Why are you posting a question in the Development section? What you need to follow is Dr. Ketan's guide. If you are running ICS and downgrade to GB, you will have force closes the first time you boot. Then do the wipe, not in ICS

First of all wrong section to ask question...should post such query in general section...
Yes make back up with Titanium Backup to save your apps...do not factory reset while on unsafe kernel (ICS kernel is unsafe kernel)..
Download any safe kernel and install and do factory wipe...then install Stock GB ROM..root it and enjoy...

Safe kernel for ics and gb = speedmod kernel.
1.Download pre rooted gb rom.
2. Use pc odin to flash the pre rooted rom.
3.The phone will keep fc while 1st boot. Dont panic. Switch off the phone completely and boot into recovery mode and wipe data+ cache.
4. After phone booted, install mobile odin and flash safe kernel.
5. Done, your gb rom now fully rooted.
Good luck.

If flashed GB already using PC odin, its already safe.. there is no need to change kernel. GB kernels are safe. ICS, not so much

You can directly flash gb rom using pc odin
Dont do any wipes on ics..flash gb rom and then do the wipes
No other kernel is required to be flashed
sir,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
you'll find all the stock ROMs and the instructions in the link above.
STEP BY STEP instructions
[ the mobile and PC should be connected only when instructed in the process below ]
PC :
>> download the PC Odin3v1.87
>> download the ROM from the link above or from "samfirmware" [ http://samfirmware.com ]
(click on 'firmwares and files', scroll down the page, select 'smartphone' in the type list, 'android' in the OS list, 'GT-N7000 - Galaxy Note' in the model list, ' **** your country **** ' in the country list. Click on the 'send' button. All the firmwares released for your model will be listed, download the one you want to install. It will ask you to register to the site first, don't worry it is free)
>> you will download a file "N7000xxXXX_N7000xxxXXX_XXX.rar" (there will be numbers and alphabets instead of x and X). RAR is a compressed format, to unRAR the actual file/folder (which you need) you will need a program called 'WinRAR', look it up on google or download it from [ http://www.filehippo.com ]
>> you will get "N7000xxXXX_N7000xxxXXX_N7000xxXXX_HOME.tar.md5" and "SS_DL.dll" when you'll unRAR.
>> open the Odin program on your computer (if you are on windows vista or windows 7 right click on the "Odin3 v1.85.exe" and then click on "run as administrator" option, click on the "yes" option. the program will open). now click on the 'PDA' button (in the Odin program) and then point the location at/select the "N7000xxXXX_N7000xxxXXX_N7000xxXXX_HOME.tar.md5" file.
MOBILE :
>> press/hold down the volume 'down' button, don't release the volume 'down' button, press/hold down the 'home' button (in the front), and press and hold down the 'power' button until your device restarts, don't let go of the three buttons until you see the "Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000" screen. (release the three button when you see "Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000" on the screen)
>> press the volume 'up' button to continue.
>> connect the data cable to the PC[USB] and the mobile[MicroUSB]
PC :
>> you'll see a yellow box under ID:COM with "COMx" written in it. (x is a number)
>> now click the big "START" button (in the Odin program)
wait for the process to be over, and your mobile will reboot itself.
MOBILE :
>> press/hold down the volume 'up' button, don't release the volume 'up' button, press/hold down the 'home' button (in the front), and press and hold down the 'power' button until your device restarts, don't let go of the three buttons until you see the "Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000" screen. (release the three button when you see "Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000" on the screen)
>> press the volume 'down' button to get to "wipe data/factory reset" and press the 'power' button (it might be the 'home' button read the instruction on the mobile screen.. on top)
>> press the volume 'down' button to get to "wipe cache partition" and press the 'power' button (it might be the 'home' button read the instruction on the mobile screen.. on top)
>> "reboot system now" and press the 'power' button.

Do the following and after that root your phone using cf root xxjw4 kernel from Odin. Check in cf root for galaxy gti9000 thread .
gcuchiha said:
Maybe its a bootloop maybe.Switch off your phone and check if download and recovery mode is available(see next paragraph)
If so follow the steps mentioned.
First of all download xxjw4 firmware for galaxy gt-I9000 from
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/150483619/708026d/I9000XXJW4_I9000OXAJW4_XEU.zip.html
1) Put your phone into Recovery mode (Vol up + Home + Power button) and perform a Wipe data/Factory reset, then a Wipe cache. When done pull the battery out for around ten seconds then re-insert.
(If recovery isn't working ignore this step)
2) Put the phone into Download mode (Vol down + Home + Power button)
3) Unzip the JW4 firmware folder you've downloaded to your Desktop.
4) Launch Odin and click on the button that says PDA and navigate to the PDA file you've just unzipped to your desktop and select it.
5) Connect your phone to your PC via USB. Odin will say Added and a box will turn yellow to indicate it has recognised your phone.
6) Click the start button in Odin and sit back and wait for Odin to flash your phone. When it's finished it will take a few minutes longer for the phone to reboot than is usual so please don't panic. The phone will reboot.
7) When the phone has rebooted, remove the USB cable and you now have the latest 2.3.6. It might be a good idea to repeat step 1 to make sure nothing of the old firmware is left behind.
And that's it, seven steps to 2.3.6 JW4 Value Pack and TouchWiz 4.
In case you want more info about flashing go to this site

First of all I feel your pain. If your issue hasn't been solved by the above post I would recommend these two step by step guides to fixing your issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493
I have personally used the above process without a problem, best of all it includes all the files you need to not only get back to stock but also to then get you back to ICS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1139050 This process I haven't used but a cursory search pulled it up. The first link is better and I can vouch for it but variety is the spice of life..
Hope this helps.

Hello abdurm, could you tell us your current firmware? You would require to give us details from Settings > About phone.
Also, did you try flashing anything? If so, what was it?
By pressing the Volume Down button + Home button + Power button simultaneously, does your device enter Download mode?

It dosen give me enough time to check firmware version, it reboots. It is on ICS. It is stock and I have not tried fashing or anything.
Yes it goes in download mode by pressing Volume Down button + Home button + Power button simultaneously.
Flash gingerbread rom in PC ODIN only and it will automatically reboot by itself but if still stuck in samsung logo go to recovery mode and wipe data and cache.

Thank you very much. Just one last thing I dont have to be rooted to instal this ROM and it is ok to flash directly from ICS . Just downloadFilename: SGN_XX_OXA_KJ1_FACTORYFS.zip and flash it. And it will leave me with GB?

Apologies abdurm, I foolishly presumed you would have made a note of your device's firmware details at some point in the past. It was stupid of me to ask you for the said information.

1] Download the pre-rooted stock Gingerbread firmware, SGN_XX_OXA_KJ1_FACTORYFS.zip and extract it to get the SGN_XX_OXA_KJ1_FACTORYFS.tar file.
2] After doing so, run PC ODIN, select the PDA tab in it and point to the extracted file (SGN_XX_OXA_KJ1_FACTORYFS.tar). Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time will be selected by default. Do not select anything else.
3] Put your device in Download Mode and then connect it to your PC via the USB cable. The ID:COM label in PC ODIN will turn yellow indicating your device is connected and recognised.
4] Click on the Start button in PC ODIN and wait for the label above ID:COM to say Pass. After it does so, disconnect your device from your PC.
Your device will reboot and you will be on a stock Gingerbread firmware with root privilege.

Hello again abdurm, I am glad to learn your device is up and running again. :highfive:
Now that you are on a rooted firmware, I would advice you not to avail an OTA update as there is a very high likelihood of it breaking/undoing the root privilege.
Personally, I have not ventured into Ice Cream Sandwich yet and thus I have no right to guide you with the process of acquiring it. But, based on your quoted post may I ask you if you desire to have stock Ice Cream Sandwich with or without root privilege?
I recommend you thoroughly read dr.ketan's threads which explain the subject at hand.

I followed the above method to remove trinagle and reset binary. Now iam on ics stock 4.0.4 so i followed the exact instructions, it tells you exactly what you need to do if your on ics 4.0.4. i used the first tar file in PDA, followed by the secound tar file in bootloader as it sugessted. Now everything went fine, it said PASS! tried to turn on my phone and its BLANK screen. i can hear it turn on and it lights up but thats it, i cannot anything. my phone can connect to the pc but everytime i try to turn it off with a battery pull, soon as i put battery back in, it loads up again! so how on earth would i ever get this in download mode if it can be fixed!!
ive replied to the OP thread but he has not yet replied, iam unsure if its bricked or can i recover this?

I think you are not bricked
Are you able to enter recovery mode
If yo can,try clearing cache and dalvic cache, but dont do a factory reset since you are on ics
If it doesnt work, try flashing a gb rom
The screen is black! cannot see anything on it so i wont be able to see what iam doing. i can hear start up sound and see the lights only.
right now my phone is off so iam sure i can go into download mode and connect it to odin!
i need the correct steps if possible, i dont think its bricked at all either. hopefully the OP thread guy has a solution but if he does not, i will need some damn help!
BTW iam on a speedmod v13 kernal. so if ive got no choice but to flash a rom, my kernal is safe right?

YEP it has connected and is showing yellow in the port!
YES screen is blank, NOTHING is showing up at all. it might be due to the 2.tar file i had to flash in bootloader in odin.
What methods does anyone recommend? or shall i also wait until the OP guy responds incase he has a solution. does this mean iam not bricked if i can connect and hear restart sound and lights?
These were the instructions i followed
1)You need a JIG. You can buy it or create its own
2) Download attached zip archive and extract it to some folder
3) Reboot you device in download mode - turn it off, than hold volume down + center button + power button. Wait for the warning message and press volume up
4) Plug it to you PC
5) Start Odin from extracted folder and choose '1.tar' file for PDA flash. You must get the same settings
6) Press Start and wait for the completion of the flashing
7) After reboot you should get black and dead screen. Unplug USB from PC. Long press power button (15-20 seconds). Remove battery for 5 seconds, plug in JIG, put battery back. Wait for 40 seconds, press power button for 5 seconds, remove JIG, long press power button (15-20 seconds), remove battery
8) Put battery back, hold volume down + center button + power button for 10-15 seconds, press volume up, plug it to you PC
9)If you have stock/custom ICS ROM (Android 4.0.3 or 4.0.4) your step is:
Start Odin from extracted folder and choose '2-ZSLPF.tar' file for BOOTLOADER flash
10) Press Start and wait for the completion of the flashing
At points 7-10 the screen will not work!
Followed this down to a T, i had to download and use both of those tar files mentioned for my device which is ics 4.0.4 stock.

I guess you have to flash some ROM which has bootloader included, try flashing stock GB rom using pc odin.

Yes if this has been recommended and worked, then try it. Otherwise download stock pre-rooted GB rom from dr.ketan's thread if you do not have stock GB firmware and flash it using pc odin.

Download rooted GB rom from Dr.Ketan's signature above and flash using pc odin in download mode.

is that the link that says downgrade to pre rooted GB ROM?
if correct...do i just go into download mode and select PDA to get the zip and just press start?????
Yes that's prerooted rom, you need first to extract it to .tar
Zip file won't flash by pc odin. If you dont have unzip tool to.extract, find toolbox on my signature and you will find unzip tool. Use that tool to extract zip file.

Yes ofcourse screen is blank.. in op said At points 7-10 the screen will not work! so at point 8 even after we press 3 button the screen is still blank.. so just assume screen is on. After we press 3 buttons in 10-15 seconds then release (screen still blank) then press vol up (screen still blank) then connect pc to device (while screen still blank) then open pc odin (it will detect your device) then start next step...

Credit goes to @SeyMedia for original aid, I just made this into a tutorial. Good Luck!:good:
root/recovery won't work that way for 4.4
as soon as you let the phone reboot into system after flashing custom recovery, it will get overwritten by original one; so after you turn the phone off and reboot manually then, don't be surprised to see stock recovery
After flashing custom recovery don't turn the phone on. Just return with 3combo to recovery and flash su. This is how worked for me
Regarding the rooting process:
- just untick F. Reset Time in Odin when you flash philz_touch_6.26.6-i9305.tar;
- when flashing is done, disconnect phone from pc and pull up the battery for a few seconds;
- put back the battery;
- enter in recovery mode (you will enter in Philz Touch);
- flash UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02.
This will do the trick!

Why you use “philz_touch_6.26.6-i9305.tar” and not more new "philz_touch_6.48.4-i9305.tar"?
