[Q] Is a gyro built-in? - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

A simple question and a small request. All the specs I found couldn't answer me the question whether the RAZR i has a gyroscope sensor. Could you, lucky RAZR i owners, do me favor and answer me this question?
To discover this information the free app "Android Sensor Box" can be helpful. If a gyro is built-in the icon "Gyroscope Sensor" is accessible and you could check the function of this sensor. If not this icon is grayed out.
Thanks for your support!

I was pretty sur it has one ... but the app tell it doesn't ...

That's what I suspected :crying: Unfortunately the gyro is the basic requirement for the photo sphere camera in Jelly Bean 4.2

Maybe it's built in but not activate... maybe ...

if it doesn't have a gyro, how does auto orientation work?
Sent from my XT890 using xda premium

For screen orientation is a less complex sensor sufficient. With a gyro is your phone able to measure the amount and speed of rotation in all axis.

[Q] Pls someone put jellybean 4.2 camera (photosphere) in jb-rom.

As http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1966302
I put those in JB_MINI_Project ROM, some works, but camera had FC.
Pls someone can make Photosphere work.
Did X8 developers don't interest in this new cool photosphere?
This new JB4.2 function is really cool, isn't it?
Can or can't X8 work fine?
This camera requires a gyro sensor which the x8 doesnt have. So you can forget it

No "gyro sensor" no photosphere
It's sad to hear that.
So that, thanks, I understanded.

[Q] any CM10 version which supports PHOTOSPHERE

Hi Everyone,
I am really excited about google's new photosphere and want to see it on my S PLUS.... so is there any ROM which supports PHOTOSPHERE :fingers-crossed:

first of all the phone needs to has gyroscope. and s+ doesn't have.:crying:
I think phone need accelerometr, not gyroscope because someone made running fix but it crash gallery apk.

Nope, its the Gyro. Our phone doesnt have Gyro, so were Screwed until someone patches it.

Accelerometer cant sense ALL the directions but gyroscope can.!

What's the difference between gyro and accelerometr? In gravitational field accelerometr measures g force so in effect we know our position in reference to earth. This same data as gyro only measured in other way, gyro instead of caunting acceleration just keep position parallel(thanks to angular momentum) to earth and from this the phone know where is earth. Simple physic...
so... i think the photosphere will work on devices which doesn't have gyroscope only if someone will modify the app to use accelerometers instead of gyroscope or to optimize somehow( for example: to use street view isn't necessary to have gyroscope to work) .i think that you understand what i've said (the ideea).

Yes. But who to make it? Or someone tell me what to modify, and i'll do it!:d
Thanx for reply
May i know if theres any app which is similar to photosphere, i have tried few of them but not happy after seeing photosphere....so let me know:good:
Accelerometer doesn't track vertical movement, only left and right. At least that is how I know it. Not really sure how street view works though. It may be possible but might need to wait a while.

Accelerometr work in 3d not only left/right, it give this same data as gyroscope, just it is a bit more vulnerable for disruptions, that's all.

U are totally right my friend ! But the problem is, that what if twist our device? Accelerometer is not that accurate and can't sense all the directions in all angles! That is simple coordinate geometry I would rather say.

Yes, gyroscope is more certain, but think logicaly - who twists phone while taking photos I think it is possible to port it, but of course it will have worse accuracy but still will work.

yeah but probably it works on that version which has gyroscope. i9000 international doesn't have gyro but is a version of i9000 ( canadian version i think) which has gyroscope. I have a friend which has a i9000 international version and he says that photosphere doesn't work

[Q] Proximity sensor issue

Hello everyone,
I have an annoying issue with the proximity sensor of my Galaxy Note. I have searched around but I can not find any answer to this common problem.
Regardless of the rom I am using, including the stock rom, the sensor fails to work - so the screen is not turning off during calls even though this setting is enabled.
Also, I have tested the proximity sensor using the tools on android app market as well as testing with the inbuilt one - always reads 0.
Any idea how to proceed? I am sure this would help a lot of people...
Have you tested it using the *#0*# and test the proximity there. May be a hardware failure

I did test it there. I get the same problem - just reports 0.
Does that basically mean the sensor is dead?
May be

I8190N auto brightness?

I'm a little disappointed. I bought touday I8190N and I can't set auto brightness. The sensor exists but doesnt't work. Is it used only for useless option for following my eyes function? Is possible to use it as ambient light sensor as usual?
Use Lux it will use the front camera, no auto brightness apparently.

Google Play says it isn't compatible with my I8190...
On Google Play it claims that app is incompatible with I8190N
Ignore that, it says that because our phone's don't have ambiant light sensor. I've installed it and works for me it uses the front camera too sense light.

How can I ignore it, as Google Play should be spoofed for downloading it, or even paying for full version? I don't have root yet on my I8190N,
and GP is preventing me from download this app. Maybe author shoud enable downloading for NFC version of S3 mini?

What values did you set for lux settings ?
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
I haven't changed any settings, but if you go to modify samples, then Luma there are 2 yellow bars with 1 & 255. You tap the bars to edit them if you like.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
i8190 doesn't have light sensor, and the standby function uses front camera (and it works really bad imho). So there's no way to do it
Using lux for auto brightness and no problems like on sensor. Just little edited values in LUMA

SGH-T599 ambient light sensor

I've read a little about the s3 mini not having an ambient light sensor. Is that the case with the T599 also? Would be nice to have auto brightness but not sure of it is a hardware limitation.

I also have s3 mini and it is shocking that no ambient sensor amd auto brightness. Very lame desicion by samsung. What are they thinking include everything and even nfc but no light sensor...

i donno why they dont built it into this phone. many dont need it but if you had one you will miss it.
PS: im just posting to get 10 posts to post in dev-are...its a really annoying limitation!
Simpy buy this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vito.lux
it works perfectly on my S3 mini and also on my tablet (also withou light sensor).
