Yup, that should've done it.
Not sure what is going on, all I can suggest a factory reset, or revert to stock and start again...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
factory reset as in stock recovery and and stock rom?
That's about all I can suggest. You can back up before, and you can always root again...
Or wait for some other advice, I'm sure there's better ideas floating around, and honestly, I've never heard of this issue before...

Rooted streak won't boot into recovery
I rooted my streak and i installed the slim version rom. When i got everything working the dell update popped up on my screen so i downloaded and installed it. Now i got redirected straight to CWM and i did the whole ADB shell process. I am now stuck on the slim rom with no ability to connect to wifi or to enter recovery. Any help would be great.
Hello I wanted to do a query, I have a Dell Streak 7 only Wifi EU with Honeycomb 3.2 Official, and wanted to install the Recovery CWM but I wonder if you could then reinstall the one that comes with the official or not.
Thanks in Advanced

Yes you can. I imagine you want to flash something with CWM and then return to stock recovery correct. So all you do is flash your zip in Clockwork, boot up and make sure whatever you flashed is functioning correctly, boot into fastboot and flash your stock recovery and finally reboot and you are done

Does anyone actually have the stock recovery.img they can provide?

I recently researched if HoneyStreak r8 could be flashed using CWM onto Stock 514. I did not find anyone who had tried, nor did I ask.
I did get this to work. The main reason for doing this was so that I could use mostly Honeystreak and then keep a 514 ROM so I could use the dock without losing the speakers.
Here is what I did:
1) Did a nandroid backup of 514 using CWM 5.0.2.8
2) flashed the R8 zip from sd card using the same cwm "as above".
What is funny is when I booted honeystreak to test: ALL of my settings, apps, ect. were saved and I did not have to load anything.
3) When I flashed R8 I knew that the recovery would be replaced so I fast booted the CWM 5.0.2.8 back on and did a NANDROID of the honeystreak rom.
4) now I can flash either one 514 or honeystreak using the CWM 5.0.2.8.
ALSO I placed my Streak into the dock to test the speakers on Honeystreak and guess what...? they did not work.
However... I powered off and back on with the streak still in the dock and it does not have the speaker message come up and THEY NOW WORK.
So again.. the dock can work using HONEYSTREAK.
So if you have done this or seen it in another thread please post.
If your using any version CWM to flash a zip, why would it be written to overwrite itself and/or while it's in use? This wouldn't make any sense at all.
That's what I thought. I shut down. After booting up StreakDroid I then rebooted into recovery and cwm5 was replaced by version 4. And it would not load my nandroid correctly so I reloaded cwm 5... Make since or not that is what happened.

The recovery must load into memory leaving the recovery partition open to be replaced.
The r8 zip package has a recovery image in it. Just like any nandroid.. It replaced mine with the one that has dj steve's signature in it.

Yes, I get that but that means once CWM is running, it doesn't use/need the recovery partition. You had v5 till you rebooted, correct?

Yes maybe you had a misunderstanding of what I meant in OP. I meant that I used CWM 5 to backup then immediately I flashed the r8 zip with cwm 5. then I rebooted to test. So yes I had 5 until I rebooted. I said that in post 3 above.

My misunderstanding was of a recovery program's operation in general, thinking that it needed its partition(recovery) to operate but your post shows that this isn't the case.

Okay, I understand.
The question is, i have a custom rom installed now, if i download and install a new kernal that didnt come with the rom. Will i have to reinstall the rom and all of im data, or will it just reboot as it was before the kernel change ?
Are you soff or son?
If your not soff you will have to flastboot flash the kernel. Than you will have to flash the kernel to get the correct kernel modules (needed for WiFi)
If you are soff then just flash the kernel zip and your good to go
It wont delete the ROM...as long as you don't wipe data, I usually don't wipe anything but some people wipe cache and dalvic cache
Sent from my SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2
You should always wipe cache and dalvik-cache after a flash

THANK YOU
I am s on. I just wasnt sure if i could do that and not loose everything. Thanks for the help !
Use a program from the play store called flash image GUI. It works great on S-on devices. I changed kernels and what I did was use the program to flash the boot image for the new kernel and then I booted into recovery and installed the kernel zip. Worked great. If you have any WiFi issues afterwards, you might have to move some files to a system folder. I'm sorry, I can't remember the files right now, but if you had problems, I could look for them for ya. The program is just much easier than flashing through fast boot on a computer.
