Ok so i have an Htc vivid (rooted) and i am trying to update it to 4.0
whenever i try to update, it restarts but then it gives me the red triangle of death.
Then i have to remove the battery and start it up again. No matter how many times i do this, it always does it.
What seems to be the problem and how can i fix it?
I don't think you can update if your rooted/have an unlocked boot loader
You probably will have to relock the boot loader before you can update through att

Fastboot flash wcx recovery. Boot to wcx recovery. Then find the rooting option. It should work.

Thanks must not be seeing it as option to root. Will give another go after work. And also what is meant by "s-off" and "s-on" and how does it effect function of devise post root?

Security off or on. As far as I know, it lets you flash kernels from recovery instead of having to flash in fastboot mode with adb.
And my noobness gets worse.....what's the dif between a kernal and a Rom?

bought incredible S from optus, then unlocked and now on Vodafone.
phone is now bricked after attempting to upgrade to ICS when rolled out by Vodafone. ICS not yet rolled out by optus, is this the cause of bricking? if so, how do i fix?
cheers
What?
If you bought your phone from optus and it has not been modified, it will still be an optus phone. A sim unlock has nothing to do with the ROM version
So you have not modified your phone other than the sim unlock?
When you booted it up last time, did it still have the optus animation?
Also, what does it look like now? At what stage did the phone stop working?
Sorry about the questions, just want to know the condition of your phone so we can help yo

Phone keeps restarting to fastboot screen cannot get any further, i just relocked the bootloader with the AIO tool now all i get is this screen
Ok got it to boot now by unlocking the bootloader, but do i need to re-lock the bootloader to install a stock rom?
Why do u need a stock Rom if you just unlocked the bootloader you should still be on stock .
You have to root now and flash recovery to flash any Rom.
Or you can flash Stock ruu in hboot to get to stock buy u have to relock the bootloader.
I'm unsure of what you are trying to do ?
If u just unlocked why are u trying to go stock ,when you should still be on stock

I am trying to get rid of the red writing on the bootscreen which mentions Development purposes
Why? Do you need to send it back for some reason? The red text isn't overly obtrusive. You don't spend more than a few seconds with it on screen during reboots.

really?!
Big mistake....the note 2 doesn't come close.
Really, i was told the Note 2 is on par with the One! I also like the bigger screen
One is probably the best smart phone out today
What is a "Test Device"? I noticed this the other day (see attachment). I got a replacement phone last week (this phone), and not sure if it was there when it was stock, or that happens when I did the S-Off.
Or is that a special phone that got out in the wild? My girlfriend's phone HTC One doesn't have it.
Rooting your phone did this not s off. It's totally normal

Actually my phone isn't rooted (currently). Because I have S-Off, I used the RUU to take my phone back to stock to get the OTA update. So phone is 100% stock other than having S-Off.

Actually from what I have read, S-OFF did this not rooting.
Read my comment above. I've had that test device message since rooting my phone. I just did S Off 2 days ago so I can confirm its done after rooting/installing a custom rom etc...

I tried rooting my HTC one with qbking77 video tutorial. Unlocked the bootloader but couldn't root upon many unsuccessful attempts. Eventually relocked the bootloader.now my phone is given me tampered and relocked and security warning. I can't even turn off the phone. Anytime I try to turn it off it goes to fastboot mode. Is there anyway I can have stock android back on my phone and get ota. My network is three in the UK

This thread. This topic. I'm not filled with hope.
What do you mean, "Anytime I try to turn it off it goes to fastboot mode"? Did you flash recovery.img? How did you mess up unlocking the bootloader it couldn't be easier.
Unlocked boot loader all right. It was the rooting which was the problem. I tried and tried and when I couldn't do it. I relocked the bootloader. The phon is working alright but sometimes when I want to turn the phone off especially when I am in meetings it just won't go off. It goes to fastboot mode
