Xperia TX Screen Comparison (with Galaxy S3) - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

So, I've been reading on these forums, and a lot of people have been saying that the Xperia T's screen has been crap. Now the question is, the same remain true for the Xperia TX? Let's find out!
I decided to do a mediocre screen comparison between the Xperia TX and Galaxy S3.
Both phones are 100% max brightness with the "Adapt to lighting conditions" box unchecked. The room is dark, with no external lights.
Note: these pictures do little justice in the comparison, but it was the best I could come up with at the time. So, along with the pictures, I'll be providing my in person perspective.

You can tell that the Xperia TX is on the right side (the Xperia logo is lit up), while the phone on the left is Tmobile's Galaxy S3.
In person, the Xperia TX's white standout far more, and there is a higher contrast from each image. The S3.. a bit dull, to be honest.
Here are two more pictures, from a youtube video in full 720p HD.
Again, Xperia T X is brighter, greater contrast, and the screen is far sharper. Stunning, absolutely stunning. The galaxy s3, not so much. I know this might sound a bit biased, but that's my honest perspective. Judge by yourselves.
Lastly, here are two more pictures, both showing a black background.
In this first image, the Galaxy S3 is focused, and the black is jaw-dropping! I can see why people say amoled screens black are unmatched, and they truely are.
Keep in mind though that the Galaxy S3 is the one being focused, so the TX will appear brighter than it really was (even though the black was... less black anyway)
Here is the same image, this time with the Xperia TX being focused.
You can tell that although the blacks aren't nearly as ...black.. as the Galaxy, it does fine holding up against it's own. Furthermore, the white on the TX is far whiter, brighter than that on the Galaxy. A difference greater than the one Galaxy has over the TX.
In conclusion,
The screen on the TX is amazing, beautiful, etc etc, and yeah.
My opinion:
TX PROS: S3 Pros:
-Brighter -Blacker
-Whiter
-Sharper
- Good Contrast
-Great viewing angle -Great angles as well
I might do more comparisons later.

could you tell me TX have wifi tethering feature?
thank you

Yes, it does, and it works great. I'm using the updated firmware, and tested it.

i am using the Xperia TX, i had the Xperia T and left it back taking the risk on the TX. To be honest I am quite glad I got the TX and not hold on to the T. The screen is definitely better as the moment I took the T out of its box I noticed it was a bit dull. I can't say the same about the TX - its great. I have had connection problems with the phone but the screen is top draw for me

I made similar comparison with my new Nexus 4 and TL and I found TL to be more pleasing to my eye. I did the same test as you. Full brightness with Auto - off. But the skin tones on Nexus 4 look very natural while TL had more red domination.

xperia tx good :good:

[Q] Screen ripples on left side of Xperia Z screen

I am in the UK and I have a Sony Xperia Z. I have upgraded the firmware to the latest version last week. I am with Vodafone on a Pay Monthly Contract.
I have noticed that there is a screen ripple on the left hand side and particularly a spot on the bottom left of the Xperia Z's screen when the left hand side is squeezed. This is particularly noticeable on a white background like when on the Contacts screen. This ripple also happens when the back of the phone is pressed.
This ripple is not too much of a problem but can be noticed at times as my phone has a case on it and I have to squeeze moderately on the sides to adjust the volume button. Also I am a little concerning that the ripple effect might be causing some sort of long term damage to the phone.
I have contacted Sony about this they have offered to look at the phone but they did not say whether this is an inherent problem with the phone or if it could be fixed. I am not particularly happy about sending the phone away to them as I am not sure about how much they can do to repair it.
In the meantime I walked into a Vodafone shop and tried another Xperia Z and it had exactly the same problems with ripples on the screen as mine! So perhaps it is an expected part of the very thin design of the Xperia Z phone. I have also noted the other short thread on this forum about this issue which suggest some other users are experiencing this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2194018
What do other Xperia Z owners think? Do you experience these screen ripples and are they to be expected
Del
Even m having the same issue left and right side.both only when I pressed it tightly. Otherwise all good....they told itz bcz of thin design nothing to worry.....

Thanks for your reply. Yes I thought the screen ripples might be because of the very thin design.
Its a shame Sony did not say something like this when I emailed them about this issue. They just said one of their engineers needed to look at the phone. I am reluctant to send it away to Sony as I don't think they can do anything about it as it appears to be an inherent part of the design.
It may be best for me to live with the slight problem.
i got it too i thought it's a problem with my device
I just squeezed the crap out of my phone and nothing happened. Tried it out of my case too.
maybe its only on sharp screens

I have just checked my display manufactuer and it looks like it is JDC! Interesting suggestion that the reaction of the phone might be different depending on the maker of the display.
On mine the display ripples on the left hand side are present in the middle left hand side of the screen as well as the bottom. They are not present on the right hand side.

Thinking of buying the Xperia Z. Wanted to ask a few questions.

I really want to buy an Xperia Z but i'm thrown of by the number of issues the phone has. I've heard there are wifi issues, sudden death issues, screen cracking and over heating issues. Is this all true? Or was this only in the first batch. Should I get it or not? Did you guys face these issues, thanx for your help.
After Xperia S I promised myself not to buy SONY devices ever, but I saw Xperia Z and I thought this one will be my last SONY for sure, I purchased it in August and I want to say that the only thing I like in this phone is Design and Camera. First of all after reading all the posts about Xperia Z I'm even afraid of using it under the rain, I also try not to play games so it doesn't get hot so the glass wont get unglued because phone gets really very hot when pushing it to it's limits. One week after purchase I decided to remove the factory installed screen protector because I don't like them, I trust SONY about their super glass but, some time later when I was cleaning it with very soft cloth I somehow managed to scratch it, and now there is a tiny dot on the screen. Another thing about the phone, as XPERIA Z frame is made of soft plastic you can see how it becomes glossy and it starts looking as if it has dents on it. I'm always careful with my phones and I never drop them or put on a table with screen down and etc but this phone started to annoy me. Small dust particles are collecting in the small space between screen and boarder, also in speakers and thats really annoying, on the black phone its very annoying. I'm cleaning this phone almost whole day and to tell you the truth if you try you can keep sweet&clean, but again I'm unhappy with camera perfomance, you know SONY loves exagerating things, camera is not that perfect at night, even if you have perfect light you can still see noises and artifacts. As a photographer I chose Z for camera and got quite disappointed. Also I had to purchase Bluetooth Headset SBH-50 because after a while FLAPS covering USB and Headphones get worn that increases chances of dust and water getting into it, also I had to purchase Dock station for the same reason, I'll tell you more I connected it via USB only 3-4 times, I use Wi-Fi for transfers, and it's annoying ... apart that this is very beautiful and strick phone if you want to show off and make iPhone fans cry. So this is my experience, I even thought of getting Z1 but I think I'll go with Nexus 5, I've had about 20 phones and all of them were Sony Ericssons so it's abit hard for me to change my Phone Religion ... Best wishes
My phone looks like this:

[Q] What is Liv's Phone? (iZombie)

I used to own a Z1 before moving to Z3 and it looks so much like a Z1 to me.
The UI look's like Xperia's Kitkat and the blinking notification light too:

I just started watching this a few days ago. I too have been trying to figure out what kind of smartphone Liv uses. From the back it kinda / sort of looks like a Huawei P8. But it can't be because the P8 came out this month. Why is there no brand name on her device?
This is the backside of the P8:

It never occurred to me that she was using a case. That explains everything. I believe that you are right about the Sony Xperia Z1. I noticed they covered up the Sony label on the front.
As I'm Using One It's A "Z1". :v

Yes in white note it happens but it looks awesome and more bright then black one
The reason for that is that white reflects light better than black, which is why the back and recent apps button look allot brighter on the white Note 4.
LOL yes, the menu lights are very bright to look at night times, on the white phone.
I keep mine off all the time so I couldn't say :silly:

This!
I can care less whether I see the lines over my buttons or not
the white looks ugly imo
Yep, the white looks terrible, like there is light leakage, thats why I prefer black, its cleaner and more defined, doesn't look like a toy.

That and black devices don't seem show dirt as much as white devices.

Screens look better with a black frame next to them. It's been shown you perceive the colors as more vibrant and the screen as better quality with a dark versus white border.
Yeah Black is favoured amongst men, as its more masculine or some such ****e, but I love the White one anyway, both are excellent colours and its completely a personal preference.
Not about Masculinity for me, I don't have to compensate for anything, I just generally don't like bright colours, the brightest thing I own is my car and thats Silver with lots of Black detailing.
I love things that are classy yet understated, hate shouty.
When I was younger I loved shouty, I remember getting the Sony Ericsson W800i when it came out when I was in highschool, it was Orange & White with Chrome covering the camera area, awesome times I'd hate myself if I got an Orange & White phone now, would be too much for me, lol.

How's your screen uniformity?

Hi, I recently bought a Nokia 8 and it's an amazing phone all round. Crazy fast and smooth and has great features.
One thing I noticed though is that the colour temperature at the bottom inch of the display seems a little more yellow/very slightly brighter than the rest of the display. So on a page with a light grey background for example, it's noticeable that the bottom of the screen seems slightly yellowy/green or maybe slightly lighter than the rest of the screen. It's not a huge difference but it's quite noticeable especially when browsing with Chrome or other apps that can show solid background colours.
How's your Nokia 8 display? Have you got the same characteristic where the bottom inch is very slightly "warmer" than the rest of the display? Any other issues. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth getting a replacement. Such a shame because otherwise the display is great (apart from being more on the blue side than I'd like).

Mine is quite alright. There's just a blotch at the very center of the screen that is a little brighter than the rest. But it sort of gets "framed" by the darker areas and I don't really notice it much at all. In fact this is one of the most uniform displays I've ever had.
