It's good to know because I will get HTC Incredible S 2-3 months later. It's one of two phones I will purchase this year (the other will be LG G2x).
Except Vibrant 2 (SGS 2) comes to T-Mobile (root it and rock with "sub-$10 internet), I'd put it aside.

I think the pyramid is going to weigh a lot more. I had the G2 in my hands and it was way too heavy. The incredible S is just at my weight limit. Do you know of any lighter phones coming out soon?

In case anyone is interested. I've gotten around 4-5mb download and around 3mb upload speeds with T-Mobile in the US, which is the same speeds I get with my current phone, MyTouch 4G.
I was wondering if I would get the same speeds because one phone is 3g and the other 4g but you do get the same speed because the 3g phone is supporting 14.4mb downloads and 5.76mb uploads. So, one phone being 4g and the other 3g is not making any difference.

That's because 4g on T-mobile US is just a marketing term and the rest of the world still calls it 3g. So imported 3g phone from Europe = T-mobile US 4g.

Anyone with Total Internet (and in a "4g" zone) tried this? I got a G2 recently with the free upgrade, but of course it's IMEI is blocked and I haven't updated the plan yet. So, the phone is sitting unused. If the S works with Total Internet, I'd prolly just ebay the G2 and pick one of these up.

S710E. I have that model and it works great on tmobile. reception is eh though.
Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. Now I can buy it and feel somewhat comfortable. I know there are a couple different types and I didn't want to make a $500 mistake.
I saw a deal for an unlocked "world" version of the note and I am on TmoUS. So if I buy the note, will I be able to use my unlimited data plan with 3g or H? I am confused reading the forums on the att side and this one...they're saying I can only get edge? Because that would really suck.
I'm on tapatalk and can't do a decent search on xda via app so if this had been asked already, just point me to that thread and I will gladly have this one deleted. Also, the desire to get the unlocked note is a spur of the moment kinda thing since the deal is only available for one day. Btw, unlocked note is selling for 585 with shipping from 1saleaday.

what they said is right you will only get edge speeds on tmobile with the inter.. Note...If you use AT&T then its no big deal.
I am also on tmo. I found an article that says you can run tmo hspa+ on att note so I'm going to try and trade line on Craigslist. Edge is killing me man.

that depends on the frequency of the 3g network in your area.
however, this is the first I've seen it mentioned that American t mobile has any other 3g bands than 700mhz.
So I'd say no, you most likely will not get 3g speeds.
The N7000 will only run on T-Mobile edge. If you want 4g you have to AT&T or Straight Talk.
This is true. T-Mobile Sucks! EDGE just blows and I am amazed anyone uses it.
Oh well. I am going to try straight talk in a few weeks to see if that is any better.
Well, EDGE is downright terrible...no one can argue that. If you want to use T-Mobile, you're better off getting the AT-T note, unlocking it, then installing the right modem files to use it on 3g/4g. I use T-Mobile myself, and decided to keep the Int. version...I think it's better, and the development community is WAY better, mainly because the device has been out longer. It's up to you really. Don't hope T-Mobile will be updating it's 1900mhz spectrum in your area anytime soon...it's a process I'm sure will take many years.

Yes they do number porting as long as it is not a at&t number because straight talk uses at&t network.
It sucks that it is more difficult to get the inter version to work on 3g or h on tmo. I did read that the inter version is better than att version and I do believe that development will be better with the inter version as it obviously covers more countries and it has been out longer. I really want this note but I'm just gonna wait a bit. I have a feeling those guys working on getting tmo to work on inter version will be able to do it. Wishful thinking probably but it is possible with all the talented devs out there. I guess I'm going to be on sensation for a while until tmo comes up with a phone as awesome as the note. Thanks for all the responses!!

FYI and I have heard of this issue before, Straight Talk gets varied reception in Metropolitian areas. Let me explain.
I have had ST for a few months now, on the NT7000. I have had zero issues.
A couple of caveats
DO NOT use more than 100mb/day or 2gb/month, whichever comes first. People have had their contracts terminated by ST for doing this. So not truly unlimited (but still more than decent deal). This is not a *hard* limit- I have done more without any issues by accident.
I get decent service in the suburb of NYC where I live (few tall buildings), actually much better service than Tmobile had.
However, in NYC itself, the service can be absolutely horrible depending on area. My guess for this phenomenon is that while you are on an ATT MVNO, this doesn't necessarily mean that you have the same roaming rights as regular ATT customers. In a metro area, roaming might be necessary to get signal in certain places.
My download speeds at 2gb down 1 up.
I would just buy a months' worth at first and try it out as prepaid, then port your number in.
From what I understand, you don't even need to buy the e71 like I did anymore

I do. I got it with the SGS II and ow with the Note. up to 3mbs download. Good enough. MediaNet is $10 a month unlimited, I don't use nearly 2GB maybe less than 1 as I am in WiFi most of the time. I am using a Cingular.wap setting. Its different than the "smartphone" APN but the speeds are the same (until LTE is available) I don't need LTE speeds on a phone. I don't even get those speeds at home on cable. maybe 7Mbs DL.
Anybody's feedback or expierence much appreciated

Seriously, dude? An extremely quick Google search would give you the answer.
For starters, the AT-T version of the Note will not natively let you use T-Mobile, period. DUH! You can easily hack it to unlock it...and within the last week, someone discovered that flashing a modem file from another phone allows you full access to T-Mobile's 3G/4G network. The International Note (GT-N7000) will only allow you access to EDGE speeds on T-Mobile...what I'm on now.
So, it's your choice.

I know I read about all what u said, but hows your edge on T-Mobile?
I was just wanting peoples feedback I've read the unlocked international is way faster then at&ts version but of course I'd unlock the att phone
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
How's my EDGE? ****ing slow! You won't ever pull more than 200kbps or so down at peak...that's EDGE by default though. It's a completely asinine thing to even have EDGE networks anymore. It's ever more asinine that T-Mobile is so slow at "re-farming" their 1900 band to work with 3G. I tried switching to Straight Talk, but I just got an email today actually that they can't verify my information? :-/
So if speed is a concern to you...go with the AT-T version. Though, you'll miss out on all the tremendous development here...which I think is more important than speed.
Edit: I've done speed test, where it's slower than 28.8k dial-up, and it brings back terrible childhood memories.

T-Mobile does not have LTE yet...and no this phone will never be capable of LTE. Who cares though? You honestly want a phone that can download at 343455MBPS and eat through your costly data plan in half an hour? You won't be able to tell the difference loading a web page at 5MBPS vs 50MBPS...or how ever fast LTE is supposed to be. It's all a marketing scam, just like the notion of a "limited" supply of bandwidth that all mobile manufactures force feed people with their outrageous prices and stupid caps.

So would u get the international over the att I'm using tmobile4g 60 unlimited plan 2gb of 4g data then after 2g is used it goes to 2g per month or leave tmobile and try straight talk I'm not in a contract btw
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
No contract? That's simple then! Straight Talk plus International...you get the best phone, and you don't have to go directly through AT-T...it's a win win! :-D
Trying to got Straight Talk myself, but they seem not to like the fact that I'm trying to use my T-Mobile number with an AT-T SIM...plus I have a 200 dollar contract cancellation fee. I wish I was in your boat.
As others have said, coming from Tmo myself, the choice is to get the international version with Straight Talk or the ATT version and keep T mobile. Honestly, I feel that this phone is a media hog and deserves LTE, as well as an unlimited plan.
Yes you will miss out on development, but if you are satisfied with the stock software then you will not miss much.
I had a feeling a while back while reading the i717 spec sheet that it would work with tmo, and decided to go with Straight Talk. Not a bad plan, but definitely on the slower end of 3G
I would honestly go with whatever comes out cheaper, if it does so by a margin of 100+ dollars
I got the att version In White cheaper than I could find a unlocked international black one, ordered a straight talk sim ill try this out If it sucks ill go unlock and do the T-Mobile hack. I really would of got the international by couldn't find a white one at a good price. I hope I don't regret it looks as the development for the international unlocked is way ahead. My question is would straight talk on the international and att been the same speeds?

Just got back from Paris. There were H+ networks there which were blindingly fast on the International version. However, I was concerned about exceeding the 50MB usage per day on my Vodafone-IE PAYG SIM, so I stayed on GPRS (yes, GPRS, no EDGE there).
Incidentally, I had no trouble with PAYG SIM card usage. The biggest failing is that if you continue a session beyond midnight without logging off, it keeps you on the previous day's allowance. That actually worked to my advantage, doing the bigger downloads over the midnight hour, to fill the previous day's 50MB. Sigh. The joys of International Roaming.
But at least the Samsung N7000 was faultless. What an incredible phone. Rooted, and stripped to bare bones (but still with Touchwiz) I get less than 1% an hour battery usage. A full day of intermittent (normal) usage left me with 46% after 24 hours. Unbelievable. Why did I bother to buy a spare battery???

I got this phone as a total impulse buy and didn't research. I am currently on Tmob and all I have is edge. How can I get 4G? Or should I just go to Straight Talk to get 4G.
You can either go with att or straight talk. I used to be on t-mobile and went to straight talk and data speeds are pretty good. I usually get 3Mbps sometimes as high as 6.
I get 7 down 2 up on att.
You will never get more than edge on t mobile.

Or get T-mo mifi
I also used the Note with Edge and T-mo, I used it on ATT with HSPA+ one moth and had very good speed so I am going to switch to straighttalk. However I also bought the Tmo mifi for when I travel and that works well to supply multiple devices with 4g.
I considered keeping my Tmo plan for the Note and using edge but keeping the Mifi around when I needed more speed. The only reason I do not do that is it would bring my monthly bill up to 60 and with Straight Talk I can get the same for 45.
You could try Net10 $50unlimited plan. I always thought they were a Verizon Mnvo but I guess they have agreements with ATT. I just ordered a sim so I can give them a try. Anyone have experience with their BYO plan?

Att and its resellers is the only way to get 3g on an n7000 unless you live in one of the few areas of the usa where tmo uses the 1900 band for hdspa. I use tmo myself and dont find 2g that limiting, as i have wifi everywhere i go, and 2g is adequate for gps when traveling.

Hi I am a prospective HTC One buyer (my iPhone 4S is getting wonky + i'm tired of the slow 3G speeds). I'm thinking of buying the One because I want to be on the 4G LTE network since it's the same price for my monthly bill but I don't know how good or bad 4G LTE is in NYC? I've seen some threads here but they are from a year ago or more so I would like to hear some real life experiences with LTE in NYC for sprint? I'm confused because in the news it's officially launched but when I go to the sprint stores, they say NYC doesn't have LTE??
I'm also thinking of getting the HTC One because of the free 23 Gbs for Dropbox - I know it's carrier specific (Verizon & Sprint). My question is, do you have to stick with the stock rom in order to keep using the 23 Gbs or what? I'm guessing it won't matter but I don't know if they can authenticate it somehow if you switch from Sprint's official rom to something custom.
Lastly I'm very confused about the bootloader situation - I remember hearing about HTC wanted to lock their bootloader or something to that effect. I just want to know if the HTC One can still be rooted and get the free tethering feature (with LTE support or just 3G? When I had an EVO, the tethering only worked for 3G, not WiMax) as well flash custom roms? Thank you!
I'm getting bored of my iPhone (which is crashing on me a lot) and even though I still have a year left on my contract, I am thinking about just buying the phone outright from sprint for the full price because I want LTE and that big ass screen lol.

I think Sensorly is available for iPhones-- if you download it, you'll be able to get a pretty reasonable coverage map of your area that's not from corporate (which is important because it may also show you areas where Sprint hasn't officially announced LTE, but still has it operational). And yes, you can can keep the extra space no matter what ROM you're on-- once Dropbox confirms you're valid for the promotion, that stuff remains server-side (otherwise, anyone owning multiple devices would be in for a huge headache).
Almost all HTC phones have their bootloaders locked, but Sprint's variant is unlockable as per usual by following instructions at HTCDev. When you do so though, HTC will log your device as being unlocked (since you need the unlock key from HTC to do so) and it may become a sticking point if you need to ever use manufacturer warranty.
4G tethering works as far as I know.

Thanks for the sensorly. According to the website, it says there is 4G in NYC! However, on the iOS app nothing shows up. I don't see any coverage of any kind (i.e. not for 3G, 4G etc).
Okay gotcha so it's still possible to root the HTC One but you just need a key from HTC and be ready to give up the warranty. Okay that sounds good! Anyone have any experience with their HTC One in NYC? I'm just curious how New Yorkers' experience with the One and 4G has been. I'm from Brooklyn btw but I go to Manhattan all the time.

Errr really? Try uninstalling/reinstalling it? And are you sure you're looking at coverage maps for Sprint? I can see something up top near NYC.

I second this I only get respectable 4G in Queens, and some parts of Brooklyn (around 20 down at like 11 pm) it's very spotty in manhattan.
