Joystick suggestions? - Galaxy Note II Accessories

I've been starting to game on my Note II and I am starting to dislike using my thumb on the glass to move around on games like Battlefield: Bad Company 2 where there are controls on screen. The heat on the screen + screen protector makes it feel uncomfortable. Has anyone seen any joysticks that won't take over most of the screen.
I was looking at the logitech one:

Thought about that but I can't really carry a Ps3 controller with me to work nor do I know if the game is actually compatible with it.

Try the Moga controller. You can find it here
http://www.powera.com/moga
I've used a PS3 controller with an adapter but I prefer the Moga. nice that it uses AAA batteries too. Has its own app that points to games it is compatible with. Works with Body Glove TPU case too.
It costs $49.99

i just bought the Moga yesterday and can recommend it for causal gaming - i'm not a gamer much if at all, but when i'm at the airport or something (main reason for buying it) i'd hate to cover up most of the screen trying to play a game...
hopefully i'll get a chance to post a video review shortly - I'm on the fence about buying a controller specifically for phone gaming, but the price was okay (30% coupons available for tmo stores on 4square)
I don't see a ps3 controller being more easy to carry as the Moga is small, very flat profile, aaa batteries are easy enough to come by, and the built in clip is nice since the GN2 gameklip is yet to be produced... if you're rooted (pretty much a neccesity for either controller) the Moga will work similar to a ps3 controller.
the main thing to note is the ergonomics of a ps3 controller are much better overall, you have a dpad vs just an analog stick, but again, for causal gaming, not a bad solution

So is only for certain games not like the PS3 which you can use for pretty much anything?

How hot does your screen get? Slightly warm or is it actually getting really hot? You also could try a glass screen protector if yours isn't and is that annoying.

a cheap stand for the nook

so here i was with a leather case for my nook but it did not have a stand and i desperately wanted to have a stand whenever i want to watch a video and leave my hands free. I supposed it can get a picture easel and use that but since i am already carrying my nook, i wanted something i can easily carry in my pocket. A new case with stand is probably $25-$40 - and i am sure my wife would want the same for her nook a well - so instead i went down my local computer store and bought a cable wrap for $7 -

so i connect to ends to get the strap longer, insert the pins through the cable holes - with the kit i bought i can make 2 of these (one for me and the other for my wife)
and now i can watch my videos hand free in landscape
or in portrait (with the help of a stick)
That's a lot of ingenuity right here. Or, you could stop at the nearest Walmart and buy a fold-down photo frame stand for $2.
uhh if you read the post it did say i could do that but that wouldn't fit in my pocket now

Have you seen those stands? They fold down completely flat and are less then 7 inches long. How much more pocktable do you want to go?
to each his own, i don't need a 7 inch stand in my pocket to make me feel like a man

Good job! I think part of the fun of buying a piece of technology early (in this case it's not early, but still early in the accessories game) is creating solutions to things that work for you that others have either not made or have made too expensively! I, too, was working on a case/stand combo (on paper) as I had not bought a case yet, and just when I was about to go out and spend a good amount of money on it, I find rooCASE has made exactly what I was going to (and for slightly cheaper than I woulda spent). So I lost out in the fun of building it, but I did have fun thinking of all the different things I "could" do!
Not as cheap but I got this stand on amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Portabl...VOOY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1301965231&sr=8-2
It works pretty well with NC in my trident aegis case.
I was in need of a stand that cost me nothing (just temporary until I get my case next week) and I tore the back off one of those desktop calendars and it works GREAT! Just thought I'd share this!
Anyone tried one of those plate stands. I know my wife has a few laying around i might try to steal next week when i get home.
Amazon Store - Clear-Plastic-Easels-Plate-Holders
I am sure you can find them at the dollar store too. And they fold so you can pocket them.
Yes and it works great

[Q] How much is my Touchpad worth?

Well I realized the 10inch tablet is kinda.. a overkill.. and doesn't fit my needs for portability. Im planning to sell it but i dont know how much is it worth?
Hp Touchpad 32gb
Hp custom fit Case modded with velcro flap to close cover
Hp touchstone
Skinomi Screen protector on it + a brand new one if buyer wants to apply another one
+ 4 brand new clear overstock touchpad screen protectors
Hp usb charger
The serial warranty shows its till aug 2012
how much is this worth now on the market like craigslist.
I used it for about 6 hrs mostly installing preware, tweaks, andriod, 3 movies.
Thank you
$230+ for the device. $30 for the touchstone.
i think best way to sell it is to put it on the auction on ebay.....u will easily get the good price...but i agree with the above poster...its going anywhere between 230-300.....
sell it before those cheap ICS tablets comes out...
Above sounds about right. If you wouldn't mind, I'd be interested in seeing how you modded the case.
um ok

How? Even $300 is only half way there. Plus they are having serious range issues due to the casing with WIFI and GPS. That and Asus has already leaked that they are releasing a newer version in a few months. I would wait for that.
The new 7 inch transformer prime is 250. HD screen, tegra 3. I don't know when it comes out though.

Thanks, that looks really clean. I've been wanting to do something like this myself but wasn't sure what the best way to arrange everything was. I can't understand why HP didn't just put $0.25 worth of velcro or a magnet on this thing themselves.
Good luck selling your TP. I have a Nook Color with CM7 and love the form factor. It feels a lot more portable than just 3" smaller because it also has a 16x9 aspect ratio vs 4x3. The performance probably doesn't measure up to the TP or other tablets you can get now, but I still love it with CM7 and overclocked to 1200mhz. You can find refurb's for as low as $120 or so from time to time, and that will probably keep dropping.

Nexus 7 owners, here's my setup. Want to use a keyboard? This might be useful..

First off, I know a lot of people don't really care for a keyboard set up for their tablet. I bought the Nexus 7 to replace my Netbook which could barely play Flash videos anymore.
I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but thanks to the varying bluetooth stacks across manufacturers and supposedly buggy bluetooth implementation in JellyBean I had a lot of problems in getting bluetooth keyboards to work with the Nexus 7.
I first bought the HipStreet Keyboard case : http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX40691 This is the same generic keyboard case that's sold with different brand names. Kind of cheap, and three of the keys didn't work. Costed close to $60. Returned it.
I then bought the Logitech Android 3.0+ keyboard. Great build quality, but kept dropping connection. And when it did manage to stay connected it would repeatedly record the same keypress even once I had let go of the key. Costed almost $90. Returned it.
I now have this set up :
>Gigabyte Bluetooth Mouse : $16
>GMYLE Super Slim USB 2.0 Mini Keyboard - $ 15 - http://tinyurl.com/8pjuuot
>Clingo Tablet Stand - $25 to $35 - http://tinyurl.com/d73urrq
>USB OTG Connector : $4
Total cost : $60-70. Cheaper than buying a brand new Logitech Keyboard with possible connection problems.
And when you're on the go, pick up the $9 Blurex Case and just carry the small keyboard and mouse with you. Still more portable than a laptop
Also : If anyone is wondering if the Windows and FX/Fn keys are mappable to Android commands, they are! Use this simple method to program your keyboard keys to perform functions like 'Home', 'Email and 'Music' - http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=159538
Love your setup. Thanks for sharing. I'm debating getting a keyboard for mine...not sure if I really need it at this point in my life...but I'd like to have the option of using it.

No problem. I felt like posting this because I had to go through quite a bit of effort buying bluetooth keyboards, being disappointed and then having to go through the hassle of returning them. I took the gamble with trying out a physically connected keyboard and decided to post it since it worked out great.
That looks like a great setup. I was wondering which keyboard would be a good fit, and I've been eying that stand. You took alot of guesswork out of my next purchase. Thanks for posting.

[DIY] My cheap mounts (home and car)

Well, I use two cheap mounts for my Nexus 7:
- On home, I use a mount that I saw on a youtube video a year ago, It uses a rubik's snake:

}
- And for car, I use a foto stand made of plastic (0,50€), yes, a foto stand
The tablet doesn't move and fits perfect!
Any suggestions for improve the mounts ?
Nice stands but a dock would have some form of connection for power and data surely?

ups sorry! I change the name. Thanks
Very nice car stand! My only concern is that you are almost blocking the buttons... Wouldn't be nicer if you trimmed the stand a little?

Thanks !
The stand is made of cheap plastic, I think if I try to trim it'll break. The only button I cannot access is the "recent apps" that is unnecessary for mi when I'm driving. I'm thinking to use GMD Gesture app for replace all the buttons.
At the moment, I can use back and home without problems
If you used the true tablet UI tweak, you wouldn't have to worry about that, because your buttons would all be on the left side!
Try the belkin case for the kindle fire. I use it on my acer a100 in the home and car. With a small bungee cord between the headrest posts then able to play movies in any vehicle for the kids. Will post pics after work today

I tried the tablet ui but I didn't like! I like the actual notification bar. Buttons are not a problem for me, I need home and back and I can press them.

How exactly does the car mount hold the tablet in place? It looks like if you'd punch the gas that thing would be on the floor.
This is what it looks like out of the car. It doesn't block my connections as well as set up any where I need it. Great for protection also. It is the belkin case for the kindle fire.

How does the game klip feel with the 7, is not a bit top heavy and unwieldy? I have a case that doubles as a stand so it's cool sat at a table but awkward sat on the sofa or a bus/train without a table so I'm quite tempted.

Will a ps3 controller from other brands or even the really cheap ones work well? Or only the oficial ps3 controllers will work?
Thanks
I have the smaller Moga Mobile controller and it works well, its one of the only controllers that gets official game support too. They just came out with a new model, the Moga Pro, its a regular sized controller and I bet its pretty good. Same price as the Moga Mobile also, $49.

Wait and buy OUYA
for 99$ you can have game console + controller
PS3 gets the most usage. On my MK808 Android stick, there is no Bluetooth, so I tether it with a mini USB cord, but pair wirelessly to my N7.
I have a MOGA too and its cool. That's better for my Galaxy Nexus though.
