[ROM] [XXEMR2] 4.1.2 JB With AMR-WB (HD Voice) Support on 3Three [9Feb]

Recently a few vendors in the UK have been doing some really good deals on the Galaxy S3 on the 3 network. Because of this I have just recently picked up one.
The issue with this is, because I didn't get the phone from Three it didn't come with their branded firmware. Normally this is a good thing but in this case it wasn't. The none branded firmware hasn't got 3's modem or CSC. That meant that AMR-WB wasn't enabled and the signal strength was pretty poor.
You can check to see if AMR-WB is enabled by dialling: *#197328640#
And selecting option 8
Anyway because of this I decided to roll my own ROM.
The ROM is based on the Official I9300XXEMR2 (4.1.2) Firmware and AMR-WB is confirmed working with Three networks in Europe.
You will need to be rooted and have CWM installed to be able to flash the ROM. Due to a recent exploit that has been found this can be done really easily.
All you need to do is side load the ExynosAbuse APK then run it. This will install the SU app giving you root access to the device.
Once SU is installed go to the Play Store and install ROM Manager . This app allows you to install CWM so you can flash the ROM.

Removed Video Hub, Music hub (Trialware) and ChatOn
Fackebook, Twitter, Flipboard and WhatsApp are stored in data so they are easy to uninstall.

You need to rip out the original modem, csc and T9DB from the firmware that came with the phone, then flash that back onto the custom ROM.
If you download the Branded Stock firmware you will find the CSC and T9DB in the cache.img
But this ROM will work in other countries on the 3 network.

The server may of been under heavy load when you tried downloading it. If it keeps becoming an issue I could get a torrent going.

Got a torrent up and running now. As its using a Web seed use µTorrent on Windows or Deluge for Linux to get the best speeds.

No ypu don't need to wipe.
If the notification text is hardcoded as black in the app there is nothing that can be done.
I have made no changes to the theme.

AndiP is doing some cool changes with the new kernel including a couple of apps to change the audio and kernel settings.
Once its released as a stable release and the samsung sources are released for the hdmi, I will do another release.
I will also update the new firmwares (4.2 etc.) So they include the needed 3 network files.
So I will keep the ROM updated as needed.
But for now V3 is the final and won't be updated for awhile.

I'll give this a shot after I finish with the version Dubbsy over in the verizon forum did for me.

to fix the roaming indicator, you need to import cm eri.xml file in the overlay.

I'm not getting any data at all. Are you on MDL? I tried to connect to Wi-Fi and disconnect and no luck.

Yes I'm on MDL , but don't think that should matter .

Just flashed this rom from a CM nightly. I don't get any service whatsoever but everything else seems to be working fine.

lost my radio completely, came from MDL, any idea whats up?

If you go to mobile networks does it keep reverting back to wcdma preferred? Try that app I mentioned a few posts back, that's what the Verizon thread says to use and it worked for me

When I download the LTE OnOff app and go to "Set preferred network type:" no matter which option I select, the box just says "Unknown" when I select it.

Which previous one ? If u mean the one i posted in my kernel thread then not much ... before it was based on Ukraine rom, and now on Russia La fleur version, updated ramdisk and updated SuperSu and su, removed la fleur apps / cache
Other then that, nothing
I will make a new version when some XXU* ( european ) version will come from samsung

SilviuMik, I have I9192 s4 mini duos from India, i made custom rom using kitchen, every thing works fine i am able to install without any issue using cwm recovery, only issue is no base-band and network related things like bluetooth wifi display toggle working.. i have de-odex, zipalined all apks and added few mods.. every thing works perfect. only network not visible.also i tried to flash back the modem.img which i took backup before flashing my custom rom. still it dont show up. I have made my cwm backup so when restored all works back without any issue. so any thought or input to make network work on the custom rom i made. mine is knox boot loader 0x0 even after root and installed kernel which c0bain created one for I9192, and Philz touch recovery all works fine.
I am on I9192DDU1BML1 stock rom with all the boalt wares removed. any one looking for email app for your office exchange emails without pin to un lock the screen i have it. i have used the same methode which i did in my S2.

Also one more thing SilviuMik do you have Android PIT file so that i will try to flash a rom without on Knox boot loader and then install the BML1 without boot loader as per one of the doc to remove it from stock rom .

Take care usually u need to flash it 2 3 times
It also sometimes depends on what tz.mbn u used in combo with NON-HLOS
Try to extract modem from stock firmware and tar + md5 it and flash it 2 3 times with Odin. Then your wifi should work

Thankyou for reply, okay tonight i will try to tar + md5 the existing modem i have and flash via Odin. Also by any chance do you have pit file for I9192, so that i am plannning to remove my knox boot loader along with old firmware and then may be future glitches will be out to install all other cynogen or CM11 roms.

Well i have posted one time about a pit file that i took from Efs professional when i saved my Efs but can`t seem to find my post.
I am also not sure if that pit file can be used with Odin
When i get home i will reupload it

Here is the pit i have, as i said earlier it is made using Efs professional NO IDEEA if it will work with Odin
And i think u can`t remove Knox bootloader this way
As i read u need a Z3x Box and some other things to remove Knox bootloader

I installed the ML4 rom and noticed the battery drain is related to how I set up the SIM cards.
If I enable both SIM cards, the mobile network signal shown under Setting>Battery is fine (continuously green)
However if I only enable SIM 1 but disable SIM 2, the cell standby consumption is high and the mobile network signal turns red
If I only insert SIM 1 and remove SIM 2 from the phone, the mobile network signal is green again
I found it the same with MK4 rom. Is this a normal behaviour? I have imagined that disabling one SIM card should lower the battery drain but it is not. Let me know if you have any ideas. Thank you.

For all my Indian mates, who purchased their phone outside India or flashed some custom roms and could not get Jio VoLTE to work and have been requesting this since forever, here you go. No need to use that dreaded Jio4Gvoice app ever again
PLEASE FOLLOW THE BELOW INSTRUCTIONS PROPERLY.
Requirements:
- International S6 edge+ (any rom)
- International Note 5 (any rom)
I don't know if it will work on T-mobile or other variants (report if it does)
- Custom recovery (TWRP) (No root required)
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Make a TWRP backup (in case it fails for your particular rom)
- Uninstall Jio4Gvoice app
- Make and enable Jio APN settings (if you haven't done that already). If you don't know how to do it, separate instructions below.
- Reboot to recovery and flash the attached zip file
- Reboot system and do NOT touch your phone for TWO MINUTES
- Done. You should see VoLTE icon on your status bar and be able to make calls or text from stock dialer and messages app.
Instructions to make Jio APN settings:
- Go to settings > connections > mobile networks > Access Point Names
- Click "ADD" on top right corner
- Type in and do the following stuff
- Name: Jio
- APN: jionet
- Authentication type: choose "None"
- APN protocol: choose "IPv4"
- APN roaming protocol: choose "IPv4"
- leave the rest of the stuff as it is
- click the 3 dot menu button on top right and hit save
- enable the APN you just made, by checking the blue Circle next to Jio
- Done
Tested working on:
Fast and Famous rom (S6 edge+)
Should work on every S6 edge+ and Note 5 roms

A friend of mine has reported it working on his T-mobile S6 edge+ running Khongloi rom (Marshmallow).

I will try that on my s6 edge plus... is there anything similar for s7 edge???

I am working on the S7 edge ones, though it doesn't seem to change the csc after I flash. I have to look further into it. Will post on S7 or S7 edge threads if I get it working

It works fine with Note 5. But not Infinity rom. Works on pretty much all other roms.

Do I need to reboot to recovery or reboot into download mode? (or do they mean the same?)
When you say flash it, do u mean using Odin, if yes then which option in Odin it has 4 options AP, CSC, BL, etc?
I will b required to unzip and then flash right?

Since you are new, let me give you a tip. You flash ALL .zip files from TWRP and .tar files from Odin. Also Odin is only used at the beginning to root your device and then later used to flash stock firmware. It will not be used to flash any mods.
Moving on, this mod has only been tested on international variants. Not Verizon or T-mobile. So I strongly recommend you to make a backup with TWRP before you flash this mod in TWRP.

* Get The Same Files From Stock Firmware From /System/CSC/
* Get HWRDB and SIPDB Folders - Get These From Stock /System/CSC Folder or /System/

Now Add All The New Files To The Template Zip

This have magisk root but after setup you need download magisk beta 19 and setup this if you want. Thanks

Different them which stock?? Oreo or Pie? If your asking about One Ui there are pics everywhere of what it looks like. It looks like it does on the other Samsung devices.

I haven't reinstalled root yet, so maybe that is why I'm not finding it...any tip(s) on how to change the CSC?

Agree! It is as close to 'perfect' as I've seen for the Note FE.
I just got done integrating the TMO csc into it. I'm still testing, but it looks good so far. I have VoLTE and WiFi Calling again, and it seems the 'T-Mobile LTE connectivity' issue is once again resolved.
If the author is OK with my doing so, I will share it here for those on US T-Mobile.
