Flashing ROMs is right around the corner for the Razr HD and AHD. I made this utility for the AHD, but it should work fine for the RAZR HD. Hope you all enjoy flashing ROMs and let me know how this works.
Cache, dalvik cache, and system wipe.

Full Wipe.

Also, the regular I assume no responsibility for anything that happen to your phone while flashing this zip, yadda yadda yadda, use at own risk, yadda yadda yadda, and be careful.
What are the advantages of using this instead of the wipe feature built in to most recoveries?
Thanks for helping the Razr community though.

Much faster, full wipe coming soon which is a little slower but still faster than using recovery. This one right here does everything BUT data.
Also if you look at a lot of big roms, MIUI for example, they will link these in their instructions to flash first. Although some people know to do a full wipe, others may not. So it keeps phones from bootlooping and bricking for new users.
RAZR HD Android is a 4.1 android ??
HD isn't OFFICIALLY 4.1 yet but there is a leak and a ROM out that is 4.1.

Hey,
right now my phone is on CM7, but much progress has been made with CM9 or ICS.
My question is wheater is should flash this version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517301
or this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508492
what are the differences between this 2 version? which one is more stable? which one is faster?
thanks in advance! cheers
Supernova is the kernel that comes with novahd.
And the difference between owains and novahd is that novahd is more customizable. During the installation you can choose exactly how you want it. From text fonts to what apps you want to install. But both Roms is based on owains, so there is not a big difference.
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
Nova has also a tweaked kernel Supernova
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA
you think that the nova hd is based on owains build, be yourself are both fine, but I would put that of owains
Nova is very good in speed, smoothness and still very stable.
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA
I personally use Owains because I tried NovaHD and directly saw that it didn´t like me, everything was forced closed and not much was working, but however, I did like the customised stock-apps in /system/app/ and I still use a few of them. I´m currently running on Owains RC0-37 and I think that it all flows on very good!
I would choose Owain because I like to have bleeding edge features (It updates often) but I think that NovaHD would be a great choise to! So, my suggestion: try them both for a couple of days!
(Sorry for bad english)

If you install with fullwipe, try nonwipe, or wipe in CWM and install with nonewipe.
I`ve also read someone have to install with wipe, and reinstall with nonewipe.
Nova is just a better polished version of owain rom, I used Nova before, but now reloadedICS does not work on the latest version, that's bad
I think it's personal choice. For a All-in-One Package I would prefer Nova HD.
But again, again there isn't too much difference.
If i follow this steps is there any chance to brick my phone?
I want to install paranoid android build 5 .
1. Make a backup
2. Clear cache
3.Clear davlik
4.Format /system
5.Install zip from sdcard
I want to install this custom rom only if there are 100% no chances to brick my phone
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
There isn't 100 percent change to have succeed. Anyway LG is hard to brick. I successfully changed my rom but after 2 weeks it got huge problems nd cannot mount partition.
After clearance by NVflash all problems gone.
If you aren't coming from PA rom, and wipe data petition also.

I understand your hesitance I felt the same way.. untilled I successfully did it.. first one I tried was cm7 official build used the same steps u list but got a boot loop (this is not a brick as u can still access recovery) .. anyway I had to nvflash the rom and it worked and I now change Tom's all the time just to test and mess about with .. its easy and there is plenty of support available ... good luck

I've been searching around, but it still isn't really clear to me so I decided to make a thread.
I'm currently running an old version of Stunner ROM Beta v 5.0. (Yes, really old)
Baseband version: XXLA4
Kernel: I9220ZCLP5.
Android 4.0.4
The thing is, that I would like to try out Paranoidandroid, but for that I'd need to (from what I've read) be on a CM9/CM10 ROM.
I've heard some bad things about the bricked stunner devices and ever since that I haven't really had the guts to modify anything.
Would one of you be so kind to put together a little tutorial on how to get to running Paranoidandroid's latest version? Or the ICS based version if that's a lot easier. I don't really mind that much for JB beta's.
It's greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance,
Lanarix.
1) Boot to recovery
2) Flash safe kernel, Abyss or Hydracore.
3) Reboot in recovery. advanced > reboot in recovery.
4) Full wipe
5) Flash ROM of your choice.
This is just off the top of my head, I'm sure if you search round you will find a better guide

Thank you, but I do need to get back to a pre-rooted GB ROM first right? And then flash CM9 over it, right?
And at step 3 you repeated reboot in recovery, that can't be what you meant haha ;p
Download PA/gapps
Download hydracore kernel
Reboot to cwm flash hydracore
Reboot recovery
Wipe all
Flash PA/gapps

So if I understand this correctly, I don't even have to go back to a GB rooted ROM? That'd make things a lot easier.

The ParanoidAndroid thread says it's a JB Rom, so I suppose I'm unable to just flash it from a ICS ROM like mine?
Or am I wrong again? I know ICS > ICS is fine now, but is ICS > JB do-able in my case? From this ROM I use right now?

EDIT: I just watched the tutorial and it says "DON'T flash FROM ANY SAMSUNG ICS OR ROMS BASED ON SAMSUNG KERNELS (my CM9, AOSP, etc)"
So this says I need to go back to GB, but is it different nowadays?
Sorry for all the questions.. I'm really a lot behind..

Yeah, I did! In comparison to CM11, Mokee 4.4.2 has a much better performance than CM11, which used to be a little laggy...
Mokee 4.4.2 has an RC status and is very stable.
Updates aren't released so often than CM's, but the updates are coming with bigger changes. CM11 updates are coming almost each day, but only with translation updates and some tiny fixes, which are causing no mentionable improvements. Mokee's battery life on screen is almost the same (just a little better), off screen very much better, because of Mokee's battery saving toggle, which is a great feature! Mokee also offers some cool UI features/animations.
In the end I can say that CM has always been a good rom for our 4X HD and I've always been satisfied with CM but version 11 is still in nightly state, very unstable and at the moment I recommend Mokee instead of CM11. Maybe I'm going to have a look at CM11 again when a Snapshot or an RC comes out.
(I don't say CM is bad, it's just full of bugs until now)
Hope I could help ya!

Most likely, CM11 based and Omni based require a wipe because, omni is awkward, check out my post in the beanstalk thread, I explained wiping and flashing etc.

Dude, was the question "is it recommended to wipe data?" ? No, so why give that answer xD
Of course it is not recommended, it is not recommended to void your warranty and risk bricking your phone by custom romming in the first place but you've come this far now
Take a backup, and if all else fails, just reflash kdz and start over.. Its fine, experiment, that's how to build experience, you learn what ROMs to wipe data, and which you can get away with...
All threads say "full wipe recommended" or similar, but no one ever listens xD
If dirty flash = bootloop, then clean flash, or choose a different rom, or use a backup method..
I encourage failure, then you build the experience of recovering a device, and then you are more confident knowing you have that back fall.
Thanks guys.
