Need advice on upgrading touchpad to cm9 or cm10 - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Need advice on upgrading touchpad to cm9 or cm10. I am currently at cm7 7.1.0 RC1 tenderloin-Kang. Would like to go to the latest CM version. Looked at some instructions. A lot of links are missing or not working. What is the easiest way to upgrade this version. Can you use the Goo manager? Can someone point me to a current thread with the latest instructions? Thanks in advance.

Do you need it step by step with links? How familiar are you with the flashing process?

I am familiar with the process. Just looking for the most stable version and the smoothest process. I see that some people recommend blowing away the apps and starting over. Some say to upgrade using the acmeinstaller2. Is the CM10 version stable? Can I go straight to CM10?

I would strongly advise using ACMEUninstaller to remove CM7 completely, then ACMEInstaller3 to install CM10. I had some problems when I didn't do that.

You'll want to Acmeuninstall, then acmeinstaller3. You can use the CM9 nightly as people generally choose that as a good place to start, and since you're using acmeinstaller3 you'll be ready to flash CM10 as soon as its all sorted.
Right now the biggest thing bothering people with CM10 is that flash works buggy at best. But other than that I'm using CM10 based ROMs without issue.

I am not familiar with this process. You have some instructions on using acmeuninstall?

Search YouTube for instructional videos. Otherwise, I have found several embedded within the ROM threads. I believe I actually got most of my files from threats on Rootzwiki.

Sprint galaxy tab ics help

I have been looking for two days now for how to get ics on my sprint tab. I see people have it and I have tried to flash it and failed.I read it may be because I have an older cwm. 4.09 or something like that. I want to get ics on here sooooo bad. I very experienced with flashing roms and rooting and all the goodies so I don't need anyone to hold my hand but some links on how to do it or what ill need to do it would be amazing. I can't figure out how to get newer cwm and ics. Help and links would be amazing thank you

Just to verify the link above on pg 38 post 380 does give the right way to do it. I had never used heimdal I always use Odin and I couldn't get heimdal to work for a couple hours so I gave up and said screw it and ran the tar through Odin and it worked! My screen did goofy stuff but all I had to do was boot into the new recovery and wipe 3 times each data and cache and delvik then flash team hacksun then flashed patch then rebooted and then went back into recovery and flashed gapps.
I swear this tablet was made for ics it never ran this well. A whole new tab is a understatement. Thanks to all the devs and rickxx for guiding the way

CWM won't flash ROMS

CWM won't flash roms I have restored a backup of CM9 from july, but I can't flash anything new.
Should I install that touch recovery?
TWRP? Sure, give it a go... cant hurt... worst off you can start over with webos doctor and reflash that package. Could be a bad install of CWM.
Try downloading ROM manager and flashing a n update through it too...

Right now I flashed a backup I made today of the original ROM from the tutorial. Now I installed goomanager and it's currentyl downloading the touch recovery. ROM Manager couldn't find any for the device and asked if I installed manually.
Okay, I just flashed touch recovery and there is no entry in moboot for touch recovery or cwm
Must have been a bad install of CWM... rather than messing around with it, maybe just start from scratch...:banghead:

CF3D Driver CM10

I flashed the 05/10/2012 build of CM10 by Jellaxy. After that I flashed V6 SuperCharger, A2SDX and SWAP from Jellaxy performance thread. After that I installed ChainFire 3D.
Everything was working fine until I tried to install the CF3D drivers...after the installation, my phone went on to reboot but it got stuck at the splash image(?) [the one that comes up before the CM10 bootanimation]. I left it for about 10 minutes with no change.
PS: if its any help, I deleted Trebuchet and am using Nova Launcher.
Please help, I forgot to make a nandroid backup :crying:
PS: I made a nand backup after installing the drivers. If I decide to re-flash the rom, can I at least use the advanced restore feauture to restore sd-ext? What should I NOT restore in order to prevent the said driver from messing up my phone?
Help appreciated
Don't restore system, try restoring data and sd-ext only... it might work. Otherwise, hope you got a titanium backup ready.
thnx for your help:laugh:

Lol!!! Check the supported devices for CF3D on play store pal. What do you think they run ? It doesn't work for our ace's ICS/JB roms because they're so co-operative with different scripts & so much bug-free that the CF3D driver is pleased enough to not to work

I'm afraid restoring mightn't help well. You should have had a good backup before ! I know you might have tried but just asking, did you try reflashing the rom ? And if not, is there any important data that you need to have & that is what is preventing you from doing so ?

If your sd card has ext4 partition then you can go for the beta 3 sd-card edition. That one has init.d scripts enabled.

Check the development section. Im working on CM10 now (the 31-10 build), which has JB. No problems. I just wanna say, read before you do, just to close out some problems.
Maybe its easier if you ask your problems and someone can answer

I so depend on my tablet that I don't want to try it without knowing what I'm doing. If I run into problems and can't use it I'll be screwed.
I have an i957 so the steps are a little different I think. Is that what you have?
Hmm, i just followed the steps in the CM10 and its working. I have a p7310 model...
The steps are the same. I have an i957 and am running the cm 10 from nrvate. Just make sure you have a Rom specifically for the i957. Very happy with the Rom. You can find it in the i957 development section.

I must be dense. I don't see the steps!
This is all I see:
Use TWRP, factory reset and wipe /system if you are coming from another ROM. Don't forget to install google apps http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.ph...on/Google_Apps
And that doesn't tell me enough.....
Start by looking for instructions on how to install a recovery and root your device. CWM and TWRP are two recoveries, you'll use one of the two. These are flashed through Odin. Once you have a recovery installed then you can flash a rom through it. Make sure the Rom is specific for your device. Not any Rom will work and the wrong one will brick it. These are basic instructions and are only meant to show you what to look for on the forums. The forums have "stickies" where a lot of this basic information can be found.
The galaxy sII General forum had some good stickies that can help. Read and 're-read them until you'll comfortable.

Oh boy. I think I did it. I flashed TWRP through ODIN. With CM10 from nrvate do I just point TWRP to the file and that's it?
Wipe system, cache and dalvik cache. Then point twrp (install) to the rom. Then install the gapps and then reboot.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
What about Google Apps? Where do I get that?
When I wipe does that remove all of my apps and info??!?
No it doesn't remove your apps, but I'd back those up first just in case. The gapps package should be found where you found the Rom.
Ps factory reset will delete your apps.

Ugh. I just flashed and rebooted from TWRP. I get the Samsung screen and then a black screen and then nothing......
Just posted to to CM10 thread. Hopefully, it's an easy fix.
Give it sometime and then try re booting. If you can still get to twrp you can restore, you did a nandriod back up,right?
If that doesn't work you may be soft bricked. If so go to sammobile.com and down load the stock Rom and flash it through Odin. Hopefully you don't need that but it'll bring you back to where you started. But I hope you backed everything up. Because your tab will be like New again.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
I tried rebooting again and now I can get to the Cyanogenmod splash screen. It just sits there though....
That's a good sign, your not soft bricked. What version of twrp are you using? I'd try going back into twrp and wiping the cache and dalvik and then under advanced, fix the permissions and then reboot.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
---------- Post added at 02:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:56 PM ----------
If that doesn't work then you'll have to do a clean install which means a factory reset. Back everything up first though with something like titanium backup pro.
Then do the factory reset, the wipes and install the Rom and gapps. After booting you'll have to resetup your Gmail account and then install titanium backup again Then you can restore your apps and data.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Dang. That didn't work. I'm using TWRP 2.1.4.
Ok, I'll restore, then back up with Titanium and do what you said.
Thanks.
I know you can get this running on your i957 because I did. But I went through what your going through too. I'm using twrp 2.3.1.1. If you Google twrp i957 you see a goo.im download, get the .tar file. It will install over your twrp version thru Odin.
But I'm pretty sure the factory install will do the trick.

doubts about recovery

when i install rom manager, download and flash droid 3 recovery, why doesn't work? can look idiot, but i don't like safestrap because i can't flash any rom over stock. when i look at this, i see the stock that remains there like a loss of storage space.
i wanna flash roms over the others. like i've always done with my other phones.
