XT862 always showing 0dB GSM reception

Hi guys,
I've had my Droid 3 since October and I've tried all sorts of SteelDroid, CM9, AOKP ROMS since day one.
With all the ROMS, including VZW stock the dB info shown in *#*#INFO#*#* is 0dB.
My provider is Movistar Argentina and I have HSDPA service. The radio works ok, not awesome, but ok. I have to reboot the phone sometimes and I lose calls and SMS, but not very frequently.
I have tried reflashing the radio with Chinese XT883 but it also shows 0dB all the time.
What do I have to change in build.prop to get the proper signal level displayed?

I have noticed the same issue on AOKP since build 4.0.4 (I think that was almost a month ago)

I have the same thing. I'm using T-Mobile and will see if I can figure it out.

Flashed to 5.7.906 and now dBm is not stuck at zero anymore.
BTW Maverick 4.0 is pretty nice. I don't miss ICS and the camera is fully supported

My D3 has GB 5.7.906 with MavROM as non-safe system and AOKP nightly 25/April on the safe system. The dBm indicator works fine in GB but in ICS it's stuck at zero. Probably something to do with build.prop since I've been editting it manually.

No it actually has to do with the new 4.0.4 code and Hash hasn't been able to fix it since he has CDMA service. I suggested he get a T-Mobile SIM to see. The data is there though. I downloaded a signal widget for now.

Method #1
For those under .906 version:
You will need to be "Root"
1. Using Root Explorer (or other similar ap), go to "/system" folder
2. FInd build.prop
3. Backup it up (copy as build.prop.bak)
4. Make mount.R/W (in the left rigt corner of Root Explorer) to R/O
5. Open build.prop with text editor (long tap on build.prop and choose text editing)
6. Add to the end of file next code:
# THE CODE for better gprs, 3g reception
ro.ril.hsxpa=3
ro.ril.gprsclass=12
ro.ril.hep=1
ro.ril.enable.dtm=1
ro.ril.hsdpa.category=28

P.S. You might feel the difference only after 2 or more restarts

[ROM] [XXEMR2] 4.1.2 JB With AMR-WB (HD Voice) Support on 3Three [9Feb]

Recently a few vendors in the UK have been doing some really good deals on the Galaxy S3 on the 3 network. Because of this I have just recently picked up one.
The issue with this is, because I didn't get the phone from Three it didn't come with their branded firmware. Normally this is a good thing but in this case it wasn't. The none branded firmware hasn't got 3's modem or CSC. That meant that AMR-WB wasn't enabled and the signal strength was pretty poor.
You can check to see if AMR-WB is enabled by dialling: *#197328640#
And selecting option 8
Anyway because of this I decided to roll my own ROM.
The ROM is based on the Official I9300XXEMR2 (4.1.2) Firmware and AMR-WB is confirmed working with Three networks in Europe.
You will need to be rooted and have CWM installed to be able to flash the ROM. Due to a recent exploit that has been found this can be done really easily.
All you need to do is side load the ExynosAbuse APK then run it. This will install the SU app giving you root access to the device.
Once SU is installed go to the Play Store and install ROM Manager . This app allows you to install CWM so you can flash the ROM.

You need to rip out the original modem, csc and T9DB from the firmware that came with the phone, then flash that back onto the custom ROM.
If you download the Branded Stock firmware you will find the CSC and T9DB in the cache.img
But this ROM will work in other countries on the 3 network.

The server may of been under heavy load when you tried downloading it. If it keeps becoming an issue I could get a torrent going.

Got a torrent up and running now. As its using a Web seed use µTorrent on Windows or Deluge for Linux to get the best speeds.

No ypu don't need to wipe.
If the notification text is hardcoded as black in the app there is nothing that can be done.
I have made no changes to the theme.

AndiP is doing some cool changes with the new kernel including a couple of apps to change the audio and kernel settings.
Once its released as a stable release and the samsung sources are released for the hdmi, I will do another release.
I will also update the new firmwares (4.2 etc.) So they include the needed 3 network files.
So I will keep the ROM updated as needed.
But for now V3 is the final and won't be updated for awhile.

Rom is pure AOSP with a mod to see if LTE settings work you can *#*#4636#*#* and change the settings there and they sick after reboot . But i have no 4G sim to use to see if the mod works or is it just a dead end . If someone could test it please and let me know yes or no . And i have used hellscore latest kernel for this rom

awsmm.. I got Minimum 80KBps in 2g network in my sgy.. Got highest speed of 356KBps Awesome work.. without this tweak my 2g speed was normally 20KBps!!!

And plss use it on valid networks like airtel,Bsnl,Vodafone,Idea and few other. With idea 50 - 50 changes and Docomo user dont expect anything or uninor and bla bla. Mine have airtel 2g

I all update post with a note for some network

And please tell the method to revert back..

Big NOTE: (Puns intended) There are OG Developer's Editions and Converted Retail Editions. OG's, including me, have an aged KitKat 4.4.4 unlocked bootloader and we need to use multi-system kernel that @hsbadr patched to fix the brightness issue that was present during the Lollipop upgrade. We are forever in his debt. Converted Retail Editions have a newer Lollipop 5.1.1 unlocked bootloader meaning they can try other Verizon specific kernels without the brightness issue (You might come across other issues trying other kernels so please state what kernel you're using if you experience an issue). I'm also believing that it is possible that converts can experience issues that OG's don't experience due to the difference in bootloaders, and vice versa. It would be nice to know your build, including xposed mods, if you experience any issues. Thanks!
Instructions:
1.) Make sure you are on a 5.1.1 modem.
(N910VVRU2BOK3) or (N910VVRU2BPA1)
2.) Download the ROM and Fix to your SD
3.) Download the DataFix to your SD
4.) Wipe /system /data /cache /dalvik-cache (/InternalStorage Optional, you will lose your files on the device)*
5.) Flash the ROM
6.) Flash Fix
7.) Flash the DataFix.
8.) Wipe Dalvik and Cache
9.) Reboot. (Will take about 10-15 mins to boot)
Do not log into Samsung account or Google account during initial setup..
10.) Navigate to Settings > Mobile Networks > Network Mode > Verify Network Mode is LTE/CDMA
11.) Enjoy!
*If you use the stock Samsung keyboard just change the language to English it is on Spanish by default*
*The Google Playstore needs to eventually update so if you run into issues with it, it is probably in the process of updating so give it some time to install. You will see the new Playstore splash screen when it is finished*
*Use kernel auditor at your own risk I experienced a crash with the OnDemand governor. I turned it off and had no issues since*

Bugs:
Along with the bugs from the OP (No GearVR support) :
- *MMS does not work correctly on the stock Messaging app (group chats come in and send as individual messages, and unable to send picture messages)
**(Workaround: Use Textra as default messaging app, MMS works like it should)**
- Unable to perform a factory reset within the settings because you will get non-stop FC's once booted up. So make a TWRP backup after you go through a battery cycle.
- If you do not wipe internal storage any old Note 2 files in you SNote data folder will kill the SNote app. So remove them from that folder and you'll be able to use SNote.
- System update in settings force closes the Settings
- Simultaneous data works at 4G speeds when talking on the phone but it shows it as a 1X connection. (Must have a 4G connection to work)
- To get My Verizon to work:
1. Navigate to /system/priv_app and delete the VzwSilentSSOEngine folder.
2. Edit the system/buid.prop file. Change the model value to SM-N920V and save.
3. Reboot.
4. You need to log into My Verizon using your user name your number will not work

- Verizon Visual Voicemail does not work and may never work
- Screen mirroring may not work (Haven't tested)
- All apps on homescreen option does not work on stock launcher
- Ink in water lockscreen effect does not work
- If you change the model value in the build.prop to Verizon Note 4 model value (SM-N910V) it will break the theme store. Switch it back to SM-N920F or SM-N920V to get theme store working again.
- Google Play Movies does not work
- I have noticed that the hour of the current time may ghost behind whatever you have to right of the status bar. For me I have the center aligned clock so it is behind the stock battery. (Little eye sore but there's no fix at the moment). If you use 3mint battery there are some battery options that cover it.
- Show SFinder in the quick panel settings in custom Emotion app does not work and will force reboot your phone.
Read/search through the original OP thread for any non-Verizon specific issues first.

Big NOTE: (Puns intended) There are OG Developer's Editions and Converted Retail Editions. OG's, including me, have an aged KitKat 4.4.4 unlocked bootloader and we need to use multi-system kernel that @hsbadr patched to fix the brightness issue that was present during the Lollipop upgrade. We are forever in his debt. Converted Retail Editions have a newer Lollipop 5.1.1 unlocked bootloader meaning they can try other Verizon specific kernels without the brightness issue (You might come across other issues trying other kernels so please state what kernel you're using if you experience an issue). I'm also believing that it is possible that converts can experience issues that OG's don't experience due to the difference in bootloaders, and vice versa. It would be nice to know your build, including xposed mods, if you experience any issues. Thanks!
Instructions:
1.) Make sure you are on a 5.1.1 modem.
(N910VVRU2BOK3) or (N910VVRU2BPA1)
2.) Download the ROM and Fix to your SD
3.) Download the DataFix to your SD
4.) Wipe /system /data /cache /dalvik-cache (/InternalStorage Optional, you will lose your files on the device)*
5.) Flash the ROM
6.) Flash Fix
7.) Flash the DataFix.
8.) Wipe Dalvik and Cache
9.) Reboot. (Will take about 10-15 mins to boot)
Do not log into Samsung account or Google account during initial setup..
10.) Navigate to Settings > Mobile Networks > Network Mode > Verify Network Mode is LTE/CDMA
11.) Enjoy!
*If you use the stock Samsung keyboard just change the language to English it is on Spanish by default*
*The Google Playstore needs to eventually update so if you run into issues with it, it is probably in the process of updating so give it some time to install. You will see the new Playstore splash screen when it is finished*
*Use kernel auditor at your own risk I experienced a crash with the OnDemand governor, before and after I turned it off I had no issues*
*Use xposed and flash any mods at your own risk*

**READ ME**
Bugs:
Along with the bugs from the OP (No GearVR support) :
- *MMS does not work correctly on the stock Messaging app (group chats come in and send as individual messages, and unable to send picture messages)
**(Workaround: Use Textra as default messaging app, MMS works like it should)**
- Unable to perform a factory reset within the settings because you will get non-stop FC's once booted up. So make a TWRP backup after you go through a battery cycle.
- If you do not wipe internal storage any old Note 2 files in you SNote data folder will kill the SNote app. So remove them from that folder and you'll be able to use SNote.
- System update in settings force closes the Settings
- Simultaneous data works at 4G speeds when talking on the phone but it shows it as a 1X connection. (Must have a 4G connection to work)
- To get My Verizon to work:
1. Navigate to /system/priv_app and delete the VzwSilentSSOEngine folder.
2. Edit the system/buid.prop file. Change the model value to SM-N920V and save.
3. Reboot.
4. You need to log into My Verizon using your user name your number will not work

- Verizon Visual Voicemail does not work and may never work
- Screen mirroring may not work (Haven't tested)
- All apps on homescreen option does not work on stock launcher
- Ink in water lockscreen effect does not work
- If you change the model value in the build.prop to Verizon Note 4 model value (SM-N910V) it will break the theme store. Switch it back to SM-N920F or SM-N920V to get theme store working again.
- Google Play Movies does not work
- I have noticed that the first digit of the current time may ghost behind the stock battery at times.
Read/search through the original OP thread for any non-Verizon specific issues first.

I don't do anything lol all credit goes to the developers. I just do the write ups and I guess initial testing to make sure they can be used as daily drivers ?

I know, but that's a LOT more than the 99.9% of us that do nothing. And you are maintaining 3-4 threads now, and having to deal with all that entails. So, thanks again!

Awesome job man... is the battery life better with this than the Kyubi rom?

First off I wanna say I'm loving this ROM. Thank you VERY much. Just installed it about 2 hours ago and everything seems great. love all the customizations and it's a very nice change. The only thing so far is I can't send picture messages even with Textra. Any ideas? I'm on the multisystem kernel. Other than that I love it. Don't know about battery life yet but hopefully it'll be as good as Jasmine, my other favorite.

After reading comments here I am sure about one thing that i will get good battery life other n5 port roms

bugs or whatever you called this thing
- after adding google accounts phone stuck on reboot loop (boot successfully after that >starting and reboot same thing happen again and again)
- they have some customization app if i open that app and enable S finder my phone reboot automatically
more will be discovered

This rom is really snappy! Also, so far everything I've tried works, even screen mirroring through roku stick. Thanks @jcip17!

1st click the menu button and then when you see the note 4Roms press the + symbol and then Touchwiz..
