I had this case for my ns4g and I agree, it's the best for protection. I always found it easier to put the skin I'm the case, get the buttons out of the shell, and then put the phone in. The other thing that I never appreciated was how the silicon parts were in just the right spots to give the phone great grip.
It wasn't till i got a gnex with the otter box commuter case that I real liked how perfect this case was. The back and sides are really slippery on my otterbox. Thinking about getting an aegis even though the gnex version doesn't have a headset cover, and doesn't have the plastic shell clamp the silicon from all 4 sides.

The ballistic case for the nexus s is really good as well, slammed my nexus in a car trunk and not a scratch in sight.

All i see from them are TPU cases... i prefer silicone. This silicone case was perfect for the tf101.... sold it to get the nexus 7. Front cover a little more of the glass so less wiggle of the case... nice and thick but not bulky. cut out were BIG cutouts so no matter what connector or adapter was used... it was sure to fit with the case not being in the way
There are a bunch of silicone cases here. Hope this helps!

(Q) Galaxy note 2 rubberised back?

Loving my note 2 but I find it slippery to hold and a pain to prop up against things as it just slides away from anything you lean it up against. I know there are big rubber cases available but I was wondering if anyone has come across a rubberised replacement back to give me the added grip without the extra bulk of a case.
Any ideas to improve this lack of grip without adding a bulky case?

This isn't quite the same, but I got the nilkin case, which is very thin,
and when I put it in the case, I removed the back cover.
It's barely thicker. Maybe half a mm.

Ive had a look a the nilkin case looks ok but I think its a harder rubber almost plastic. Im after a grippy soft rubber what would be perfect is a back cover which has the same feel as the battery cover on a sky tv remote. The skinomi looks interesting

does the nilkin case have multiple layers? if so.. does it separate?

You could also try eGrips.com and then you don't need a new back cover or case.

You are correct, it's pretty plasticy. It's a single layer - pretty simple case, no frills.
And yes, I lose NFC. If I ever come into a situation where I ever could use it, then I might start to care. So far, I don't.

Need something grippy... lying on my back phone flies from my hand and kicks me in the teeth!
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
You could plasticoat the back yourself, or use a textured vinyl.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Chunology that case seems ok but its made from hard plastic so wont have the grip im after. Yes I think texturising the back with some sort of self adhesive non slip material is the way to go... gadget grips or similar its just a shame they dont make one that fits the back of the phone perfectly like a screen cover does.
Maybe a gap in the tech market!

I ordered some regular black plastidip, should arrive on monday, I'll let you know how it works.
Plastidip is overpriced in the UK for some reason though. It's about $6 a can in the US and about £16 a can in the UK :/
The Zagg/Best Skins ever, body guards clear protective skins have a rubbery feel and offers improved grip over the shiny plastic.
this case is idential to nikkin without the logo.

Yeah let me know how the plastidip works. Im interested to know if it peels off easily. Ive now bought a hybrid case very similar to the one posted above in that ebay link. Im fairly happy with it mines white hard plastic slim not bulky and it has a rubberised coating on it plus mine was only £3.90 on ebay . I found the rubber coating felt slippery when it was new but ive had it a week now and the grip seems to be improving.

Otter box commuter or ballistics

Which one and why
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
I went with Ballistic.
First of all i didn't like how the otterbox for the SGN2 looks. They make awesome cases, but sometimes they are very ugly (ie the Otterbox iPhone cases).
another great extra is the ballistic is cheaper, u can pick one up on ebay for ~25-29$.
BTW, already saved my phone once.. it fell of the table, right on it's side and survived without any evidence.

I went with the ballistic too. Ive dropped it many many times lol, and so far no damage. My brother in law has the commuter for his note and its not bad as well. On the plus side the commuter has rubber covers for the battery and headphone jack but the ballistic has those corners. I wish the ballistic had bigger corners but im satisfied with its protection. Either way I dont think you'd go wrong.
The commuter. More solid and stylish with a cleaner look.
Which for more protection?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Specifically drop protection. I know the ballistic case has those big corners but the commuter looks thicker in general
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
I have a Commuter case and I'm happy. I had a Defender for my previous phone and it was overkill.
Don't know much about Ballistics, but I would recommend the Commuter case. It fits the phone nicely, and feels good in the hand. I dropped my phone once and wasn't worried about it, either,

I believe that some people have used some spray on grip/rubber compound of some sort. One guy used it on a slim case of his to get proper grip, but I cant remember the name; google might say. I guess you could use the same on the commuter. Also there is always grip tape and you just cut out pieces for key areas of the back of the commuter.

Case feels perfect in my hand, and offers more of a gripping surface than the phone does without it. Further, since it isn't all notched up, the case moves easily enough into pockets as well.
For me, the case design exhibits a balanced compromise.

Samsung Protective Bumper Cover Plus Case - feedback please

Does anyone have this one? I had a bumper on an iPhone previously and liked how it gave it some grab when I set it down on a table. But also gives some protection while keeping it closer to naked.

Is it pretty thin? Also, is the bumper flush with the case on the back? I had a Belkin one on my games horrible.
Don't have it myself, but heard it scratches and very slippery.
I have this case and it's great. My coworker has the black one and it does scratch quite easily and is noticeable, but I have the white one, so it's not too bad. It's slim and protects the screen well. It's not as nice as the OEM S3 one but it works well and matches nicely.
I currently use the black one. It has a great design because the back is glossy which helps you slide the phone in and out of the pocket with ease and offers protection with minimal bulk. You can also put the screen face down without worry of scratching the screen. The buttons are also covered by the bumber so you dont need to worry about the buttons wearing down from moisture.

Just to let you know, if you don't already, that this is more of a case than a bumper. Everyone keeps throwing around the word bumper. This case does have a back. It is not a bumper in the sense that it only surrounds the sides of the phone.

Yes. Thanks for clarifying in the thread though. I'm going to give it a try and will report back. I'm not a fan of cases in general, but I dropped my last s3 and it was forever scarred with a scrape on the corner of the bezel.
Seems like it would be cool of Samsung made it so you removed the oem back and then attached the bumper case using the clips. Vs adding a second back.

I ordered one, for the second time. First one I sent back because I also got the Otterbox .
It's a great case. Fits perfectly and is pretty minimal. Would survive a few drops.

So would this case actually fit with the Samsung OEM wireless charging back attached..? I couldn't find any reports on that.. If anyone knows please let me know as i am interested in purchasing this case but not at the expense of losing the Qi charging capability.. Thank you.

[Q] case

what case are you guys using ?
I am using the samsung's official s-view case and I dropped my phone the other day and now i have a dent on the top and bottom outter corners on the metal frame since this case does not protect it well....
i am looking for suggestions for a thin case that covers the body and have s-view window...
any suggestions ?
Spigen bounce for me. Its thin and form fitting around all the corners. Only problem is 2 color choices, black and grey (light black).
Costs more than a generic tpu case but it looks and feels better.
I just ordered a spigen neo hybrid car from Amazon for 24$ (10 bucks cheaper than oem) it looks sick. I'll let you know how I like it on Monday. I got the yellow lined one

So I got my case yesterday. It's looks okay, not as good as I was hoping (I got the yellow banded one)
The aux port is obstructed by the thickness of the case. I have to remove the case to use in my car.
The buttons move in place, and are audible when moving the phone.
It makes the phone even slippier
Would not buy again

Using the UAG Scout.. not as bulky as otterbox but great protection. On sale for about $30 right now on Amazon.

I could have told everyone about the spigen neo hybrid from my experience with their S4 case. It's one of the most overrated cases on the market, I'm not sure why people love it so much.
It looks and feels much cheaper in person than in pics and it makes the phone much bulkier and wider than it needs to be. And it's ridiculously overpriced for what it is.
Thumbs way down, I will never buy a spigen again.

If you want a fairly inexpensive no frills case, check out the one from Caseology. I got one for $3.50 on a deal from slickdeals and it's a great case with decent protection for the price. Even at the regular $8.50 price I would say it's well worth it.

Cool. What about screen protection??
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
I'm using an iSmooth screen protector. Application was the smoothest of any screen protector I've used so far - but I don't know how much of that is just practice applying them. The screen looks beautiful, with no rainbow patterns, and grease resistance is good (the Spigen ones I used before on my original note, I had a harder time of applying, and both Crystal and Oleophobic ones accumulated grease like nobody's business, particularly the supposedly oleophobic one, and the crystal had slight rainbow patterns visible in the right light).
As for cases, I'm not using one; I don't like the added bulk from them - I instead used Sugru to mold little bumpers directly on the corners of the phone. The corner around the S-Pen is kinda tricky, since there's what looks like a mic on the long side, and very little space between the pen and the speaker on the bottom. I used 3 little pieces of sugru around there. I also put a little bumper below the volume rocker, so I can quickly find the volume buttons when the phone is in my pocket. The sugru comes off cleanly (scrape it off with a fingernail). It lasts pretty well, but it will need to be redone at least once during a two year contract, more if the phone is handled roughly.
Thoughts on the S view case?
I think Im mostly concerned with the glass cracking than anything else...
Right now i am rocking the Incipio DualPro case and am waiting for a case from Cuzerlite to come in.
I got the Tudia Melody and it's perfect. 8 bucks to boot. It adds a nice grip to the phone and covers up the chrome lining on the front. You know the part that looks terrible even with a minor scuff? No screen protection except for the raised edges.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda app-developers app
If you want protection and don't mind added bulk the Otterbox Defender is the only way to go. I personally have large hands and prefer the thickness and bulk the Defender adds. Plus you can throw it at a wall and it will not hurt the phone. The built in screen protector is hard plastic and will protect from most surface scratches. Of course direct impacts to the screen will almost always break it on large device like this and there is no case or protector that protects from direct impacts. So for screen protection you just have to take what you can get.
For me the Ottorbox has been the only way to go for my last five phones.
@Solarenemy68 while last year me would agree with you, I found another case company called trident with a similar design. There a bit cheaper too (price not quality!!) long story short, mine came today and it is amazing. Has a built in metal kickstand.
