Battery Life Thread - Nexus 4 General

I know there's a battery discussion thread on here, but could we either get a sticky or a thread where the original post is updated with suggestions that work or tips to improve the battery life on the Nexus 4?
I don't think anyone would deny the current battery drain is abnormal so I would love to see a thread where I don't have to page through 400 posts to see if there's any update from Google as to a new Android build that improves battery life to tips such as the poster who removed several installed components on his Nexus and saw an immediate improvement.
I think this issue is important enough that having a single post/resource to keep up with the latest news and tips is justified.
Thoughts?

[Q] Duplicate Pictures

Been using the Vibrant for 2 whole days now on the Macnut R1 ROM. While looking through the Dev forum I noticed a lot of terms when talking about kernals (JPA,JPO, etc) Can someone shed some light on what these terms mean? When I look at the kernal in my phone info it says
The reason I'm wondering about this (aside from gaining knowledge) is because I like many am on a quest for better battery life. I see a lot of people in ROM threads saying they get better battery life with this kernal or that kernal and I'm not going to start flashing until I understand it all. Thanks in advance for the help!
Is XDA acting up or something? Your thread title is Duplicate Pictures but nothing is to do with pictures in this thread?
Also you said in your phone info it says.............
...........says what?
For battery saving and maximising up time, it seems to have a lot to do with the first 100% charge, although i heard and did 5 full charge/discharge cycles when mine was new and also to do with how you run your phone, i.e Live Wallpapers(they eat power) task killers(a waste of time as the system just fires them back up again anyway, so you end up killing, starting, killing, starting processes).

That's a thread on battery usage and there are some tips in there too
As for specific ROM battery usage, you'd be better reading in Android Development, go through the threads concerning any ROMs you like the sound of and look for people reporting their experiences. A good tip though is to avoid the ROMs that aim to increase processor speed as that's going to cost more battery and generate more heat
The title error was my fault. I was typing about one thing and thinking about another. -_- To complete that sentence my kernel says 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #45 which is apparently a JPA kernel.
I've been hanging on the dev forum and I did gain some understanding there but never found a clear explanation about the whole kernel thing.

How to find out where the battery is going

Running Serendipity 7.2
The battery is dead after 8 hours with little use.
I have a couple app that show usage of apps but nothing seems the say what is eating the battery.
Any ideas how i can find what the problem is?

horrible battery life!?!? take a look

Found this article and showed how the horrible the battery life is
http://www.tmonews.com/2012/11/nexus-4-battery-life-tested-early-results-show-less-than-impressive-results/
hope theres a fix for this!!?
I saw the article and I was unimpressed.
1) It is better than the Galaxy Nexus (which I thought had pretty decent battery life)
2) It is almost on par with the Galaxy S3 (over 30 million sold)
3) It is very close to the iPhone 5 and I think that IP5 has very good battery life.
I see all these charts and graphs and they are helpful but they are sometimes misleading.
It's a good thing we don't already have a lengthy battery life thread... Oh wait, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1970104
Even better we don't already have that link posted and discussed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33731917&highlight=tmonews+com#post33731917
Incomplete software. Only one of those phones on that graph isn't finished yet.

Tbh I wouldn't go by the current bench marks. This phone should be on level with the Optimus G but all the bench marks show otherwise for some odd reason. If these issues persist once the phone is released I'm sure the development community will sort things out and figure out why.

Battery times are not really "horrible".
It is definitely sub-par, but the final software and kernel tweaks may solve that completely, and even an update to Chrome could see performance and battery lifetime increase by a lot.
Seems to be a pattern here lately:
1) Don't even have the phone
2) Have something bad to say about it
3) Post without searching
Considering I just closed this exact thread with the exact same chart an hour and a half ago, I'm starting to get a little annoyed. Why don't you guys stay over in the Engadget comment section where you belong.

MIUI 9.1 (NAHCNEI) drain my battery much more than MIUI 8

hi.
i updated to MIUI 9 (NAHCNEI) and now it clearly drains my battery much more! its very bad because all the new features become worthless. if it drain the battery
anyone experience the same issue? is there a fix ? (besides disabling everything to make the battery last longer which make it pointless to have a smartphone)
thanks

Dear friend: THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR THIS POST. This is the rom development section. Please remove it and post on the Q&A section or you will be reported
Thanks.
Same issue here. I hope it will be fixed soon, and until then I'll stick to custom roms.

Question Any tips for improving SOT? (Miuimix ROM)

Basically getting between 3 - 5 hours of screen on time at 2k and 90hz. 5 hours is when I have the battery saver enabled and barely do anything. 3 is normal usage. Just wondering what you guys are doing to get more sot like installing certain apps, making certain tweaks etc.

Thanks for sharing that link. I am also looking for tips for improving SOT. Can you guys give me your suggestion here for which apple gadgets for studying is the best? I want to buy it but I can't choose them. I will be thankful to you if you help me by giving me ideas.
That guide it's kinda bad in a way cause it's remove most of the phone features but the intentions are good and it's gonna get you a little more battery life. The most impact on the battery it's the refresh rate.
If you can try flashing AOSP rom. For me AOSP have better battery life and good stability even if they aren't that many updates.
