Android WebOS flashing - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK. I got the webOS some time ago for my wife. She is getting a bit annoyed at apps not being updated basically. Or I am cause she asks why stuff doesn't work well which is normally because lack of support in web OS
So.
Is there a nice newbie guide to flashing android?
Its never had anything but webos so far.
Can I retain webos as well (dual boot) and will it get wiped if I do?
What's the most stable and fully featured version of Android foe touchpad? I guess CM9?
Thanks guys

Yes check out Reverend Kyle s video tutorials here http://www.reverendkyle.com/
You will retain WeBos ,dual boot and nothing will be wiped .
Use the latest CM9 official nightly .
As you are in the UK pm me and if you wish and I will talk you through it or help you install it remotely.

Happy you got it all sorted , trust your wife is happy . If you want any suggestions please let me know .
One thing I would say is to NEVER let the touchpad run down, an app that can help is Automatelt which you can use to shutdown when the battery level drops below a certain % .
All the best.

Oh what happens if it does?
Any recommended %? She does have a habit of letting her phone battery die so I'll definitely set something up if need be

If it does ,it becomes impossible to reboot/ turn on unless you have a touchstone charger.
I have set mine and my daughters at 15 % ,she has not always plugged hers in properly and it saves a few sleepless nights.

Cool. I dont have a touchstone so will set a warning at 20 and shut off at 15.
Is there any graceful shutdown setting? It seems to just die

Did that on my daughters as she doesn't listen to anything I say , it plays one of my music tracks that she hates, but the shutdown is there for an unattended low battery .

HD 7 getting hot after five minutes using

Hi I don't know anyone have same problem like me.I just got new HD 7 from tmobile and I have a issues phone getting hot after whatever talking on the phone or play phone five -ten minutes . You guys have same issues?!!if not I need to call tmobile to change new one.
(forgot to say the getting hot part r on The bottom of the back of the phone)
Its just the CPU its Not a defect this is how all of the hd7's are and how most 1ghz or higher phones are In fact the iPhone 4's cpu is underclocked to minimize the heat
Sent from my HD7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
is there any instance or any reported case where in the hd7's cpu overheated? or melted/toast/fried the cpu and some of the phones components?
If it overheats it shuts off and cant be turned on until it cools

thanks for reply but my question is this normal??! is it happen to all hd7? if not I need to call tmobile and get the new one.
Don't worry about it unless it reboots or you can't even touch it due to the heat. HTC stated on their official help site that the HD7 will get warm under heavy usage. I believe the problem was also present on the HD2 due to HTC's lack of a more efficient cooling process.
Same thing happens to my hd7 its rebooted a couple of times

If it reboots, you might want to get a replacement.

Hi, im having exactly the same problem as you. After i did re-flashing to custom rom(deep shining), i left my phone charging at night(usb charging) until morning. My phone started to heat, not on battery side, it is at the bottom side.
The effect was heating all the time with battery 100% full charged will gone within 15minutes. I try all the way by reflashing diff. kind of custom ROM. But now i have original SPL with legit Mango. Still not changing anything.
Those symptoms are really come from processor problem?

71% battery see if battery good

My phone will not be on charger and wifi on I want to see if phone will last till morning

Better then before I take it.
I had crappy battery life on stock. Today I put Thrill Seeker on my phone and I have had it unplugged for about 12 hours, it was at 100%, then through loading and restoring apps, text messages, etc, making phone calls... So decent use, it's now at 63%.
So that might be an option for you.

The 3D seems actually quicker to start up. It doesn't have the 3D Game Converter I don't think, but someone on stock might be able to throw that up so you can put it into system/app.

Battery question.

Does the screen really eat up that much battery? I do keep my screen on a lot from texting to social networks. Would a deferent kernel possible ease the screen usage or is that how much power the screen consumes with a pretty good amount of usage?
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda app-developers app
Yes ,
I turn auto off and run it about a 1/3 of the way and in the dark I turn it even Lower sometimes and the batt seems ok ,
If I was constantly doing stuff on the phone at that rate I get a good 3-3 1/2 hr and Im talking actually sitting with the phone on and doing constant stuff for that long .
Thanks for asking - I find that my display battery usage is just as high!
I'll have to try the auto off. Auto dim doesn't seem to work that good. I guess ill experiment after work with a different kernel and see if its any better this morning. Thanks for confirming

OK I fixed it lol. I tried the new Pegasus rom with the stockish kernel. Amazing! I recommend it.

Definitely getting great battery on the Pegasus ROM. I've found turning off you data when not using it effectively doubles my battery life. But then again I'm in an LTE area so that burns it up like you wouldn't believe when it's on and being used.

I don't have lte in my area. I'm going on 1 day and 1 hour with this rom. VERY pleased!

From HTC Care

Hello Friends... I saw many people having this problem with their phones... The problem was battery charging stuck when it reaches x% (x might be 85 or 87 or 90 whatever mine is 87%). I tried bump charging, tried to calibrate battery several times, etc etc but nothing works... So i decided to take help of HTC Care and i get back to stock and i take my phone to htc... they registered my complaint... The Engineer named this problem as Battery Not Charging Physically... They kept my phone for a week.. after 2-3 days a call came from HTC to tell exact repairing amount of phone... According to HTC Engineers the problem is with motherboard and it costs 8590 INR... So i didn't repaired my phone...So there is no worth to repair phone...and say Bye bye to Green LED... lolzz... If any one solved this problem on there own then plz share ua exp so others can solved them too... Thank You..

Have you tried with another battery? Because they have a chip that prevents overcharge. Maybe this has a defect.

Is this normal?

Hi guys,
So im a first time HTC user. I have always had nexus devices.
My wife took a liking to my nexus 4 so i went out and got myslef a red HTC one.
Ive just looked in the battery stats and it says that HTC sense is using up 28% of my battery.
Is this normal or is there something wrong?
Obviously never using one of these skinned devices before i dont know if its supposed to be like that ut it just doesnt seem right to me.
Thanks for your help guys
2% for me (and i am using blinkffed quite a lot)... running ARHD 12.1
Ouch so ive got a bit of a problem then...
Im running 4.2.2 if that makes a difference 100% stock.
1 % here. Stock and unrooted. I suggest you to download "Wakelock Detektor" from Play Store, maybe there's a solution.
