Hey guys. I got to have some professional advice. My friend whose going to buy me a Nexus 7 in usa told me today that the 16gb version was sold out in the whole NY. So he asked me if I wanted the 8gb version. Is it worth it? Am I still gonna ask him to buy it?
Or am I gonna buy a 16gb version in sweden instead?
Peace

If you live in sweden i suggest that you buy a 16gig here, that way you will have no problem with ASUS warranty.

I got my Nexus 7 yesterday from newwegg and I didn't get the 25$ credit. I don't know if it may be related to my location - I live in Europe but I am visiting US now. Even if I try to access redeem codes from google wallet, I get the message "Gift Cards are not available in your location.". Anyone knows how to tell google that my location is now USA?
EDIT: Sorry for little off-topic - I found an answer to my question, in case someone is interested, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1838710
the thing that stands out in my mind
The way these companies justify their pricing is hilarious... one quote in the article states
Right now, Google only offers the Nexus 7 in two sizes, 8GB and 16GB. 8GB is an extremely small amount of space but it enables Google to sell the device extremely cheap at $199.
Click to collapse
Just seems rediculous for anyone to believe that 8GB more storage would cost $50 ... and with the cost of memory per GB nowadays it would be a no brainer to up it to 64GB and 96GB just to stomp out the competition...
I guess Google was thinking this would be a more wireless cloud based device but consumers are showing that we don't wanna go that way ... would make sense to meet the demand and just flip everybody out with memory numbers that are huge.... cheap way to set this tablet apart from the rest (besides the other things it's already got going)
Got my 16gb n7 a few weeks ago for £180 UK pounds + £15 store credit + Transformers movie. Otg cable gives me unlimited storage if I need it.
I don't think I would be able to get the 32gb model for this price when it comes out, so I am not worried.

Actually, I remember reading an article about this pricing that said the 8gb didn't provide any real room for profit and the 16gb version is more so that resellers could actually make money on the device.
At first this seemed true as I couldn't find a reseller that even sold the 8gb, but now most seem to, so perhaps the build cost went down.
As for a 32gb coming out for the same price as the 16gb now...I doubt it. This thing hasn't even been out for a year. As for the 8gb going to $99...no way. Not unless Google is doing a fire sale and dumping Android like HP with WebOS.
More realistic would be something like $279/229/179 pricing for 32/16/8gb versions...

Factor in a few costs like shipping taxes and profit of the reseller and most likely 20-25k. Still a good deal at that in my opinion. Of course I'm just speculating.

there have been rumours that both globe and smart are about to provide lte service in our country, don't you think that with this device lacking 4g would eventually be a big draw back for us in the future? Nexus devices have been really slow around here. So my best bet would probably getting one from SG or HK.

Yah, I really hope so. But since we have no Google play in the country, I guess all we have to do is wait. Furthermore, I won't be giving up my iPhone 4S for this but will definitely get this.
Where to buy one? it seems everything takes so long and hard to come by in the philippines. With LG being in south korea its not that far away and in Aisa really no excuse why the philippines shouldnt have the devices on launch day..

Right now the LTE in the philippines seems to be a running joke. They arent covering all of manila just different buildings or small areas. I dont get it. They should LTE the whole thing or at least the majorly populated areas. Plus the LTE cost is high with extremely low bandwidth caps making it useless

a few online sellers have it for 23k, not sure about their authenticity though...
TipidCP Nexus 4 thread
Actually, they have even problems with their 3G network. In case you forgot, our 3G (HSDPA and HSPA+)is only at 2Mbit max which is so fvckin' lame! In terms of Smart's so-called "LTE," it can only reach up to 15Mbit which is the normal speed of other country's 3G (HSPA+) or even their 3G is way faster than that! Mind you, their LTE at that time should be fast because it was only a test and there's no one using the signal except for them.
Our telco's aren't ready to cater LTE services.

Im drooling for this phone. Will sell my Onex X for this as soon as it becomes available.
I called a T-Mobile store here in Houston in the Woodlands and he stated that he got an email that says that all of the stores will get the Nexus 4 in stock some time this month. Later, TmoNews confirmed the employee. Good news for those on Tmo looking for an upgrade to the Nexus 4.
Again, there are a few stores that actually still have the old ones. I actually no one here in Houston if someone needs help. This will help me not drive 40 mins though.
Cheers.

If this next one doesn't pan out I'm getting a refund and taking my happy butt over to my local T-Mobile store and paying another hundred just so i can open them up and make sure i don't get an overheating Rebooter stock or dirt under the glass or a load of exterior blemishes or bad speaker or Excessive light bleed. Peace of mind is worth more to me than having ordered a phone on launch day and it being almost 2 months later and still don't have what i paid for.
