hi,
I really would like to test your modified theme too.
Sent you an access request on gdrive
Thanks
Hi arbayxda,
I tried your modified theme on my device (Redmi note 10) and it worked... half !
After being imported and installed with MIUI Theme Editor, the theme can be applied and the nav bar gets hidden.
But for some reason, after nearly 2 hours or so, the theme gets automatically replaced by the default one (maybe because it comes from a different device model)
So It's not a success for me, but I know now that it can be done on an unrooted RN10 (I can now investigate more...)
Oh and, the file to be edited in framework-res is theme_values.xml (not themevalues.xml)
Thanks again for the help and informations
I also sent request for gdrive.
