Hey, just wanted to see what anyone else is getting as far as speeds in the south east region or any other region.
i ran 3 test from the speedtest.net app back to back to back and i got these results
92ms ping 51011 kbps down 19738 kbps up
85ms ping 60377 kbps down 19468 kbps up
92ms ping 59564 kbps down 20423 kbps up
im in upstate south carolina and we just got LTE 3 days ago in our area
I'm in Birmingham, AL and the best I've seen has been about 16 meg down and 11 meg up. I've tried several places around town and I'd say the median so for has been about 6-8meg up/down (highest I ever saw on the Atrix 4G with H+ was 5 down/1-2 up). I've seen as low as 2 meg down and in one place that I got no data on my 4G, I got 3-4 meg down, only a few hundred k up, and data, but no voice!

So we finally have 3G in Minneapolis. But i am disappointed about the actual 3G speed. I have HSPA enabled and only get speeds between 350 and 600 kbits/sec. I was in Germany 2 weeks ago and with a Vodafone pre-paid SIM Card i was routinely getting speeds between 800 kbits/sec to 1.2 mb/sec.
Is ATT 3G in the USA inferior to 3G in Germany?
As i am trying to figure this out, i do notice that i only connect to the internet using Medianet. I do not have an isp through ATT. Does an ISP connection make a significant difference as far as 3G speed is concerned?
What speeds are you guys getting her in Minneapolis?
Those sound like pretty standard 3G speeds for the region. I am getting the same speeds in Milwaukee which isn't that far away from you.
I get 750 in detroit
3G Speed in Minneapolis
I use isp.cingular for 3G and see speeds between 567 and 997 mb/s. I'm very pleased with the increase.
What are you using to test the speed with? Let me know and I'll test it. I'm in Roseville right now...I live in Mpls so I can test that later tonight.
.:Christian:.
i use this one
http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?jisok=1
with the 1mb file which you get after the other files are too small
which takes you to
http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?jisok=1&more=1
#1 375 kbit/sec on a 1MB file.
#2 513 kbit/sec on a 1MB file.
#3 321 kbit/sec on a 1MB file.
.:Christian:.
Question: isp.cingular did you call cingular to request your account to be setup for it? I had it working before but now I get an error saying the modem is not responding.
As for speeds with 3g the fastest I ever reached was 1046 kbit/s now I get 774 kbit/s roughly.
WOW!! That is damn fast
kb/s I think...

Keep in mind that whenever I've run a speed test with PIE, it's always reported a far slower speed than other browsers...

3G and HSDPA are two different thing, HSDPA is also known as 3.5G, the results you get is about right.
kms
I got a nexus one with at&t in NYC. I was usually getting around 1.2 mbps down with peaks of 2.7 mbps in Brooklyn. In Manhattan, I was on average 1.9 mbps down and peaks of 2.9 mbps. Today all of a sudden I get 2.7 mbps average with peaks of 3.6 mbps with 1.6 mbps upload. Did at&t upgrade to hspa+? In network type it says hsdpa in the settings, and Im also starting to get at least 3 mbps alot
Round them up! Download the free app from the market (keyword: Speedtest.net).
In this video, I'm showing an actual 3G speed test using an older 64K SmartChip SIM card with the Cingular logo on it. AT&T claims my speed will improve if I use their new SIM card (does it really? If it does, let me know and I'll make the switch.) At the end of the video, you will see a series of speed tests in my history. I've averaged between 2-3 Mbps download and about 0.3 Mbps upload. This may seem slow compared to what other people are getting. My Captivate is stock and unmolested (for now).
So, what's your speed?

Just ran the test.
1879 down, 254 up Captivate on 3G
My last 3 phones (fastest to slowest)
Captivate > 3gs > iP4
The Captivate and 3gs tests were with the same SIM card. The iP4 would never go over 100kbps upload.
Damn, I'm only getting about 1.5 mb/s dl and .2 mb/s ul using 3G with full signal strength. On wifi I get about 5mb/s dl and .7 mb/s ul
5mbps down 800 kbps up. But I'm in the wrong forum.

And after a 4 mile drive east, you get zilch.
Good for you!
I had 3264 down and 371 up last time I ran it.
Generally get from 2000 to 3300 down, and anywhere from 150 to almost 400 up with a full signal.
IT doesn't bother me right now... 4G is a work in progress.

That's why I stay within a 400ft radius
I accually keep the 4G off anyway. 3G suits me just fine with around 2mb down and half a meg upload.
7:20am, in my office, San Diego. I just did a test again with only 4 bars.
3.22 Mbps down
0.37 Mbps up
Nice.

Wrote an article on T-Mobile and the transition to LTE vs their equipment in the countryside sticking with GPRS. Anybody have similar experiences. I'm over in lower Michigan.

For those of us living, in a major metro area, not only is T-Mobile fast (I get 15Mbps down 1.75 Mbps up) but it's,a better value than the other three....

I'm not getting any speed bump. I live in the Memphis area and go to the heart of Memphis for work 5 days a week. I constantly test with speedtest and I'm getting them same 20-30 dl speed I've always gotten. Verizon's website says it's available. Anyone in Memphis or have a similar issue?
I'm on the xdabbeb v2.2.0 rom 26a
While higher speeds are possible it was never officially claimed by Verizon. “We are still focused on our brand promise of 5-12 Mbps on the download and 2-5 Mbps on the upload.” That was the official statement announced by one of their spokesman/woman. Just cause it says its available, there is till the high possibility AWS in your area is still being rolled out.
I live in Collierville and get 30 to 40 during the day and 40 to 60 at night. My upload is usually around 10 all the time.
Getting 70 Mbps LTE in Kansas City on Verizon
I was getting nearly 70 Mbps download in Kansas City, Missouri on Verizon. I have since swithed a Straight Talk (T-Mobile network) sim and I am only getting 15-17 Mbps LTE. (I do get at least 3 gigs of 4G LTE thru Straight Talk, and that second screen shot is after I was notified I had exceeded my 3 gigs and would be throttled...) The first shot is Verizon network. Using VZ980 4.4.2 26a. Second is T-Mobile on same device via Straight Talk. (Stock rom, now rooted, but was working the same before root.) Verizon in Kansas City area is unbelievably FAST. Wish I could afford them, but I can live without all the overage fees I WAS paying.
VZW "XLTE" or better known as AWS, isn't upgrade to all towers within an area at once. Where I live in Toledo we still have tons of data issues even with AWS being in the market. You can get 70-100Mbps down easy on one tower, then drive a block away and you switch towers and then you're lucky to get 1Mbps down because you switched to a tower without AWS. They just upgraded certain towers because of the cost to upgrade the circuit speed on top of the hardware upgrades to towers. They really only do it in high traffic areas that have capacity issues. Sadly they still haven't done crap since the initial upgrade out here.
Yeah my home town I get 8-15mbps on Verizon and at the one mall I get 85+

Have you looked on your phone to see if you are even using band 4? Download LTE Discovery, it will tell you what band you are connected to.
